Chapter 45
After exercising and a shower, Luo had set off to visit Rick. It'd been nice for the most part, even if it had been heavier on the TV watching than he'd have liked. At least the casts didn't put a dent on the blond's sexual appetite; they had done plenty to satisfy that bit, and the Korean had gotten some exercise on the guy's weight bench.
It had felt rather awkward to help the guy out with bathing, but he guessed that was mutual, and it wasn't like he could deny it. And then he got a phone call during it, with Takuya all excited. Apparently, Kyun had brought the idiot nutcase in, and the Japanese was convinced he had Ramesh wrapped around his little finger. That was probably a victory of optimism over realism, but Luo guessed what had happened was an improvement of their situation anyway.
However, Takuya had also been talking about that Ramesh might try to kill Rick, and that was more unsettling. However badly the blond mechanic might be getting along with the others - not that the Korean blamed anyone for that situation - it was still safer for him with them, so he had tried to convince the guy to move, just for a couple of days. Rick had given him the 'Maybe' approach, but at least had agreed to come along that evening.
When they were ascending the stairs - rather slowly, due to the cast on Rick's leg - Luo couldn't fail to notice a few stains of blood on the steps, and his worries increased when he saw them lead to their apartment. Who had been hurt, and why hadn't anyone told him about it? Hopefully, whoever it was would be okay, and some answers provided. If only those idiots would stop going out alone! What was so hard about sticking together?
Then again, Luo wasn't all too sure he wanted to raise the issue. He didn't want anyone to demand that he had company when he went out. Besides, if people getting hurt and Takuya yelling at him didn't stop Kiyoshi from going out, he doubted more lectures would affect anyone. So with a sigh, he knocked on the door.
It didn't take long at all for the sound of the door unlocking. It slid open soon after and the small purple-haired guy peeked out, flashing a bright smile as soon as his eyes landed on Luo. “You're back! I was beginning to wonder about you...” With an odd glance at Rick, he stepped aside to grant them entry. “And... You've brought a friend...”
With a quick look over at the blond, the Korean realised his companion was nervous. He gave Rick's shoulder a pat, then stepped inside and smiled at Julian. "No need to worry about me. What has happened here while I've been away... Nothing too bad, I hope?"
“Nobody's seriously hurt, I don't think. The girl attacked Mr. Vilmiss in the courtyard and gave him a mean looking cut, but he won't let me look at it, so I guess it's okay.” He closed the door behind them and locked it. There was a proud glimmer in his eyes as he continued. “From what I hear, she would have done a lot worse if Takuya wasn't there to save him.”
Luo sighed. More of the running around alone bit. At least not completely alone, although he was glad there was no Ramesh involvement there. If that guy had been there, the Korean doubted Takuya's help would've amounted to much. "Good to hear we're looking out for each other," he finally added with a sigh, then turned to Rick. "What's the problem?"
Rick blinked at him, appearing surprised at the question. He frowned and shrugged as he averted his gaze and then kicked off his shoe, leaning on his crutches. “I don't know what you're talking about.”
Quirking a curious brow, Julian looked back and forth between them. “... Has something happened between you two?”
It was a bit confusing that the blond seemed so bothered about something. The Korean tried to meet the guy's gaze, but that only made Rick turn away. The purple-haired guy didn't seem to know about anything yet, which surprised Luo a bit, since he'd have expected Kyun to complain about that. Perhaps this would go easier than he had feared at that time. "Yeah," he responded simply, not sure how welcome an elaboration would be for either of the other two guys.
“Oh, alright. Well supper isn't ready yet, but there's ice cream in the freezer!” He smiled again and turned to hop onto the couch. “I haven't a clue what the others are doing, but I'm sure they have plenty to talk to you about.”
Rick wobbled a bit and headed slowly off towards the bathroom, not glancing at either of them along the way. “Great, I can't wait to see those jolly fucks again. I'm going to fix my hair.”
Seemed the blond wasn't all too thrilled about his friends, but that was expected. Couldn't expect everyone to get along just because he was sleeping with Rick. He gazed over towards the couch and quickly identified the cause of Julian's choice of direction; he and Kyun were sitting together, embracing each other. Thankfully the other couch was free, so Luo went over there and had a seat - this left the question of Choi's whereabouts, though.
Julian grinned and considered Luo for a moment as he wriggled up against Kyun. “Don't worry, I won't ask for the juicy details, but you and Rick? How on Earth did that happen? I thought he was straight! I mean, he really spares no expense in making derogatory comments about anyone else who's even remotely gay.”
With a shrug, Luo gazed over at the other two. As expected, Kyun didn't seem all too thrilled, but with the purple-haired youngster near, he stayed calmer than what was usual for him. What to respond, though? Well, some parts of this was already known by several people anyway. "It took a while to get him to admit his sexuality."
“There's absolutely no way you could be a bottom. You got him to admit he is? There should be an award for that.” The purple haired guy nuzzled Kyun's neck briefly before snickering at the idea. “I'm going to get something to drink. Can I get anything for you guys?”
Kyun wrapped his arms more tightly around the other fellow, giving him first a quick kiss on the lips, then another few on the cheek. "Beer for everyone?" He reluctantly released his hold around Julian, then gazed over at Luo.
What took Rick so long? The spiky-haired Korean hoped that hair fixing was what had been said, and that there wasn't anything more seriously wrong. He had no idea what that could be, though. Nodding at Julian, he leant back, trying to get comfortable. That top/bottom evaluation was kind of cute, even if it was incorrect - the purple-haired guy's personality probably made him a good fit for Kyun.
