Supplication
If I wrestle with an angel,
Will you pretend to like me?
Do I still live in danger?
Do you still try to shame me?
The only time I feel your skin on mine
Is when you think I've lost my mind
And we're running out of time
The only time you soften your face
Is when I seem to reflect your style
And just when I think I've reached your grace
You move back another mile
I cannot seem to find a way
To fit comfortably in your embrace
And now I'm going to go away
When I live on my own
When I'm out of your hair
When I've finally come home
When you turn around and I'm not here
Will you remember how I cried?
Will it matter that I tried?
Will you wonder how I died?
Will you pretend to like me?
Do I still live in danger?
Do you still try to shame me?
The only time I feel your skin on mine
Is when you think I've lost my mind
And we're running out of time
The only time you soften your face
Is when I seem to reflect your style
And just when I think I've reached your grace
You move back another mile
I cannot seem to find a way
To fit comfortably in your embrace
And now I'm going to go away
When I live on my own
When I'm out of your hair
When I've finally come home
When you turn around and I'm not here
Will you remember how I cried?
Will it matter that I tried?
Will you wonder how I died?
