Nightmares Revealed
Chapter 3
Nightmares Relived
The night was cool and crisp as Lilly walked through it, trailing her hand over the forever blooming violet roses. Setsuna’s garden never died, not even in the dead of winter.
“You would love it here Katie; roses were always your favorite,” Lilly whispered, sighing in sadness. The date was May 15, the day that the Bluebonnet Elementary Massacre occured. When her best friend lost her life, along with Lilly’s two sisters Megan and Bethany. It still haunted her, and for the entire morning and afternoon she had avoided her friends.
But Heero found her. He always did. Throughout the day, he held her hand and walked around the house with her. He knew what happened because of the memories she shared with him. Lilly appreciated what he was doing, but she needed time to reflect.
“It’s lonely sometimes Katie. You were the only one who really understood me. You were always different from the others,” Lilly sighed as she slumped on the ground in defeat. It was so hard, reliving memories.
“It’s not good to talk to yourself Lilly,” a monotone voice commented behind her. She laughed slightly and smiled.
“I wasn’t talking to myself Heero; I was talking to Katie.”
Heero slid to the ground beside her and she leaned her head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her and held on to her as unhappiness set in.
“We have a new mission, don’t we?” she grumbled. Heero nodded, but didn’t move. She tried to get up, but he held her closer to him and leaned back against a weeping willow’s trunk.
“We can stay like this for a little while Lilly. Setsuna’s not expecting us until Mina and Yusuke come back from their trip of visiting his family.”
Lilly smiled and wrapped her arms around his waist, leaning her cheek against his heart. She listened to the soft staccato beat and let it comfort her.
“Do you think she forgives me Heero, for not being able to save her?” Lilly asked quietly. She felt Heero nod his head and his hand lifted to brush some ebony locks from her face.
“She was your best friend Lilly. Of course she did,” he whispered. The young girl considered his answer and smiled.
“I thought you were supposed to be heartless Heero Yuy, but you make me feel better more then anyone here. Please don’t leave me alone, okay?”
Heero started at what she said before she closed her eyes and fell asleep. She actually wanted the person who killed for a living.
“Why do you want me?” he whispered hoarsely. He leaned his head back against the trunk of the tree and felt tears fill his eyes.
“Someone actually wants me.”
“So, Setsuna, what’s the mission?” Mina asked excitedly. Yusuke grinned at how chipper she was, remembering how she annoyed Kuwabara and Hiei in his world.
“Man, that was great!” he commented to himself, but Mina heard and threw a pillow in his face.
“You two, please settle down. Now, our mission is a very touch one,” Setsune said before going into more details.
“The leader of the Orion clan has recruited a new member, one more powerful then anyone we have fought so far. She is far advanced in martial arts and magic skills. She uses a long pike to attack, then powers it up with her magic. Last night she attacked the Phoenix dimension. She obliterated a small city there, killing all of the inhabitants, a total of twenty six thousand.”
Lilly listened closely to what Setsuna was saying, in shock that a woman could do such a thing to so many people.
“Hey Setsuna, is she cute?” Yusuke laughed. Mina smacked his arm hard and sat back, pouting. Yusuke rolled his eyes and said:
“Mina, I didn’t mean it.”
She seemed to brighten up with that and she leaned against his shoulder happily. Yusuke sighed slightly and put his arm around her shoulders and relaxed against the back of the couch.
Lilly noticed this and gave Mina a look that said: “I need details.” Mina just smiled and nodded.
“Well, I can give you details about what she looks like. The gods gave me that information for some reason,” Setsuna mussed before continuing.
“She is about 5’5” with a petite stature. She has a hear shaped face with an elf like nose and ears, and a heart shaped mouth. Her eyes are catlike with long eyelashes. They’re said to be an icy blue filled with hate. Her hair is really strange though. The front bangs of her hair are a pure, white blond, but the back is red streaked with blond. It seems to be natural that way. She wears the blond bangs down to her chest but the rest is pulled back in a tight bun with a…”
Setsuna wasn’t able to finish her comments because a loud crash filled the room. Everyone stared at the coffee cup that fell to the ground at Lilly’s feet.
“What’s the matter Lilly?” Mina asked, rushing over to her. Lilly shook her off and stared at Setsuna, confusion marring her green eyes.
“How can this be?” she stuttered fiercely, glaring at the older woman.
“How can what be?” Heero asked, his hand on her shoulder. Lilly turned to him, tears filling her eyes.
“She’s dead…but how…?”
Setsuna came closer to the girl, her garnet eyes staring intently.
“Do you know who this warrior is Lilly?”
The young girl nodded, eyes glazed over with pain.
“Katie…” she whispered before the world became dark around her.
