Chapter 4
A/N: A big thank you to Jessica, for pointing out a few very large holes in the story. I’d planned out how to make it all come together, and that is part of the update to this chapter. I needed to work some stuff out, big drama with a friend…but anyway, I guess you’ll have to re-read the chapter, but if you really don’t want to, you can probably just skip ahead. And I am a review whore. I will admit it I crave the reviews. Any and all reviews are welcome, even if they are telling me that I suck and need to go to Hell (those make me giggle). So please, even if you hate it, and are for some strange and bizarre reason still reading chapter 4, click the little review button and leave me a message. Please?

Alex returned to her restaurant, completely unaware of the plotting around her. Sam had acted like nothing was going on. None of her employees were acting strange. Everything seemed perfectly normal. Well, it did until she was locking up.
Just as she was getting into her car, she heard Sam’s excited voice on the phone, “You caught her doing what!?”
She stops halfway to her seat. ‘I really shouldn’t be eavesdropping here, it’s rude’ she scolds her self. It doesn’t stop her however. Especially when she overhears Ileana getting mentioned. ‘What the fuck am I missing? She’s my goddamned girlfriend! I have a right to know what’s going on!’
Sam abruptly finishes the conversation, and closes his phone. He turns around and catches Alex staring at him.
“Sam, what’s going on?”
“Ileana’s cheating on you.”
“Sam, don’t lie to me. I know she wouldn’t do that.”
“Then go home. If you’re so sure that she isn’t cheating, go home to her. She’s in your living room right now…from what I just heard, you may not want to go. But knowing you, you will anyway. If you are so damn sure that she is completely faithful, then go see for yourself. If I’m wrong, then so be it.”
“Fine.” She slams the door on her car, and speeds off, intent on proving him wrong.
The sight that greets her when she pulls into her drive is an unexpected one. A red mustang is sitting in the driveway. Still not believing what she’d been told, Alex rushes into the house, fearing the truth. There, on her couch, is Ileana…and Nicole…together. “Ileana,” her voice is deadly calm, “What is going on?”
Ileana looks up from her spot between the brunette’s legs and freezes, “Alex! What are you doing home so early?”
“Ileana, I thought this was over. Why the fuck is she in my house?”
“It’s our house Alex. And I invited her,” she looks to Nicole, “You should go. I don’t want you to see this.”
Nicole nods, and slowly climbs to her feet. She gathers her clothes from the floor, and walks past Alex, ignoring the anger rolling off of the blonde.
“It is my house Ileana. I paid for it, and it is my name on the lease.”
“Fine. It’s your house.”
“Once again,” her voice gradually increasing in volume, “what the fuck was that bitch doing in my house?”
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“Ha fucking ha! You swore you two were done after last time. What happened?”
“I’m sorry baby!” Ileana changes tactics and runs to her distraught lover, “I didn’t mean for anything to happen between us. I saw her at the store earlier, and I wanted to talk to her. I didn’t mean for that to happen! Please forgive me?”
“Ileana, I can’t do this again. How am I supposed to forgive you? Every time I do, I find you fucking her again. Ileana, you need to leave. I’m sick of doing this with you, and I’m not going to give in again. Get out.”
“But Alex—“
“I said, go!”
Ileana leaves without another word. Alex hears a car engine start, and collapses onto her couch, trying to block out the images that come to mind. Her phone rings suddenly, making her jump off her seat. “Guten Tag. Alex speaking.”
“Alex, it’s Aurora. Sam just called and told me what happened. Did she really cheat on you again?” Aurora knows it’s true; she’d been the one to call Sam and tell him. Hopefully, Alex wouldn’t know about her role.
“Yeah, she really did. I’m tired of it. I kicked her out.”
“Alex, I’m sorry. I’d hoped that things would change…but I guess not. Want me to come over?” Her voice sounds hopeful over the phone.
Alex doesn’t notice however, “If you want. I think I need a movie night. If you want to call Sam and everyone, I’ll get everything set up.”
“Sounds great. I’ll be there in a few minutes, and I’ll get everyone together for you.”
“Thanks ‘Rora. That means a lot to me. Is Chris going to be okay about it though?”
“I don’t really care right now. You need me more than he does, I’m sure he can handle a night alone.”
“So you’re sleeping over too?”
“Yeah…you know how I get. I don’t think you should be alone right now. I might be wrong, but—“
“No, you’re right. I’d feel better if someone was here.”
“I’ll be there in five minutes, ok?”
“Sounds good. See you then.” The line goes dead then.
True to her word, five minutes pass, and Aurora is ringing the doorbell to Alex’s house. Alex forces herself off the couch to answer the door, and nearly collapses into her ex’s arms, tears still streaming down her pale cheeks.
“Shh” Aurora soothes, “I’m here now. Relax baby, I’ve got you.” Aurora steers them back to the couch and pulls Alex into her arms. She hadn’t called anybody but Sam yet, knowing that Alex wouldn’t want them to see her like this. She’d only called Sam to tell him that it had worked.
“’Rora?”
“Yes?” her hands still making gentle circles over the fragile girl’s back, “What is it?”
“Why can’t I ever find a good girl?” the sob nearly breaks Aurora’s heart, “I mean, when we were together things were fine until…well, you know. And then there was Christa, and lets not forget Rachel. But every time I think I’ve finally found the perfect person, something like this happens.” She looks into the deep brown eyes that once held so much love for her. She is startled to realize that they still do.
“I don’t know. You deserve better than the girls you’ve been with. Not one of them has been good enough for you.”
“’Rora don’t.”
