Some where in the city there stood a disused factory. Graffiti had already claimed the
brown brick walls and mould had all ready latched itself onto the damp corners. On the
top floor one light shone unsteadily to suggest that the factory may not be disused
after all. But no one was brave enough to check, since a myth surrounds the factory
shrouding it in mystery.
Inside in the room next to the light, a man stood alone. The room was grey and wind blew
in through a crack in the window creating a howling sound. Nervously he smoothed down
his suit as he looked out of a grimy window. A metal door behind him creaked open.
“He will see you now,” A woman with glasses perched on her log nose told him.
Too nervous to speak he just nodded and walked through the open door.
“Just go straight ahead,” She directed
The man nervously rubbed his hands together as he approached the door and with shaking
hands he opened the door.
“Ah Mr Collins, I’ve been waiting for you,” The man behind the desk said
Mr Collins approached the beefy man and bowed low.
“Sorry Master Vondrack, I was held up,” he stood waiting for a signal to sit
“You may be seated,” Kraig Vondrack said a cigar between his plump lips.
“Thank you sir,”
So, I hear you’ve failed,”
“Yes, sorry sir,”
“Well why did you fail? I would like to know how stupid you could’ve been to fail
bringing him to me,”
“I’m sorry,”
“WELL?”
“We found him easily, but he attacked us. One of our men managed to wound him quite
badly and was weakened considerably which meant he couldn’t teleport as far as he hoped,”
“So what went wrong?” Kraig spat
“He teleported to a local park, downtown, when we finally managed to trace his
whereabouts he was gone,”
“How?” Mr Vondrack hissed.
“His scent was gone, it was the next day before we finally traced him to Katy Fosters’
Home, but he smelled us coming and with the strength he regained he teleported away,”
“What about the girl?”
“He took her with him,”
“YOU INCOMPENTANT MAN,”
“I’m sorry Boss,”
“I trust that you will find Harland and Katie foster. If you don’t by the end of this
week I shall personally make sure you have your cut off and impaled on a stick.”
Mr Collins paled as he thought of what happened to a friend of his a month ago who had
failed a mission. His head was still impaled on one of the spikes on the back gate flies
feasting on the remains of flesh.
“Yes Master Vondrack,”
“Now go,” Vondrack said waving his hand.
Quickly Mr Collins got up, bowed low and hurriedly fled the room.

“Melanie Jones,” The teacher said reading from the register
“Here,” The girl in the back said
“Drake George,”
“Here sir,” The boy blond haired at the front said
“Katy Fosters,”
There was silence
“Katy fosters,”
“I don’t think she’s here sir,”
“Again?” The teacher adjusted his glasses
“Yes sir,”
“Has anyone called her? What about you Angela?”
A girl with blond hair and glasses looked up.
“No sir, I saw her this weekend but that’s the last time I’ve seen her. I tired calling
last night but she wasn’t there,”
“That’s strange, Ok then on with the class. Does anyone know what laceration means?”

Angela Bloodsworth was one of Katy’s friends; they’d known each other for a long time
now and have always been really close. As Angela walked down the road towards Katy’s
apartment she knew instantly that something was wrong, Katy would never miss three days
of college. She'd be late but she would not appear.
She pushed her glasses up as she arrived at the door. She pressed the bell to ring
Katy’s door and was only a little bit surprised that no one answered.
Luckily she had keys, sticking her hand in to her big cluttered bag she found a pair of
keys attached to a silver key ring.
“Here we go,”
Sticking them into the lock she opened the door and wandered in. She took the elevator
and reached Katy’s floor, using the second key she opened the door to Katy’s place.
As the door opened a sight she never expected to see welcomed her.
“What happened?” She whispered
The living room was completely wrecked; the coffee table lay in splinters on the floor,
newspaper were thrown every where, the television lay face down on the floor the sofa
was ripped.
Angela didn’t even want to look into the bedroom.
“Oh, Katy what has happened?”
Angela stood in the mess not knowing what to do; Katy was like family to her. Both
without friends it’s always nice to have someone to look out for you.
No matter what, Angela vowed she would find Katy. Like Katy would find her.
After all families stick together.
