Chapter Thirty Two

CHAPTER 32:

Ra takes a pause from speaking, and Luke was wondering why. “Why’d you stop?”

“Sorry,” Ra smirks, “Just remembering the past. Alice moves in with me, it’s true, but though she promised that Terri girl they’d see each other again, well, it turns out that that was their last goodbye. Alice didn’t know the powers I had, and she didn’t know the full details of being a puppet. She thought her life with me would be happy, like some magical fairytale where we’d both live happily ever after, but I wanted to prove to her that her role as a puppet was much different.” Ra takes a pause.

Luke glares up at Ra, not liking where this was going. “Well…?”

“So,” Ra snickers, leaning harder against the cold wall, “I decided to show her who’s boss.”

--

Alice’s hair was longer now, and though it was held in a pony, it was a mess. She wore no make-up on her face, which looked paler then before. She wore ruffled clothes; a pinkish wrinkly shirt with a pair of loose blue jeans, and socks were on her feet, though the left sock was nearly coming off.

It appeared that her left eye was bruised, giving her a black eye. She was a mess, but stood there standing tall as she scrubbed the dirty dishes with all the power she had left in her broken-hearted body.

She never noticed the dark shadow coming up to loom over her. She let out a startled grasp as Ra grabbed her from behind. His strong arms wrapped around her waist. She turned to look up at him, and gave off a low sigh.

“Ra,” Alice shakes her head, “You scared me.”

“Sorry,” Ra snickers, looking down at the dirty soap water, “I didn’t mean to. Wow, those dishes are looking shiny. You’re a natural…”

“Thanks,” Alice goes back to washing, but Ra grabs hold of her hand, “W—what’s wrong?”

“Take a break,” Ra brushes Alice’s wet hand against is cheek, “Come and entertain me…”

Alice could feel her P shaped tattoo glowing from underneath her wrinkled pink shirt. She hated it when Ra would do this to her. She never had a choice in any matter.

“But,” Alice mumbles, “I—I need to finish these—“

“You can finish later,” Ra’s grasp around Alice’s waist tightens, “Just come, do as your told, and then I’ll leave you alone for a while.”

Though she knew what would happen if she argued, Alice did so anyway. “But Ra…” Alice was never able to complete her sentence. She nearly choked when Ra’s grasp tightened harder, and he turned her to face him.

Alice let out a frightened groan once Ra’s lips were against her own. This was not how she wanted things to be. This was not called love, nor romance. This was torture. Alice let out an unsatisfied cry at the taste of blood in her mouth. Ra had bit down on her lip; again. Now there was a new bruise growing on her once soft lips.

“Ahh,” Alice screamed as Ra pushed her into the wall, making her wince in pain by the wall’s sudden impact with her already bruised arm. She tried to squirm free from his grasp, but he was too strong; too powerful. She was just a mortal. Before she knew it, Alice was being carried into the bedroom she shared with this demonic man.

Thrown onto the bed, Alice tried to crawl away, but Ra was too fast for her to even think. She cried out for Ra to stop as he pulled on her clothes, but he would not. Finding herself naked, Alice tried shielding; covering her innocent form. She was useless.

“Please,” she cried, her tattoo glowing brighter then before, “I don’t want this! Stop it, Ra! Please stop!”

--

“…But I didn’t stop,” Ra speaks, “I kept going, showing her what it means to be one’s puppet. I was in command, and she was just—nothing.”

Luke’s body was shaking from Ra’s descriptive past. His deep eyes were lowered, but they showed this shamefaced look. Ra gave Luke a wicked grin.

“What are you thinking of?”

Luke’s head lifts at Ra’s question. Ra could see this certain guilt deep in Luke’s eyes, but couldn’t make out why Luke felt guilt. Ra straightened his back as Luke spoke with a soft, baffled voice. “You,” Luke whispers, “You raped her…”

“Well,” Ra suddenly smiles almost, once again leaning against the wall; “I wouldn’t call it that. It was her duty as my puppet…”

“You raped her,” Luke repeated, his eyes still starring bewildered. He soon turned his head up at Ra, giving him a disappointed, yet almost apologetic stare.

“You seem a tad jumpy, Luke,” Ra snickers, “I hope my past isn’t horrifying your mind.”

It wasn’t Ra’s story that had frightened Luke. It was the roles in the story. Ra was the immortal, Alice was his mortal puppet, and the way Ra described how he had moved onto her made Luke remember his first encounter with Kiyoshi. He had done the same thing, and it now haunted his mind.

