Chapter 33
Early Saturday morning I heard my door open. Someone squatted down next to the bed and began shaking me, even though I was already awake.
"Rave? Rave...time to get up. Time to get going!" Robin said, close to my right ear, "We're going to go out today, did you forget?"
"No," I replied, and he was still shaking me. I tried to push him away. He was worse than my cat, “Robin...give me a second to wake up, all right?"
"Okay," He said softly.
I felt him jump up the steps to my bed and he sat down next to me on the bed. I could feel his eyes on me. I finally rolled over and faced him. He was fully dressed in a blue and purple peasant shirt and dark blue suede jeans...I think they were the ones I wore to the club. I still wondered if he had realized I had worn his clothes. His left ear, the one with the white stripe, was folded forward again, making him look like those Scottish Fold breed cats...or whatever. His boyfriend probably would have thought it was cute. He was smiling at me with his eyebrows raised and leaned forward a bit.
"I'm ready to go. We're gonna have so much fun!" He stated.
"That's great...just give me a couple minutes-"
"Logan's coming in ten minutes. He just called," Robin said with a grin.
"What? Ten minutes?" I asked, sleepily pulling myself out of bed and pushing my brother off of it, "How'd he get our number?"
I threw on a pair of jeans and my favorite soft burgundy peasant shirt that Robin had picked out for me.
"You look nice," He said and then added," You look really good in that color, too."
"I gotta do something with my hair," I said, running into my bathroom to brush my teeth and add some gel to my hair.
He followed me in, watching me get ready," You never used gel before. Aww...you want to impress him, right?"
I looked at him in the mirror, wishing I had taken a shower this morning and not last night. I put some deodorant on and began brushing my teeth. I ran some gel over the tip of my hair, trying to avoid my ears, to make it look good.
"Are you ready?" Robin asked from beside me, “Cause I think he's here."
"He's here?" As if on command, I heard the doorbell ring.
I ran down the stairs and pulled the front door open. There he stood. It was strange how happy I was to see him. He noticed too and smiled brightly.
"So? You gonna invite me in? You gonna say good mornin'?" He asked.
"Come in," I said, moving out of the way for him.
"What? No good morning kiss?" He asked me with a grin.
I glanced at Robin, who stood just a few feet from us. He was smiling. I looked back at my boyfriend and gave him a quick kiss on the lips and felt a blush arise. Logan laughed softly, kissing me again on the cheek and held onto my hand.
"You're so cute when you're embarrassed," He whispered and nudged my head with his ears.
I pressed my orange ears against his brown ones and began purring. I was just so damn glad to see him!
"You guys are so sweet!" Robin said with clasped hands as he stared at us in admiration, “And Logan, you got my big brother to purr! That's a first!"
Logan laughed, “Actually it's not a first. I've got him to purr quite a few times."
"Really?" Robin asked with a raised eyebrow, briefly reminding me of Ren, “That's so cute!"
"Well, we'd better go-" I said, trying to change the conversation and get it off of me, for a change.
"Okay, I'm gonna get a jacket and then we have to go to Justin's house. He had some stuff to do this morning, so we have to meet him there," Robin said, pulling a khaki button up jacket from the closet in the hall.
I had never officially met Justin, just that time at the club. I think Robin had purposely kept me away from him at school, because he thought I would have made a scene. I suppose, at that time, I probably would have. But my brother talks about this kid nonstop - about how "wonderful and sweet" he is.
Logan and I found it amusing the way that my brother led the way to Justin's house. He was talking and talking about who knows what. I was shyly holding onto Logan's hand and would occasionally turn to look him in the eyes.
"Do you realize we've only been on one official date? Isn't that just unbelievable?" Logan asked, glancing at me.
I nodded, "But we're together all the time now...I-I kind of like it though."
"Me too," He replied, giving my hand a little squeeze.
I looked around the block we were walking on. We were getting close to a richer looking neighborhood. Not what I had expected. Robin always hated rich kids. He said they "were lonely and entertained themselves with money". But, apparently he didn't think that anymore, or this Justin kid was different. I wasn't sure.
We stopped in front of a large, five story light green home with blue shutters. Logan and I stood at the end of the driveway and watched my little brother go up the stairs to the home. He raised his hand to knock, but Justin opened the door quickly, startling Robin.
"Robby!" He announced at the door, walking down two steps and wrapping his arms around my brother. I watched him kiss him on the lips, without even a thread of embarrassment. My brother shyly let his head fall into his boyfriend's shoulder and I watched them exchange a few soft words before Justin joined us at the end of the driveway.
"I guess I should properly introduce myself," Justin said, holding a hand out to me," I'm Justin. Justin Parks. Age 18 and five months. I'm hoping to find a job in social sciences. I'm a Scorpio and enjoy long walks on the beach. Only been in a few previous relationships...obviously they didn't work out to well. Girls just don't cut it for me, ya know what I mean? But your little brother here...he's a keeper."
Justin wrapped his arm around Robin and I watched my brother's cheeks turn a light shade of pink. Justin was handsome with emerald green eyes and light brown hair. He was about as tall as me, which made Robin only an inch or so shorter than him. He had tall, brown ears that stood above his head and a long tail in various shades of brown. After staring in disbelief at his strange remarks, I finally shook his hand with a simple, "I'm Raven."
"I know," He had said," Robby talks about his family all the time."
"He probably didn't say much good about me...not that I blame him much," I admitted, glancing at my younger brother at his side.
Justin shook his head, "Robin's definitely not the type of person to bad talk anybody. He never said anything bad about you. Actually. He...he always thought it was his fault for the stuff you said to him."
"You did?" I asked, confused," Why?"
"Because you always made it seem like it was. I never hated you, Rave. Not once. You're my brother and I couldn't hate you," He said softly.
"Robin...is this going to turn into the same conversation we had last night? I'm really sorry about everything I said. If it were as easy as to just - take it back. Then I would. I don't know how to make it up to you and this...what we have here," I pointed to the two men beside us, not bringing myself to say boyfriends, “Is good enough for me."
"Oh, I know Rave. I know you didn't mean it. Listen, why don't we just go and do what we planned on, instead of talking about this any longer, okay?" He said.
I agreed, finally and followed Justin and Robin down the street towards some big store I had been inside a time or two. Only this time I was with someone that I truly cared about.
