Chapter 4
~~~~~
Tina turned quickly and found them both a bucket. "There's a wash barrel outside to the right, and a stream down the bank just outside. Fill it most all the way, an I'll boil some wa'er in 'ere for you." She said handing their buckets to them. Analeya nodded in response and took both buckets; handing one to Kaylen. "Kan neidan kan." Kaylen nodded taking the wooden bucket from her. She was rewarded with a smile before Analeya bowed lightly to Tina; Kaylen mimicked her before they left for the stream.
Outside, Kaylen paused a moment and looked around trying to take it all in. Chickens ran freely near her and a rooster idly called around the side of the house. To her right a little ways down the side of the house was a large wooden barrel that could easily fit two people. To the left of that was a large fenced garden. Full plants, heavily weighted by their fruit, grew strongly within it's barred embrace. Flowers, mingled with herbs, grew around and into the bottom of the fence. "Kaylen..." Analeya's voice broke her from her stupor and she looked towards the voice. The older elf was already a ways ahead near the bank. Bouncing a bit, she ran over to her before walking alongside her down to the stream.
She squealed instantly upon seeing it and ran as fast as she could to it. Analeya tried to stop her but gave up when she realized they were going to get wet eventually anyways. Splashing her way into it she laughed loudly; happy to find something so familiar. She tripped on a rounded aged stone beneath the water and fell face first into the cold moving body of water. Rolling over and sitting up she was greeted by Analeya's warm laughter. "Asan doi la lan, dorri gahan." Nodding, Kaylen complied and began filling her bucket which was bobbing with the current near her.
Once the buckets were filled, Analeya showed her where to take the water. After the first trip they returned for another. They both kneeled next to the water, "Le veya haman Leyad Danin morre." Analeya said smiling at her and Kaylen blinked a bit. "Veya hamanda. Vah dan kanankei." The older elf nodded as the buckets filled a second time. "Nan." Analeya splashed the water a bit directing Kaylen's attention to the stream. "Vei 'water' hehaman veya senun. 'Water' un shaha." Kayle watched and listen rolling the foreign language over in her head. "Wa..." She fought to pronounce it. "Wada..." Analeya nodded and they took their now filled buckets back up to the wash barrel.
They continued this monotonous task until the 'tub' was filled most all of the way. Putting her bucket down, Analeya walked inside. "Miss?" Tina was tending the fire wanting to make sure the water was as hot as possible. The flame-haired woman looked to Analeya. "We've finished filling it like you instructed." Nodding, Tina grabbed a think woolen cloth off the table and removed the boiling pot of water from the fire. Outside, Kaylen had her arm in the barrel, "Wadarr..." A smile was etched on her face as she tried to memorize the new word. Analeya came and pulled her away so that Tina could pour the scalding liquid into the makeshift tub. " 'Ere we are." She said as she finished pouring it. "Once you're done, come on in and 'll see to your clothing." She returned inside and Analeya picked up Kaylen; putting her into the water before climbing in as well. Together they sat in the warm water smiling.
Author's note:
I've noticed quite a lot of people reading my story but not many reviewing. While I'm frustrated at this, I know in a way it's a sort of blessing. If my story was, in fact, complete crap I would have had a flame by now. Perhaps telling me how bad the story was, or how it lacked imagination. Since there are none of those I can only think of one thing: Many of you consider this fiction to be 'half-assed'. Well my literary friends, without your help by reviewing that is exactly what this fiction will remain. So if you wish to see better anything or fixes, you must review.
Also if you feel the urge to compliment my work then go right ahead. Though I ask that if you do want to give me positive feedback then please, that you do a bit more than, "Yay! Awesome!" Now it's not that I don't dislike the loving words of happy praise from readers, it's just that that doesn't help further my writing at all.
Well thanks for reading. The next chapter is written and just waiting to be typed up. As it stands now:
