“So how does this work?” Casey was asking.
Rick stood beside her, pretending to check if the neighbors were up and spying. This way he could have his back to Trina and he could lean just close enough to catch Casey’s scent. Sweet roses.
“I think you should go ahead and take Rick home for me, I’m going to have to stay here and wait for my parents. They’re gonna be home any minute.”
He hadn’t paid attention to anything else from Trina ex for for those blessed words. Yes. He would get time alone with Casey.
“Okay, cool. I’ll see you tomorrow, slut.”
“I’ll call, bitch. Nowinowing up randomly before noon.”
“Chowya.”
Casey was headed for her car, and Rick was just about to follow but Trina tapped him on the shoulder.
He turned into her kiss and tried not to stand so rigidly. He kept his eyes open, taking time to look at Trina’s face. Was it only two days ago he thought their relationship would last well past the 6-month danger zone?
“I love you, Rick.”
Uh-oh. Was he supposed to say the same back? While he was hot for someone else?

He settled for kissing her.
She must’ve taken it the way she wanted because the next words out of her mouth were, “See ya tomorrow, babe.”
