part 4
Nikolas glanced down at Arlyn, his arms crossed over his chest, he turned back to Ubell and raised an eyebrow. "Does he usually sleep this late? it's way past morning already" Ubell stepped up next to Arlyn and shrugged, he kneeled down and looked at Arlyn’s chest as it rose and fell as he breathed, he placed his hand on his forehead. "Well, his temperature is up quite a bit, not good for anyone. He's breathing okay, don’t know whats wrong" Nikolas picked up the small pack and slung it over his shoulder, glancing at Ubell as he shook Arlyn, getting no response form the man.
Ubell sighed and reached his hand down to grip the back of Arlyn’s neck, he paused as he felt hot liquid seep onto his fingers, Ubell frowned and lifted Arlyn up so he was propped against one of his raised knees. Dried blood stuck to the back of his neck and the bottom of his hairline, Ubell reached his fingers into the dried blood and felt the back of Arlyn’s skull, his eyes narrowed. "His skull is either fractured or cracked, hard to tell for certain which one it is" Nikolas shifted nervously, his eyes on Arlyn’s sleeping face.
"Is he going to wake up soon?" Ubell shook his head and lifted Arlyn up onto his shoulder, he glanced at Nikolas and gave a weak smile. "Could you carry my bag as well please?... Unless you want to carry Arlyn, and I can carry the bags" Nikolas shook his head quickly, lifting Ubell’s bag up and holding it under his free arm. "I'm good, I don’t think I could carry him for more that a couple of minutes before I passed out" Ubell nodded and walked along the rail tracks, hearing the sound of Nikolas walking just behind him.
He paused and shifted Arlyn to rest more easily in his arms, he glanced back at Nikolas. "So why did you leave your mother?" Nikolas looked up and shrugged, his eyes straying to look at the trees around them. "She's not my real mother" Ubell raised an eyebrow, his red eyes glancing at Nikolas, he stopped walking and turned to stare at him directly. "May I ask what happened?" Nikolas sighed, lifting his eyes to meet Ubell's gaze. "My real dad married her six years ago and then divorced her a month later.
He left in the middle of the night and left me... He left me with her. And if I ever see him again, then I cant forgive him for that" Ubell nodded slowly, looking down at Arlyn, he gave a light sigh. "When I was eight Arlyn left me and my mother, i didn’t see him again until I was fourteen. I felt the same, I was mad that he left. And when I saw him again, I actually wanted to yell and scream at him, but instead I couldn’t even find a single fiber of hatred or anger in my entire body. When the time comes, you might not be able to say anything to your father, then again you might be filled with such malice that you attack him. But you cannot change the fact that he's your father, a bad father, but still your father"
Nikolas smiled, his eyes going to Arlyn’s face as he slept. "Thanks... So... uh, what happened to your mom?" Ubell shook his head, closing his eyes and walking down the tracks. "She died, the day Arlyn left" Nikolas frowned and followed Ubell, his fingers fidgeting with the shoulder strap of Ubell's bag. "... Sorry, i didn’t mean to pry" Ubell gave a light smile, his head shaking gently. "It's okay, you didn’t know"

Max gave a frustrated sigh as he slumped in the bucket seat of the truck, he glared over at Ritter and rolled the window down furiously. "Now tell me again why you had to pick a truck with no air conditioning" Ritter glanced over briefly, his eyes narrowed in slight anger, his grip tightened on the rim of the wheel and his knuckles turned white. "For the last time, I did not know, so be quiet" He turned his attention back to the road and ignored the stream of curses and insults that Max threw back at him, Ritter sighed and watched as a truck pulled up beside him.
The window rolled down and the barrel of a shotgun slid out, Ritter paled and jerked the wheel to the side, sending the truck into the ditch and onto a smaller road. Max yelled and gripped the dashboard, hearing a loud blast as a metal slug tore through the side of the truck and buried into the seat. "What the fuck was that?!" Ritter rolled his eyes and glared over at Max, he pressed his foot down on the gas pedal, sending the truck down the road faster. "Have you even noticed the other truck behind us?... you know... The one shooting at us!"
Max turned in his seat and glanced back, his eyes widening as he saw the black truck behind them, a pair of arms hung out the window as the shotgun was pointed at them once more. A flash came from the front of the barrel and the back window exploded, glass sprayed onto the seats and down to the floor, another blast hit the side mirror. Ritter frowned and ducked down slightly. "Your telling me you don’t see that truck?!" Max groaned and reached into the glove department, pulling out a mass of papers, he threw them to the floor and gripped a heavy wrench.
"Of course I see it now, I wasn't paying attention to the road when I was busy yelling at you!" He turned and leaned out the, now gone, back window and chucked the metal wrench at the pursuing truck, watching as it shattered the front windshield. "Hell yeah! Take that you dirty whore!" Ritter shook his head and turned right onto an old logging road, the truck bounced down the dirt road kicking up dirt behind them as the truck followed close behind. "Didn’t your mother teach you any manners?"
Max nodded and reached under the seat, pulling out a heavy tool box, he set it down on the seat beside him and opened the top up. "Where do you think I learned to curse in the first place? My mother curses just as much as I do" Ritter sighed and turned his full attention on the winding road ahead of him, his lips turned up in a smile. "I figured as much, now can you do something about the dirty whore chasing us you ugly faggot?" Max grinned and pulled a heavy hammer out of the box, his blue eyes narrowed slightly as he placed his hand on his own chest and gasped, giving the impression that he was offended.
"Ugly faggot? If I’m one then you are too old man" He tossed the hammer out the window, watching it slam against the hood of the truck and stay in place. Ritter looked over at max in surprise, his mouth open slightly. ".. What?... What are you talking about?" Max shook his head and grabbed another tool from the box, ducking down as another blast sent a metal slug into the tailgate of the truck. "You like Arlyn... it's pretty obvious by the way you practically dragged my into Canada to try and track him down. So what happened between you two? Did you get into a fight? Was it a lovers quarrel?"
~~~Thirty Two Years ago~~~
Ritter jerked as a cold piece of metal touched his bare back, his skin tingling as the doctor pressed the instrument to his spine, he let out a slow breath and relaxed. The metal moved down his back to come to a stop above his kidney, the doctor's eyes closed as he listened to the heartbeat echoing into his ears. "Well, your fine, just some minor bruising. I advise you to take a few days off and get some rest" Ritter nodded and slipped off the table, reaching for his shirt and slipping it back on, his hands adjusting the fabric until it was back to it's rightful place, he ignored the doctors fading voice as he exited the office and headed back into the main lobby.
Arlyn looked up from the magazine in his hands, his red eyes trained on Ritter’s face as he let the magazine fall to the small table next to him. "So What did the doctor say? Are your lungs okay?" Ritter nodded and patted his left side, giving a light smile as he did so. "Yup, just some bruising. Should heal okay in a few days" Arlyn nodded and stood, walking towards the main door and leaving Ritter smiling behind him. "... I'm glad your okay" Ritter paused and glanced at Arlyn’s retreating back, his eyes slightly wider than usual, he suddenly grinned and followed his friend out the doors.
