P1: Lust and Fear

PART ONE, CHAPTER FOUR: Lust and Fear

When Lucas returned from his morning walk, he half expected to see David sitting on the front porch. He still expected it, after so many days of not seeing him there, and it still bothered him. David hadn’t been around at all since the day of Lucas’s breakdown. He hadn’t seen him in the halls, he hadn’t come over for tutoring, and he hadn’t shown up at the film lab. Lucas had tried to call him, once, but David hadn’t answered, and after that Lucas couldn’t find the courage.

He let himself into the house and sat down on the couch. He had thought, the first few days after his breakdown, that things would return to normal. That he would wake up and the events of the previous weeks would feel old and faded, that he would just get right back into his typical way of life.

He was sadly mistaken.

These last two weeks had managed to be worse than the ones before them. He spent most of his time thinking up ways to bridge that strange and horrible gap he’d created between himself and David. He’d realized very quickly that he’d been wrong about a lot of things. Sure, David was pushy and selfish, but he had also treated Lucas like a person, and he’d wanted to spend time with him. Lucas had never really known that before. His only point of reference was Anna. What bothered him the most, though, was the realization that he’d actually met another guy that might, just might, want him, if the kiss was any indication, and he had totally ruined it.

Lucas got up and paced around the living room. Since David’s disappearing act, Anna had started showing up again. Replacing him with her was like going from driving a Porsche to driving a scooter. She would show up at his house whenever she wanted, eat his food, talk on the phone, and make a giant mess. It was like David without the eye candy, or the occasional good conversation.

On top of all that, he still couldn’t sleep, and the sexual frustration was somehow worse. He equated to his sophomore year, during which he’d accidentally deleted his favorite pornography. Sure, he could remember it, but it just wasn’t the same as seeing it. He couldn’t even get off half the time anymore.

Sighing, he sat back down on the couch and put his hands over his face. He was exhausted, and he couldn’t stop thinking about David. Where the hell was he? He knew that he’d messed up, but he didn’t really think David was the kind of person to hide from problems. He figured he was more of an attack than a defense kind of guy. Apparently, he was wrong, because David had effectively gone into hiding.

He couldn’t stand it. He was miserable and alone and had one of the worst guilt trips on the planet, and to top that all off, he’d never been this horny in his entire life. Leaning back into a half laying position on the couch, he unbuttoned his slacks and slipped one hand inside. He was hard as a rock, like usual lately, and the simplest brush of his hand against his own cock was almost painful. He closed his eyes, shifting a little to get comfortable, and immediately that first dream about David sprang to mind, David’s mouth sliding around the head of his cock, his fingers doing amazing, painful things farther below. His forehead creased as he tried to concentrate, stroking himself with quick, steady motions. He let his mind wander around to the many, many fantasies he’d had over the last month about David, each more colorful, raunchy, and impossible than the last. His hand quickened, and he felt a strong, deep ache spread through his stomach. For a moment he thought that maybe this time…

He remembered the look on David’s face while he was yelling at him, the hurt and angry and violent. He remembered the way he looked right before he turned and walked out. His hard on was gone in an instant, and that agonizing lack of satisfaction settled down into his stomach like a weight.

Disgusted, Lucas sat up and buttoned his pants up. He stood up and went into the bathroom to wash his hands and brush his hair. He had to stop a few times, certain he was about to vomit, which he did all the time nowadays. When he was finished, he went back out into the living room and sat on the floor. He wrapped his arms around his knees and pulled them up to his chest before resting his chin on one.

“This fucking sucks.” He muttered to the empty house. He closed his eyes and pretended he was someone somewhere else. For a while it almost worked, until he was interrupted.

Anna knocked on the front door once before coming in. She was dressed up like crazy, in a slinky bright silver dress and matching shoes. Her hair was up around her head in a big blond curly mess. “Listen, I need a favor.” She told him. “My dad won’t let me go unless I have a date, so you need to get dressed and let him drop us off. You don’t have to stay or anything.”

Lucas stared at her as if she’d grown another head. “What the hell are you talking about?” he asked her, completely confused. “Why are you dressed like that?”

She threw hands in the air and shrieked in frustration. “The dance, duh? Go get dressed already.”

Lucas ran his hand over his face. The dance. There was no way he was going. “Anna, listen, I really am not up for this.”

She held out a small folded bill. “I’ll give you fifty bucks.”

“Sold.” He snatched the money and headed in his room. He needed that money. He’d planned on saving up the money from David’s tutoring to buy a car, but that had sort of fallen through. He quickly dug out the only suit he owned, black on black on black. He dressed in less that five minutes, pulled on his good black boots, and headed back out into the living room.

Anna stared at him as if he was the one was the extra head. She put her hands on her hips and wolf whistled. “Goddamn, Lucas, you clean up nice.”

Lucas rolled his eyes. “Come on, let’s go.” He took her arm and they headed out of the house. He figured he’d get dropped off with her, wait until her dad was gone, and then walk home. Easy fifty bucks.

