Chapter Thirty One

CHAPTER 31:

While moving cautiously; Luke never once took his focused eyes off of Ra. He kept his distance from the evil man, slowly walking behind them as the two headed for the one room Ra once knew quite well: Luke’s bedroom.

“Ah,” Ra sighs as the two enter the room, “It’s been a while since I’ve seen this room. Boy have I missed it. Of course, what would you expect, it used to be mine.”

“So we’re alone now,” Luke growls; his arms are crossed, “So talk…”

Ra turns to face Luke. His long, silvery hair swiftly lifts at his speed and smoothly settles over his left shoulder. “There’s no need to rush, Luke. It has been many long years since I’ve last seen you.”

Luke lets a low grunt past his lips. Leaning against the cold wall, Luke trailed his eyes over Ra’s face. “Well unlike you, I’m not too pleased about your sudden visit.”

Ra’s role-playing kindness suddenly changes with this evil smirk. His beady black eyes seemed perfectly calm, and he almost stood like some sort of famous piece of artwork. Many might say he almost resembled a vampire.

Ra then began to speak. However, his voice was different. No longer was it filled with this chirpy, irritating pitch, but it had turned lower, deadlier sounding. “I was surprised, Luke, to discover who your destined puppet was. If I were to know that that boy would be destined to become yours, then, well, I would’ve murdered him those many years ago…”

Luke raises an eyebrow. He knew a part of the story of Kiyoshi’s past with Ra, but he wanted to hear more. “What are you saying?”

“You mean you don’t know?” Ra lets a tiny chuckle escape his lips, but not before putting his pointer finger out in front of Luke and shaking it, “Shame on you. He is your puppet, but the story is intriguing so it’ll be fun to tell…” Ra looks towards the small window, noticing that resting on the other side was a tiny blue bird. “Perhaps I’ll begin further back then that one night, just to please your mind even more…”

“Just talk,” Luke almost yells, “And be quick about it.”

“Picky,” Ra snickers, “But I’m glad you’re listening. Alright, so where to begin?” Ra leans his own body against the wall, lets his eyes rest shut, and takes in a deep breath,
“Ah yes, the beautiful Alice—such a wonderful woman. Well, that’s what she began as, before she left me for that man…”

--

A beautiful young woman leans against the counter. Using her thumb and index finger, she playfully pulls on her chewing gum while smiling ridiculously at a tall man sitting in one of the booths of the restaurant. Her short brown hair was curly, and she had these great blue eyes. She wore a waitress uniform in a pink color with a white apron over it. It was very exposing for a waitress outfit, and nearly showed off her bosom, but she didn’t seem to mind. One unusual thing about her was the P shaped mark that rested on her left breast. It looked almost like a tattoo.

Another girl dressed identical to her came over, only this girl had light brown hair with blonde streaks, and she was a tad chubby. “Alice,” the girl speaks, “If you like that guy then just go over and talk with him.”

“I can’t do that,” Alice giggles once her gum is back in her mouth, “He looks old, even though he’s really hot!”

“Here,” Alice’s friend places a tray in Alice’s arms, “Take him his burger and drink. That way you can at least say, “Here’s your order,” to him, since you’re too chicken to say, “Hi,” instead.”

“Terri,” Alice blushes, “He’s on your side of the restaurant!”

“Just do it,” Terri sighs, “Like Mr. Morrison cares, which he doesn’t!”

With the tray in her hands, Alice shyly makes her way over to the man, who just happened to be Ra. He looked up from his book, and gave her his perfect smirk. His ‘now’ long hairs were a little shorter, but still long enough to keep in a pony.

“Uh—um…” Alice trembled, “Here’s y—your order, sir.”

“Thank you,” Ra smiles, “Alice. That’s a beautiful name.”

“T—thank you,” Alice smiles, “W—what’s your name?”

Realizing what she had asked, Alice embarrassedly covers her mouth with her
hands. She was received with a fit of laughter by Ra. This made Alice blush even redder then she already was. She felt a tad surprised when the spot where her P mark was began to burn. She grabbed hold of it, hoping not to wince in front of this man.

“It’s Ra,” Ra smirks.

Alice was thankful by Ra’s kindness. She gave him a bright smile, but continued to rub where she hurt.

“It’s nice to meet you.” Alice turned to Terri, who was giving her a thumbs up for beginning conversation.

Ra smiled at the young college student. His eyes never once left her P shaped tattoo, which he noticed was lightly glowing underneath her hand, “It’s nice to meet you too, Alice.”

--

“She seemed so perfect,” Ra continues, “And she was very beautiful.”

Luke moved to sit on his bed, but his ears stayed alert to hear Ra’s words. With his right leg resting over his left, Luke kept his arms crossed and kept his gaze on Ra. “She seemed to like you back,” Luke speaks coldly, “But you never returned her love, did you?”

Ra’s smirk widens. He lets out a sigh, and closes his eyes once again. “Well now,” Ra continues, “I never said that I didn’t once love her, now did I?”

--

“Oh my God,” Alice chirps, “Ra, it’s beautiful!”

Alice’s eyes widened once she unwrapped the birthday gift given to her by Ra. Nearly one year has passed since they first met, and Alice officially felt in love with Ra.

“It’s not nearly as beautiful as you,” Ra cooed into Alice’s ear, which made her sigh happily, “Let me help you put it on.”

Nodding her head, Alice turned around as Ra placed the silver necklace around her neck. Once it was clipped in place, Alice touched it with her fingertips.

