Brothers

Sorry it's so short. Expect another update soon!

“So it just forced its way through?”

Roland nodded.

“It was quite a shock to the technicians. But this one didn’t act so violent, he allowed himself to be detained.”

Kara felt a cold stone rest in the pit of her stomach as they took the elevator down to the holding cells. The doors slid open to total chaos, something Kara had never seen at the holding cells. A panicked handler pulled Roland out of the elevator and practically dragged him to the camera room.

“They were fighting sir! It was pretty violent; they made sounds I’ve never heard before. They beat each other up pretty badly but they won’t let anyone into the cell.”

A short clip of the fight played on the screen, a terrifying display of strength and anger. Kara snatched the handler’s keys, darting down the hall to the double cell. Roland called after her but she ignored it, opening the hatch cell and locking herself inside, keys in hand.

“Kara what are you doing!”

“I understand Roland! They speak wolf, that’s the language they use, yesterday he made me part of his pack. This other specimen is trying to establish dominance, but if he sees that he has a pack the fighting will stop because that makes him dominant and the keeper of this territory.”

“Kara they aren’t of this world, they don’t even know what a wolf is!”

She gripped the bars desperately, anger rising up in her chest as she spoke.

“Don’t you remember my dream? They do know and I can prove it! We don’t even know what’s on the other side of that portal; if my experiment works it will give some insight as to where the portal goes.”

Kara unlocked the hatch and pulled it up, stuffing the keys into her pocket before sliding inside. She closed the hatch tight as the tension in the room almost suffocated her. Her pack leader lounged against the wall to her left; his hands were scrapped and bleeding badly. The newcomer leaned against the wall to her right, his chest was slashed and blood ran down his throat from where the other had bit him badly. His golden gaze rested heavily on her as she looked away. Her pack leader was also looking at her; he lifted his chin at her, a signal for her to greet him. She went to him and stood on her tip toes to reach him. She blushed as her body brushed against his, her nose nuzzling under his chin in submission.

“Dear brother you’ve started a human pack?”

Kara whipped around to face the cold voice. The new specimen knew how to speak, and well. She sat on the floor next to her leader, it seemed appropriate. He extended his busted hand to her, she glanced up at him but he was staring across the cell at his challenger. She looked back to his hand, blood dripping from his fingers. He wanted her to clean his wounds. She carefully took his hand in hers and gave his wounds a long gentle lick. A low laugh rolled from the challenger as the specimen next to her tensed.

“She is a smart little human, but her tongue will not heal as mine would.”

A growl rolled up his chest and into his throat.

“Her tongue will do me well Gallet, yours is far too harsh to heal.”

Kara was amazed, they could both speak, and despite their dominant stances, they seemed to hold themselves in a more human manner than before.

“You reek of your human.”

Kara looked up at him in shock, his nose was good, perhaps his hearing was just as good.

“He was worried about me; I stayed with him last night.”

“So long as he understands…”

His fingers brushed the light scar on her shoulder where his teeth had been the day before.

“You’re part of my family now. Gallet, you take a single step and I’ll rip your damned leg off.”

Her eyes went back to Gallet as he moved along his wall, his eyes never leaving her. She hated that golden gaze; she wanted to gouge those eyes out. Gallet growled in response to the threat, his lips sliding up over his fangs.

“I would like to see you try.”

Kara stood as her leader snarled at Gallet. Gallet stiffened at her approach and her leader did nothing to stop her. He wanted to see what she would do.

“Dallon, control your pack mate.”

She heard Dallon laugh a little behind her until she was face to face with Gallet. He sneered at her, he was almost two feet taller than she was but she didn’t waver as she glared up at him. He growled low in his chest at her as she swung her arm back and hit him hard on the side of his face, her nails digging into his skin as she dragged them across his cheek. A sound that reminded her of a lion about to bite rolled out of his throat as Dallon was suddenly between them. One of his hands was wrapped around her wrist protectively as she stood behind him; the other was about Gallet’s throat as he was pinned against the wall. Dallon’s fingers slid away from her wrist lightly as Gallet watched her, raging heat in his golden gaze.

“Your human is fearful for you, go to him. But understand it is me who has told you to do so. He holds no sway over me.”

Gallet let out a strangled sound as she moved towards the hatch.

“Dallon the bleeding heart. She’s yours! And you order her to run off to another male? You were always so kind brother.”

Gallet cried out as Kara crawled through the hatch, she heard flesh hit stone hard as she quickly shut and locked it. Roland was on the other side of the bars, a long sigh escaping him when he saw her unharmed.

so a little brotherly love going on, i'll do a better description soon. Until next time...