It only occurred to him after they were in the car on their way to the school that this was probably a really, really bad idea.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lucas had decided a very long time ago that the universe did not like him. He suspected that Anna would act the way she always did when they were together around other life forms; she would ditch him the first possible chance she got, and probably insult or belittle him in the process.

When he got out of the car, he was busy thinking about the quickest route home while sitting avoiding being caught by Anna’s dad, so he completely missed the laughter and jokes made at the sight of him. They lived too close together for him to risk walking on the main roads, so he’d have to cut around back in order to avoid getting Anna into trouble. He waited as Anna got out of the car, then bid her father goodbye and let her lead the way up the stairs to the main doors. She immediately saw a cluster of her friends.

“Lucas, could you wait here?” she asked, and he nodded absently. He bounced away to stand beside the girls, leaving Lucas right in the middle of their boyfriends.

“Lucas Chase?” he looked up into the face of Eric West. He was the kind of guy that thought it was funny when little old ladies fell down, and usually would swerve his car to hit an animal rather than to avoid. He was smiling stupidly at Lucas. “Hey, I didn’t know you and Anna were, you know, together.” One of his friends laughed behind his hand, and Eric shot him a knowing look. “How long-“

“We aren’t together.” Lucas cut in. “She needed to fake out her dad, so she paid me to come along.”

“Are you sure you didn’t pay her?” Eric asked. “I mean, being seen with you and all.”

Lucas sighed and turned away. He passed Anna. “I’m going inside for a minute, then I’m out of here.”

She nodded. “We’re going in too.” She said and followed him. He glared down at his feet, biting back all the insults and snide comments he wanted to throw over his shoulder. He wasn’t paying attention at all to where he was going. Of course this would end in disaster.

He ran face first into the school door. His nose exploded a bright firework of pain, and he took two steps back, his hand coming up to catch the torrent of blood. Anna cringed away from him, hissing through her teeth, and the girls behind her all burst out laughing.

“Why are you always so clumsy?” Anna complained. “Goddamn, you’re embarrassing.”

He shot her a dirty look and pushed into the school, past the group of kids waiting to go into the gymnasium. He hurried down a few halls until he found a bathroom that didn’t have a line of guys outside the door, and pushed inside.

The smell of alcohol was so strong he nearly gagged, but he went over to the sink anyway. He ran the water and washed his hands off, keeping his head tilted back. There was blood caked around both nostrils. He groped blindly for the paper towel dispenser, still staring at the ceiling to keep from bleeding all over himself.

Someone handed him a wad of paper towel, and he pressed it against his face gratefully. “Thanks, man.” He said, sounding stuffy and muffled.

“What are you doing here?” David asked.

Lucas jumped away from the voice, which was the same place the paper towel had come from. He looked at David, and a strange mix of lust and worry rushed over him. David was obviously a little drunk, but he looked absolutely gorgeous. He was wearing black pants and a white dress shirt, which he hadn’t bothered to tuck in or even button all the way up. His suit coat was unbuttoned but well fitted. His hair was tousled, as though he’d been running his hands through it.

“What are you doing here?” David asked again. Lucas saw he had a flask in one hand, and watched him take a long drink from it.

“I could ask you the same thing.” Lucas replied, and wiped his nose. He didn’t think it was bleeding anymore, and he glanced quickly into the mirror. There was a little blood still on his face, so he made a fuss about cleaning it off. He knew David was staring at him, but he didn’t want to be the first one to say anything.

David sighed. “Seriously, Lucas, why are you here? You hate this kind of thing.”

“So do you, David.” Lucas turned to face David finally. “And why are you drunk?”

“I’m drunk a lot.” He said with a little shrug. “You always dodge questions.”

“I came because Anna paid me to. I also ran into a door. Happy? Now why are you here?”

“Its part of my detention. I’m supposed to be taking tickets.” He took another swig from his flask and then held it out to Lucas. “Want some?”

“No.” Lucas said on reflex. They both stared at each other, and a silence so awkward it was almost tangible stretched out between them. Finally, Lucas cleared his throat and looked away. “So, listen, I tried to call you, but-“

“I didn’t want to talk to you.” David interrupted. “I still don’t know if I do.”

Lucas nodded. That hurt more than he expected it to. “I’ll just go then.” He made to leave, and David stepped in his way. Frowning, he stopped. “You said-“

“I know what I said.” David put the top on his flask and put it in his pocket. He studied Lucas carefully, and Lucas shifted under the intensity of his stare. Finally, David smiled. It was almost that endearing smile of his, but not quite. There was something different about his mismatched eyes. “You don’t have to look so awkward, you know. I’m not going to beat you up in the bathroom.”

Lucas sighed. “David, I’m really sorry for all that stuff I said.” David tilted his head as though he had no idea what Lucas was talking about. “I didn’t mean most of it, and the parts I did mean, well, all of that stuff is my own personal bullshit. I shouldn’t have said all that stuff, and I-“

David moved forward, and Lucas stopped talking immediately. “Your apology is not accepted.” David whispered angrily, and one hand reached up to grab the front of Lucas’s shirt. “You have to make up for what you did.” He pulled hard on Lucas’s shirt, and Lucas had only a moment to realize his intention before David’s mouth was against his own. Something inside Lucas shrieked with joy, while another part entirely immediately began to panic. He tried to ignore both in favor of just feeling.

