Thirty-one

Chapter 31

When River slowly drifted out of a nameless dream, the mixed scents of coffee and burning wood rose to his nostrils. He opened his eyes and found the room immersed in the flickering, orange light of a warming fire in the oven. Andreji sat in River’s beanbag and read a book.

“What time is it?” he asked.

“About seven a.m.”

River looked to his right, searching for the source of the coffee scent. A tray stood on the floor, laden with everything River could think of to make up a perfect breakfast. He smirked. “Am I going to have that every day, now?”

Andreji looked up and shrugged indifferently.

River smiled knowingly and lifted the tray up on the bed. He took a sip of the strong coffee and watched his lover. Yes, his lover. Finally. Although there was still a small doubt in him left. Putting his cup down, he crawled over the bed. He reached for the book in Andreji’s hands and slowly took it from him. He licked his lower lip and occupied his Master’s lap. The previous night, River had found the man uninterested in certain intimate activities. Now, the other man’s hands ran over his naked body. River captured his mouth.

After an intense kiss, he came up for air. He purred and brushed with his index finger over Andreji’s crotch. As he leaned forward, his tongue darted out and caressed Andrejis’ ear. “What we did down at the beach in my first night here, was that a once in your lifetime concession, or…?” River pulled himself together and spit it out. “Or would you care to do that again?” He paused. “I liked it.” His left hand caressed Andreji’s cheek. He sensed how it rose in amusement. Yet there was no answer.

River leaned back to look Andreji into his eyes. The amusement did not spread to them.

“Try your luck,” his lover finally said.

River brushed with his lips once more softly over Andreji’s, then he rose and – taking another sip of coffee – cleared the bed. He turned around and reached out for Andreji.

The elder man dropped his gaze to the floor and pursed his lips as if he needed to steel himself. Then he accepted his young lover’s hand. He sat down on the bed, and they continued kissing.

River was as excited as if it were their first time. He felt that he was walking a thin line, that despite the fact that they had shared this experience before, Andreji was not completely at ease with the situation. A part of him feared to do something wrong.

His left hand slipped under Andreji’s sweater and brushed over the area below his navel. He moaned lightly as he felt the soft trail of hair. Heartened by his longing, River pulled up the sweater and helped Andreji out of it. He pushed the taller man gently onto his back, straddled him, and resumed the kissing. As his hardening member made contact with its equal, relief swept over him. He cupped Andreji’s bottom and ground his loins against his lover.

Something shifted in River. His insecurity vanished. Eagerly, he rid Andreji of his trousers and lay down on top of his lover, seeking as much skin contact as he could get. He took hold of Andreji’s hands, kissed him madly, at the same time moving his lower body against his lover’s, and moaned. He seized the back of Andreji’s head, the soft hair flowing through his fingers, and pulled him closer.

One hand free, Andreji embraced River. They rolled over the bed and finally ended with Andreji on top.

River chuckled into their kiss. He reached for Andreji’s now bare bottom. So hot, so smooth… Andreji presented his throat to him and he took it eagerly, at the same time letting his fingertips circle over Andreji’s butt and back.

His lover shuddered and moaned quietly.

Andreji shuddered under his touch?! River slipped out from under the man to kiss the nape of his neck. “Lie down,” River prompted his lover.

Andreji followed the request.

River retrieved the lube from under the bed, but continued kissing Andreji’s back and massaged his shoulders. For a moment, he gave in to his desire and sank down on Andreji to feel the other man’s firm bottom against his hardness. Then he slipped to the side and massaged the bottom cheeks he so admired.

He interwove the fingers of his left hand with Andreji’s as he finally started moving inside of him.

Andreji returned his grasp and circled slowly with his hips.

River moaned.

They lay one next to the other on their backs. Perfectly relaxed. River moved his hand over Andreji’s warm skin, his belly, his thigh. He turned over and nibbled on Andreji’s neck and ear. After a while, he was gently pushed away.

Andreji, eyes closed, face averted from his lover, pulled the blanket over his lower body.

River shrugged and went over to the small basin in the far corner of the room to wash his hands. Sitting back in bed, he commenced breakfasting. “By the way, when will we go on with the training?” he asked between two bites. “I mean, the few alibi tasks you have given me are hardly qualified to wear that name, are they?”

“When the time is right,” Andreji murmured.

River shook his head ironically. “And when will that be?”

“When you are turned.”

Well, that was a precise answer for once. River swallowed the last bite and took a sip of his coffee. He grimaced. The drink had grown cold. He put the tray away and snuggled up to Andreji. “How much is there I still don’t know about you?” he wondered aloud.

“Quite some.”

“Are there things even Demyan doesn’t know?” he asked on.

“Yes.”

River played with a white strand of hair. “Will I get to know them?”

“The important ones, yes.”

River was intrigued. “There are important facts about you that he is not familiar with?

“He will get to know them when you do,” Andreji said matter-of-factly.

“When will that be?”

“Soon.”

River placed his kin on the back of his hand that rested on Andreji’s chest and looked up at his lover. “You tickle my curiosity. What are we talking about?” He saw his Master smirk.

The elder man gave no reply for a moment, then hinted, “Something that has to do with your tattoo.”

Now River was completely baffled. “My tattoo?”

Andreji said nothing for a moment. “Different topic. What do you want to do for Christmas?” He asked offhandedly then.

“Pardon? Why do you ask? Since when do you care about Christian holidays? Did you hide Easter eggs in my hotel room in Vienna and I didn’t notice?” River quickly overcame his surprise.

Andreji smirked. “I have to go to Scandinavia at the end of the year and intend to take you with me. I thought you might want to spend some time with your family beforehand; that is my reason for asking.”

“You ‘intend’ to take me with you. So I’m not even being asked, am I?” River continued his playful tone.

“No,” Andreji aanswered dryly.

“And what if I don’t like elks and smørebrød?”

Another smirk that made the tiny lines around Andreji’s mouth appear. “I doubt you have tasted either of it.”

“I didn’t speak of elk meat!”

“And I still wait for an answer.”

Answer? –Right. Christmas. He shrugged. “Yeah, I guess it’d be good seeing them once more.”

Right in that moment, his mobile rang. It took River a moment to find it in the heap of clothes on the floor. “Yes?”

“Hey, birthday boy!” It was Eriko.

River frowned. “Is it the twenty-eighth already?” he asked Andreji, shielding the speaker.

The man smirked knowingly.
