Thoughts

Mark stared at Liz as his shift ended dreaming he could be the patient she was currently attending to. Her hands were against the man’s chest feeling for broken ribs. ‘What I would give to have her touch me like that…’ Mark thought. Sighing, he turned to remove his lab coat and headed for his locker.

“Hey, wait up Mark!” he heard, as he turned down the long hallway. Glancing behind him he saw Liz exit the exam room and jog towards him. His eyes dropped to her breasts, lightly bouncing to her movements. 'Stop that,' he thought, ‘what’s wrong with you today?’ Clearing his throat, he flashed Liz a bright smile.

“Hey, Liz, what’s up?” he said, trying to calm his nerves and avoiding glancing down towards her breasts.

“Umm...I was kinda wondering...” Liz started, looking down at her feet, “would you be interested in going out for supper with me Saturday night?” she rushed, wanting to ask her question before she lost her nerve.

Mark, unable to hid his shock exclaimed, “Ah, what??”

“Oh, forget it, I knew this would be a bad idea…” Liz said, quickly embarrassed.

“No, no, no, you totally misread me. I’d love to go out with you Saturday. Should I pick you up at 8:00?” Mark said, silently kicking himself for his display of stupidity.

“Sure, that sounds good. I though we could swing by Pino’s for pizza and maybe watch a movie afterwards?” Liz said shyly.

“That sounds great, Liz. I’ll see you Saturday.” Turning, Mark headed for the locker rooms, smiling widely to himself. Unable to resist, he turned to watch Liz walk away. She was so cute when she was nervous. He still couldn’t believe she was the one who asked HIM out. Maybe he had been worrying for nothing; maybe she was just really shy and hadn’t noticed him romantically before. Hopefully, all would go well Saturday and he didn’t royally screw it up.

Elizabeth sighed as she leaned against her apartment door. ‘God, that’s it, could this day get any worse! I can't even get into my apartment! ’ she exclaimed, sighing as she heard her two friends going at it through the door. ‘Forget it, I’m going for a walk to clear my head,' Liz thought. She had just got off a 24 hr shift and she was exhausted. She lost a child today and the only thing she wanted to do was soak herself in a nice warm bubble bath and then drift off to sleep. However, her plans had quickly faded away as she approched her apartment door and could hear Lucy's load moans through the walls. So, she was stuck right outside the door of her apartment, exactly 10 feet from her bath tub, lisening to Lucy and Robert having sex. Great, just great. This day could not possibly get any worse.

Well, except for what happened with Mark today. She couldn’t believe she had actually walked up to him and asked him out! She didn’t know what had come over her. The entire time she had been nervous and could feel her face flushing. For a second she thought he was going to turn her down and she wished the ground would just open up to swallow her whole. She had already started cursing Mrs. Acheson, but, when Mark said yes, she couldn’t help but feel happy. She was going on a date with Dr. Mark Clarke!

Okay, granted, she wasn’t totally into him, ‘but that will take some time,’ she thought. ‘He’s a totally cool guy, and great with kids. He’s so sweet and he has that gorgeous smile, stop thinking this isn’t going to work already! You haven’t even gone out on one date with him yet and already you think this isn't going to work!’ she angrily self lectured.

Deciding to take a walk to clear her head ad waste some time to let her friends finsh up, she headed for the park. The streets were beautiful this time year. She loved the way the snow lightly draped the gardens and everyone had Christmas lights out, creating a cozy, festive atmosphere.

Turning the corner towards the local park, she noticed a car shop across the street with both garage doors open. A young man, about mid to late twenties, rolled out from under a car parked outside one of the doors. She looked at his figure and wondered how he kept from freezing. He only had a thin sweater on and working gloves covered his hands, no jacket, but man, that sweater fit him perfectly. Those jeans framed his ass pretty nicely as weel. She looked closely and noticed how the sweater clung to his nicely toned arms. ‘Stop that’ she thought, ‘what’s wrong with you!’ she said to herself, probably a little too loudly. Ever since Lucy had come to visit, she had been continuously thinking about sex. Glancing back at her mysterious man she couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to have him doing to her the same things she watched Robert doing to Lucy.

Jolting herself out of her little fantasy, she noticed the guy had stopped what he had been doing and was staring back at her.

‘Oh my God!' she thought, 'He caught me looking at him!’ Mortified, she walked quickly to the park, avoiding eye contact.

Matt watched as the pretty red head girl headed quickly in the opposite direction. Chuckling to himself, he realized she HAD been talking to herself. ‘I wonder what was going through her mind. She looked like a deer caught in headlights when I made eye contact with her’ he thought.

“Hey Matt, you done with that Chevy yet?” Tony yelled from the back of the garage.

“Yeah, should be done if a few, just gotta check out the break pads and them I’m done” Matt answered, forgetting about the pretty girl.

“Good. I gotta Lincoln coming in about 15 minutes. Think you can give her an oil change?” Tony asked, wiping his oily hands on a dirty cloth as he walked up front.

“Sure thing boss” Matt saluted to his friend, who threw the dirty cloth at him.
“So how you doing bro. That little shit was a piece of work, hunh” Tony stated, referring to the little blond kid that had bugged him a few days back.

“My brother was a legend around her, Tony, people are interested” Matt shrugged, trying to make it seem like it didn’t bug him to talk about his brother.

Not fooling Tony for a second, he decided to change the subject. “So are you ready to be the godfather for my son?” he jokingly asked, as he headed back into the garage.

Tony’s wish, Allison, was 8 months pregnant. Basically, she could be giving birth any day now since the doctor’s had told her she was having a few complications that could lead to an early delivery.

Matt, knowing exactly what his friend was doing, smiling saying, “God no, if this kid turns out to be anything like you we’ll have to stock up on fire extinguishers.”

Ignoring the growl coming from Tony, Matt laughed as he got back under the car he was working on.

“Oh please don’t bring up that incident again, Matt” Alison said sarcastically, smiling as she wobbled down the stairs from the office.

“We don’t want Tony burning down any more kitchens until this baby is old enough to dial 9-1-1” Allison smiled as she went over to her husband and gave his a soft kiss on his scruffy feet.

Allison was barely 5 feet tall while her husband was a little over 6 feet which made the act a little hard to accomplish, but Tony bent a little to help his wife out. She was a cute blong, with baby blue eyes and rosy cheeks, but it was her sensitive and generous nature that Matt knew, Tony loved most.

They had met at a football game back in high school where Allison had been one of the cheerleaders and Tony a bench warmer but the two had hit it off from the start. Six years later, they were married, and 2 months later, she found herself pregnant with her first son.

Matt looked at the couple and felt a twinge of regret. Ever since the accident he didn’t allow himself to get close to anyone. He just couldn’t bare the thought of loosing someone else. His brother had been his best friend and his death had left his completely lost. If it hadn’t been for his friends, Tony and the others, he didn’t know what he would have done. His life was finally getting slightly back on track and he couldn’t afford to screw it up now.

Thinking back to the girl he saw walking down the street early, he sighed, ‘she sure was cute, though’ he thought.
