Epilogue

3 Years Later

A small moving truck graced the driveway of my new townhouse. It was a small house, only three stories with another residence attached. The home was an ivory color with pale blue shutters and a recently landscaped lawn with shrubs and flowers leading up to the front door.

The grass was still a bit damp from the morning shower, but now the sun shone through the trees brightly. One of the chair\'s to my living room sat on the pavement and a few boxes were scattered around the driveway. Earlier this morning the two moving men and I had ran around like crazy men trying to keep the cardboard boxes dry by throwing tarps over them while it rained. I went over to one of the boxes and knelt down, pulling the tarp off.

The box seemed relatively dry, to my relief. I heard the screen door of my house open and I turned to see who had come out.

Logan came quickly down the front steps of our new home, carrying a big, blue tarp. He stared up at the sky and then at me," Guess we don\'t need this then. Rain stopped."

"That\'s good," I inquired, getting up and watching the movers carry in my recliner.

Logan came closer to my side, a hand wrapped its way around my waist and he leaned his head against mine," Look at what we have now."

He kissed my forehead and we turned to look at our new home.

My little brother, Robin, was an expert with writing and creating detailed stories, but when it came to talking he got easily confused and had a hard time explaining things - especially important things. I remember that day at the little cafe downtown where Logan, Justin, my brother and I had been sitting. Robin had been trying to explain to me why cats rub their heads together. I had been embarrassed at the time, and definitely confused. That had changed soon after.

It wasn\'t just an ordinary nudge, or a normal little display of affection.

It was my gesture to him that I wanted him to bond with me, but not just physically. I wanted his mind. I wanted his love and his affection. I wanted to spend every waking minute with him. I had wanted it then, and I have it now.

I found out that that simple, silly little head nudge was a feline way of proposing. It was rarely used anymore and only few knew the true meaning of the display. Most propose in the normal manner - candles and flowers and of course, a ring - which we did, but I received the true gesture of his acceptance.

It brought back memories of our first kiss in his living room one cool summer\'s night. It reminded me of jumping in the lake with him or kissing him under the stars. It brought back the times we had sat together curled up to watch a movie. It reminded me of the time we had danced like fools at the club - hands searching, hands groping each other, mouths eager for pleasure.

All that had led up to the time we made love for the first time. It had been during our time in Everton. He had asked me over and over if I really wanted to do this and I had said yes, of course. I had saw stars that night. I had never expected pleasure to feel so right, so whole. We had beautiful memories together, but my favorite was the day that he proposed to me.

It had been less than a year ago. He had taken me to the park, where our first date had been. He had a luscious dinner set up and somehow managed to get some candles to stand upright without starting a fire. I had laughed happily at the dinner he had made, definitely not the best cook, but still wonderful in my eyes. He had caught my hand suddenly, looking deep within my eyes. I had looked up with a bright smile, wondering why he had turned serious all of a sudden.

He had dug around in the pocket of his shirt, before extracting a small silver ring.

"Rave, we\'ve been through so much the last few years. I\'ve just fallen in love with you. I love every single thing about you, Love. I want to share what we have forever," He said in a serious, loving voice," Will you marry me?"

I remember the crazy thoughts that had ran through my head. Were same sex marriages legal? What would my parents say? How would we live? How could we get through this?

Those thoughts had left just as fast as they came," Yes...yes I\'ll marry you!"

I had snapped back into reality when one of the movers kept repeated the same question over, “Where do you want these boxes?"

I stared at him for a moment, "Oh, sorry. In the upstairs bedroom would be fine."

He nodded and carried some of the boxes inside the house. I felt Logan\'s hand on my back, moving its way up to my neck and gently rubbing my ears. I purred and kissed him softly on the lips.

"This is all ours now," He whispered.

And we deserve it. I was nearing 25 and was a recent graduate. Logan had moved straight into the main management position at a local automotive superstore. Yes, after all that fundraising we had been able to persuade the school board to buy a bus. After they bought a bus they began buying cars. So, now we use an environmentally safe grade of fuel, which won\'t harm the outdoors. It had been expensive, but well worth the cost.

