Chapter 34- Human Limits
Thanks for the review Falcon! And yeah, I know sometimes I make a few errors... but since it was really funny to you, I think I\'ll let it stay. In any case here\'s the next chapter!
Chapter 34
Aivon led the way to the same cave he was just thrown out of last night. Still the two demon guards were there, but before Aivon could prepare, John walked right up to them, intent on passing. He was unsurprised, therefore, when one of them blocked his way.
\"This is Demon territory human. Leave at once.\"
John looked around and said mockingly, \"I don\'t see any demons.\"
\"Are you trying to insult us!?\" The demon roared in anger.
\"Wow, if your smart enough to stand guard, I guess your smart enough to recognize an insult.\"
The demon cursed in rage, and Aivon was bewildered why John would actually provoke the demon. But Jessica knew why, and the instant the demon attacked, John cast a fire spell, and the situation became clear. By provoking the demon, he wwould be blinded by rage. Then he couldn\'t prepare for a surprise attack, let alone a spell. Knocked away by the blw, John faced the other demon wondering if he would try to fight. But he merely ran into the cave, away from them.
\"He\'s off to warn everyone...\"
\"True Jessica. So much for our grand entrence then.\"
\"Just remember, I will handle my father. You two sure you\'re up for this?\"
\"We said we were coming. And we haven\'t left you alone now, have we?\" John said, slightly annoyed. Aivon smiled to him and they departed deeper into the cave. Many of the demons had already heard the commotion and were prepared to fight. Running by quickly, John and Jessica stalled the demons with spells, leaving Aivon to enter the main chamber where his father was.
\"You ready? Get moving!\"
\"Thanks!\"
\"John, here they come!\"
John withdraw his blade and faced the demons. \"Ready Jessica? We have to give Aivon a chance!\"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
\"Hiroas!\"
Aivon shouted into the room, a look of fury on his face. He tore off his cloak and gloves that contrained his demonic attributes. He gazed around the room, looking for any signs of his father, but Hiroas was nowhere to be seen.
\"So, my worthless son has come to die at his father\'s hands...\"
\"Your calling me worthless!? Your the coward who won\'t face me!\" Aivon yelled.
\"Coward? Me? Your mistaken...\" From the darkness of the ceiling Hiroas fell in front of Aivon. \"You couldn\'t beat me either way... I think you should be the one hiding.\"
Aivon rushed in and tried to strike with his claws, but Hiroas moved quickly out of the way, dodging his blow. Aivon continued his relentless attacking, but Hiroas did nothing more then move and dodge everything. \"Fight back!\" Aivon yelled, annoyed with him. He got his wish, very painfully as Hiroas struck Aivon\'s torso with his claw. Aivon pulled away but rallied almost instantly. \"Damn... alright not exactly what I had in mind...\"
\"Hahahaha!!! Fool. Your no match for me. Your weak human heart has clouded your true demon strength! As long as you continue to feel like humans do, you will never be stronger then me!\"
\"Rock Shower!\" Aivon punched at the ground, sending shards of earth into the air. They all started toward Hiroas.
\"Ahh... you\'ve also unlocked your magic... But... Earth Wall!\" A wall of earth rose and the shards that Aivon sent struck into it, embedding themselves. \"You\'ve no chance... my magic is far stronger then yours.\"
Aivon growled again, his eyes darting wildly, as if they weren\'t his own. \"You... you...\"
\"Hehehe... your starting to feel it... your demonic power. It\'s overwhelming isn\'t it?\"
Aivon hardly heard him. His mind seemed to be in another place, his eyes losing focus of the bigger picture. His heart felt heavy and instinct seemed to take over. \"Die!!!\" Aivon rushed in again, and struck. Hiroas had to block this time, pushing his son back, as the two locked in battle. \"You... die!!!\"
\"Yes... Yes! You truely are a demon! Your raw power... a sign of your true heritage!\" Hiroas reached back and struck Aivon in the face, causing him to fly back. \"You are truely... a beast at heart.\"
Aivon stared at him wide-eyed. He was about to strike again, when the words stopped him. Me!? A beast? He Lies! But Aivon thought of the way he was acting now. It was truely not like him. Seeing his father sparked something in him, somehting that made him forget both his mother\'s kindness and the affection he felt for Sophia. He suddenly felt sick and ashamed.
No... my mother.. she didn\'t raise a beast... she raised a son... Someone she could be proud of... and Sophia... I want her to see me... not just as a demon, but a person...
\"You are nothing... now break your human bonds and come to realize what is truely power.\"
Aivon stood there, looking at the ground. \"No...\" He looked up into his father\'s eyes, with a new fury, one unlike the first look he gave him. \"I may have human bonds... but it\'s those bonds... the ones that my mother forged that will break you.\" Aivon readied himself.
\"Fool. You still don\'t see... what power is. Then I\'ll just have to beat some sense into you!\" Hiroas rushed foward this time, intent on striking.
Aivon placed his hands on the ground. \"Gaia Strike!\" Hiroas continued his attack, until beams of energy shot out of the ground, one of them striking dead on Hiroas. \"Got you!\"
\"What... What was that!?\" Hiroas yelled angerily.
\"It was... power that only a human could understand.\" Aivon raised his claw. \"Your finished!\"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John jumpped back from another attack. Although together they managed to take out half a dozen demons, John and Jessica were tiring and the demons didn\'t seem to be stopping.
\"I hope Aivon\'s alright...\"
\"Jessica, right now, I\'m more worried about us.\"
One of the demons raised an axe suddenly a look of surprise came over him as he fell foward, dead. The demons looked around, wondering what had caused this when another demon fell, and looked as if he was also struck dead. Suddenly, They saw him, a man dressed in all black, a scarf that hung as if by magic and a pendant that glowed a dark aura.
\"Insignifacent worms...\"
The demons seeing this new threat tried to attack, but the man\'s movements were too fast for them. One by one they were struck down, until the last remaining few had the sense to flee.
\"Pathatic.\"
\"You! What the heck are you doing here?\" John yelled.
\"Ahh... I came looking for you and saw you needed a helpping hand. More importantly-\"
\"It\'s finished...\" Aivon had returned, his cloak and gloves on. \"My father is no more.\"
\"Aivon that\'s great!\" Jessica said joyous.
\"Now then... I must tell you something. To the east of here lives a seer... she can help you.\"
\"And why should we listen to you?\" John said, raising his blade.
\"Because, she can help you with your problem John. She knows why all this began and what has happened... perhaps even about your own father too.\" John gazed at him in wonder, but saying no more, the man walked away and vanished into the darkness.
