Epilogue
Six months had past since Mammon was defeated once more. The threat of the Forbidden Seal was over, as John re-awakened the blood seal over the book and set it in the middle of the room where his daughter Monica once stood. Then together with Jessica and Aivon, John was able to destroy the castle and bury the book once more, hoping that it would become a forgotten legend, rather then a family keepsake. John had no intentions of letting his family come to possess something so powerful for that would surely keep them a target to those that wished to possess the power untold within that forsaken tome.
Aivon had let for his own ways, having to explain the situation to Elsa about Midas' whereabouts as well as visiting 'a friend'. Hisad was glad for a visit from Aivon and delighted to hear that Mammon was stoped. Despite attempts however, Aivon was unable to lead Hisad away from his own forest home and into the world. Hisad merely asked for him to wait, and that one day he could leave this place without worry. For now, however, he wished to remain in solitude.
Dosa and Sophia were waiting patiently for Aivon's return, and it wasn't surprising to find Resas there as well in the welcoming party. Dosa was eagerly awaiting to hear every detail about the fights and places his father had seen, absorbing the knowledge and information like a sponge. He seemed to recreate the perfect audience, gasping and cheering at all the right moments, right down to shouting out, 'You're really the best ever!" once the story had ended.
Resas had updated Aivon on all that had happened in the little town where he lived now, and offered to take care of Dosa for the night in order for Aivon spend some time with his wife. That night they began to passionately reexplore each other's bodies, both of them letting loose all their frustrations from being kept apart all this time. They continued their lovemaking well into the night, and it was only an hour after midnight that their bodies became too exhausted to continue.
Elsa, meanwhile had taken the knowledge of her own beloved quite well and had taken up a nightly ritual to wait patiently for Midas once more. She was certain that he was still out there, searching for a way to reunite with his only love. She knew that he would not be one to simply quit, not after he found something truely worthwhile to live for. No amount of her father's persuading had stoped her from waiting, and she knew no amount ever would. She was determined to wait until the day she died for him to return and welcome him back with open arms.
John, Jessica, and their daughter Monica had decided to go home once again, determined to live in peace once again...
"Happy birthday!"
A small crowd of people were gatered in Aivon's house, celebrating his son's birthday. Dosa was bursting with happiness, travling from room to room welcoming people, thanking them for gifts, and most of all, playing games with his friends. Monica was amoung them, laughing and smiling with the rest of the children as John, Jessica, Aivon and Sophia sat down together, drinking some tea.
"It's nice for a bit of normal activities. Compared to what else we do..." John trailed off.
"Compared to what else we do, this is cake," Aivon smiled and laughed. "Still, thanks for coming by. It's nice especially after all you've been through."
"It's no trouble at all," Jessica smiled to her long-time friend. "In any case, you only have a birthday once a year."
"You know, your daughter is the same age as Dosa isn't she... They are just good friends," Sophia mentioned, sipping her tea. "They do so well together. Like they were meant to be the best of friends all along."
"Doesn't surprise me," John said, draining the last of his drink. "I'm just glad to have her back, that's all." He smiled and leaned back against his chair, relaxing. It was a cloudless day outside, perfect for relaxing. The kind of day where nothing could go wrong, yet in all his experiences, John would expect everything to do just that. Still, he was happy for the most part. His role in destiny had been fulfilled once more, and now was a time to relax and hopefully live out the rest of his days without worrying for his family, or the world's troubles.
"Daddy!" The sudden sound of Dosa entering the room brought all four adults to look at him. He was bouncing up and down, giddy and full of energy. Aivon could remember a time when he too was like that, without the burden of knowing who he was and what he was destinied for. He knew he would eventually have to tell his son their family's fateful curse, but he would let the boy have his fun. After all, Dosa was only a kid once. He deserved that happiness. "Daddy! Daddy! Can I open my gifts now? Please?"
"Ok, ok... just wait a minute and let's get everyone together."
"I do hope I'm not interupting anything," came the sound of a new voice entering. Resas walked calmly into the room, holding a small gift in his hand. "Ah... here you are. This is for you, little man." He handed his gift to Dosa, who immediately looked to his father. With a silent nod, Dosa opened up the gift and pulled out the pendant inside. "Happy birthday, my favorite little shop helper."
"Cool! This looks great... Thanks!"
Dosa smiled, hoping to show off the pendant to his friends. And save for Sophia, everyone else had gazed onto that pendant with a look of surprise and shock. "Resas... where exactly did you get that pendant anyway?" John finally asked, hoping to break the silence and confirm everyone's suspicions.
"Oh that... funny thing really. I was on my way to get a gift for him when I bumpped into someone wearing this black robe. He gave it to me for nothing. Said something about not needing it anymore... Should I not have given it to him?"
The heroes could only stare in shock.
The last feeble light of dusk was quickly starting to fade. Soon enough the inky black of night would fall like a veil, covering the sky as the moon dominated the world for a few brief hours. A young woman was staring up at the star sewn sky, wishing and hoping for the day that would come, when all was right in her world. When the clouds of loneliness were broken by the light she wished and knew would one day return. Her midnight blue nightgown covered her body loosely, not helping much against the chilly wind.
She continued to wait, until the light of the moon was the only source of natural light around. It bathed her body in it's glow, casting a spell of serenity and peace around her. In this moment, she felt safe, secure, and all the more hopeful in finding her beloved. A light from behind her, emitting from a candle soon penetrated the night, casting it's own red glow against her body. She knew her father had, on more then one occasion, been forced to come out and bring her back into the house, before it got too late.
"You're going to catch a cold like that..." came a concerned voice.
It was a voice she knew wasn't her father's. It made her give a sharp intake of breath, realizing just where she had heard it before. Yet a part of her felt like her mind was playing tricks on herself, and that turning around now would be a bad idea. But still, she had to be sure if what she heard was real or fake. If it had been nothing more then a message carried on the wind's breath.
Her gaze met with that of a masculine figure, his body hidden by a black cloak. He had a hood that was covering his face and in his hand was the candle used to bask the two in light. His other hand reached up and pulled away the hood, revealing his youthful face which betrayed his ageless experiences. Elsa took a few steps forward, to ensure that the image didn't fade or change, and when she was certain, had thrown herself into his arms.
"I've waited... for so long..."
"I know," came the only response. It was all that needed to be said now. Two who had been forced to seperate, reunited once more. One who was bound by fate, another weaved into destiny and both secured in love. For a few moments, nothing else mattered or existed to them, save for the contact of their bodies in simple embrace that was anything but simple. Neither could seperate, lest fear that the world would tear them apart. Neither wanted to seperate.
"Stay here... with me," came the simple request of Elsa.
"Always," came the simple response of Midas.
