Chapter 5
A/N: WARNING: this section contains severely adult content!! It is most likely disturbing to read. There will be lesbian sex; blood play, D/s, and a knife will be used during sex. As I said, it is most likely disturbing to some people, however you have been warned! This will also be the last chapter, and I will tell you right now that it is not a happy ending that awaits you. To give you some idea, my beta cried when she read through it, and she doesn’t cry about stories…ever. I let my emotions dictate the story, and for this one I was predictably depressed…not that writing this chapter helped matters any…anyway, read it if you so wish. I warned you ahead of time, so please, no flames. Aside from that, I do not in anyway condone Ileana’s behavior at all in this chapter, nor do I agree with the way Alex reacts to that behavior. I’m not THAT sick and twisted, I promise.
*+*+*+*
The two women eventually head up to bed, deciding that it would be best to sleep in separate rooms for the night. The hormone levels between the two were too high for them to simply sleep. They had decided to go out to breakfast the next morning, if for no other reason than to talk about what was happening between them. With a final goodnight kiss, Alex heads into her bedroom to get some sleep. Unfortunately the powers-that-be had other ideas…
At around midnight, Alex’s bedroom door slams open to reveal her lover. Ileana just stands there, looking around the room, before quickly moving to take Alex into her arms. After the fight they’d had earlier, she needed the comfort. She wouldn’t let Alex leave her. Seeing Ileana in the doorway, Alex rushes from the bed, and is pressed firmly into the wall as insistent lips capture her own
Alex flips the positions, and presses Ileana into the wall, forgetting all about her promise to Aurora. She kisses a trail from Ileana’s mouth to her ear, blowing hot air gently over the shell. A smirk adorns her face at the involuntary shudder that wracks her lover’s body. Her lips wrap around an earlobe, and tug lightly, causing a low moan.
Ileana’s hands run over the arms holding her upright. She feels Alex flinch as she runs over a hidden cut. She grins, and pulls back to look into green-gray eyes, “Did you cut yourself again?”
“Yes,” Alex allows her head to fall against her chest, as she hears her partner’s throaty chuckle.
“Can I see?”
“Of course,” she pulls back further, and unbuttons her blouse, sliding it slowly over her arms. She barely suppresses a gasp as a fresh scab gets caught on the fabric, reopening the wound.
Ileana looks into ashamed eyes, and grins shamelessly. “Beautiful.” She whispers gently, before taking a wrist into her hand, and pulling it up. She pulls a knife from her back pocket and locks eyes with Alex as she draws it across the tender flesh.
Alex groans as the blade severs her healing skin. She knew it was wrong, but damn it, it felt good! Her head falls back, and a hiss of pain leaves her parted lips. Her arm is lifted further, and she feels a pair of lips wrap around the fresh cuts, drinking the newly spilt blood. She groans again as she feels the blood being sucked from the wound. The lips move from the bloodied arm, and roughly suckle on her lover’s chest, a grin crossing the lips at the low moan emitted from the blonde.
Ileana continues to grin. The power she has over this woman is nothing short of amazing. Who else would be able to get her to cut herself for their pleasure? Who else would have been able to convince Alex to try this? And who else but herself would be able to convince Alex to do it over and over again? She’d learned in their time together what buttons to push to get what she wanted. She knew that Alex was insecure, and she knew that Alex would do anything to keep people from leaving. It was most entertaining to see what she could push the woman to do.
These thoughts do nothing to dissuade her from watching as her lover’s face contorts in a mix of pain and pleasure. Ileana is now on her knees before the trembling woman, the knife in one hand, slowly carving into the yielding flesh. She removes the knife, and grins as the blood streams down a firm thigh. Slowly, she runs her tongue up the leg, swallowing the thick red liquid until she reaches its source. Her tongue glides over the fresh wound, and she cannot restrain the small chuckle as she hears the hiss of pain it elicits. Her mouth moves to cover the wound, and slowly she draws the blood into her mouth, feeling the woman in her arms begin to sag.
