Artifical Rose

Chapter 5 ~Diagnostics~

“Through the mending of flesh and steel, shall you become one...”

The sound of hydraulics could be heard as the metallic doors parted to reveal the silhouette of a woman, she stepped out of the elevator and into a hotel lobby. Her very presence ignored as those around her went along with there daily routines, even though she was clad in a skin tight black outfit and a large suitcase held in her left hand. It was as if they couldn’t see her... then again she no longer existed in there world. Sashiko’s eyes scanned the people before her as she made her way to the main entrance, the black suitcase held tightly in her hand as she exited. Her eyes adjusted to the bright sunlight as she made her way down mainstreet. Sashiko’s raven black hair glistened in the sunlight as she passed unhindered through the packed sidewalks of San Francisco. Four blocks away, in a somewhat derelict warehouse inwhich dozens upon dozens of wooden or steel crates were stacked upon each other, a black van rolled in silently as it stopped. A small transmitter arose from an opening on the top as the occupants inside sent out a signal. A Caucasian man dressed in simple street clothes spoke into a cell phone as he sat a cafe. “I have her sighted...she’s proceeding to point”. Within the black van, Doctor Samantha Evans smiled to herself as could now see Sashiko through multiple cameras that lay around South San Francisco, the screens that lay infront of her gave her multi angled pictures of Sashiko. “Does the sonic stealth seem to be working Daniel?” Daniel paused as the waiter walked up and placed his order of Coffee and Danish down upon the table, he smiled and nodded his thanks as the waiter walked away. He would wait a few more moments before he would speak again. “ Yeah it seems to be working... if it weren’t for those nanos I’d probably not see her, the people around her aren’t even paying attention... then again if it weren’t for that device implanted within her... I’d bet she wouldn’t get ten feet without someone staring or trying to pick her up...You did a nice job on that suit Samantha... why don’t you wear something like that?” Daniel could only smile as he sipped his coffee, as he awaited the eventual snapping comment from her. Samantha rolled her eyes as she swiveled in her chair to analyze a few readings and made sure the chip which kept Sashiko under there control was still functional. Electronic mind control was still in it’s embryonic stages of development, but if Project: Death Angel worked... the company would reap its rewards. “Grow up Daniel... once your done stuffing your face, make sure you follow her at a distance...wouldn’t want the nanomachines to distort her resonance field...” Daniel finished off the Danish as he took another sip of his coffee, “Sure no problem, almost done here... and anyway she’s almost to the house....I’ll get a seat somewhere outside and wait for confirmation.” Daniel turned off the cellphone as he drank the rest of the coffee and stood up. Grabbing the newspaper by his side he made his way after Sashiko, her lithe form etched etched his mind.

Sashiko scanned the four story brick building that stood before her, though it was in the programming that drove her forward as she headed inside. The lobby was empty as she began to accend the stairs, the sound of her boots could be heard with each step... with each step she came closer to achieving her objective.

As the sun shone down upon the bustling cosmopolitan, its rays warming that spring day. Daniel finally reached the brick building inwhich Sashiko had entered a mere five or so minutes ahead of him, his blue eyes washed over the building as he shook his head. “Well this is going to be interesting...” and with that he entered, his eyes adjusted to the underlit lobby as he sat on a plastic coated chair, the sound of strained leather and plastic was heard as his weight was fully placed on it. Now he would only have to wait for the sign before he would continue.

The metal door that lead to the roof opened as Sashiko stepped through, the wind blew her hair behind her as she noted her location. She heard the sounds of San Francisco rise into the air as she made her way to the right, a perfect view to the park...

The laughter of running children spread thoughout the park, as there
mothers or fathers talked among themselves, about the going ons of there lives. For today was the date for the annual park bazaar, inwhich people would gather to buy or sell there wares. The event itself had started a few hours ago and there were still people filing into the large park to get there hands on whatever striked there interests. Among the crowd a man dressed in a leisure suit walked among them, an bright red apple in his hand. Yet he wasn’t going to eat it... for it served another purpose.

Atop the building Sashiko kneeled on one knee as she openned the
suitcase to reveal her weapon of choice. The PSG - 1 lay in three parts as she began to fasten them together, her eyes would glance over to the park from time to time as her hands quickly put the rifle together. Sashiko felt the cold steel of the silencer as she screwed on the final piece, her eyes taking in her surroundings before she lay down to take her firing position as she now saw the world through the clearness of her scope. In that way she felt as if she were no longer apart of this world, but as an observer who could deal death from a distance... then again Sashiko could no longer feel a thing for she lay under the control of the chip that was implanted within her spinal cord. The man in the suit strode casually through the crowded bazaar as his eyes glanced from side to side behind his dark shades, a smile fell upon his face as he saw the perfect place...

Sashiko looked through the scope as she could see the people with ease, her view bounced from one side to another as she looked for her target, a hunter with a single goal in mind... though if others were to get in her way they would also meet the same fate. As her view skipped from one person to another she finally caught sight of her target near the back of the park, her trigger finger hovered as she prepared to fire.

The man slowly made his way through the crowd to the park benches near the back, though the area was slightly crowded it would still serve it’s purpose as he stopped. His eyes scanned the distant skyline, as his surroundings were slightly darkened by his sunglasses and the glare of the sun in its mid afternoon arch, though his search would be in vain as he placed red apple on the corner. He stood there for awhile before placing his hands into the coat pockets as he disappeared into the crowd, though he didn’t notice the child that had eyed the apple and was making his way towards it. His hands stretched out as he prepared to grab the apple.

Sashiko relaxed her body as she prepared to fire, the man had left the target. Though it was an apple and not a living mark, from this range it would require a great skill in marksmanship to hit and with the chaost sut surrounded the mark it would test her limits for patience, for a clear line of sight was required. Her emotionally void eyes watched as the child prepared to reach up and grap the apple, at that moment her finger which had been hovering pressed down upon the trigger. Sashiko watched as the red apple splattered, some of it against the child as he stood there trying to rationalize the situation with his limited experiance, though in the end his face would cringe as he began to cry, his parents unaware of what really transpired for they didn’t see the apple and the events that would cause it to spread across there child, though they would comfort him and wipe away the mess to the best of there ability. Sashiko watched in a mild fascination as she pulled herself away from the scope, her hands quickly travelling upon the rifle as she began to place it piece by piece into the suitcase that lay be her side. Sashiko arose with the packed suitcase in her hand as she made her way towards the door, her hair slighlty fluttering in the soothing breeze as she would open the door and quickly descend the stairs. As Sashiko reached the bottom of the stairwell her gaze fell upon Daniel, her eyes never leaving him as he returned the gaze. A slight smile appeared upon his face as he watched Sashiko near him, ever since he laid eyes upon her that first day in the laboratory he had been envoked by her exotic beauty. Though now it was an obsession as his eyes washed over her figure. Sashiko stood before him as she brushed a few strands of hair behind her ear, as she looked up into Daniel’s face to study his features his cellphone rang as she diverted her gaze and gripped the briefcase in her hand to gather what thoughts she had. Daniel picked up the cellphone as he still watched Sashiko as she peered beyond the glass doors and out to the world that passed them by. “Daniel here...” He listened intently as he slightly nodded before closing the cellphone, his eyes washed over Sashiko as he motioned towards the front door. They both left and soon there forms were lost among the others that crowded the sidewalks.