Funny enough, Logan was my boss, for I too worked there. However, I was still a manager there and was in charge of the car detailing work that those under me did. I loved working with Logan, we\'d go to lunch together everyday and work the same hours. It was great.

I heard some movement from behind me and turned to see my younger brother Ren toting around a baby boy, my nephew, Connor. His wife, Tisha, was following close behind with their two year old, Michelle. Oddly enough, he had finally came out of his shell and became really good friends with Tisha back in school. The strange thing though, was that Tisha was Justin\'s cousin. So, both Robin and Ren had married (yes, Robin is married too) into the same family.

Ren swung little Connor around and the baby giggled and waved his arms around. Ren pulled him up closer to his chest and gave him a little kiss on the cheek.

"Wow, this is it? Nice place guys. You\'re making me jealous," Ren said, gently stroking his baby\'s fluffy light orange ears.

I walked a little closer to my brother, carefully taking the baby out of his arms. I had once wondered about having a family. I had always planned on marrying a girl and having kids. I never thought that I wouldn\'t have the opportunity to have any. But now, it\'s all okay. I\'m happy where I\'m at, plus I don\'t have to change dirty diapers or stay up during the night. I still had a happy husband to come home to every night and I still get to see children on a regular basis, both Ren\'s and my other brother, Rhea\'s.

Rhea had ended up marrying Charlotte. They were both incredibly smart, something I\'d never be. He ended up as a doctor, following in my father\'s footsteps and landed a spot as a children\'s doctor. His wife, Charlotte was a nurse there and they had one little girl, Kristen, together.

Ren\'s baby smiled up at me with big, round cheeks and eyes as blue as his father\'s. He had a long, fluffy little tail coming from his behind. He looked at me and laughed, clapping his hands. He was so sweet. He looked up at me and grabbed suddenly at my whiskers. I pulled him away, still smiling a bit, and handed him back to Ren.

"Let us give you the extended tour of our new home, shall we?" Logan said, ushering the rest of my family forward.

Little Michelle romped around our house like a curious little kitten would. Our living room was only half unpacked. I could see where Logan had been trying to connect the TV to the cable and had finally given up. I had said "Let the professionals do it, baby."

"The Kitchen\'s kind of messy. We\'ve been spending a lot of time in there, because our living room\'s not finished yet," I said, walking into the small eating area.

Boxes were scattered on the floor, and plates were beginning to pile up. We\'d been so busy the last few days and hadn\'t had much of a chance to keep up with the cleaning, working, and unpacking. A few of my motorcycle magazines were stacked up on the kitchen table as well as some old flowers my mom had sent as a housewarming gift.

"It\'s nice, though. Perfect for just the two of you," Tisha said, holding onto Michelle\'s hand, so she wouldn\'t touch anything.

"We\'ve got two bedrooms. One\'s going to be like a study I think or maybe a guest room. We\'re not sure yet. Maybe both. Our bedroom\'s pretty disorderly. Robin\'s volunteered to come over and help us redecorate," Logan said.

"He\'s really excited about it, too. Trust me," I added.

I heard some of the movers talking to someone outside and turned my head. Robin knocked on the front door and came in soon after.

"Hey! No volunteering, today?" I asked him.

He shook his head," It\'s my day off, but not Justin\'s."

He picked up Michelle and gave her a quick hug. She calls him "Uncle Wobby!" Which I find adorable. I see that look of admiration in his eyes. He\'s always wanted kids, ever since he was young. I think him and Justin have been tinkering around with the idea of adoption. I think it would be great for them.

We had sat around my disorderly kitchen and talked for a while. It was so nice to just....relax for a change. Life had been hectic, but definitely worth it. It was worth working and worth buying a home. It was definitely worth spending all day with Logan.

He was my world. He was everything I could have asked for in a partner. Caring, loving, and giving. I briefly wondered why I had avoided him for so long. We had missed out on so much, even when I was dating him in the beginning. It was so nice to be able to talk openly with my parents about issues we were having. It was good to be able to discuss things with my brother, Robin, because he\'d understand. My life is perfect right now, the very best it could get. This brings me to believe that I truly am the luckiest cat in all of Kingsdale!
