Begin Again

Melanie left for work before Ryan had even gotten up. It was a Friday which meant that she would be working a longer shift that usual and that she would not be coming back for lunch. Ryan stood and got ready then went downstairs and woke Sara and Kylie up. The two girls got ready rather quickly before Ryan took them into the back room. Both of them tensed.

“Settle down,” Ryan told them. The girls did not exactly listen. The back room was bad except on Sundays. He had locked the door again. “Sara sit over there, and Kylie sit here.” He pointed to the wall on the opposite side of the room for Sara and down by his feet for Kylie. “Kyles, understand this, just because Mel is here now doesn’t get you off the hook for what you did. She’s gone at the moment and won’t be back until later this afternoon. Sara doesn’t really need to be in here, but I guess this can just be a lesson for her as well.”

Kylie did not speak. He was going back to his old rules again, and she knew it. She made eye contact with him like she knew he wanted her to. Taking a deep breath, Kylie maneuvered herself to where she was sitting on her knees.

“Ryan?” Sara said trying to get his attention. He ignored her.

Ryan reached into his pocket and brought out a blindfold to put over Kylie’s eyes. She whimpered thinking about what would happen next, but he had other plans in mind. Telling the girls to stay put, he left the room.

“Kylie? I’m scared.”

“It’s okay. Everything will be fine. He’s just being a jerk. I knew he could never be nice. Even though Melanie is here, he’s still a bastard, you know?” Kylie replied.

“Don’t let him hear you say that. He’ll whip you.”

“He’s going to anyway, I’m sure. That’s probably what he went to get. If he didn’t, then I don’t know what he’s doing.”

Giving her a confused look, Sara inquired, “You don’t seem too bothered…”

“Why should I be? He’s going to do what he wants. There’s nothing we can do to stop it. We can’t say anything to Melanie either. If we do, it’ll just make things worse for us.”

“I know.”

“Don’t forget that today is Myra’s birthday. She’s eighteen now. That means that they’re going to get rid of her soon.”

“What do you mean get rid of her? They won’t kill her will they?”

Kylie shook her head. “No. They’ll sell her to a club or a private buyer. It’s stupid that all we are is property to them.”

“I know,” Sara agreed. “Kylie, I want to go home.”

“Don’t start that again. If you start crying again, then Ryan will beat you. That’s what happened last time, remember?”

Her eyes opening more widely, Sara sat completely up. “You remember that?”

“I’ve been remembering more lately, yeah. It’s weird. I just get quick flashes, but I think my memory is starting to come back. I’m not quite sure if I want it to.” Pausing for a moment before continuing, she asked, “Sara, did I do anything strange when I got back from the hospital. I remember Ryan hitting me really hard, but nothing quite before that.”

“He hit you?”

“Is that surprising?”

“No. I don’t know. Nothing happened really,” Sara lied. She did not want to tell Kylie about them kissing or even that she realized Kylie was developing an attraction for Ryan. She did not need to know those bits of information.

Nodding Kylie said, “Oh.”

At that moment, the door reopened and it was locked once again. Without warning, a sharp pain covered Kylie’s back and she fell forward strongly with tears beginning to flow. That was a different pain. There was no way that was just any normal whip. Trying to figure out what she had been hit with when another blow came. She screamed.

Sara yelled out, “Ryan, stop! Please stop!”

“Shut up or I’ll kick you out,” Ryan yelled back at her. “And after that, you’ll be next.”

Kylie knew the whole time that he was lying to her about not being angry. She did not want to believe it. She wanted him to be nice. She really had thought that since Melanie had been there, it all would change, but she was seriously wrong.

The blows kept coming until blood had been splattered all across the floor. Sara kept screaming for him to stop, and he finally did after Kylie almost passed out. He abruptly left the room. Sara ran over to her friend who was breathing heavily along the floor. “Kylie!”

It was hard for her to speak but she was able to tell Sara that she was fine. She knew Ryan would not let her stay like that. Greg would be in soon, and everything would be okay again. “What was it?”

“A stick but it had wire around it,” Sara replied cautiously.

“Oh…”

The door opened and Greg rushed in with towels. He pushed Sara back roughly and wrapped Kylie up in them after removing her torn shirt. “Dammit! Why does he have to be so rash? He’ll be lucky if you don’t develop hypovolemia.”

“Greg?” Sara spoke to him.

“It’s a drastic loss of blood.”

“Is she going to die?”

“God no. She’ll be fine,” he replied.

“Does she need to go to the hospital?” Sara was becoming frantic.

“I don’t think so. I just need to stop the bleeding.” He then spoke to Kylie. “Are you dizzy?”

Kylie nodded slightly. “I don’t feel so well.” At that moment she threw up nothing but stomach acid before passing out.

“Kylie!”

“Sara, she’s fine. She just passed out. Go back to your cell. Now.”

Sara slowly left as Greg picked Kylie’s body up carefully and brought her into his office. The bleeding stopped and he wrapped her torso up in bandages. Sighing, he shook his head. “I’m really going to have to have a talk with him.”

He left Kylie alone on the small cot that was in the office when he was sure that all was fine. She stayed the way she was the rest of the day as Ryan paced back and forth listening to a long lecture from Greg.

Ryan picked Melanie up from work, but instead of going back to the house, they went into Faribault and stayed at a hotel there. He did not need to put up with her as well. She could not find out about what he had done. Personally he thought that he was beginning to go insane. He was quiet that night thinking over what he was going to do.

A/N:
Yep. I'm not in a good mood completely today, so this is what happens. I'm feeling Ryan's emotions again. I'm moving out of this area. Too bad I never got to really meet him or get familiar with Elysian. Perhaps one day I'll come back and really study the place. At least I got to visit "Michael's Club." It's actually called Rick's Cabaret if you wanted to know. The guy who does the auditions and things there, his name is Mike. haha Is it a coincidence or not? I'll let you decide. heh R&R!