Aurora hears the whimper from down the hall where she’d been staying, and moves to stand outside the bedroom door. When Ileana begins to drag the blade slowly over the unmarred skin of Alex’s stomach, Aurora launches into action. She jumps from the closet, just as a thin trail of blood begins to snake down Alex’s abdomen. She nearly tackles a very shocked Ileana. When Alex only relaxes into her firm body, she panics. ‘Oh god, please be ok!’ her frantic thoughts get jumbled, as she lies the woman on the bed. Pushing them all aside, she turns to Ileana. Grabbing a set of handcuffs from the nightstand, she swiftly clasps them around the bitch’s arm. Removing the keys, to prevent Ileana from removing them, Aurora reaches for her cell phone.
Her fingers dial 911 quickly, knowing that Alex would need to get help fast. She practically yells at the operator to send help. Not five minutes later, there are sirens and flashing lights outside the window.
Aurora reluctantly leaves her would-be-lover’s side to let them in.
“Where’s the girl?”
“The injured woman is upstairs, and the psycho who did this is handcuffed to their bed.” Seeing his confused looks she elaborates, “They had just broken up. Though from the looks of things, this was a fairly common occurrence. I used their handcuffs to keep her here.”
The paramedics look to one another, and rush after Aurora. They enter the room, and a horrified silence takes over the room. On the bed is a young woman, whom most of them know. Old scars cover her body, and fresh blood still flows freely from her newest wounds.
“John! Help me with her!”
The paramedics begin to lift Alex onto a gurney, and Aurora panics once more, “Where are you taking her? Is she going to be okay?”
“Ma’am, you are going to have to calm down. We need to take her to the hospital immediately. She’s lost too much blood for us to leave her here. You can come with us if you’d like.”
“Of course. What about her?” she indicates Ileana for the first time.
“Steve, get the cops up here. Tell them that the suspect is in the room, and is contained for now. Do you have the key?” He asks Aurora suddenly.
“Yes, of course.” She hands it to him, and returns once more to clasp Alex’s hand, tears streaming down her face, “It’ll be ok baby. I’m never going to leave you again.”
“’Rora?” the woman on the gurney croaks. “What’s going on?”
“Shh, relax sweetheart. You need to go to the hospital. You’ve lost a lot of blood, but you’ll be ok.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you, please forgive me ‘Rora.”
“What are you talking about? Hmm? You didn’t do anything.”
“I cheated on you. I nearly slept with her again.” Her body shakes as tears begin rolling down her pale cheeks, “I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault.”
“No it’s not baby! None of this is your fault. Ileana was insane, and she got to you. Don’t beat yourself up over this, it’s not your fault.”
Alex’s eyes begin to close, “Love you, ‘Rora” Her voice is now barely a whisper, and Aurora must lean very close to hear the words.
“I love you too,” A tear lands on Alex’s forehead, “I love you too.”
By now they were outside and about to climb into the ambulance. “Ma’am, can you step back?” A paramedic asks gently. None of them had wanted to interrupt the exchange, but if they didn’t get going soon, things would get bad.
Aurora jumps, but unsteadily moves back, smiling softly as the hand in her grasp tightens its grip. As soon as Alex is safely inside the ambulance, Aurora climbs in after her, not about to leave her side unless she had no other choice. Their eyes lock, and Aurora cannot resist leaning in to softly brush their lips together.
Not wanting to upset the woman, she pulls back slowly. Gently, she runs her hand through the silky tresses. The rest of the trip is spent staring into each other’s eyes, and softly clasping hands. The ambulance finally does reach its destination, and Aurora smiles reassuringly down at her lover, “It’ll be ok.” The paramedic informs her that she will need to make a statement, and that there are several forms for her to sign. Aurora agrees readily, and turns to her love, “As soon as I get done with all that, I’ll be by your side. Ok?”
Alex still has a hint of fear clouding her eyes. After all that had happened, could she bear to be separated from her love? “Ok.”
Not ten minutes pass, before Aurora makes her way to the sterile room, freezing at the sight of her girlfriend lying unmoving on the bed. A blanket had been draped casually across her slender frame, leaving nothing to the imagination.
