Chapter 4

Lucas was confused. That’s all there was to it. Every time he thought back to the kiss, his mind became confused with so many questions; like why. Why had he kissed Blake? And why had Blake kissed back? These were all questions that ran through his mind a thousand times over. Did this qualify him as gay? Or was he bisexual? It just raised more questions the more he thought about it. The only thing that was clear to him was that he needed to talk to Blake. Could they still be friends? Or the main question that seemed to like to torment him; was there something more to their relationship?

Sunday seemed to pass by slow for Lucas. He wanted to go see Blake and try and figure the problem out, but somehow he felt that if he went to go see him then it would only create more problems. He tried to work out to try and get his mind off of things, but didn’t work. It seemed like everything around him reminded him of Blake. His mom seemed to notice his tension and tried to console him. “It’ll turn out alright.” She told him with a smile. Lucas tried to tell himself that she didn’t know what was going on between them, but he knew that wasn’t true. She clearly saw his feelings for the Blake.

It was Sunday night when he decided that he’d have to corner Blake after school. But the problem was he had practice after school on Monday. Then he thought of a solution that should be easy. He picked up the phone and dialed Blake’s house number. He heard it dial about four times before someone picked up. “Hello?” Jenna Kelton answered the phone. “Mrs. Kelton, I need a favor.” He told her. She stopped and he could hear her anger in her voice. “Whatever you did to Blake, I suggest you make it right again.” She told him. Lucas sighed; how could he figure that she wouldn’t notice. It was obvious that Blake was her favorite while Jason was Coach Kelton’s favorite. “That’s what I’m calling about.” He told her.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone before Jenna spoke again. “Oh, how do you need my help?” She asked, the anger gone from her voice. “I have practice tomorrow, but I need to talk to Blake. And the only way that I can get out of practice is to have a doctor’s note about an injury or an appointment. So I was hoping that you would write me one so that I could talk to Blake after classes.” He waited for her answer, hoping that she would agree. After a few moments of silence she agreed. “If you want to, I would like to know what exactly happened between the two of you to make Blake go into such an emotional crisis.” She asked, obviously concerned about Blake.

Lucas sighed; she did have a right to know, but a part of him would like to keep it to himself until he knew whether or not it was going to work between Blake and himself. But he finally decided to tell her what had gone on. After he finished the story he waited for her to react. “Alright, come by my office before you go to school and I’ll have the note ready. But there are some things you should know before you approach Blake. It was part of the reason that we moved away from New York and decided on the small town of Johnsonville.” She told him, sadness lingered in her voice like a light veil. Lucas made no comments or noise as he listened to her. “First we came to Johnsonville because my mother was very sick and the doctors didn’t know how long she would last. She and Blake had always been really close and so her sickness had hurt Blake the most. But the reason that we decided to move to Johnsonville was because Blake had a horrible past in the city. There was a boy, Blake’s best friend Shawn, which was the first one to go out with Blake since he had found out that he liked boys. But after awhile Shawn started to get abusive; both mentally and physically. Blake became distant and full of hate. He even tried to commit suicide because Shawn had convinced him that he wasn’t worth anything. After he had been in the institute for a while he was put on some medications and let out. After a while we found out the reason for his near suicide. It was around that time that we were told that my mother wouldn’t live much longer. He is still on his medications and if he doesn’t take them on a regular basis he goes into a deep depression.” She finished, tears were evident in her voice.

Lucas was stunned to say the least. How could Blake have lived through that? Blake just seemed like a happy person. It was hard to imagine what Blake had gone through only a sort while ago. But Lucas was determined to make Blake see that he was worth a lot more than what Shawn had told him. “Thanks for letting me know.” He told her and then hung up.

That night he sat up thinking about Blake. Blake was just a beautiful boy. Lucas had given up trying to tell himself that he wasn’t in love with Blake Kelton. His heart had over ruled his head and he knew now that he was in love with Blake. His beautiful violet eyes shinning with amusement and laughter, his black locks framing his pale face like a dark halo. Blake’s wide smile was like an angel’s with a secret. There was nothing wrong with Blake. He was perfect among average mortals.

Lucas tried to think of ways to approach Blake. Lucas knew that Blake usually stayed behind in the Art room to help out with the cleaning. So he decided to wait for him outside the Art room and see what happened after that. He tried to think of what to say and do, but there seemed to be no nice solution than to face the problem head on.

That night, his dreams were filled with Blake’s pale skin under his tan fingers as they glided across his skin. Blake’s black locks of hair flowed out across his pillow. Lucas’ lips pressed against Blake’s neck in heated kisses. Blake’s hands ran up and down Lucas’ back as his nails bit into Lucas’ back. Passion, love, and lust filled those violet eyes as they gazed into his. Blake’s whimpers of passion and moans of pleasure rang in his ears as sweat poured off of his body. Blake’s scent mixed in with that of sex and sweat. “I love you” Blake whispered in his ear before disappearing into the darkness.

Lucas woke with a start when his alarm went off, signaling that it was time for him to start his daily routine. That dream left him hard and sweating all over his sheets. He could still smell the scent of Blake all over his sheets. It drove him insane, how a dream could feel so much like the real thing. Lucas let his mind come back to the present before he started to get ready for school.

Lucas kissed his mom bye and headed out to his truck. He had the drive to the doctor’s office to think about things. Once he had gotten there and inside the building, there stood Jenna holding out a letter, signed and dated. He took it and thanked her again. She smiled softly at him and wished him luck before heading into her office again.

He was going to make things right between Blake and himself again. And he hoped that they could eventually be something more. He felt determined and nothing was going to stop him.
