Ties that Bind

“Milo please!” Gabriel followed behind the stomping demon. “You know if its God’s will that you help me with this....”
Milo stopped dead in his tracks, causing Gabriel to run right into his backside. The demon whirled around, and grasped the angel by his slender throat, squeezing quite forcefully. “You listen to me you tight assed, self righteous flyboy!” Milo hissed in his face. “I am NOT getting involved in this, and you are not going to make me. No one is going to make me!”
Gabriel’s eyes went wide, and not just because his air supply was being cut off by an outraged demon. “Shut up!” He squeaked desperately.
“No one is making me!” Milo shook the slighter form of the angel as his hand dug fingerprint bruises into the creamy white skin of his throat.
“Please!” Gabriel kicked out hard, hitting Milo square in the shin. “Shut the fuck up!” He screamed as Milo turned loose.
The demon released his prey with a roar of pain and hopped around on one foot. Gabriel collapsed to the ground on his hands and knees, choking as he drew in a ragged breathe.
Milo rubbed at his abused shin bone and glared at the angels collapsed form. “I mean it!” He growled, so furious that he saw nothing but red.
“Please don’t.” Gabriel whimpered as he raised his eyes to meet Milo’s.
“No. One. Can. Make. Me.” Milo bit out each word, then he turned back towards the gate and continued on his way.
Gabriel groaned from his spot on the ground as he watched Milo stomp onward. As the demon reached the gate, the angel felt the first tentative tug at his ankle. Awwwww fuck!
Milo felt it too, a small, almost gentle pull at his ankle as he neared the gate. Ignoring it , the demon went to step through the gate, and abruptly found himself flat on his face as the gentle pull at his ankle suddenly turned into a mighty yank.
Milo lifted his head and spat out a mouthful of graveyard dirt as, for the first time in countless centuries; pure unadulterated panic flooded his system. Immediately he resumed his full demonic form, and again lunged foreword; only to be summarily hauled back to where he started.
Rolling over onto his back the infuriated demon grasped at the invisible chains binding him, but they slipped through his fingers like water through a sieve. He couldn’t grab them. He couldn’t break them. He couldn’t even see them for fucks sake! Nevertheless, they were undeniably there. Milo beat at the ground, and howled his fury into the night. Finally, exhausted; he resumed his human form and just lay there panting on the ground.
It was the sound of laughter that finally got him moving again. Milo slowly pulled himself back to his feet, and walked back to towards Gabriel.
The angel had rolled himself over and now sat with his back to an old tombstone, giggling in such a way that Milo was fairly certain that this most recent turn of events had just unhinged his old nemesis.
“NO ONE can make you eh?” Gabriel continued to giggle insanely. The angel plucked a dead leaf from his long, red hair and smiled at it fondly. “Well.... unfortunately for you, NO ONE apparrantly heard you say that.”
The angel lifted one leg and wiggled his foot meaningfully. “And now.... We are linked together for only God knows how long.” Gabriel sighed. “And he’s not telling.”
Milo scowled darkly and sat down on the ground near Gabriel. Linking’s were extremely rare, and to his knowledge a demon and an angel had never been linked before. Well.... fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck!
