Flowers Under the Moon
Chapter 4: Little hope, Little courage
*~*~*~*
A small pool reflects the stars and the thumbnail of the moon above. The pool wavers as a woman comes towards it, shivering even though she has a cloak on. Rachel pulls back her hood, looking up at the moon and trying to hear what was following her. Most likely her twin brothers who only had the wish to torment her. ‘Oh blessed Luna, please help me against my brothers,’ she says with her eyes fixed on the moon. She moans softly in pain and falls to her knees as a small wound now becomes a bigger one.
A pair of eyes looks out from his hiding place, his eyes framed by the green leaves of the bush. As he hears the small moan, his brown eyes turn to where it came from and as his eyes wash over her body, he gets entranced. ‘I must have her,’ he thinks to himself. ‘If only for the reason that I wish to know her name.’ The bush softly rustles as he moves, Rachel giving it her full attention as she draws back an arrow on her bow.
“Who is there?” She asks as she tries not to show she is injured iywayyway. As Damascus shows himself, she lets her arrow fly noticing the vampiric Prince. He dodges it with grace fitting a warrior and with lightening fast speed, takes her bow and set of arrows from her. “Please—I do not,” her voice quivers in fear as she sees that she is at a severe disadvantage.
“I do not wish to hurt you,” he says softly as his cold hand touches her warm face. “Why is such a beautiful one so cold?” he asks as his eyes show truth and concern.
She shakes her head and only says “Brothers” before falling onto the riverbank unconscious. Damascus gently takes her into his arms, trying to see where she would have such an injury. Finally noticing deep slash marks on both of her legs in the shape of werewolf claws. He sighs softly and takes up her weapons as he hears a howl. Looking down at Rachel, the thought finally forms in his head. ‘Her brothers are werewolves and they are the ones who hurt her? Most unusual for them to be hurting their kin.’ He sighs and lifts her up gently, not wanting to hurt her anymore than she had already been hurt. He darks back into the bush as the two werewolf twins come onto the scene and draws his swords…
*~*~*~*
Rachel slowly blinks her eyes open. The pinks glow from the sky signals the sunset and fear starts to flow in her veins. At night is when everything comes out to play.
“Ah good, you are awake,” a silky female voice says from a chair in a dark corner. As she rises from the chair, the lights in the room flick on revealing a green haired woman with rainbow eyes. “The master wishes you to join him for dinner.”
“And if I refuse?” Rachel asks defiantly while she crosses her arms.
The woman chuckles icily. “Then I will drag you down by your hair. One does not refuse the master. You will eat with him or suffer the consequence. You have one hour to clean yourself up and get dressed.” She turns and walks to the door. “And do not worry about hiding the scars from before, they are already healed.” The woman crosses the room in what seems to be a single step, taking her face in her hands. She tries to fight, not being able to get away. “You are a fascinating creature my dear. Perhaps when the master is done with you, he will let me play with you a bit,” she ends with a grin, letting go and exit the room.
“Damascus will save me before that,” she says softly as a tear falls down her cheek. “He will.” She slowly starts to rock back and forth on the bed. Her tears start to fall quicker as it starts to rain outside.
*~*~*~*
The woman sighs softly as she goes back to the room. ‘Hopefully she will have changed by now. I do not really wish to hurt her . . . but it is what the master said to do.’ She opens the door and sees her standing there in a dark purple princess dress reliving nothing. “An excellent choice, Lady Winchester. The purple shows off your coloring,” the woman says as Rachel walks out with her head held highly. The woman closes the door behind Rachel and takes the lady into her arms, softly kissing her neck as Rachel tries to flee. “So warm,” the woman whispers into Rachel’s neck. “So full of life,” she whispers as she takes out her fangs and presses them against Rachel’s neck.
“Morgana!” A male’s voice cries out as she releases Rachel who falls to the ground in some shock. An albino male of no more than sixteen comes running up to the pair. “What were you thinking? The master would kill you on the spot if he felt you drinking from her!” He yells and gives no care that she is sitting right there.
“Excuse me for wanting fresh blood, Akastus. You would too if you could smell how good she is…” She trails off as he grabs her around the neck and hits her head against the wood door.
“Do you have a death wish? I have combed you for over forty years and you die because all you wanted was a little bit of fresh blood? Careless woman,” Akastus growls at her as he lets go of her neck. She falls to the floor as he picks up Rachel, straightening out her dress as they walk a bit. “You should be glad that I came instead of the Master, little one,” he whispers in her ear. “My name is Akastus, as you heard, but listen more carefully now,” he says as they slow down in walking.
“I am listening if you have something to tell me.”
He chuckles lightly. “That I do, little one. That I do,” he softly says as he pulls out a dagger, putting it near her ankle. “Now, what he wants to do with you is just to use you. And try to get more information out of you as well.” She starts to say something but he shakes his head no to hush her. “There is a window that you can make your escape out of, but I am not sure if you will get very far.” Eventually they come to the doors to the dining hall, Rachel’s eyes now showing fear. “Do not worry my dear,” he says too softly for the guards to hear, “you will be fine. May Luna protect you,” he says and touches her forehead as she turns towards the guards. She gulps as the doors open with Akastus walking away.