As though sensing her presence, Alex opens her eyes and locks them with Aurora’s. “Hey, come here.” She orders softly.
Aurora hesitates only briefly before sitting in the chair next to the small bed, “How are you love? Stupid question, I’m sorry.”
“It’s not a stupid question.” Alex tilts her face up to meet the caring eyes that hold nothing but love in their depths, “I’m sorry you had to see that. I’d wanted to keep it from you. You shouldn’t have to know how pathetic I’ve gotten. You know she honestly made me think I was in love? That’s not what love is, and I knew that, but every time things seem to be going well, and I think ‘Hey! Here’s the one I could spend the rest of my life with!’ something happens, and they’re torn from me. But then when it’s the completely wrong girl, the one who probably couldn’t care less if I lived or died, I can hold onto them forever it seems.” She laughs humorously, before coughing at the sudden movement. “I’m just fucked up I guess.” She tears her hand from the gentle hold it’s in.
Aurora pushes her gently back on the bed, and retakes her hand in a firm, steady grip. “Oh baby,” she nearly sobs, “You aren’t fucked up! You haven’t had much luck, that’s all. Nobody’s been there to show you what you deserved.”
“You were. You were there, and I threw that relationship away many times! See? I get rid of the relationships that could actually work.”
“That’s not true and you know it. There was no way in Hell we could have worked out back then. I didn’t know what I wanted, and you were still way too over-possessive. It was both of our faults for that whole mess. It takes two people to make up a relationship, and it takes two people to make a relationship work. But I’m ready now. I know what I want, and I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it to you.”
“What do you want then?”
“You silly. Always and forever, you. If you’ll have me, that is.”
“Of course I will. As soon as I get out of here, I’ll be happy to have you in any way you’d like.” Alex leers at the woman hovering over her, smiling at the gentle laugh that follows her words.
“Hmm, all the possibilities…But I’m not even going to think about that until you are 100% well again.” She giggles lightly at the pout on Alex’s face, “I don’t want you to pass out on me, do I? Passing out because of me is one thing, passing out because you aren’t healthy is another.”
“Yeah, yeah. I love you.”
A surprised gasp leaves Aurora, “I love you too sweetheart. You have no idea how worried I was that I hadn’t gotten to you in time. I still can’t believe she did that to you. Why didn’t you tell me? Or Sam for that matter?”
“I didn’t want to upset you guys. I thought she loved me, and I wasn’t exactly fighting her on it to begin with.”
It is then that a nurse comes in and informs Aurora that visiting hours are over, and that she should return at 8:00 the following morning. The nurse leaves to give them a moment to say goodbye, and tears spring to Aurora’s eyes. “I don’t want to leave!”
“I know my love. But they won’t let you stay here anyway, so you might as well go home and get some sleep. I’ll be here waiting for you in the morning. I love you.” She leans up and captures her partner’s lips with her own in a breath taking, heart stopping kiss.
“God, I love you too baby. I’ll be here first thing in the morning. As soon as they will let me in, I’ll be at your side. I promise. I love you so very much, I hope you know that.”
“I do dear heart. Now go, the mean man is coming back to take you away anyway. I love you.”
***
It is at 7:30 in the morning, just as Aurora is getting ready to leave, that she gets the phone call:
“Hello? Is this Aurora?”
“Yes, who is this?” Her heart stops in her chest, fearing the worst.
“This is the hospital. We have you listed as a contact for Alexandra Silverstein*. Can you come down? It’s urgent ma’am”
“I’ll be there in 10 minutes.” She slams down the phone, hoping that it isn’t as bad as her heart is saying it is.
She slams into the emergency room 10 minutes later, and the sees the doctor talking to a solemn looking orderly.
“Excuse me, sir?”
“Ah, yes. You must be Aurora. Please, sit down.” He gestures to a nearby seat.
“No thank you, I’d rather see my girlfriend. Surely this can be discussed in front of her?”
