Ch. 4
New Beginnings
“I can’t believe I woke up late!!! I am never late!!” gasped Ariana as she threw some clothes on.
She woke up late and it was the first day of school too. She quickly ran down the stairs and grabbed something for breakfast.
“Have a good day honey!” replied her mother.
“Bye mom!”
She ran outside and got into her own car, which was a beetle. Normally she didn’t speed, but today was an exception. One good thing about Brensdale was that it wasn’t that big. The town was mostly centered around the schools, especially the university. So it only took her 5 minutes to get to the ‘busy’ side of town. She just prayed she wasn’t late for her first class was with Ms. Calista Dawson.

“Hey there Ariana!” waved Francine as Ariana jumped out her car.
“Hi! I have 5 minutes to get to my first class Francine so I am in a hurry.”
“Ha ha! Yeah me too but I just wanted to say hi. I have my first design class of the day so I’ll see you later.”
“Yeah see you.”
Both girls ran in different directions. Ariana was relieved that her class was in the building next to the parking lot she parked in. Majority of the students were rushing into classes as well as Ariana finally rushed through the door of her first class. Most of the seats were taken up except for the front ones. Even though Brensdale was a university, it still gave the feel of a college for each class, which sat 50 at the maximum. Ariana sat in the desk right in front of the professor’s desk. Only Ms. Dawson was not there yet.
“Hey, did you hear? This new professor is one hot babe and she’s only 26.” commented one of the guys in the class.
Ariana recognized that voice. Every university had his and her hottie and Freddie Parker was him. She had to admit though that she once had a crush on him, but that infatuation quickly faded when she realized what a jerk he was. But that didn’t stop him from making all the ladies swoon with his blue-black hair and royal blue eyes. He even had his own fan club. Freddie had asked his question to another person considered to be in the In Crowd, Douglas Renauld. At least the man had a conscious. He was nice to look at too, with hazel eyes and dirty blonde hair. What made him popular was his family. His family was one of the richest people in the area. The owned a chain of hotels in the state.
“It is intriguing that someone close to our age would have a PhD. I hope she’s nice.” Douglas, or Doug said.
It seemed as if everyone heard about Calista Dawson. Well, when someone lived in a small town, news was bound to move quickly. Where was the professor, Ariana thought? Her stuff was there so Ariana hoped she would return soon. Finally, a minute before class started Calista walked in. Ariana liked her ‘teaching attire’ immediately. Calista was wearing a pale green blouse with a gold vest and skirt. Her hair was up in a messy bun, yet it looked elegant with ringlets spiraling down. She had a notebook in her hand and was writing something down before placing it on the desk before standing up and grinning.
“Good morning everyone. I do apologize for running late but I just got news of a new arrival into my class. In fact he’ll be here pretty soon. He just got here the other day from Ireland and something happened with his class schedule. To make a long story short it was just one big mess, but now everything is sorted out. So before he arrives let me introduce myself. My name is Calista Dawson and this course was English 2310 or World Literature: Medieval Times to the Renaissance. Now let me check my roster to make sure everyone else was here. Marie Aston. . .”
It only took several minutes to go through the whole class. Calista was impressed that everyone was there, except for the new student.
“Excuse me, Ms. Dawson?” interrupts a lady with curly brown hair and glasses on.
“Yes?”
“I have the new student here.” replied the lady.
“Oh yes! Thank you very much.” grinned Calista.
“All right. Go on now.” the lady encouraged someone outside the door.
“Thanks.” replied an masculine voice with a rich Irish accent.
Ariana’s eyes and mouth almost popped open when a 6’ young man came in. It wasn’t the fact that he was gorgeous, but she felt an instant spark lit up within her. It was almost similar to what she felt when she first saw Calista, only this one made her felt like she was going to melt. The gentleman before her had wavy red hair and the greenest eyes she ever saw. And they were looking at her. Calista resisted the urge to grin at Ariana and the new man. She knew exactly what was happening for she felt the same emotion for someone else at another time. She wonder how long it would be before Ariana realized what was happening.
“Welcome sir. Is your name Jacob Gillespie?” Calista asked, snapping Ariana out of her reverie.
The young man also seemed to snap out of it.
“Yes ma’am.” Jacob replied.
“Okay, please take a seat.”
Jacob took a seat right next to Ariana. Ariana concluded that this semester was going an exciting one. She just hoped it wasn’t too challenging for she felt that this semester would change her greatly. And her instincts were never wrong.

A/N: Hehehe, I love surprising my characters. I won\'t tell you what exactly just happened between Ariana and Jacob. You\'re going to have to figure that out for yourself. It really is easy but there is more too it. You\'ll find out later. Please review!