“You look a little green,” Ra snickers, “Have I said too much?”

Grabbing hold of his head, Luke tries to pass the disturbing images out of his
head. He glares up at Ra for reminding him of Kiyoshi’s desperate cries; those pleading cries. With a hiss, Luke lowers his hands down, and keeps his eyes sharp on Ra, “Just finish the damn story…”

With his right hand, Ra pushes his silvery hair back behind him, and gives Luke yet another evil smile. “Very well…”

--

Opening her left eye, Alice took a glance over at the sleeping form of Ra. His chest lightly lifted up and then back down, so she knew he was fast asleep. As quietly as a mouse, Alice moved the sheets off her body, and moved over the edge of the bed before lifting herself up. She moved over to a dresser where she fished out a long white sweater and a pair of gray sweats. She moved over to the closet, where she pulled out an already packed suitcase. Before exiting the room, she took one final gaze at Ra, and let the tears flow.

Outside Alice ran to an awaiting cab. She hopped in and gave the man a smile.

“You’re going to the airport,” spoke the tanned man, “Right Miss?”

“Yes,” Alice nodded, “Please hurry. I—I don’t want to miss my flight.”

“Right Miss,” the cab driver nodded, “Please buckle up.”

--

“She had left me,” Ra growled, his eyes hooked on the floor beneath Luke’s feet, “She had easily tricked me, and left. I was such a damn fool for never figuring it out. It was as if she planned it from the fucking start. How had I not known?”

Luke kept his gaze on Ra. Ra was shaking with anger. He was filled with rage.

“Damn her,” Ra sneers, “I awoke that morning to find my puppet had abandoned me. I knew then that she would pay! So, I searched for her all over the city. I had not found her, so I went to a friend of hers…”

--

“Goodbye Mr. Morrison,” Terri waved, “I’ll be in early tomorrow, I promise.” Terri exited the restaurant with a smile. Though she had not seen Alice in almost a year, she was fully proud of her self. She was accomplishing working on her dream of becoming a fashion designer. Even though she still worked at the burger place, she also sent in some designs to a big studio, and is awaiting a reply. She knew she had done a fare job.

A sudden sound of footsteps behind her made Terri turn her head quickly. She saw no one, and began to feel scared as a brisk of air past by her. She shivered, and wrapped her arms around her body. No visible forms in sight, so Terri continued walking. She never got far…

A hand made its way over her mouth, and Terri shrieked into it as she was grabbed and dragged off of the un-busy streets.

Pushed into a wall, Terri starred into the eyes of one man she never cared for; Ra. He was glaring evilly at her; his eyes were on fire. Terri began to cry. The tears made her cheeks glow red.

“Where is she,” Ra hissed, “I know you know where she is!”

Terri couldn’t speak, for her mouth was still covered. She could only whine, and shake her head. She didn’t know! Why was Ra bugging her? What was going on?

“You do know,” Ra shakes the scared Terri, “Don’t you? Where is she? Tell me!”

Terri didn’t know what to do. She didn’t know how to escape. She could only think of one thing to do. Taking up her courage, Terri nodded her head at Ra, showing she knew what he was talking about.

Ra gives Terri a smirk, and removes his hand. “That’s a good girl…”

“Help me!” Terri begins to scream, which angers Ra even more, “Somebody help! Ah! Help ME!!! Ah…uh…” Terri’s screams were cut off. Her eyes widen as her neck is split open by some unimaginable force. Her limp body falls to the ground with a loud thump.

Ra shook his head disappointedly at the fallen Terri. “Just fucking great,” Ra growls, “Now I have to locate her on my own. Damn bitch was of no use to me…” At the hearing of oncoming footsteps, Ra swiftly took to the skies and disappeared into the night.

--

“Years had passed,” Ra whispered, “It took me fucking years to finally locate her. I’ve searched everywhere. From Britain, to Paris, and even down in Australia, but I never found her. I’ve sliced many throats just to locate her. Soon, however, when I finally made my way to Asia, I came across a grown country known as Japan. I walked the busy streets of Tokyo when I noticed a beautiful woman with long brown hair, stunning blue eyes, and clean peach skin. It was my Alice…” Ra paused. He raised his eyes, and stared straight into Luke’s own pair, “But she was not alone.”

Luke was afraid to ask, but he did so anyway. “Who was with her?”