"Is that your way of saying you were worried about me the whole time?" He slung his arm over Arlyn’s neck and looked up into red eyes, his own brown eyes filled with pure humor. Arlyn rolled his eyes and shrugged off Ritter’s arm, keeping his pace as they walked back to the housing rooms, ignoring Ritter as he talked the entire time. He suddenly stilled as he felt Ritter’s hand grip his upper arm tightly, pulling him back a step. "Hey! I told you to stop for a second" Arlyn glared over his shoulder, catching Ritter gaze and looking down at his feet.
Not more that twenty inches away lay a rattlesnake, coiled up with it's tail shaking violently. Arlyn’s hand shot down and grabbed the snake by the head in mid strike, the rest of it's body wrapping around his wrist in an attempt to strangle him, his lips twitched and he turned to Ritter. "Here... take it" Ritter stepped back, holding up his hands and shaking his head. "No way, get it away from me! Kill it before it bites you" Arlyn frowned and looked down to the struggling snake, he raised his hand and stared into the serpents eyes.
"I'm not going to hurt you, but if you bite me... I will rip you in two" He gently released the snakes head and watched as it closed it's jaws and stayed wrapped around his wrist, the tail remaining still as it stared back at Arlyn. Ritter's mouth dropped as he watched Arlyn lean his head down and kiss the top of the snakes head. "All living things deserve life, you should not kill them because of it's reputation" Arlyn turned and walked towards the perimeter fence, leaving a shocked Ritter in his wake. "What are you doing there soldier?!"
He jumped as a hand grabbed his upper arm and turned him around forcefully, meeting the hard face of one of his senior drill instructor's, Ritter stuttered to answer. "I-I was walking, sir!" The drill instructor narrowed his eyes and looked around, placing his hands on his hip's. " And where is that walking 'fuck me doll' thats always with you?" Ritter looked to the fields and back to the instructor, bitting into his bottom lip. "He said he wasn’t feeling good, and headed back to the housing complex already, sir"
The man frowned and shoved Ritter towards the perimeter of the base, walking directly behind him and shoving the younger face first into the chain link fence. "If he isn’t here then I can have a little fun with you, Your not a sexy as him... but then again your not completely lacking either" Ritter opened his mouth to yell, only managing to gasp in air as he felt a hand clamp over his lips, stifling any scream he would have made. The instructor grinned and slid his hand around Ritter’s waist, un-buckling the belt and yanking it free of the loops in a violent motion.
The pants loosened slightly and slid down slightly, Ritter brought his arm up and drove his elbow into the mans gut, hearing him grunt and fall backwards onto the ground. Ritter turned to run, making two steps before a hand wrapped around his ankle and dragged him backwards, he looked behind him and gave a yell. "Let go!" He kicked the man in the face, hearing the sound of cartilage crack, blood dripped out the instructors nose. The man pulled Ritter under him, slamming his fist hard into already bruised ribs.
"Stay there like a good boy" Ritter gasped in pain as he struggled to breath, his vision blurry as the man above him started unbuttoning his own pants. He groaned as the mans weight suddenly lifted off of him, allowing him to breath, he rolled over and clutched his side. Arlyn stood over the man, his boot pressed to his neck, he grinned and pressed harder, hearing the drill instructor cough for air. "I heard you wanted to play with me, well I’m here now... lets play" He leaned down and grabbed the man by the front of his shirt, hauling him up above his head with little effort before slamming him back down to the ground with all his strength, Arlyn gave a satisfied smiled as he heard bones snap and break.
He licked his lips and glanced over at Ritter, his face falling into a small frown, Arlyn stepped towards him and helped Ritter up. "Did he hurt you badly?" Rutter shook his head, letting Arlyn pick him up like a child and carry him back to the rooms, he lifted his arm and let it rest against the back of Arlyn’s neck. "I'm okay... just more bruises" Arlyn nodded absently, his hands twitching and holding Ritter to him tightly, he sighed as they reached Ritter’s room. "Would you like for me to get the medic for you?"
Ritter shook his head and reached into his pocket, fishing out his room key and unlocking the front door as Arlyn held him, the bolt clicked and the door opened. Arlyn stepped into the room and closed the door with his foot, taking a small glance around as he set Ritter down on the small bed. "Will you be okay if I leave for a bit?" Ritter adjusted himself on the bed, leaning back against the wall and wincing as the cold surface touched his skin. "Yeah, I’ll be okay" Arlyn stepped away and walked into the bathroom, returning a few seconds later with a wet town. "You have dirt on your face"
Ritter took the towel and stared up at Arlyn, his brown eyes curious. "Why did you protect me?" Arlyn blinked, his red eyes wavering slightly as he averted his gaze to the wall behind Ritter. "... I don’t know..." Arlyn sat down on the edge of the bed, his eyes raising up to meet Ritter’s eyes. "... I just did" Ritter smiled and wiped at his face with the towel, looking down at the white fabric to see a small splotch of dirt, he set the towel down and looked at the floor. "So... how's Ana doing?" Arlyn shrugged, laying back on the bed and resting his head in Ritter lap, he gazed up at the ceiling and took a slow breath.
"... Don’t care... She told me she was pregnant, but knowing her, the father could be one of many men" Ritter stared down at Arlyn, his eyes wide in shock, he lifted a hand and set in on Arlyn’s forehead. "What if you are the father?" Arlyn let his red eyes slide over to stare up at Ritter, one corner of his lips falling into a slight frown. "... don’t know... probably nothing... kid would have a better life with her than with me anyways" Ritter lightly slapped the top of Arlyn’s head, shaking his head negatively.
"But it would still be your kid, do you want him, or her, to grow up with a woman as provocative as Ana? I wouldnt be surprised if the child got into prostitution by ten" Arlyn sat up, brushing away Ritter's hand as he stood from the bed. "This is none of your business Ritter, so drop the subject" He turned and walked towards the door, , hands in his front pockets. Ritter jumped up from the bed and ran after him, grabbing Arlyn by the elbow and holding him still. "If the kid isn’t yours then I will apologize. But in the slim chance that it is then you need to be there and help raise it! Every child needs their father"
Arlyn yanked his elbow out of Ritter grip, keeping his back turned. "Not every child needs a father, This is my decision. The kid doesn’t deserve to grow up with a monster" Ritter shook his head furiously, forgetting that Arlyn couldn’t see his face as he stepped forwards and wrapped his arms around his waist, pressing his forehead against Arlyn’s spine. "Your not a monster... I know this for a fact. If you were then you wouldnt have let that snake go... and you wouldnt have cared that you accidently injured me during training"
He felt Arlyn's muscles relax, hearing him sigh as he turned around, his red eyes swarming with pity as he grabbed Ritter shoulder and pushed him away. "Ritter... your going to be disappointed in me... I don’t care much for you humans, I never have since the day I was born. You are all selfish. Even now, your trying to convince me to stay in this area for a child that may not be mine, all while your trying to get me to spread my legs for you" Ritter's cheeks turned red in embarrassment, his eyes wide in shock before narrowing in anger as he shoved Arlyn backwards, slamming him into the door.
