Four months had passed since Jason left, and her belly was starting to show.

“I’m pregnant” had she announced to her younger sister few days ago.

“I know.” Her sister admitted. “Who’s the father?”

A week ago, she would just break down and cry but now, she was more ‘reasonable’. She knew Jason wouldn’t be back and make everything okay. He couldn’t. He wasn’t there. He left. Without a real good bye. He just left.

“The father doesn’t know. And I don’t think he wants to know. He…”

“Was your first,” completed Cora.

“Yes. But I mean, he’s not here. Not in France. I met him at the airport. When I went there to bring your passport. Remember?”

Cora simply nodded her head.

“You know I’m on your side.” Cora said after a while. “You need to tell it to papa.”

“I know,” said Mae a little abruptly.

“You know he loves you. He will help you.”

“Help me do what? Go back to live with them. I don’t think so!” she said with determination.

“Then what will you do?”

Mae sighed.

“Move out,” she declared.

“Move out!” shouted her sister.

“Calm down. I have other news.” This time Mae was smiling broadly.
Cora eyed her curiously.

Mae rummaged through her purse during a minute and pulled a paper. A check.

“What’s this?”

“Read.” Mae simply said.

Reading the amount on the check, Cora’s eyes seemed to pop out of their orbs.

“Fuck me!” she exclaimed.

Mae laughed.

“Who gave you this? The father?” Cora asked.

“No. I got a contract. With Luc Besson. Three scripts. If it works we’ll continue to work together.”

“How did you…aw!!!!!! That’s great!!!”

“Yeah…Turned out that his visit at the library had really pleased him. When he called to thank Paul, he managed to ask him to read one of my works. And he called me two weeks after his visit.”

“But you said nothing!”

“Yeah, I was afraid that it was a dream. Or that he wouldn’t like my work you know. I wrote two scenarios for him. And he’s very thrilled. A signed for four more. With him exclusively. But he pays well.”

“I bet he’s thrilled about your work. We need to celebrate. But no alcohol.”

“No. It’s okay. Plus, isn’t Aurélien supposed to take you out tonight?” Mae inquired.

“Yeah. I forgot. But I promise, we’ll celebrate.”

“Go have fun. Papa will be here in any minute.,” affirmed Mae.

“You called him already?,” her sister asked bewildered.

“Better now than never. And mama is going to be there too. Don’t worry. It’ll be fine.”

“Remember : papa te quiere!”

“I know. Now go!”

“Who?” her father simply asked.

“You don’t know him. I met him at the airport.”

“A stranger! Estrangeiro!” her father shrieked. “What were you thinking!”

“I wasn’t thinking!” she shouted back. “I wasn’t.” and with that she sat back on her chair and started to cry.

“Ah, mi carina! I’m sorry my baby!” apologized her father.

Her mother took her daughter in her arms and rocked like when she still was a baby.

“You’re going to keep it, right?” inquired her father.

“Of course.”

“You’ll need help.,” he decided.

“No. I got a job. With Luc Besson. It’s very well paid, “ she protested.

“Really!” her mother exclaimed with teary eyes. “That’s good. You’ve always dreamed to work with him!”

“I know. I already wrote two scenarios for him and he’s thrilled.”

“So all you need know is a husband. Leandro is a nice person…”

“What!” Mae interrupted.

“You’ll get married. I won’t let my daughter suffer shame and guilt!” continued her father.

“But I don’t want to. And I don’t need to!”

“Oh, you old man! She won’t be getting married, if she doesn’t want to! Look around you, we’re in the 21st century!” added her mother. “Let her take her decisions,” she pleaded a bit softened. “Be happy for her.”

The old couple were facing each other with love.

“You will do as you please. But I want to know who is the father.”

“A stranger, “ she whispered. “Just a stranger.”

And her father knew better than to insist.

She knew they would never met again. There was no point in dwelling on Jason, and mourn over a thing that never really existed.
But something, well a little someone made the encounter real, and the little one was growing slowly in her belly.

§§§§
Five months later she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.

“How would you call him miss?” the nurse asked him.

“Samuel,” she said. “He’s name is Samuel.”

Three months later, she was flying in a jet with her favorite director, Luc Besson to Hollywood. They were going to shoot the second scenario she had wrote for the director. Luc had decided that no one was better than him to shoot the movie. So there they were, Luc finally back at directing and her, coming with him as an executive producer. He wanted to make sure that nobody changed her texts, and the things she wrote.

“Don’t worry. I’ll be there,” he had said before the plane took off. He was really touched by the girl and her situation. And he was struck by her talent. When he stopped directing, he hadn’t anything to put on screen anymore. And then, there was Arthur, the little comic he made. Of course he continued to work as a producer for some movies, but it made a while since he had directed anyone. He wanted his come – back to be, a great one. And with her scenario, he was dead sure it would be a success. He just needed the right actors for this movie. He didn’t want stars. Or not huge ones. He was thinking about Jason Ashcroft for the lead role. That little man, though he wasn’t little, has something of a James Dean in him. And he’s acting didn’t suck. He was meeting with David Shaffer, the boy’s agent, tomorrow.
Yes, the movie was going to be a success.