“A man,” Ra leaned back further, “Some Asian man held her hand. He wore a uniform, and was a tad chubby. How could she choose him over me? I felt this fire burning in me, but it angered me even more when I discovered the tiny ring on her finger. She had married this man. I felt ashamed of her.” Ra allowed Luke to take in his words before continuing, “How shocked was I to find out that she had given birth to a son…”

“Kiyoshi…” Luke whispered, his eyes growing wider; his body shivered, though the room was not cold.

Ra nods his head at Luke. “How right you are…”

--

“Mommy,” Alice and Ra turned to the little boy, who had come out from hiding, “Mommy…” the little boy’s eyes were filled with a sudden horror, though with his father dead on the floor and with his mother in the arms of this stranger, the boy did not seem to understand what was going on.

“Kiyoshi,” Alice shivered, “Go, go back into the other room, sweetheart.”

“So,” Ra gave off a wicked grin, rubbing Alice’s breast in the process, “You have a son. Kiyoshi, is it? He looks just like his Asian father.”

“Mommy,” Kiyoshi tried stepping closer, but his feet weren’t moving right, “what’s going on, mommy?”

“Nothing Kiyoshi,” Alice lied, hoping her son would listen to her words, “Please go back into the other room.”

“No,” Ra spoke suddenly, his voice darker then before, “Let him stay. He should witness who his real father should’ve been.” Kiyoshi stared in terror as this man began to undress his mother further. Alice was screaming the whole time, but tried hard to not let this man get his way with her. Grabbing one of the roses beside the picture her son drew for her, Alice swiftly threw it across Ra’s face. He gave out a sharp gasp, releasing Alice from his grasp. Alice backed up against the table and Kiyoshi stayed frozen in place. The two kept their eyes on Ra. His head was turned from them, but soon he slowly turned to glare at the two of them. His right cheek was scratched by one of the roses thorns. Blood dripped from the scar, but not for long. Both Alice and Kiyoshi watched; terrified as the wound on Ra’s cheeks slowly began to fade away. It was healing itself, “You,” Ra hissed, wiping the blood from his healed cheek, “Are going to regret ever being born.” Suddenly, Alice felt her entire body freeze over. She could feel her heart suddenly begin to pump really hard, as if it were desperately trying to keep her alive, “You are not my puppet.” Alice let out a cat-screeching shriek.

“No,” Alice screamed, “Kiyoshi…” She was never able to complete her sentence. Right there, before his eyes, Kiyoshi watched as his own mother literally exploded into nothing but drops of flesh and blood.

--

“I chased him, then,” Ra grins at the sight of Luke’s shocked face, “I wished to kill the boy. I was going to kill him, but as I drew nearer, I noticed he had the mark. It was on the opposite side of where his mother’s was. I couldn’t believe my eyes.” Ra moved off the wall, and crossed his arms. “If I were to know he’d end up with you, I would’ve killed him right then, right there. Now look at the predicament we’re in. It’s like…” Ra looks towards the ceiling; his hand in a position as if he held a glass, “It’s as if you and Kiyoshi were destined to be together, but I must ask you, Luke, wouldn’t it be quite silly if Kiyoshi were my son?”

“Don’t even say that,” Luke yells, standing to his feet, “Don’t even…”

“You still should wonder,” Ra laughs, “It’d be wild!”

Luke is able to get to his feet, though his knees feel week and he nearly falls over. He lifts his lowered head, and gives Ra his best glare. Ra could see something different in Luke’s eyes. Ra almost felt pushed against the wall. His own eyes nearly widened by Luke’s sudden mood change. Luke was heavily breathing, and his eyes—those eyes were indescribable. “I think,” Luke growls, “That this conversation is over.”

Ra was astounded by this power Luke nearly released, but once Luke’s shoulders calmed themselves, Ra took a hint. He moved off the wall and made his way for the door. “Very well…” Opening the door, Ra took one glance behind him, and smirked, “Goodbye, for now.” Ra vanished.

Luke fell to the floor. He felt exhausted, and he was even confused his self. This strange feeling sparked throughout his body, but he had no idea where it came from. He had trouble controlling it. “What was that?”

--

With a snickering laugh, Ra flew back to his hideout spot. “What a remarkable discovery! Now not alone should Kiyoshi be frightened of me, he should be frightened of Luke. What a power!” Ra lowered his eyes over the whore house he ran, “Things just grew a tad more interesting. I can’t wait to visit with them again.”