"What's your problem! Why are you being so cruel?!" Arlyn relaxed against the door, his red eyes closing halfway and staring down at Ritter, the small difference in their height standing out now that they were so close together. "... it's my nature..." He sighed and brushed Ritter’s hands away, closing his eyes and opening the door, pausing as he stepped into the hallway. "... One day... i will turn against you as well..." Ritter chocked back a sob, feeling his heart throb with pain at Arlyn’s words, he clenched his fists at his sides as his door shut closed with a soft click, leaving him alone in his room.
~~~Present time~~~
Ritter slammed on the brake, the truck behind them smacking into the back of their vehicle, Max bounced forward and cursed as his seat-belt was pulled tight across his chest. The truck skidded to a halt and stopped on the side of the road, mud and grass sticking to the side of the rims. The strangers truck turned sideways suddenly, the tires catching in the deep ditch and flipping it over, landing upside down. Ritter flung open his door and walked up to the flipped truck, he yanked the door open and grabbed the driver, hauling him out into the grass.
"Make this easy for me, first give me your name" The man coughed, spots of blood dotting his chin and neck as he took in a ragged breath, his brown eyes meeting Ritter’s gaze. Max pushed open his door and fell out, laying back on the ground and taking in a large breath, he gave a slow groan and stood up. Ritter tightened his grip on the mans neck, watching as the mans eyes went wide. "Tell me who you are, and why you were trying to kill us... Be quick about it or I’m going to snap your worthless neck" Max stumbled beside Ritter, placing a hand on his shoulder and leaning over slightly.
"Oh shit... at least give me some sort of warning when your going to stop that quick, my neck is killing me" Ritter ignored him, using his strength to lift the man up off of the ground by his neck and slam him against the totaled truck, he raised one of his eyebrows slowly. The man gave a small groan. "My name is Chris... early this morning i was ordered to kill two men traveling north towards the mountains. I was given the description of your vehicle and the plate number" Max looked to the man, a small frown on his face. "What do you mean 'ordered'?" The man shook his head, pointing to his front pocket.
"The person that contacted me was-" A loud blast sounded through the still air, the mans head jerked to the side as dark red blood speckled the side of the truck and the ground. Ritter cursed and dove for the rear of the truck, Max hot on his heels as they slid in the mud and landed under the upturned vehicle, he glanced over at Max and sighed. "Well, there goes the one person that might have known something" Max gave a frustrated sigh and let his head fall down to land in the dirt. "Now what Mr.Smart-ass... were stuck under a wrecked truck with a sniper, in an unknown location, firing at us"
The ground in front of his face exploded, Max wiped his face off and glared at Ritter. "Now what?" Ritter shook his head and took a cautious look under the truck, spotting a small gleam of silver and black at the base of the tree line, he cursed and ducked back under the truck. "He's in the tree line about four hundred yards away, too far for you to throw anything at him at this range" He gave a pointed look at Max and looked around, he turned slowly and crawled in through the back window. Max glanced back at him, a curious look on his face. "I don’t think the truck will start Ritter, what are you doing?"
Ritter gave a victorious laugh and slid the mans shotgun over to him, he turned and crawled up next to Max with a .45 Ruger in his grasp. Max grabbed the shotgun and smiled. "This is better, but why do you get the handgun?" Ritter drew the gun up to aim out the bottom of the truck, a small grin on his face. "Because I don’t want you throwing the gun at him" Max fumed and looked away, cursing under his breath as he cocked the shotgun. Ritter leveled the pistol at the base of the tree line and took a steady breath, keeping the gun sights as level as possible. He squeezed the trigger and waited, a blast echoed through the air and silence followed it.
Suddenly the ground in front of his erupted under the onslaught of bullets. Ritter pulled back and smiled at Max. "I hit him at least, probably just grazed him though" Max rolled his eyes and aimed the shotgun out the truck, Ritter looked at him and shook his head as he tried to stifle a laugh. "Your not going to him him at this range Max, even if it's a solid slug" Max glared at him, his blue eyes hard as steel. "I know that jackass, I'm not trying to hit him... I'm trying to scare him" He fired out the truck and smiled as another barrage of bullets peppered the truck.
~~~
The man in the trees cursed as he quickly tied a ripped strip of cloth over his left arm, blood seeping though and dripping onto the ground, he sighed and propped himself up against the tree. Concentrating on keeping his aim level as he looked through the scope mounted on his rifle, the cross-hairs trained on the bottom of the truck. A few birds flew behind him, he paused and glanced around, giving a small sigh before he returned to his rifle. A hand wrapped around his neck and he stilled, his eyes wide in panic, a young boy walked in front of him and he frowned. The boy smiled and made his way to the flipped truck, walking slowly and holding his hands in the air.
"Max! It's Nikolas, you can come out from hiding now" The man tried to turn around but was stopped as the hand tightened on his neck, he gasped in air and relaxed. ~~~ Ritter glanced at Max and raised both eyebrows in surprise, he looked out the truck and then back to Max. "Do you know this kid?" Max nodded and crawled out from under the truck. "He's Ubell's neighbor, I wonder what he's doing here" Ritter slid out from under the truck and watched as Max walked up to Nikolas, he followed slowly, staying beside Max. Nikolas smiled wide and turned back to the tree line. "Hurry up or Ubell's going to kill that sniper guy"
Max's eyes widened and he bolted for the tree line, leaving Nikolas and Ritter behind as he reached the trees, he looked around and saw Ubell with his hand wrapped around the snipers neck, his red eyes glowing brightly. Ubell let his gaze lift, meeting Max's blue orbs, he gestured for him to come closer. "Can you take this guy for me?" Max nodded and walked forward, kicking the man onto his back and placing his dirty boot on his chest. "Stay there idiot, or I might accidently smash your throat"
Max reached out and grabbed Ubell by his shoulder, hauling him against his chest and wrapping his arms around Ubell tightly. Max gave a content moan and kissed the top of Ubell's head, closing his eyes and hugging him closer. Ubell relaxed, letting Max hold him as he stood still, his arms still at his side. Max pulled back slowly, his eyes on Ubell's face as he gave him a small smile. "I missed you so much" Ubell let one slim eyebrow raise in interest, his red eyes trained in Max's face as he stepped back and finally looked away to glance over Nikolas and Ritter. "How are you Ritter? Doing well I hope?"
Ritter gave a small nod, looking around briefly before settling his eyes on the sniper on the ground, Max's boot on his chest to keep him down. "I'm doing well Ubell. Max, see if you can get some information out of him, I’m going to take a look at the weapons he has" Max nodded and sat down on the mans chest, giving him a big grin and grabbing a handful of dirt from the ground. Ritter reached down and picked up the mans pack, yanking it open and peering inside. He smiled and pulled out a silver handled pistol, a box of ammunition, a cell phone and a case of emergency medical supplies.
Nikolas looked at the medical case and gave a large smile, he grabbed hold of it and waved it at Ubell. "Hey, is this okay?" Ubell nodded and grabbed the case, opening it and pulling out a roll of gauze. "It's better than nothing" Ritter looked at the gauze and paused, looking Ubell up and down as well as Nikolas. "Who's injured?... Is Arlyn okay?" Nikolas shrugged and walked over to stand next to Max, watching as he shoved dirt into the mans mouth and shook him. Ubell nodded and stuffed the gauze into his pocket. "He smacked his head badly a few days ago" He turned and walked away from Max and Ritter, making his way back into the trees.
