Life

He swings his fist at the ones who hold guns, and smirk at pitiful effort. She takes the number of the next man, adjusting her skirt from the last. They figure it’s better not to tell other partners of the diseases they swapped. He falls, his heart stops. She stares, and wraps her arms around the part that no longer belongs to just her. They watch, as the ones they fell in love with are lowered into the ground. All feel sick, all feel numb, all ask why. Wonder how could it happen. Why to people so eloquent and perfect. Mortification, humiliation, pain staking sacrifice, words that never cross the minds of those who destroy. Everyone. He watches his own funeral, and the minister who sadly shakes his head at the pathetic turnout. She looks at the doctor, who sadly shakes his head and takes what could’ve been salvation from her body. They stand together and watch, as family members sadly shake their heads as they watch good people die by useless means. As such, all still wonder why.

Will you ignore the facts for pretty lies?
