Chapter 34
Chapter 34: Warlock :
Johan felt so weak and bruised. He found it odd that he had only a few cuts and scrapes upon his body; despite the hard fight he had been given by the silver haired warrior. He gasped in horror as he saw Jasper pinned to the wall with the blade of the familiar seeming stranger at his throat.
Johan rushed on trembling and stumbling legs towards Jasper to aid him; using his sword almost like a crutch as he rushed towards him.
Abruptly it had come from out of no-where. A blast of sorcerious energy slammed into the silver haired stranger.
****************
Mikael groaned in pain as hundreds of tiny bolts of lightning seemed to be raging around inside of his body. He turned away from his prey to see whom had dared to intervene in his fun. His long silver hair cascaded over his shoulder and partially hide his face as he met the eyes of someone he least expected.
"I thought that Lord Aes'Dannan had sealed you away, Dragon Lord." Mikael observed in his typical monotone voice, "It appears he is not as powerful as I had first thought." Mikael noticed someone beside the Dragon Lord that he didn't recognize; but he felt an intense aura coming off the man. He supposed that time for playing was at an end. The Dragon Lord remained stoic and silent. He had did not make any further move. They were at a stalemate for the time being.
He sheathed his sword, and knelt down before the Dragon Lord. He unbuckled his sheath from his belt and laid it down before the Dragon Lord as he knelt. His pale eyes focused on the ground as he told those gathered there.
"I, Mikael, son of the valiant house of Stormblade, offer you my services to the Powers of the Dragon Clans." He said with deadly seriousness in his voice.
The stranger spoke, "We have not accepted the services of Warlocks since the vile Warlock Doro Psech slaughtered nearly three flights back in the Ancient Wars of the Dragon's Fall. We will not accept their treacherious hearts when so much is now at stake."
Mikael stayed knelt before them, "I did not speak to you. I offered my services to your Master."
The Dragon Lord remained silent as though considering the offer. It was well known the power and strength of Mikael Stormblade. But his heart was another matter. The warlock shifted too swiftly at times to the changing tide that best met his own interests more then the interests of others.
Jasper objected, "You can't serious think he'll do any good for our side. He'll betray us again."
Mikael snapped, "Silence, whelp! Go back to your mother's teat and leave the decisions of war to true men."