"He isn’t far, follow me if you want. Nikolas! I'll be back in a minute" Nikolas waved his hand at Ubell and sat on the ground, poking the struggling man with a stick and smiling when it annoyed him further. Ritter strode after Ubell, watching the trees around him and keeping his breathing even, he looked up as he saw Ubell pause and look around. "What is it?" Ubell frowned and looked to the ground where a spot of blood dripped from the tree's base, footprints leading off towards the deeper parts of the trees. "Arlyn was right here when I left" Ritter glanced around, trying to follow the footprints with his eyes but failing as he saw them disappear at another tree base.
"Maybe he went to the bathroom, or ran off again" Ubell glared over at Ritter, his red eyes sharp as his mouth pressed into a thin line. "He was knocked out cold, and he wouldnt run off at a time like this" Ritter hung his head and shook his head slightly, almost not moving his head, cold metal suddenly pressed against his throat and he stilled in surprise. Ubell looked behind him and smiled. The metal moved away from Ritter’s neck and he turned, meeting bright glowing red eyes and long black hair, Arlyn’s neck stained with dried blood as well as new. The corner of Arlyn’s lips raised in a slight smile, his hand lowering and placing the knife back in his boot.
"Hello little one" Ritter felt his chest tighten, his lips trying to tug up into a smile as he did his best to restrain it, he instead kept a straight face and let his eyes meet Arlyn’s fearlessly. "Hey old man, Where have you been for thirty years?" Arlyn shrugged and walked over to Ubell, reaching his hand out and pulling the gauze from his pocket, he paused and took a deep breath and clenched his eyes shut. "I've been around. Here and there mostly" Ubell looked to Ritter, his face etched with curiosity, he smiled and stepped back. "I'll help Max torture that man. Ritter, could you help Arlyn bandage his head please?"
He gave them both a gentle smile and walked back to where Nikolas and the others were. Ritter watched him go, waiting until Ubell was out of earshot until he turned back to Arlyn and narrowed his eyes. "Where the hell have you been Arlyn! I've been looking for you ever since you left!" Arlyn cringed and looked to the ground, one of his hands reaching up to rub at the side of his head. "Keep it down, I’m still seeing three of everything. And your yelling is not making it any better" Ritter gave a groan and stepped forward, grabbing Arlyn by the hand and yanking him forward, his free arm wrapping around the slim waist and pulling him tight against his body.
Arlyn gave a gasp as the air rushed form his lungs, his eyes halfway closed as he looked up, one of his hands moved up and gripped onto Ritter’s shoulder. "What are you doing Ritter?" Ritter leaned down slightly, letting his lips brush against the side of Arlyn’s mouth, he sucked in a breath and tightened his hold. "Something I should have done a long time ago" Ritter let go of Arlyn’s hand and cupped his cheek, turning his head gently and pressing his lips to Arlyn’s soft flesh. Arlyn stilled, his mind going blank as he felt Ritter's lips on his, he felt a hand grip his ass and he gasped.
Ritter groaned and plunged his tongue into Arlyn’s hot mouth, his eyes closing in bliss as he felt a pair of hands slide down his back and settle on his hip's, Ritter’s hand moved up Arlyn’s ass and slipped under his pants to grab bare flesh. Arlyn moaned and dropped the gauze in his hand, tilting his head to the side and letting Ritter dig deeper into his mouth, he pressed forward and rubbed his hip's up against Ritter's hard body. "Is this a bad time to say 'i got him to cry like a girl'?" Arlyn's eyes went wide and he yanked away, his cheeks turning a shade of red, his hand came up and covered his mouth in shock.
Ritter stepped back and glared over at Max. "You could have waited Max" Max grinned and turned to walk away, rolling his shoulders. "Yeah, but I wanted to see you give Arlyn a tongue fuck. Gotta say though, I knew you had the hots for him, and you can't deny it this time" Arlyn snatched the gauze from the ground and ran out of the small clearing, his hand still over his mouth. Ritter watched him go and then turned to glare at Max, his eyes filled with rage, he stormed past Max and headed after Arlyn.
~~~
Ubell turned and looked over at the tree's as Arlyn walked towards him, his eyes staring at the ground in shock, the gauze grasped tightly in his hand. "Arlyn? What's wrong?" Ubell stepped forward and touched Arlyn’s arm, shaking him gently as he tried to get a reaction. "Arlyn!" Ritter stopped as he saw Ubell, he nodded and walked up to the both of them, reaching out and touching Arlyn’s shoulder. "Arlyn... I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable" Ritter gave a weak smile and walked over to where Nikolas and the passed out man were sitting. Ubell placed both hands on Arlyn’s shoulders, giving him another gentle shake.
"Arlyn, please. What happened?" Arlyn glanced up, his pupils fully dilated, he shook his head and walked away. "I'm okay... just shocked" He walked away, not noticing the concerned look on Ubell's face, his hand tightened on the gauze in his hand. Arlyn walked to the opposite side of a large tree and sat down, his eyes closed as he took a deep breath. 'wow... three hundred years and thats the first time you blush' Arlyn lifted his hand and placed the start of the gauze at the side of his head, holding it in place as he wrapped it around his head in a firm hold, keeping the wrap above his eyes.
"I didn’t expect it, thus I was not prepared for what he did" The voice in Arlyn’s head laughed in glee. He sighed and finished wrapping his head, tying the end of the gauze at the back of his head, Arlyn opened his eyes and gave a frustrated groan. 'un prepared my ass! You are practically head over heals for him, and you know it' He sighed and sat back against the tree, crossing his arms over his chest. "Silence, I've heard enough of your stupid words. Now leave me in peace for a few days" The voice chuckled once more, sounding more like a high bark.
'Oh hell no! I'm gonna hang around until you finally bed the human named Ritter. I'm convinced he's just what you need right now' Arlyn clenched his eyes shut and brought his let hand up, rubbing at the bridge of his nose. "And what exactly do I need right now?" The voice paused, as if contemplating it's next answer carefully, before a low hum vibrated at the back of Arlyn’s neck. 'You need him to fuck you' Arlyn’s hand dropped from it's position, his lips opening and closing several times before he clamped his mouth shut, a dark blush spreading over his cheeks as the voice inside his head projected an image of him and Ritter in different positions in a large comfortable bed.