“I love it,” Alice turns to face Ra, but then felt this pain on her left breast, “Ooh…”

“Oh dear,” Ra takes Alice over to a chair for rest, “Is it hurting again?”

“Yeah,” Alice softly strokes her covered breast by the white shirt she wore, “It’s strange, but it always seems to hurt when I’m near you—wait a second, how did you even know I’ve been feeling pain?”

Ra kneels before Alice, and this began to frighten her. She was unsure of what to think when Ra grabbed hold of her hand. “Well,” Ra smirks, “There has been something I’ve been meaning to tell you.”

“What is it?” Alice didn’t know why, but the pain she felt began to feel more relaxed and pleasurable.

“Alice,” Ra smiles, “That mark you have is something special…”

Alice moves her hand back over left breast, “My birthmark? Why is it special?”

“Because it isn’t a birthmark,” Ra said, “It’s something much, much more amazing!”

“Ra,” Alice shakes, “You’re beginning to freak me out.”

“Allow me to explain,” Ra sits his self on the rest arm of the chair, “Alice, you
were born with a destiny, a job that not even you are aware of.”

“I was,” Alice looks up at Ra with confused eyes, “What are you talking about?”

“You are mortal Alice,” Ra goes on, “But in this world, there are also immortals, and each one is destined to be given a puppet of their own.” Ra could see this confused, feared look in Alice’s blue eyes, “Alice, you are my puppet. That mark is proof of it. How lucky are you?”

“Okay,” Alice gets up from the chair, and begins to pace the room in a panicky manner, “Now I am really freaked out. What on Earth are you even saying?”

With a snicker, Ra also gets off the chair and makes his way over to a desk with many miscellaneous objects resting upon it. “Allow me to demonstrate,” Ra says while grabbing a pair of sharpened scissors.

Alice’s eyes widen, “Ra, what are you doing?” Alice begins to panic harder once Ra moves his arm out in front of him, “Ra? Ra stop it, you’re scaring me!” Ra ignores Alice’s pleas, and raises the scissors high over is head before swiftly moving them down onto his arm, “Ra, no!” Alice covers her eyes as the sight of dripping blood from the wound Ra gave to his self. She began to cry, but was shocked when Ra seemed so calm.

“It’s nothing to worry about,” Ra removes the scissors from his arm, “Just look, Alice.”

Though she didn’t wish to look, Alice did so. She turned to stare at the wound, getting dizzy from the sight of blood, but her dizziness soon vanished at the sight she soon saw. The wound was beginning to sew itself up. It was disappearing; healing! Alice couldn’t believe her eyes. Was that even possible?

Once the wound had disappeared, leaving behind clean skin, (even the blood went back into the wound, as if it had a mind of its own,) Alice cautiously moved over to Ra. She touched his arm, and she was struck with bewilderment, though she was also in awe.

“Oh my God,” Alice breathed out. She brushed her fingers over the area where a wound once was, “How—how is this possible?”

--

“It took a while longer to convince her,” Ra laughed, “But boy by the time she finally figured it out she would never leave my side. She finally understood her destiny.” Ra moved his eyes to stare at Luke, who was glaring at him. Ra only smirked back, loving how Luke was full into the story of a lifetime, “However, our so-called relationship wasn’t all sunny and splendid. It had its ups, and then there were the downs.”

--

“You’re leaving,” Terri shouted, tears forming at her eyes, “You can’t leave, Alice!”

“Please Terri,” Alice cried, too, “Stop fretting. I’m only moving in with Ra, but we’ll still see one another.”

“I can’t believe this,” Terri sighed, “We were going to move in together. Remember the plan of getting an apartment with Moesha? She’s going to be disappointed, too.”

“You can tell her for me, can’t you,” Alice asks, “Please, I have no choice.”

“Of course you have a choice,” Terri yells, “Don’t do it!”

Alice was surprised by the sudden hug Terri gave to her. The heavy wind made their hair blow in their faces, but they didn’t let that bother them.

“You’re moving too fast,” Terri cries, “Slow down!”

Alice pushes Terri away, and shakes her head. “I can’t,” Alice looks over her shoulder at Ra, who was getting out of a parked black convertible, “I—I have to go now. Ra’s here and…” Alice looked down to see Terri pushing up on her sleeve. There was a large bruise on Alice’s arm.

“Alice,” Terri’s eyes widen, “Does Ra hit you?”

“No,” Alice wraps her arms over her bosom, and glares at the bruise, “I just—hit the door at our new apartment. I’m not fully used to it yet. Don’t worry, everything will be okay.”

Ra comes up behind the two girls, making them both jump when he speaks, “Alice, are you ready?”

“Yes,” Alice gives Terri one last hug, “I’ll visit, I promise.”

--

Ra takes a pause from speaking, and Luke was wondering why. “Why’d you stop?”

“Sorry,” Ra smirks, “Just remembering the past. Alice moves in with me, it’s true, but though she promised that Terri girl they’d see each other again, well, it turns out that that was their last goodbye. Alice didn’t know the powers I had, and she didn’t know the full details of being a puppet. She thought her life with me would be happy, like some magical fairytale where we’d both live happily ever after, but I wanted to prove to her that her role as a puppet was much different.” Ra takes a pause.

Luke glares up at Ra, not liking where this was going. “Well…?”

“So,” Ra snickers, leaning harder against the cold wall, “I decided to show her who’s boss.”
