White Day - Part 3
A/N: Wow, I\'ve gained a small following. Yes, I do plan on putting up a bunch of other things, from short stories to one-shots, to other series like this one. The King\'s Concubine was actually my pet project until interest in this one erupted quite quickly, and so after this I think I will be finishing up my neglected stories. There\'s a lot of other things I can not give away yet, but I\'m glad you all are asking the right questions!!! Thanks again for the support! Work, work, work!
Chapter 50 – White Day – Part 3
The waiting room of the local hospital for the emergency room was filled with anxious faces. Mr. Taiikuka had driven like a maniac behind the ambulance that carried Fuji’s body, her lifeless face drained of all color. It came as a shock to them all that her heart was still beating, though her breathing was quiet and slow. Yuki, Shinwa, Shai, and Kyoei had piled into the small car and feared for their own lives as corners were taken sharply. Mr. Taiikuka was not going to lose sight of the ambulance. Amatsu still had not been found, though Kyoei continued to page him.
Mrs. Chenbaro and Mr. Tennison also sat in the waiting room, hands clasped together almost like lovers. If Shai had not been so heavily sedated she would have noticed. Shai had been hysterical when they entered the emergency room. The doctors had given her something that was safe for her and the baby that kept her calm, and slightly out of it. She sat in a chair next to Yuki and Shinwa and waited.
Mr. Taiikuka was pacing, the police were out looking for Kago and Amatsu, and no doctors were coming out to tell them the condition of the eldest of the three girls. Every time the doors swung open the whole group would jump and look to the door, but it was never anyone to come and speak to them. Every time it was a patient on crutches, or a doctor to see another family. Mr. Taiikuka had the strongest urge to pick something up and start breaking things.
“Where is she?” Amatsu burst through the doors of the emergency room and over to the large group.
“What happened?” Yuki asked in turn, jumping up from her seat, surprising the drugged Shai who needed to lean on Kyoei for support. “Did you find Kago?”
Amatsu shook his head solemnly. “No,” he said. “I could not find him anywhere. He lost me in the park; he knew more shortcuts than I did.”
Yuki sighed, and she was unsure of how she felt. She wanted Kago to pay for what he did to Fuji, she hated him, loathed him, but he had been her childhood friend. He had been the one to pick her up when she had fallen the way only a man could. She was losing everything around her, fast.
Mrs. Chenbaro stood up and walked over to Amatsu, recognizing him as the deejay from the Christmas party, and knowing for the first time that this was Fuji’s boyfriend. He expected many things, but he did not expect what happened next. “My baby!” she cried, and suddenly brought Amatsu into her embrace. “What did he do to my baby?”
Amatsu soothed her, and everyone stared at the woman shocked at her outburst. She was clinging to Amatsu as if he could bring Fuji back from whatever Hell she was in, and he felt as helpless as a newborn kitten.
“Mrs. Chenbaro?” Every head turned lightning quickly to the doctor who stood in the doorway to the emergency room. He stepped out and walked over to the group, a bit overwhelmed with how many people had shown up. “Fuji’s alive,” were the first words out of his mouth once he had come closer over. There was a collective sigh of relief, but Mrs. Chenbaro knew that there was more to come. “He just barely missed the femoral artery in her leg, and did enough damage in her shoulder that it may leave her paralyzed. She’s lost a lot of blood, and she needs a transfusion to give her a fighting chance, but she is a rare blood type.”
“I can do it,” Mr. Taiikuka stepped up, standing in front of the entire group. “She and I share the same blood type.”
The doctor gave a short nod, spending as little time discussing the dire need as possible. “Follow me,” the doctor insisted, and turned back towards the emergency room.
The doctor and Mr. Taiikuka disappeared behind the door in hopes of saving Fuji’s life. Yuki’s knees buckled and she collapsed onto the floor, her sobs racking her body. What could she do to save her friend? How could she keep her from this destruction?
The doors to the hospital opened from behind them and three police officers came in. Everyone looked to them for hopes of news of Kago. Two of the police officers were the same officers who had questioned the group on Kago’s actions; the third officer was none other than Officer Pop, looking tough and curt.
Officer Pop’s eyes went straight to Amatsu and the rest happened in slow motion. She pulled her handcuffs from her waistband, gripping onto Amatsu with a strength incredible for a woman her stature, and started slipping the cuffs onto his wrists, shackling him to what was soon to become his new jewelry for a while. “Inperiaru Amatsu, you are under arrest for the murder of Yasuragi Kago. You have the right to remain silent…”
No one spoke, no one even moved. They watched Amatsu struggle, they watched him deny his involvement in this murder, but the police were not listening. It took all three police officers to restrain Amatsu.
Yuki’s head reeled, the blood rushing too quickly to cover her brain. She was fighting to breathe, fighting to understand, and then her whole world went black.