"Enough! Stop it!" He reached up and gripped the sides of his head, covering his ears to try and block out the sound of the voice in his head, but failing as the voice only laughed louder. 'Why should I stop? I know you want him as much as I do. Just accept it. Let him lay with you for a night and bring us pleasure, and if you still dislike it the next morning then I will not speak his name to you ever again... I swear' "Arlyn?" Ubell's voice made him lift his head, his red eyes looking up at the concerned face of his son. "Are you okay? You looked like you were spacing out really bad for a minute"
Arlyn nodded slowly, closing his eyes and rubbing his palm against his forehead. "I'm okay... just trying to ignore my stupid side" The corner of Ubell's lips lifted as he reached down and helped Arlyn to stand, keeping one hand on his back to steady him. "I get that sometimes too... The urge to do something really stupid. And it's usually because that fucking voice tells me to" Arlyn shrugged, his eyes glancing to the path in front of them as they walked back to where the others were waiting. "Yeah... that happens a lot. You'll get used to it in a few years, pretty soon it's going to seem like second nature"
He let his hand drape across Ubell's shoulders, leaning on him slightly as he felt the back of his head throb painfully, the voice in Arlyn’s head laughed once. Ubell stumbled as suddenly Arlyn went limp at his side, slumping to the ground in a boneless heap. "Ritter! I need you to help me with Arlyn!" Ubell pulled him up as far as he could, managing to get him off of the ground and onto his knees, he glanced up as Ritter made his way over to them. "What happened to him?" Ubell watched as Ritter eased Arlyn into his arms, a gentle look in his brown eyes. "Don’t know, he just collapsed. I'm gonna go see if Max and Nikolas have managed to get anything out of the hostage yet"
Ritter nodded, holding Arlyn closer to his chest as Ubell walked away, he smiled and headed after him. "Odd way for you to wind up in my arms... don’t you think so Arlyn?" He sighed as he made his way through the last of the tree's, watching as Max sat down on the mans back and pushed his face into the ground. "The bastard bit his own tongue off, isn’t much use to us if he cant tell us anything" Ubell reached into his bag and withdrew a large silver revolver, he looked down the sights and smiled as he drew back the hammer, pointing it at the mans head and pulling the trigger in one smooth motion.
Max jumped back as the mans head exploded, sending bits of flesh and skull spraying across the ground. "The hell! Why did you kill him Ubell?" Ubell raise one eyebrow, letting the revolver rest at his side. "You said so yourself, he isn’t much use to us if he cant tell us anything... So I neutralized him" Max gaped at Ubell, his mouth wide open as he tried to form a sentence. "... a-at least wait for me to get off of the guy! Now i have brain matter on me" Max reached down and started picking off pieced of red flesh from his side, letting them drop to the ground next to the body.
Ritter walked up to the remaining truck and opened the door, sliding Arlyn in and buckling him into the middle seat, he turned back to Max and motioned for him to get in. "Max, your sitting up front with me and Arlyn. Ubell, you and Nikolas can hide in the back until we find a decent place to crash for the night" Max frowned as he slid into the truck, feeling Arlyn's body press against his side, he watched as Ubell tossed two packs into the back of the truck before climbing in and helping Nikolas to settle beside him. "Why do I have to sit up here with you two old guys?"
Ritter gave a light smile as he shut the door behind him, buckling his seat belt and starting the engine. "Because if I let you stay in the back with Ubell, I’m certain that other drivers would notice the two of you" He pulled away from the flipped truck and got back on the road, Ubell and Nikolas laying down flat in the bed of the truck.
~~~ Three hours later~~~
Nikolas sat up slightly as the truck slowed to a stop, he glance around and smiled as he saw the neon sign of a hotel resting above the hood of the truck. Ritter climbed out and headed to the side of the truck, leaning over the slight lip and handing Nikolas his wallet. "Get two rooms right next to each other with king sized beds, pay cash only" Nikolas nodded and grabbed the wallet offered to him, leaping out of th truck and heading to the main lobby. Ritter smiled and looked down at Ubell, pursing his lips as he saw the younger asleep, he turned and walked back to the driver door.
"Hey Max, Ubell's asleep. You carry him and I'll get Arlyn" Max managed to lift his head enough to nod at Ritter, watching as Nikolas came back from the main room holding two keys, one in each hand. "They didn’t have anymore rooms next to each other, so I managed to get ones that were only a few doors away from each other. Is that okay?" Ritter shrugged and grabbed one of the keys, putting it into his pocket and reaching inside the truck to unbuckle Arlyn, hoisting him into his arms like a child.
"Max, you Nikolas and Ubell share the remaining room, and no complaining. Take a good rest and I'll see you in the morning" Nikolas saluted Ritter and turned, grabbing the bags and taking off to their room, Max following with Ubell in his arms. Ritter closed the truck door behind him and headed off to his room, glancing down at Arlyn every few steps to make sure he was still asleep. He grinned as he reached the room, sliding the key out of his pocket and unlocking the door with ease, keeping Arlyn pressed against his chest with one arm. Ritter stepped into the room and closed the door behind him, walking to the bed and laying Arlyn down on it, he went back to the door and locked the bolt.
Here's part 4
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"It's okay, you didn’t know"
~~~
Max gave a frustrated sigh as he slumped in the bucket seat of the truck, he glared over at Ritter and rolled the window down furiously. "Now tell me again why you had to pick a truck with no air conditioning" Ritter glanced over briefly, his eyes narrowed in slight anger, his grip tightened on the rim of the wheel and his knuckles turned white. "For the last time, I did not know, so be quiet" He turned his attention back to the road and ignored the stream of curses and insults that Max threw back at him, Ritter sighed and watched as a truck pulled up beside him.
The window rolled down and the barrel of a shotgun slid out, Ritter paled and jerked the wheel to the side, sending the truck into the ditch and onto a smaller road. Max yelled and gripped the dashboard, hearing a loud blast as a metal slug tore through the side of the truck and buried into the seat. "What the fuck was that?!" Ritter rolled his eyes and glared over at Max, he pressed his foot down on the gas pedal, sending the truck down the road faster. "Have you even noticed the other truck behind us?... you know... The one shooting at us!"
Max turned in his seat and glanced back, his eyes widening as he saw the black truck behind them, a pair of arms hung out the window as the shotgun was pointed at them once more. A flash came from the front of the barrel and the back window exploded, glass sprayed onto the seats and down to the floor, another blast hit the side mirror. Ritter frowned and ducked down slightly. "Your telling me you don’t see that truck?!" Max groaned and reached into the glove department, pulling out a mass of papers, he threw them to the floor and gripped a heavy wrench.
"Of course I see it now, I wasn't paying attention to the road when I was busy yelling at you!" He turned and leaned out the, now gone, back window and chucked the metal wrench at the pursuing truck, watching as it shattered the front windshield. "Hell yeah! Take that you dirty whore!" Ritter shook his head and turned right onto an old logging road, the truck bounced down the dirt road kicking up dirt behind them as the truck followed close behind. "Didn’t your mother teach you any manners?"
Max nodded and reached under the seat, pulling out a heavy tool box, he set it down on the seat beside him and opened the top up. "Where do you think I learned to curse in the first place? My mother curses just as much as I do" Ritter sighed and turned his full attention on the winding road ahead of him, his lips turned up in a smile. "I figured as much, now can you do something about the dirty whore chasing us you ugly faggot?" Max grinned and pulled a heavy hammer out of the box, his blue eyes narrowed slightly as he placed his hand on his own chest and gasped, giving the impression that he was offended.
"Ugly faggot? If I’m one then you are too old man" He tossed the hammer out the window, watching it slam against the hood of the truck and stay in place. Ritter looked over at max in surprise, his mouth open slightly. ".. What?... What are you talking about?" Max shook his head and grabbed another tool from the box, ducking down as another blast sent a metal slug into the tailgate of the truck. "You like Arlyn... it's pretty obvious by the way you practically dragged my into Canada to try and track him down. So what happened between you two? Did you get into a fight? Was it a lovers quarrel?"
