Chapter 36
Morning already? It couldn't be. It felt like he had only just laid his head down to sleep, and already the sky outside the small window was nice and blue. The room wasn't dark anymore. Every sign pointed to it being morning, and the clock on the nightstand confirmed it. 7 am.
Julian brought a hand up to rub the sleep out of his eyes. This time he hadn't forgotten where he was when he woke up. It was hard to forget with the person sleeping beside him holding onto him like that. Didn't know anyone who could hold onto something like that all night long, not that he had all that much experience with it. Maybe Kyun had a bad dream or something. Either way, it just made him all the more glad he had decided not to let the two Koreans sleep next to each other. He stretched and flicked the messy locks of purple out of his eyes before shifting onto his side to look at Kyun.
It was so nice waking up to that. Getting out of bed would be the hardest part. The idea of climbing out of those warm covers and facing a morning world without that Korean for a few hours was not all that appealing. He really needed to get up and get some exercise, but maybe a couple more minutes wouldn't hurt.
Grinning at the man's sleeping face, Julian wriggled closer and laid there admiring it for a few seconds. So cute. Didn't really want to wake the guy up, but he couldn't resist. He gently placed his lips upon Kyun's and ran his fingers gingerly over the side of the Korean face.
With a sleepy groan, Kyun furrowed his brows. A deep yawn forced itself out, and one arm was retracted to rub his eyes before he opened them. He fixed Julian a sleepy gaze, then flashed a lazy smirk, pulling them closer together and rubbing the smaller guy's back with his hand. The movement slowed down and stopped as his eyes fluttered closed, a quiet, content sound being heard before the breath evened out again.
It was hard not laughing at that, but somehow he managed. The only problem was being that much closer made him all the more unwilling to leave. 'You have to get up,' he thought to himself, 'or you'll be stiff as a board without proper morning exercise!'
He wanted to kiss his cute Korean again, but figured he should let the guy sleep. Probably needed it after the day they had. He carefully moved away, out of the warmth of Kyun's arms, and sat up to try and figure out which method of climbing off the bed over the guy would cause the least disturbance. Obviously it was to go over the legs, but part of him wanted to roll right over the man's body. Another little thing he'd have to resist.
Climbing off from the foot of the bed, he paused to look over at Luo and then lean over to kiss Kyun quickly on the cheek. Without waiting to see if he woke the guy up again, he hurriedly scampered out of the bedroom to find the little redhead on the floor of the living-room playing with a kitten while another two were asleep in his lap. Takuya and Kiyoshi were eating what looked like noodles for breakfast, but it smelled good.
Julian closed the door behind him, met by the little dachshund. He smiled and bent over to scratch it behind the ears and then walked over to sit on the free couch next to Takuya. Choi was still sleeping on the other one, though it was amazing the guy didn't wake up with all those people around. Not wanting to be the one to break the spell, he whispered a cheerful, "Good morning."
Shifting closer, Takuya smiled at him as he wrapped a friendly arm gently around him. "Good morning, little fella. Sleep well tonight?" He paused only momentarily, then added, "we made enough for four, so go ahead and find yourself a bowl if you're hungry..."
He smiled back. Why didn't people like Takuya? Yeah, he was a little persistent with the teasing sometimes, but he was a good guy. Julian nodded and looked curiously at the others'meal. Looked good. "I'll get some soon then, thanks." He looked down at the kittens to find the redhead glaring at Takuya. Before they could start arguing, he spoke up again, "Do you think they have any kind of sports room in this building? I don't think Choi would be very happy if I did my physical activities in here."
The yellow-haired Japanese swallowed another mouthful, then looked over at the lazy form on the couch. "I think you're right." He smiled, then looked over at Kiyoshi. "There was a basket hoop in the courtyard, right?" The other Japanese nodded, and Takuya smiled broadly at Julian. "Maybe we should go down there. Kyun said you were real kickass at basketball!"
"You'd come play with me? That'd be perfect." Julian got up to his feet and walked over to find some food. He couldn't fight the growing grin. Kyun talked about him? That was cute. He wondered what else his Korean would say about him, but it wasn't like he could ask anyone that, so he pushed it to the back of his mind and prepared a bowl for himself.
The little redhead was scooping the sleeping kittens up – somehow without waking them – and setting them gently in a little makeshift bed made from a wicker basket and a folded towel. He looked at Kiyoshi and when he spoke, didn't bother being considerate enough of the sleeping man on the couch to lower his voice. "I've got to go get some things from the pet store, so I might as well take Rex for a walk before he ends up shitting in here. Will you join me, Kiyoshi?"
Making a show of considering that for a bit, the response came with a shrug. "Sure. As soon as I'm done with this." The black-haired guy gestured with the spoon, then resumed eating.
"Are you guys stupid or something?" Takuya's voice was filled with disbelief, gazing from one to the other, and then at Julian in the kitchen doorway. "Someone should look after you, strawberry kiddo. I know Kiyoshi looks real big and strong compared to you, but he can't take Ramesh... You can't just set off like that!"
That did sound like a terrible idea. Julian came out and moved back to the couch to sit next to Takuya again. "He's right. Chances are Ramesh has figured out he didn't get who he was after in that apartment, and it isn't impossible that he's located us by now. If it can wait a bit, maybe we could all go or some pet supply stores deliver. We could find one in the phone book."
"Nobody asked you, chinchilla-boy. Stay in your own fucking business." Nele sneered at Julian and then focused on Takuya again. "Excuse me, but my fucking dog needs to fucking shit. Do you mind? I don't need him growing up constipated or he could end up looking like you so fuck off."
The yellow-haired Japanese got to his feet and raised his voice. "Fuck you, ugly little cherry boy. Just because Julian's taller, stronger and cooler than you, doesn't mean you have to get jealous!" He put an arm around the purple-haired guy, then smirked lightly. "My friend here is smart. Either you should grow a brain, or you should listen to him."
"Oh get over yourself! The only reason you're sticking up for the rat is because he didn't have the balls to stand up to you in the first place. I can barely stand being in the same building with you, Takuya, another minute and I'll tear a hole in your jugular." The little guy was turning red with rage. He snatched a leash off a coat hanger near the door and hooked it up to the dog. "I'm going to wait out front."
Julian blinked and watched as the angry little man disappeared out the door. Had he just been called a rat? That was a new one, and it was quite a bit more insulting than mouse or chinchilla, but wasn't much he could say to that. "Oh my... I hope he doesn't get hurt."
Shaking his head with a sigh, Kiyoshi pulled to his feet. His body language and eyes were sending mixed messages, as if he were unsure whether to be mad at Takuya or indirectly apologise for his lover's behaviour. He walked over towards the door with a loud sigh, not looking back.
Takuya turned to the guy next to him. "Don't listen to him. Envious people are like that." He paused, then partly withdrew the arm to pat Julian on the back with it. "Still in the mood for basket, I hope? I'm probably not as good as you are, but I'm still damn good!" The Japanese smiled, winking at the other youngster before sitting back down.
That guy was sweet. There weren't many people who would bother sticking up for Julian after someone just called him a rodent. To show his appreciation, he grinned and gave Takuya a friendly kiss on the cheek before moving to get nice and comfy on the couch for breakfast. "I'd never pass up a chance for some good competition. What do I get if I win?"