He sighs deeply, “I’m afraid Miss. Silverstein—Alex—died in her sleep last night.”
Aurora hears nothing but a roaring in her ears after that, completely drowning out the doctor’s words. Slowly, she sits, her shaking legs beginning to give out on her.
“How the fuck did this happen? I was told that she would be fine! The cuts weren’t that deep!” Surprised at the calm in her voice, she listens carefully as the doctor repeats what she’d drowned out.
“Alex had some unforeseen problems. There was massive internal bleeding, which we were unable to stop. It appears that this was a long time coming. Her internal organs were all severely bruised, and one of her ribs had punctured something, though only barely. It probably would have caused her slight discomfort, but knowing her, she would have brushed it off. The bleeding probably occurred over a matter of weeks, and it is sheer luck that it hadn’t happened sooner. Aside from that discomfort, it was not a painful death. As I said, she died in her sleep. It was roughly 2 a.m. when we discovered that she was in distress, and we did everything in our power to stop the bleeding. I’m truly sorry for your loss.”
“Do you know how the injury occurred?” Her voice deadly calm.
“It probably resulted from a punch to the side. It seems as though the other woman, Ileana, will be facing murder charges, on top of assault, and whatever else the D.A. can come up with. Rest assured, that woman will not walk the streets again. I plan on testifying, and will do all I can to ensure maximum punishment.”
Aurora bursts into tears at the thought of what had happened to her friend…no, her lover. To think, that such a strong woman had been through so much, and not told anybody. She shakily dials Sam from her cell phone, not caring about the hospital’s policy. “Sam, you need to get down here. Oh god, that bitch! Alex…she…she died Sam. Please hurry.”
“Wait, ‘Rora, where are you? And what’s going on?”
“That bitch killed her Sam. I’m at the hospital now, I need you to get down here, I can’t do this alone. Sam, please!”
“Calm down! I’ll be there in just a minute, ok?” True to his word, Sam shows up minutes after they end the call. Seeing his friend in obvious distress, he rushes to her side. “Aurora, what happened?”
“I can’t—I’m sorry—“
“Sam, is it? I’m Alex’s doctor. What your friend said on the phone is true. Miss. Silverstein is dead.”
“No, no she can’t be!” he shakes his head to deny what he knows is true, “I talked to her yesterday! She can’t be dead! How did this happen??”
“Ileana.” Its just one word, but Sam understands the explanation immediately.
“What did that bitch do?”
The doctor proceeds to tell him what had happened during the night, and Aurora fills him in on the rest. The two are led to identify the body, and Aurora clings to Sam as she sees her love’s still body on the table. She rushes to it, and wraps her arms around the corpse, tears running steadily down her face to dry on the cold form in her arms. Eventually, Sam leads her away, tears shining in his eyes.
“What am I going to do without her Sam?”
“You’re going to do what she would have wanted you to do. You’re going to go on, and raise your children to be good kids. You’re going to find someone to take her place, and go on.”
“I’ll never find anyone to take her place. Never.”
*+*+*+* THE END? *+*+*+*
A/N: I know the scene between Alex and Ileana may seem a bit unbelievable. Why would Alex just give in and kiss Ileana like nothing had happened? But I’m kind of playing on the fact that she did honestly believe that Ileana loved her. Then there’s the fact that she just woke up, and is probably not thinking too clearly. I know it may seem far-fetched, but knowing the actual people in real life like I do, I know that it could happen. Feel free to bitch about that section, I’m kind of expecting it.
A/N 2: I couldn’t decide if I should write an epilogue to this, so I decided to leave it up to you guys on this one. I’d understand completely if you did not wish to have more, seeing as how it probably will be just as depressing as this was. If you do however, feel free to e-mail me and ask for it. If “Aurora” read this, I warned you many times that you wouldn’t like it, but I’m still very sorry if I upset you by writing this. To everyone else who read this, I’m sorry if it upset you to read the ending, but I truthfully couldn’t think of another way to end it and still keep the characters in character. This was one of five endings I wrote, and this one seemed to be the most believable, and it kept to the story the best.