~~~Thirty Two Years ago~~~
Ritter jerked as a cold piece of metal touched his bare back, his skin tingling as the doctor pressed the instrument to his spine, he let out a slow breath and relaxed. The metal moved down his back to come to a stop above his kidney, the doctor's eyes closed as he listened to the heartbeat echoing into his ears. "Well, your fine, just some minor bruising. I advise you to take a few days off and get some rest" Ritter nodded and slipped off the table, reaching for his shirt and slipping it back on, his hands adjusting the fabric until it was back to it's rightful place, he ignored the doctors fading voice as he exited the office and headed back into the main lobby.
Arlyn looked up from the magazine in his hands, his red eyes trained on Ritter’s face as he let the magazine fall to the small table next to him. "So What did the doctor say? Are your lungs okay?" Ritter nodded and patted his left side, giving a light smile as he did so. "Yup, just some bruising. Should heal okay in a few days" Arlyn nodded and stood, walking towards the main door and leaving Ritter smiling behind him. "... I'm glad your okay" Ritter paused and glanced at Arlyn’s retreating back, his eyes slightly wider than usual, he suddenly grinned and followed his friend out the doors.
"Is that your way of saying you were worried about me the whole time?" He slung his arm over Arlyn’s neck and looked up into red eyes, his own brown eyes filled with pure humor. Arlyn rolled his eyes and shrugged off Ritter’s arm, keeping his pace as they walked back to the housing rooms, ignoring Ritter as he talked the entire time. He suddenly stilled as he felt Ritter’s hand grip his upper arm tightly, pulling him back a step. "Hey! I told you to stop for a second" Arlyn glared over his shoulder, catching Ritter gaze and looking down at his feet.
Not more that twenty inches away lay a rattlesnake, coiled up with it's tail shaking violently. Arlyn’s hand shot down and grabbed the snake by the head in mid strike, the rest of it's body wrapping around his wrist in an attempt to strangle him, his lips twitched and he turned to Ritter. "Here... take it" Ritter stepped back, holding up his hands and shaking his head. "No way, get it away from me! Kill it before it bites you" Arlyn frowned and looked down to the struggling snake, he raised his hand and stared into the serpents eyes.
"I'm not going to hurt you, but if you bite me... I will rip you in two" He gently released the snakes head and watched as it closed it's jaws and stayed wrapped around his wrist, the tail remaining still as it stared back at Arlyn. Ritter's mouth dropped as he watched Arlyn lean his head down and kiss the top of the snakes head. "All living things deserve life, you should not kill them because of it's reputation" Arlyn turned and walked towards the perimeter fence, leaving a shocked Ritter in his wake. "What are you doing there soldier?!"
He jumped as a hand grabbed his upper arm and turned him around forcefully, meeting the hard face of one of his senior drill instructor's, Ritter stuttered to answer. "I-I was walking, sir!" The drill instructor narrowed his eyes and looked around, placing his hands on his hip's. " And where is that walking 'fuck me doll' thats always with you?" Ritter looked to the fields and back to the instructor, bitting into his bottom lip. "He said he wasn’t feeling good, and headed back to the housing complex already, sir"
The man frowned and shoved Ritter towards the perimeter of the base, walking directly behind him and shoving the younger face first into the chain link fence. "If he isn’t here then I can have a little fun with you, Your not a sexy as him... but then again your not completely lacking either" Ritter opened his mouth to yell, only managing to gasp in air as he felt a hand clamp over his lips, stifling any scream he would have made. The instructor grinned and slid his hand around Ritter’s waist, un-buckling the belt and yanking it free of the loops in a violent motion.
The pants loosened slightly and slid down slightly, Ritter brought his arm up and drove his elbow into the mans gut, hearing him grunt and fall backwards onto the ground. Ritter turned to run, making two steps before a hand wrapped around his ankle and dragged him backwards, he looked behind him and gave a yell. "Let go!" He kicked the man in the face, hearing the sound of cartilage crack, blood dripped out the instructors nose. The man pulled Ritter under him, slamming his fist hard into already bruised ribs.
"Stay there like a good boy" Ritter gasped in pain as he struggled to breath, his vision blurry as the man above him started unbuttoning his own pants. He groaned as the mans weight suddenly lifted off of him, allowing him to breath, he rolled over and clutched his side. Arlyn stood over the man, his boot pressed to his neck, he grinned and pressed harder, hearing the drill instructor cough for air. "I heard you wanted to play with me, well I’m here now... lets play" He leaned down and grabbed the man by the front of his shirt, hauling him up above his head with little effort before slamming him back down to the ground with all his strength, Arlyn gave a satisfied smiled as he heard bones snap and break.
He licked his lips and glanced over at Ritter, his face falling into a small frown, Arlyn stepped towards him and helped Ritter up. "Did he hurt you badly?" Rutter shook his head, letting Arlyn pick him up like a child and carry him back to the rooms, he lifted his arm and let it rest against the back of Arlyn’s neck. "I'm okay... just more bruises" Arlyn nodded absently, his hands twitching and holding Ritter to him tightly, he sighed as they reached Ritter’s room. "Would you like for me to get the medic for you?"
Ritter shook his head and reached into his pocket, fishing out his room key and unlocking the front door as Arlyn held him, the bolt clicked and the door opened. Arlyn stepped into the room and closed the door with his foot, taking a small glance around as he set Ritter down on the small bed. "Will you be okay if I leave for a bit?" Ritter adjusted himself on the bed, leaning back against the wall and wincing as the cold surface touched his skin. "Yeah, I’ll be okay" Arlyn stepped away and walked into the bathroom, returning a few seconds later with a wet town. "You have dirt on your face"
Ritter took the towel and stared up at Arlyn, his brown eyes curious. "Why did you protect me?" Arlyn blinked, his red eyes wavering slightly as he averted his gaze to the wall behind Ritter. "... I don’t know..." Arlyn sat down on the edge of the bed, his eyes raising up to meet Ritter’s eyes. "... I just did" Ritter smiled and wiped at his face with the towel, looking down at the white fabric to see a small splotch of dirt, he set the towel down and looked at the floor. "So... how's Ana doing?" Arlyn shrugged, laying back on the bed and resting his head in Ritter lap, he gazed up at the ceiling and took a slow breath.
"... Don’t care... She told me she was pregnant, but knowing her, the father could be one of many men" Ritter stared down at Arlyn, his eyes wide in shock, he lifted a hand and set in on Arlyn’s forehead. "What if you are the father?" Arlyn let his red eyes slide over to stare up at Ritter, one corner of his lips falling into a slight frown. "... don’t know... probably nothing... kid would have a better life with her than with me anyways" Ritter lightly slapped the top of Arlyn’s head, shaking his head negatively.