David made a low growling sound and bit Lucas’s bottom lip almost hard enough to draw blood, and at the same time managed to push Lucas backwards until his back was against the far wall. Lucas hit it with a soft grunt and opened his mouth for David’s tongue. He reached up and touched David’s face with the tips of his fingers, sliding them along his jaw line to his hair. David slanted his mouth a little, brushing Lucas’s nose with his own, and Lucas winced a the sudden pain. He broke the kiss after some struggle, but instead of backing off, David simply slid his mouth down to Lucas’s neck. He grabbed Lucas by the chin and shoved his head up to give himself better access, his teeth leaving red welts wherever they stopped for longer than a moment. Lucas moaned loudly and tangled David’s bright green hair in his fingers. David hissed against his skin and reached up to yank at the buttons of Lucas’s shirt. As soon as it was open enough, he latched on to the spot where Lucas’s neck met his shoulder.

Lucas had time to consider the fact that he was probably about three seconds away from having his first sexual encounter in a school bathroom, and how incredibly apt that actually felt to him. Then David thrust his hand down the front of his hands, his fingers closing around the base of Lucas’s aching cock at the same time he bit down hard on his neck. Lucas clapped his hand over his mouth to keep from screaming at the pain of the bite and the unexpected pleasure of David’s hand. He felt David smile against his skin, and then his hand began to move.

Lucas sagged against the wall, his hands still buried in David’s hair, and prayed to God he wouldn’t end up sprawled out on the floor. His knees weren’t working. David seemed to notice this eventually, and half walked, half dragged Lucas over to the sinks. Lucas propped himself up on one, and David almost immediately undid the button of his pants. The panic Lucas had been fighting down erupted.

“David, stop.” He whispered. David didn’t seem to hear him, so he tried again. “David, stop it.”

David froze, his breath coming in short, shallow gasps. He slowly lifted his head away from Lucas’s throat to look at him. “What’s the matter?”

“Do you realize what we’re doing?”

David laughed and squeezed Lucas’s cock gently, making Lucas groan. “I’ve got a pretty good idea, yea.”

“I can’t do this.” Lucas pried himself away from David and turned his back to straighten his clothes. “Not here.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” David snapped, obviously offended.

Lucas redid the button of his pants and turned to look at David. He looked fantastic, his mouth swollen and red, his hair wild, his skin slick with sweat. Lucas almost lost it right there. He looked away.

“You don’t-“

“No.” Lucas snapped, before David could even voice the fear out loud. “I do. But not here.” He stepped forward and touched David’s lips with one finger. David’s tongue swiped across it, then curled around it and sucked it into his mouth. Lucas shuddered and grabbed him by the shoulder. “Come home with me.”

David grinned around his finger and stepped away, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. Without quite thinking about it, Lucas stuck his saliva coated finger his mouth and licked the excess away.

“Now I’ll have to speed.” David complained.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lucas should’ve known better. He should’ve remember that whole bit about the universe not liking him. He should’ve seen this coming.

When David screeched the car to a stop in front of the house, it didn’t occur to Lucas to think it strange that there were lights on inside. He let David pulled him out of the car by the front of his shirt and haul him up the walk. Lucas, grinning like an idiot. David pushed him up against the door and kissed him hard.

“I can’t believe I don’t get nauseous doing this.” Lucas remarked when David finally let him go so he could unlock the door.

David punched him in the shoulder. “Oh, thanks a lot, you dick.”

Lucas laughed. “No, no, that’s not what I meant.” He pushed the front door open and pulled David inside. “It’s embarrassing. Forget I said it.”

David made an affirming grunt and began divesting Lucas of his suit coat. He dropped it on the floor and got to work on the buttons of his shirt, and Lucas leaned down for a kiss. David supplied one, full of tongue and teeth and moans. They started stumbling towards the hallway, but something made Lucas stop. He lifted his head, frowning.

“What’s the matter now?” David whispered hoarsely, his hands pulling Lucas’s shirt out of the waistband of his pants with quick, impatient jerks.

“The television is on.” Lucas commented, staring at the screen.

“What?” David glanced over his shoulder. “So?” he turned back to Lucas and latched his mouth onto the skin just above Lucas's collar bone.

Lucas turned his head very slowly towards the kitchen, every fiber of his being begging the world at large to not let it be true. He sucked his breath in through his teeth at the sight of the man standing in the kitchen doorway. He had thick black hair and a beard, and had an open can of beer in his hand. He also had the look of someone recently gone insane and ready to murder the closest people on hand.

Lucas’s entire life flashed before his eyes, and for a moment he thought he was going to pass out. His mouth was suddenly very dry. He cleared his throat feebly and opened his mouth.

“Um. Hi dad.”
