Demon Love Story

Training

Hours later, Christian woke up to find himself staring into the jade green eyes of a small boy. Christian sighed and spoke to the boy.

“Heart…do not look over me when I sleep…”

The boy continued to stare and Christian sighed again.

“Have you eaten my Love?”

The boy shook his head. “Then I’ll –”

Heart pressed his mouth over Christian’s and the blonde’s eyes widened. He sat up when the boy was through.

“Don’t change your mind Heart. You don’t need this life.” He got up and walked towards the bathroom. “I’ll get you breakfast after I bathe.”

Later, after feeding what turned out to be a very hungry Heart, Christian went through the process of teaching the tidbits about the things in his chambers. He showed Heart all the oils he used for massage and what their uses were.

“This is Apricot Kernel Oil, I use it when the client is stressed…Olive oil also helps stress and it’s cheap and in good supply!” Christian laughed as Heart sniffed at the bottle. “And lots of aroma therapy oils. That one is lavender. Go ahead, smell it.”

Heart took a big wif and ne fel fell down as the concentrated oil overpowered his senses. Christian laughed and took the bottle.

“It’s very strong in the bottle like that.” He showed him another bottle of amber liquid. “This is sweet orange oil, and here,” He pointed at a darker colored bottle. “Is ginger and orange.”

Heart shunned those for better smelling basil, sweet pea, lilac, and rose oils. Christian rolled his eyes and took the bottles from him.

“Those are only for our special clients or just me. Or you now, since you’re here.”

“Who’s special?”

“His majesty and any other nobility.”

Heart frowned and put the bottles down. He went over to the candles next. Christian raised his brow. Was it just him, or did Heart seem to be jealous about something.

Christian came behind the boy and motioned to all the candles. “I use these when I feel like it. Sometimes the candles are better that the big chandelier and the lamps…”

“Why is that man special?”

“Huh? Who?”

“The one who left this morning? Why not the man with all the tattoos? Or the ‘ tra trader.”

“What?” Christian turned the boy around. “What are you talking about? The Prince?”

Heart’s eyes gleamed with the flicker of an intelligence that was beyond his countenance. “Do you think he loves you or something? That he will take you from all this to be his royal concubine?”

“What!?” Christian led Heart to his room. “Stay in there you little beast. How dare you! I’m your guardian now! You can’t speak to me that way!”

He pushed Heart inside and closed the curtain roughly. He crossed the room in a huff and went to lounge in the pillowed space of his bath.

How dare he…and how the hell does a little boy know a word like “concubine”…

**

In his room, Heart stared at the curtain, unsure of how he’d gotten back in his room or why Christian was mad at him. All he’d done was ask about the oils…

Tears began to flood his eyes. Why was Christian mad? What if he decided that he didn’t want to keep him?

Heart began to cry in earnest and curled up on is bed.

Maybe things would be better later.

“Master…I don’t believe it’s a good idea for you to talk through the construct until he’s a little older. Reactions like the one ‘Your Intended’ gave him, might…alter or break the relationship you’re trying to let seed.”

“Hm…” Huge black wings flexed and relaxed as the one called ‘Master’ crossed his arms. He waved the image of the crying boy out of the scrying pool and turned to face his companion. “I don’t recall asking you.”

“As you wish.” The creature slithered from the room and closed the door. The brief intrusion of light into the room revealed a massive black creature that was the color of shadows at midnight.

It had ice blue slits for eyes, a cascade of snow white hair from its skull from which two spiraling obsidian horns protruded, and expansive black wings that were now neatly folded along the creature’s impressive back. In full demonic form the creature was over seven feet, but now stood at half size to accommodate the room.

It peered into the pool again, this time the waters swirled to reveal Christian gazing out of the window of his bathing room. The afternoon sun was sinking into the horizon and the breeze was blowing his hair.

“Christalia…” he murmured.

In a swirl of shadow, the demon transformed into the shape of a man wearing the trappings of nobility. Draped in blacks and deep purples, the demon gazed long fully at the pool again. He stretched out his hand and ghosted it over the surface of the water.

“Christalia...”

Christian decided wake Heart up a few hours before sun down. He wanted the boy bathed and back out of the way before his customers came. He went into the boy’s room and found him curled up and the bed, sucking his thumb.

Suddenly he felt very guilty for yelling at him.

The young blond sat on the bed and began stroking the little boy in his sleep. Heart was such a beautiful child. He couldn’t believe someone would just throw him away on the streets. Heart stirred and turned over in his sleep. Christian shook him gently.

“Heart, baby, wake up. It’s time to eat again.”

The boyned ned and curled up again. Christian decided to pick him and carry him downstairs. Maybe the noise of the mess hall would wake him up.

All the way downstairs, Heart whined and snuggled closer to Christian as various people stopped to pet him or remark on how cute he was. He didn’t like being touched and besides he was sleepy. Christian was ignoring his whines, so he began to cry instead.

Christian put him down.

“No.”

Heart looked at him with tears in his eyes. He reached up. “Christian!”

“No Heart! Stop it! You’re not a baby! Stop crying!”

Heart didn’t understand. Was Christian still mad at him? He began to pout as more fat tears began to roll down his cheeks. His whines turned into keens and his keens turned into wails and pretty soon the little boy was crying and screaming in the lobby of Madam Kitty’s Pleasure Palace wanting to be picked up.

Christian snorted and walked away from him. Heart stopped crying long enough to follow, but continued to cry and pull on Christian’s hand as he walked along.

“No Heart.” He knocked the boy’s hand away and continued to the mess hall.

By the time they made it there, Heart’s screams of protest had quieted to indignant sniffles. He sucked on his fist and whimpered as he stuck close by Christian. The young blond looked down at the boy and crossed his arms.

“Are you done with your tantrum? Or should I send you back upstairs without dinner?”

Heart sniffed and nodded, concentrating on the floor.

“If you’re going to stay here you’re going to need some training and I don’t just mean what I showed you today. Understand?”

Again, Heart nodded.

“Look at me when I talk to you Heart!”

The boy looked up and Christian felt his heart break. The boy’s eyes were red and his face was puffy. He was the portrait sorrow.

Christian caved and picked him up, rubbing his back and apologizing. Heart laid his head on the blonde’s shoulder and relaxed, content to be held.

At dinner, Christian held Heart with one arm as he ate, offering the boy little tidbits if he asked. Afterwards, Christian took the boy back upstairs and brushed his angelic hair.

“I noticed you this morning Heart. I hope you were learning.”

Heart flushed and looked down.

“There’s nothing to be ashamed of. I just hope you were learning.”

“I watched all night…” the boy whispered.

“Then you realize how I have to rush and set everything up for each customer. I have to make them believe I have been waiting for them all night. I mean, you’re young, but form now on you’ll be my helper. In charge o setting up and running baths for me. Alright?”

Heart nodded and Christian put the brush down. He hugged Heart from behind and kissed his neck, tickling him.

“Okay?”

Heart squealed and laughed until he was out of breath. Christian laughed with him too and nuzzled him.

“I think this’ll work out, you and me.”
