I just stand there staring at my bedroom for awhile. Everything looks so new and improved. My sheets for my bed were replaced by new silky smooth black ones, and a nice, warm, red comforter. The pillow cases are black with red swirls. My personal decorations were arranged differently on my dresser… My dresser!
I run over to it and pull open the drawers… and realize they have been untouched. Good thing too, because that’s where I keep my pads and things… Speaking of which…
I grab one and stuff it into my pocket, then step over to my door and peek out at Takeru. He seems a bit preoccupied at the moment in the living room, so I am able to sneak across the hall and into the bathroom, locking it behind me. Hopefully this stupid period would be over soon… I have other things to worry about!

The night of the triple date, Nick is a bit more nervous than Takeru and I are. “Okay. So, first off, don’t do anything to anger any of the girls tonight, okay? Please?”
“What if it’s not our fault the girls get angry?” asks Takeru.
“Then comfort them!”
“And what if I don’t even want to go in the first place?”
“Oh, you’re going, Takeru.” Nick grins at him like a psychotic clown. I have to look away, not wanting to be reminded of terrifying movies I saw as a kid. “I’ll tie you up and drag you there kicking and screaming if I have to!”
“Whatever,” Takeru sighs, looking bored.
Then Nick turns to me. “I probably don’t have to worry about you, but if you do anything to ruin this night, I’ll never hear the end of it! She might even dump me for real this time!”
For real? She tried dumping him before? “Don’t worry, Nick, I promise you I’ll behave, alright?”
“You better behave, damn it!”
“Okay, okay, calm down.”

-At Some Restaurant-
Kerri and Takeru are both being so quiet. It looks like neither of them really wanted to come. Maybe Molly threatened Kerri, like how Nick threatened Takeru. Molly and Nick are laughing and having a great time. And next to me is Candice. I have to admit, she really is a very pretty girl. Her skin reminds me of chocolate, which gets me hungry and thinking about candy bars. “So why aren’t you going to school too, Alec?” she asks me.
“Oh, because I can’t really afford it yet,” I explain. “My family doesn’t have much money, and I didn’t get the best grades in high school. I’m probably not smart enough for college anyway.”
She giggles at me. “Do you really think Nick and Molly are smart enough? They’re barely passing.”
“Haha, really?”
Our conversation takes a few twists and turns throughout the evening. I learn that she was on the diving and swimming teams in high school, and that she is studying to become a nurse. She is the middle child of three, and has a rather easy-going family.
I tell her about how I lost my father at a young age, so my mother had to raise me and my sister. I leave out any bits of information that could lead to the discovery of my true gender though. It’s surprisingly difficult to accomplish successfully.
By the end of the date, even Kerri and Takeru are starting to open up and socialize a bit more. Overall, it turns out to be a pretty fun night.
“I’ll talk to you later, Alec,” Candice says to me, planting a soft kiss on my cheek. I blink in surprise. Why did she just kiss me?
Takeru doesn’t get a kiss. Instead he just shakes hands with Kerri, and that looks to be enough for the both of them. Nick and Molly, however, have to go all out with a sloppy kiss. I ignore them as I walk through the parking lot, sitting in Takeru’s car with him as we wait for Nick. The silence is a little too much though. “So, tonight wasn’t so bad, right?” I say, trying to start up a conversation.
“Uh huh,” is all he responds with, checking his watch.
I chew on my bottom lip lightly as I think of something else to say. “Do you think you might ask Kerri out on a real date sometime?”
“Probably not.”
“Oh…” I don’t know whether I should feel relieved or not. I know I have a crush on him, that much is very obvious to me.
“Are you going to ask Candice out on a real date sometime?” he then asks me.
Ehh… “Probably not,” I sigh.
“Oh,” he simply says.
I frown. Is he normally this quiet? Maybe he really did hate the triple date idea after all.
He starts the engine and pulls out of the parking spot then, leaving Nick behind. I look back at the angry guy as he shouts at us, then I turn to see a grin on Takeru’s face. Maybe he actually did have fun then, especially after leaving Nick behind at the restaurant. I smile a little and watch out my window. I wonder what a real date would be like with someone, preferably a guy I like. I’ll have to wait two years though, I tell myself. But if these two years end up being a lot of fun, then it’ll all be worth it.