"But it would still be your kid, do you want him, or her, to grow up with a woman as provocative as Ana? I wouldnt be surprised if the child got into prostitution by ten" Arlyn sat up, brushing away Ritter's hand as he stood from the bed. "This is none of your business Ritter, so drop the subject" He turned and walked towards the door, , hands in his front pockets. Ritter jumped up from the bed and ran after him, grabbing Arlyn by the elbow and holding him still. "If the kid isn’t yours then I will apologize. But in the slim chance that it is then you need to be there and help raise it! Every child needs their father"
Arlyn yanked his elbow out of Ritter grip, keeping his back turned. "Not every child needs a father, This is my decision. The kid doesn’t deserve to grow up with a monster" Ritter shook his head furiously, forgetting that Arlyn couldn’t see his face as he stepped forwards and wrapped his arms around his waist, pressing his forehead against Arlyn’s spine. "Your not a monster... I know this for a fact. If you were then you wouldnt have let that snake go... and you wouldnt have cared that you accidently injured me during training"
He felt Arlyn's muscles relax, hearing him sigh as he turned around, his red eyes swarming with pity as he grabbed Ritter shoulder and pushed him away. "Ritter... your going to be disappointed in me... I don’t care much for you humans, I never have since the day I was born. You are all selfish. Even now, your trying to convince me to stay in this area for a child that may not be mine, all while your trying to get me to spread my legs for you" Ritter's cheeks turned red in embarrassment, his eyes wide in shock before narrowing in anger as he shoved Arlyn backwards, slamming him into the door.
"What's your problem! Why are you being so cruel?!" Arlyn relaxed against the door, his red eyes closing halfway and staring down at Ritter, the small difference in their height standing out now that they were so close together. "... it's my nature..." He sighed and brushed Ritter’s hands away, closing his eyes and opening the door, pausing as he stepped into the hallway. "... One day... i will turn against you as well..." Ritter chocked back a sob, feeling his heart throb with pain at Arlyn’s words, he clenched his fists at his sides as his door shut closed with a soft click, leaving him alone in his room.
~~~Present time~~~
Ritter slammed on the brake, the truck behind them smacking into the back of their vehicle, Max bounced forward and cursed as his seat-belt was pulled tight across his chest. The truck skidded to a halt and stopped on the side of the road, mud and grass sticking to the side of the rims. The strangers truck turned sideways suddenly, the tires catching in the deep ditch and flipping it over, landing upside down. Ritter flung open his door and walked up to the flipped truck, he yanked the door open and grabbed the driver, hauling him out into the grass.
"Make this easy for me, first give me your name" The man coughed, spots of blood dotting his chin and neck as he took in a ragged breath, his brown eyes meeting Ritter’s gaze. Max pushed open his door and fell out, laying back on the ground and taking in a large breath, he gave a slow groan and stood up. Ritter tightened his grip on the mans neck, watching as the mans eyes went wide. "Tell me who you are, and why you were trying to kill us... Be quick about it or I’m going to snap your worthless neck" Max stumbled beside Ritter, placing a hand on his shoulder and leaning over slightly.
"Oh shit... at least give me some sort of warning when your going to stop that quick, my neck is killing me" Ritter ignored him, using his strength to lift the man up off of the ground by his neck and slam him against the totaled truck, he raised one of his eyebrows slowly. The man gave a small groan. "My name is Chris... early this morning i was ordered to kill two men traveling north towards the mountains. I was given the description of your vehicle and the plate number" Max looked to the man, a small frown on his face. "What do you mean 'ordered'?" The man shook his head, pointing to his front pocket.
"The person that contacted me was-" A loud blast sounded through the still air, the mans head jerked to the side as dark red blood speckled the side of the truck and the ground. Ritter cursed and dove for the rear of the truck, Max hot on his heels as they slid in the mud and landed under the upturned vehicle, he glanced over at Max and sighed. "Well, there goes the one person that might have known something" Max gave a frustrated sigh and let his head fall down to land in the dirt. "Now what Mr.Smart-ass... were stuck under a wrecked truck with a sniper, in an unknown location, firing at us"
The ground in front of his face exploded, Max wiped his face off and glared at Ritter. "Now what?" Ritter shook his head and took a cautious look under the truck, spotting a small gleam of silver and black at the base of the tree line, he cursed and ducked back under the truck. "He's in the tree line about four hundred yards away, too far for you to throw anything at him at this range" He gave a pointed look at Max and looked around, he turned slowly and crawled in through the back window. Max glanced back at him, a curious look on his face. "I don’t think the truck will start Ritter, what are you doing?"
Ritter gave a victorious laugh and slid the mans shotgun over to him, he turned and crawled up next to Max with a .45 Ruger in his grasp. Max grabbed the shotgun and smiled. "This is better, but why do you get the handgun?" Ritter drew the gun up to aim out the bottom of the truck, a small grin on his face. "Because I don’t want you throwing the gun at him" Max fumed and looked away, cursing under his breath as he cocked the shotgun. Ritter leveled the pistol at the base of the tree line and took a steady breath, keeping the gun sights as level as possible. He squeezed the trigger and waited, a blast echoed through the air and silence followed it.
Suddenly the ground in front of his erupted under the onslaught of bullets. Ritter pulled back and smiled at Max. "I hit him at least, probably just grazed him though" Max rolled his eyes and aimed the shotgun out the truck, Ritter looked at him and shook his head as he tried to stifle a laugh. "Your not going to him him at this range Max, even if it's a solid slug" Max glared at him, his blue eyes hard as steel. "I know that jackass, I'm not trying to hit him... I'm trying to scare him" He fired out the truck and smiled as another barrage of bullets peppered the truck.
~~~
The man in the trees cursed as he quickly tied a ripped strip of cloth over his left arm, blood seeping though and dripping onto the ground, he sighed and propped himself up against the tree. Concentrating on keeping his aim level as he looked through the scope mounted on his rifle, the cross-hairs trained on the bottom of the truck. A few birds flew behind him, he paused and glanced around, giving a small sigh before he returned to his rifle. A hand wrapped around his neck and he stilled, his eyes wide in panic, a young boy walked in front of him and he frowned. The boy smiled and made his way to the flipped truck, walking slowly and holding his hands in the air.
"Max! It's Nikolas, you can come out from hiding now" The man tried to turn around but was stopped as the hand tightened on his neck, he gasped in air and relaxed. ~~~ Ritter glanced at Max and raised both eyebrows in surprise, he looked out the truck and then back to Max. "Do you know this kid?" Max nodded and crawled out from under the truck. "He's Ubell's neighbor, I wonder what he's doing here" Ritter slid out from under the truck and watched as Max walked up to Nikolas, he followed slowly, staying beside Max. Nikolas smiled wide and turned back to the tree line. "Hurry up or Ubell's going to kill that sniper guy"
Max's eyes widened and he bolted for the tree line, leaving Nikolas and Ritter behind as he reached the trees, he looked around and saw Ubell with his hand wrapped around the snipers neck, his red eyes glowing brightly. Ubell let his gaze lift, meeting Max's blue orbs, he gestured for him to come closer. "Can you take this guy for me?" Max nodded and walked forward, kicking the man onto his back and placing his dirty boot on his chest. "Stay there idiot, or I might accidently smash your throat"
Max reached out and grabbed Ubell by his shoulder, hauling him against his chest and wrapping his arms around Ubell tightly. Max gave a content moan and kissed the top of Ubell's head, closing his eyes and hugging him closer. Ubell relaxed, letting Max hold him as he stood still, his arms still at his side. Max pulled back slowly, his eyes on Ubell's face as he gave him a small smile. "I missed you so much" Ubell let one slim eyebrow raise in interest, his red eyes trained in Max's face as he stepped back and finally looked away to glance over Nikolas and Ritter. "How are you Ritter? Doing well I hope?"
