Chapter 3- Suspicion

Wow, a review from someone OTHER then Falcon? I\'m touched. ^_^ Thanks for the review Moonstar, it\'s good to see you think so well of my work. Yes, I am not one for long winded chapters, it\'s not my style. But I\'m glad this one works well for you too. ^_^

Before we go onward with the chapter, I have something special to add. It\'s a picture of the mysterious man who \'looks\' like Antros, done for me by a friend. Just follow the link! Beautiful artwork indeed! Think of him as... my \'Writer Persona\' but going to be with a different name. ^_^

Chapter 3

The sound of swords clashing filled the near empty chamber. One of the guards was sparring with Antros, each one striking, looking for an opening. Antros so far had guarded against all the attacks thrown at him, yet hadn\'t made the move to strike yet. Taking a chance, the guard tried to rush foward, and Antros, seeing his chance, parried at struck hard against his opponent\'s armor causing him to fall and lose his grip on the sword.

\"Enough!\"

Antros looked to Rekia, who had been watching the match. Antros went over and retrieved the fallen weapon and helpped the guard up. \"Nice try.\" Antros said smiling.

\"Thank you sir.\"

\"That\'s good for today. You may go.\" Rekia said. Antros nodded and put away the practicing swords, which were left blunt on purpose so no real damage could be done. Antros normally prefered fighting with his own sword, but he hadn\'t used that sword in a long time. Every now and again, he would take it out and practice, but he continued to hold the sword given to him by Rekia to do his job. As Antros turned to go Rekia blocked his path. \"Hold on Antros. I want to ask you something.\"

Antros looked slightly confused, but saw no reason to not answer whatever Rekia wanted to ask. \"Sure, go ahead.\"

\"Antros, you may not have heard yet, as it particularly doesn\'t affect you much... there have been recent disturbances around the kingdom lately. Stolen things... people getting hurt.\"

\"Yeah I heard about it,\" Antros said, wondering where the conversation was going. \"But I haven\'t really paid much attention. Isn\'t that more along your department?\"

\"Yes it is, which brings me to ask you something. I want to know where you go at night.\"

Antros looked a bit shicked, but quickly his faced turned serious. \"I don\'t go around at night, and even if I did, it\'s none of your damn business where I would go.\"

\"I just want to make sure Antros. I\'m doing this because I fear for our guest. I\'m sure you\'d do your job well enough guarding Lady Ayisa.\" Rekia said, as if the matter had been closed. He turned to go out of the training room when Antros asked a question of his own.

\"Do you think I did it?\"

Rekia froze at this. From what the reports had described, yes he did have a feeling Antros was behind something. But he also remembered that the queen required proof before making an accusation. \"I\'m just doing my job Antros. I have enough problems as of now then to have to deal with this mystery any longer. If you have any information please share it with us.\" Before he closed the door however, he added, \"I would like for you to help us watch the castle tonight. The extra security would be helpful.\"

Antros said nothing as Rekia walked away.

Ayisa was kneeling down, watering some roses. They were white roses, carefully pruned and cared for by Ayisa herself. She outright refused to let any of the gardeners so much as touch them. They were her own to care for and that was that; nobody would disobey her. It was, Ayisa thought, a positive with being royality. People would always take heed of your words.

It was here, while Antros was walking around, that he saw her. Should have known. he thought to himself as he walked over to her. The way she was working at her precious garden made it seem that she hadn\'t noticed him yet. Antros smiled as he remembered how they had first met almost exactly like this. \"Hard at work I see.\"

Ayisa turned, and smiled. She didn\'t seem surprised to see him. In fact, judging from the look on her face, she had almost expected him to come looking for her. \"Well, they did need some watering.\" Antros kneeled with her, and she let herself rest on his chest, as she felt herself surrounded by his strong arms. She felt so much at peace when they were like this, alone and comfortable. \"Antros, have I ever told you how much I love you?\"

\"Only a hundred times this month\" Antros said jokingly. \"But yes, you have. And you know I love you too Ayisa.\"

Ayisa smiled and kissed him, her tounge rubbing against his lips. Antros kissed back a bit before they parted. \"Not tonight Ayisa. I promised Rekia I would help with guard duty.\"

\"Aww... you can do that any night. I\'ll talk to him and get you another time to do it.\"

\"I think he really needs my help tonight Ayisa. He wouldn\'t normally ask for it unless he had no other choice.\" Antros knew that Rekia didn\'t seem to trust him that much, be he didn\'t really care. If the queen trusted him, that was all he, and Rekia, would need. \"But don\'t worry. I\'ll make up for it tomarrow.\"

\"You promise?\"

\"I promise.\" Antros stood up and helpped Ayisa stand. He took her close and kissed her passionately, a reminder of his love for her and how he would never let her down. He led her back to the castle, holding her hand as they made thier way to go eat something.

No sooner had they left then another person jumpped down from his hiding spot in a nearby tree. He pulled his hood back to look at the place where Antros and Ayisa were moments before. His face was young, younger then Antros, and his eyes were a light red color. His hair, which was cut short and spiked upwards, was the same sapphire blue color as Antros\'. In fact, with the exception of his eyes, this man could easily pass as a younger version of Antros.

Walking slowly to the spot where Antros and Ayisa kissed he gazed down to the white roses. Taking one his in gloved hand, he took off the blooming bud of the nearest one. He gazed upon it\'s beauty for a moment and instantly crushed it in his hand. He slowly opened his hand to let the crushed petals fall, one by one, to the ground below. \"Enjoy your happiness while it lasts. For this time tomarrow, you will wish you had.\"

Spitting to the ground where the petals lay, he stepped on them, crushing and breaking them further until the wind picked up and carried them away, far into the sky where they could not be seen. No sooner then the petals had gone that the man was gone too, as if he merely sank into the shadow of the castle.
