Halloween Ball

As weeks flew by I found myself starting to appreciate my new life. Oh, I still longed for my greenery interior town but Jazz and Kadyn occupied now a good chuck of my daily routine, in a way that Timothy and Janet never did. Of course, in the few moments I spent with my parents, they couldn’t avoid to point out that they were right all along about the move. I hated to agree, so I never said it to them.

Since the first day in school, my new friends made me their new ‘project’. What this entailed? Well, it went from showing me the best place to eat lunch, beside the canteen tables, Intel on the other students and teachers, a tour to the school grounds and introduction to the art club. But their program wasn’t limited to school, since they took me around the city and showed me the cool thrift shops, the ‘underground’ cafes, the museums, all those interesting places that odd people like us like to visit, they even shared their outside friends, all of which older than we.

To tell the truth, this aspect of the big city was welcomed and soon I could feel that my range of activities were increasing, not that I had become a social butterfly but my world opened to new facets that I could never dream to experience in a little town. Yeah! Look at me now, a traitor to my own plans of stubbornly undermining any enjoyment for living here. But could anybody blame me? I was growing, I was happy and more importantly I was free as the wind.

By the second week Jazz and Kadyn had already became frequent visitors to Cliff Shore Estate since my digs had an attractive factor which their houses didn’t possess, no parents’ interference. As a matter of fact, I had on one occasion met both their parents and I clearly could tell they didn’t saw our friendship with good eyes, as they mission was to transform them from oddities to proper society children, probably hoping that they would befriend the Lunar Group instead of the strange looking new rich kid on the block.

Speaking of Lunar Group, they were a thorn on my path, since they seemed omnipresent. Everywhere I turned around, Bam, they where there all smiley and available. God, they even seemed to have access to my house, I tell you they were like lice. Besides they had managed to fall in my parents good graces who at every change couldn’t stop to rave about their background and good manners. But if they thought I would cave in and start any kind of relationship with them they were mistaken, if they were clingy as lice I was a stubborn as a leach.

I avoided every unnecessary contact, to the point of refusing to do school group work with any of them, because unfortunately they were in all my classes, this is with the exception of Art class, but even there they crashed with the excuse of being models for the poor art kids.

It pained me to admit but they made very good models and even the grave mood of concentrated painters changed whenever they were present. But what can I say, they had nice bodies and probably figured in most of our student body wet dreams. If they figured in my dreams? Ha ha… They wished… well I can’t say I recall all of my dreams and I’m being truthful when I say that ALL of them weren’t recreated by my subconscious during sleep time, but… oh damn, yes some did ‘visit’ my bed.

To my defense I’m a healthy teenager and after two hours of watching male muscular hard bodies who wouldn’t drool a little bit?

What I couldn’t figure out was why they were so interested in me? Yes, I knew I was their target because they bluntly ignored Jazz and Kadyn and according to them the Group never showed so much interest in any outsider. I couldn’t stop thinking that their ‘concern’ was a byproduct of living at the same avenue that gave their Group its name. Or was because they wanted to pull a ‘Carrie’ prank on me? Nevertheless it was strange, especially since I was never the target of so much attention.

“Daniel the plan went well?” asked a short brown haired boy with honey colored eyes and 6 feet tall fit body.

“Yes Benjamin. As I gave them the invitation I told his parents that the Halloween ball was a big social event.”

“Did they seem interested?” a shoulder length blonde girl with dark brown eyes asked.

“Yes Tara, you now that they are determined to fit in and to their eyes this is a great opportunity.”

“Thank you for helping us Daniel.” The attractive girl said before giving him a tight hug.

Saturday morning while sitting at breakfast I noticed my parents’ intent glare. That meant two things, I was going to receive some news and I would not like them.

“Son we were invited to a Halloween Ball and you’re going.” My father simply stated.

“What?” I angrily asked “You know I have no interest in your kind of balls and parties.”

“Honey we love you but I’m tired of you always making a big drama when we ask something of you. This ball is for all ages, so it’s not like you are going to be the only teenager there. As a matter of fact our neighbor’s sons are the same age as you and they are going. You’ll be able to wear a mask and that’s a lot of fun. Besides, everybody has been asking for you since you missed our welcome to the neighborhood party.”

I breathed deeply “Ok mom this time I’ll go. But I don’t even have a disguise.”

“Silly you don’t need a disguise only a mask, since it’s a black tie kind of party.”

“You can go to town and buy a mask. David has already prepared a tuxedo for you.” My father added.

After a very quick and light breakfast, since my appetite went out the window. I phoned Jazz and Kadyn to invite them to accompany me on my forced shopping trip. Unfortunately they were both busy and had to decline, but not before giving me great news, they were going to the ball.

Downtown in a small little shop I found something that plastered a big smile on my face. If I was going to be compelled to attend a ball I was going as I saw fit.

The high society of Lisbourgh was quickly filling the oldest ball room in the city. All the men wore expensive tuxedos and the women astonishing ball dresses. The most exquisite and exotic masks gave them a sense of intrigue and a chance to pretend. Even in the middle of all this wealth a group of eight managed to draw attention, probably due to their natural elegant poses or the sense of purpose they seemed to radiate.

“Today nothing can go wrong. You remember the plan. As soon as I secure him proceed to the meeting place.” A young man, covered with a simple black mask that only displayed his lips, said.

“They’re here.”

A man and a woman were entering the ball room partly hiding behind them a third person. They were fast approached by a group of masked men and women that were excitingly talking with them. I swiftly crossed the room, knowing that a beautiful young woman with a plumed mask was following me, and approached the group as they were starting to disperse.

That’s when I saw him. And what a sight! He was dressed in a black Classic Cheongsam, imbued with silver cobwebs at the end of its long bell shaped sleeves, that displayed his fit body, black pants and shining leather shoes. His hair was arranged in a single shining black braid that caressed his firm ass and for the first time displayed his pierced ears, a black velvet mask only covered his eyes area intensifying its jade-green colored eyes and contrasting with his ivory skin.

I grabbed his hand a started dragging him to an empty alcove at the end of the ball room. At first he resisted but seemed to relax when glancing at my companion. I smiled. Everything was going according to the plan.

“Jazz, Kadyn nice masks. I’m glad to be away from the vultures.”

“Ash we’ve been waiting to talk to you but you’re avoiding us. So this was the only way.” I said as six other people joined us.

“Michael” he looked around “and the rest of the Lunar Group, I presume” he stated while sighting.