Ritter gave a small nod, looking around briefly before settling his eyes on the sniper on the ground, Max's boot on his chest to keep him down. "I'm doing well Ubell. Max, see if you can get some information out of him, I’m going to take a look at the weapons he has" Max nodded and sat down on the mans chest, giving him a big grin and grabbing a handful of dirt from the ground. Ritter reached down and picked up the mans pack, yanking it open and peering inside. He smiled and pulled out a silver handled pistol, a box of ammunition, a cell phone and a case of emergency medical supplies.
Nikolas looked at the medical case and gave a large smile, he grabbed hold of it and waved it at Ubell. "Hey, is this okay?" Ubell nodded and grabbed the case, opening it and pulling out a roll of gauze. "It's better than nothing" Ritter looked at the gauze and paused, looking Ubell up and down as well as Nikolas. "Who's injured?... Is Arlyn okay?" Nikolas shrugged and walked over to stand next to Max, watching as he shoved dirt into the mans mouth and shook him. Ubell nodded and stuffed the gauze into his pocket. "He smacked his head badly a few days ago" He turned and walked away from Max and Ritter, making his way back into the trees.
"He isn’t far, follow me if you want. Nikolas! I'll be back in a minute" Nikolas waved his hand at Ubell and sat on the ground, poking the struggling man with a stick and smiling when it annoyed him further. Ritter strode after Ubell, watching the trees around him and keeping his breathing even, he looked up as he saw Ubell pause and look around. "What is it?" Ubell frowned and looked to the ground where a spot of blood dripped from the tree's base, footprints leading off towards the deeper parts of the trees. "Arlyn was right here when I left" Ritter glanced around, trying to follow the footprints with his eyes but failing as he saw them disappear at another tree base.
"Maybe he went to the bathroom, or ran off again" Ubell glared over at Ritter, his red eyes sharp as his mouth pressed into a thin line. "He was knocked out cold, and he wouldnt run off at a time like this" Ritter hung his head and shook his head slightly, almost not moving his head, cold metal suddenly pressed against his throat and he stilled in surprise. Ubell looked behind him and smiled. The metal moved away from Ritter’s neck and he turned, meeting bright glowing red eyes and long black hair, Arlyn’s neck stained with dried blood as well as new. The corner of Arlyn’s lips raised in a slight smile, his hand lowering and placing the knife back in his boot.
"Hello little one" Ritter felt his chest tighten, his lips trying to tug up into a smile as he did his best to restrain it, he instead kept a straight face and let his eyes meet Arlyn’s fearlessly. "Hey old man, Where have you been for thirty years?" Arlyn shrugged and walked over to Ubell, reaching his hand out and pulling the gauze from his pocket, he paused and took a deep breath and clenched his eyes shut. "I've been around. Here and there mostly" Ubell looked to Ritter, his face etched with curiosity, he smiled and stepped back. "I'll help Max torture that man. Ritter, could you help Arlyn bandage his head please?"
He gave them both a gentle smile and walked back to where Nikolas and the others were. Ritter watched him go, waiting until Ubell was out of earshot until he turned back to Arlyn and narrowed his eyes. "Where the hell have you been Arlyn! I've been looking for you ever since you left!" Arlyn cringed and looked to the ground, one of his hands reaching up to rub at the side of his head. "Keep it down, I’m still seeing three of everything. And your yelling is not making it any better" Ritter gave a groan and stepped forward, grabbing Arlyn by the hand and yanking him forward, his free arm wrapping around the slim waist and pulling him tight against his body.
Arlyn gave a gasp as the air rushed form his lungs, his eyes halfway closed as he looked up, one of his hands moved up and gripped onto Ritter’s shoulder. "What are you doing Ritter?" Ritter leaned down slightly, letting his lips brush against the side of Arlyn’s mouth, he sucked in a breath and tightened his hold. "Something I should have done a long time ago" Ritter let go of Arlyn’s hand and cupped his cheek, turning his head gently and pressing his lips to Arlyn’s soft flesh. Arlyn stilled, his mind going blank as he felt Ritter's lips on his, he felt a hand grip his ass and he gasped.
Ritter groaned and plunged his tongue into Arlyn’s hot mouth, his eyes closing in bliss as he felt a pair of hands slide down his back and settle on his hip's, Ritter’s hand moved up Arlyn’s ass and slipped under his pants to grab bare flesh. Arlyn moaned and dropped the gauze in his hand, tilting his head to the side and letting Ritter dig deeper into his mouth, he pressed forward and rubbed his hip's up against Ritter's hard body. "Is this a bad time to say 'i got him to cry like a girl'?" Arlyn's eyes went wide and he yanked away, his cheeks turning a shade of red, his hand came up and covered his mouth in shock.
Ritter stepped back and glared over at Max. "You could have waited Max" Max grinned and turned to walk away, rolling his shoulders. "Yeah, but I wanted to see you give Arlyn a tongue fuck. Gotta say though, I knew you had the hots for him, and you can't deny it this time" Arlyn snatched the gauze from the ground and ran out of the small clearing, his hand still over his mouth. Ritter watched him go and then turned to glare at Max, his eyes filled with rage, he stormed past Max and headed after Arlyn.

~~~ Three hours later~~~
Nikolas sat up slightly as the truck slowed to a stop, he glance around and smiled as he saw the neon sign of a hotel resting above the hood of the truck. Ritter climbed out and headed to the side of the truck, leaning over the slight lip and handing Nikolas his wallet. "Get two rooms right next to each other with king sized beds, pay cash only" Nikolas nodded and grabbed the wallet offered to him, leaping out of th truck and heading to the main lobby. Ritter smiled and looked down at Ubell, pursing his lips as he saw the younger asleep, he turned and walked back to the driver door.
"Hey Max, Ubell's asleep. You carry him and I'll get Arlyn" Max managed to lift his head enough to nod at Ritter, watching as Nikolas came back from the main room holding two keys, one in each hand. "They didn’t have anymore rooms next to each other, so I managed to get ones that were only a few doors away from each other. Is that okay?" Ritter shrugged and grabbed one of the keys, putting it into his pocket and reaching inside the truck to unbuckle Arlyn, hoisting him into his arms like a child.
"Max, you Nikolas and Ubell share the remaining room, and no complaining. Take a good rest and I'll see you in the morning" Nikolas saluted Ritter and turned, grabbing the bags and taking off to their room, Max following with Ubell in his arms. Ritter closed the truck door behind him and headed off to his room, glancing down at Arlyn every few steps to make sure he was still asleep. He grinned as he reached the room, sliding the key out of his pocket and unlocking the door with ease, keeping Arlyn pressed against his chest with one arm. Ritter stepped into the room and closed the door behind him, walking to the bed and laying Arlyn down on it, he went back to the door and locked the bolt.