“Don’t what?” Their faces had been moving steadily closer.
“You know what. Don’t make me think you love me again. It’s not fair, and you know it.”
“Alex,” their lips ghost over one another, “I’m sorry for what happened. I do love you though.” Gently, she presses their lips together, nearly whimpering when Alex pulls back. “What’s wrong?” Aurora’s hand moves to cup Alex’s face, a frown of concern covering her face.
“What are you doing? 'Rora, what about Chris? And the kids? Hmm? What are you going to tell them?”
“I’ll tell them that I fell in love. You know as well as I that you can’t fight it. It just happens. And Alex, I’m sick of fighting it. I can’t do it anymore.” Her hand moves to the collar of her own shirt, and she pulls her necklace out of its hiding place.
Alex’s hand moves up to trace over the design, recognizing it in an instant. “You kept it?”
“Of course I did. I needed something to remind me of you.” She presses their lips together once more, hoping against hope that Alex would let it happen. Aurora nearly moans when Alex presses harder, and deepens the kiss. A tongue snakes out to brush over her lips, silently asking for permission. The tongues meet in a soft caress. Neither seeking dominance, simply getting used to each other again.
Alex does whimper when she feels Aurora’s tongue slide into her mouth, thoroughly exploring the space. Slowly and softly they kiss, more romance than lust.
Aurora decides to heat things up, and rolls them so that she is hovering over Alex on the couch. One leg slides between the blonde’s legs, and Aurora grins into the kiss as she pushes her knee into the over heated core. Alex tears their lips apart and groans loudly as the sensations work through her body. Hands work their way underneath the blonde’s blouse. Aurora rests the hands just under the hemline, reveling in the soft flesh under her fingertips. She does not push Alex any further, somehow knowing that Alex would be uncomfortable if things went too fast.
A soft moan reaches her ears, and she pushes her hands up further, exploring the tender skin gently. Her fingertips reach the small mounds, and she ghosts them slowly over the heated skin, watching for any signs of panic. Seeing nothing but longing in the green-gray eyes, she rubs lightly over the quickly hardening nipples. The nipples swiftly become hard points under her touch, and she sighs aloud. It had been so long since she’d felt this way during sex. With Chris, it was no longer gentle as it had been before they married. It had become rushed, and often times it left her unsatisfied. But this…with Alex…there was no doubt in her mind that she would be more than satiated in the end.
Aurora removes her hands from beneath the shirt, missing the heat immediately. Alex lets out another whimper in distress, and arches up, nearly begging for more of the gentle touch. With Ileana, it had never been tender. Ileana was simply not into tenderness during sex. Alex had gotten used to the rough, often painful joinings between them. But with Aurora being gentle as she was, Alex was loving it.
Through the fog, Alex felt the buttons on her shirt being undone slowly. Kisses were dropped as more of her skin was exposed. She nearly arches off the couch when a soft kiss is placed on each of her nipples. When the shirt is unbuttoned all the way, she feels it being pushed down her arms, and she reaches to stop it’s descent. Suddenly, as though snapping out of a daze. Alex sits up, “What are you doing ‘Rora?”
“Alex, calm down. I don’t mean to hurt you. I really do love you.”
“No you don’t! You love him. You will always love him. I’m not going to be second best again, not if I can stop it. Unless you are prepared to be with just me, I think you need to leave.”
“I can’t leave. You know I can’t,” she responds, reaching for the smaller woman, “I love you. And I’m not going to leave you alone tonight of all nights.” Her hand gently brushes a stray lock of hair from the beautiful face before her, “Damn it, Alex. What do I have to do to convince you that I’m serious?” Her voice is soft, and filled with longing as she asks the question they both know the answer to.
“Leave him.” Alex stares into the beautiful eyes fear evident in her own. Knowing the answer, and yet needing to hear it all the same.
Alex is surprised at the response she receives though, “I did.” Two words leave the blonde more confused than ever. Aurora sees this, and hastens to explain, “He and I have been nearing divorce for months. I filed the papers on my way over, and he signed them.”
“You knew this would happen?”
“No! Like I said, the divorce was a long time coming. I’d hoped we could get back together, but I didn’t know it would.”
“What happened? You two seemed happy…this wasn’t because of me was it? Because if it was—“
“Alex relax! It wasn’t because of you. Well, it kind of was, but not entirely. I was just so tired of him trying to rule my life. I couldn’t even wear the necklace around him because he thought I was cheating on him. Turns out he was the one cheating.”
“What?!”
“Yeah, all those late nights? All those times he said he was with the boys? Turns out he was with some college girl. I think she was an intern…I didn’t tell anyone about it. Thought we could work it out, but when he gave me shit about helping you, I realized that we needed to be over. You were more important at the time. This morning when I woke up next to you…I missed that Alex. I missed seeing you first thing when I woke up. I didn’t even know I was missing it until this morning when I finally felt right. Like I was where I was supposed to be. I left because I didn’t think you felt that way. I guess I’m kind of hoping that you might still love me? Even if it’s only just a little?”
“You know I do. Aurora, I never stopped. I just couldn’t let you keep hurting me.”
“I know, love. I can’t promise, but I’ll do my best to not do it again. It kills me to think that I’ve already done it once.”
“Shh, forget about that. Kiss me.”

A/N: So I kinda decided to say, “screw it” to adding onto this chapter. I did update it though, and I hope I managed to fill in some gaps without sounding completely stupid and well…stupid. Like I said above, I’m a review whore. So please? Review so I can be happy? You can even flame it and I’ll be happy (I don’t get many reviews so when I get one it makes me think that people are actually reading the story).