“Four beers coming right up.” Julian got up, and glanced toward the open balcony door. He called out toward it, “Are you thirsty, Mr. Vilmiss?”, only for his offer to be declined with a wave of a hand quickly appearing and disappearing again. He snickered lightly and wandered off to dig around in the kitchen.
It was about time. Rick noisily made his way out of the bathroom and collapsed on the couch near Luo with a loud sigh. He dropped the crutches at the floor by his feet and then grimaced in Kyun's direction. He said quietly, “Good, you didn't tell him.”
Luo saw that his Korean friend was about to say something, but the look in those eyes told him interrupting might be a good idea. He wrapped an arm around the blond, pulling his head closer so that he could part the lips in a kiss. Afterwards, he shifted closer, and with a slow blink his gaze settled on Kyun. Didn't seem to discourage the guy from talking, though. "He's mine, Rick," the smaller Korean hissed silently, "don't you ever forget that."
“Don't get your panties in a knot. I don't want your bitch. Just because you found one stupid little picture doesn't mean I ever really wanted him.” Rick sneered and glanced away uneasily. Still in denial apparently. Even when Julian returned carrying four cans, Rick only rolled his eyes and remarked, “Volunteering for waitress duties again, Jules?”
The purple-haired fellow frowned as he continued to hand the cans out. “Is that what I'm doing? Well, then I'll be expecting a generous tip.”
Looking over at that furious expression Kyun wore, Luo started wondering whether those two were setting each other off on purpose. His Korean friend got to his feet, growling as he made his way over. "You're making me hurt you, asshole!"
That wasn't looking good. The spiky-haired Korean knew that trying to stop Kyun with just an arm wouldn't work, so he'd either have to get up or figure something else out. Then again, he really didn't want to have to take sides between them. With a loud sigh, he claimed eye contact. "Leave my bitch alone, please. I'll keep him in line."
Julian went back to the couch and sat down, opening his own beer only to have to put his mouth over it when it fizzed too much. He smiled sheepishly, glancing between the two at odds. Still there was plenty of hesitation before he spoke up. “Kyun... Come sit back down with me, please. Compared to what Rick usually says, I'd say his words tonight have been an improvement.”
It seemed the mechanic had no comment, chosing instead to simply roll his eyes. Kyun gazed back and forth between the others, then crossed his arms. "Show me that keeping in line bit."
Luo chuckled. He should have expected that. He brought his hands around Rick's head, kissing him slowly and softly as he maneuvred Rick's legs up onto the couch with one of his own legs. When the blond was sitting on it, he retracted one hand without letting their lips part. Pushing Rick down on his back, he shifted to carefully straddle the guy's stomach. Finally breaking the kiss, he turned to Kyun. "Happy now?" Without waiting for an answer, he leant down to nuzzle the blond's neck, hoping that would reduce the desire for further arguing.
Rick seemed to be enjoying that, well distracted from what he had been nervous about before. He licked his lips and brought an arm up around Luo's shoulders. “Man, if this is keeping me in line, I'd better tick your friends off more often.”
“... I'm going to get something to spoil my appetite.” Julian got up before Kyun returned to the couch and started off to the kitchen.
With a slight pout towards the leaving guy, Kyun sat back down in the couch and started on the beer. That looked tempting, but Luo doubted the blond's position worked all too well for drinking beer, so he figured he'd better wait for a bit. Lifting his head to Rick's ear, the spiky-haired Korean whispered softly, "careful."
The blond's lip twitched as if he were trying not to laugh. He glanced over at Kyun but quickly turned his attention back to Luo. “You mean I can't even say anything about that? But it's sooo easy!”
It was hard not to be a bit amused by that, but Luo tried to keep his reaction down. Didn't want to upset his friend, but he couldn't help a widening smile. "I know," he finally whispered, "but while I'll ask him not to hurt you, I'm not going to fight him for your sake. That guy's my best friend." Maybe that was a white lie - Luo didn't tend to rank friendships like that - but it was close enough.
Rick considered Kyun again, quickly abandoning any ideas of fighting further. He smirked and ran his tongue over Luo's lips and then pulled the guy into a lazy, quick kiss. “What are friends for if you can't even make fun of them?”
“That's an awfully sentimental take on friendship.” Julian showed up again laughing, this time with an apple in his hand, and smiled warmly at the pair on the couch. He walked idly to the other sofa, taking his time to bite into the fruit, but still managed to stumble over something. When he landed in his previous seat, he frowned at the floor where he tripped. “Weird... Apples and beer don't really go well together.”
Watching the others for a bit, seeing Kyun shift closer and pull Julian's body to his, Luo considered the guy below him. "I hate to break it to you, One-Leg Pete, but you're not his friend yet."
“Oh shucks. And I've been trying so hard to make him like me!” Rick pretended to wipe a tear away and faked a dejected sigh. “Now what will I ever do? My life is so incomplete.”
Luo laughed lightly. "I'd suggest spreading your legs, but there's that lack of exhibitionism to consider." He let out a sigh, then smirked over at the two in the other couch. "Such a shame. We could have had great fun all four of us in a bed together."
The purple-haired fellow shook his head and hugged Kyun almost possessively. Though it was easy to tell by the faint grin on his face that he wasn't entirely serious. “Don't be silly! We couldn't possibly have a foursome here! That would be unbelievably rude of us to make Mr. Vilmiss hear it without at least inviting him first.”
Just as he started thinking of a response to that, a bedroom door opened, and Choi and Takuya approached. Choi gave him a confident smirk before he spoke. "Luo... I've had a word with Zach. You've got a phone call to make..."
