Halloween 2025
You Were Warned
You Were Warned
by George Glass
Who said you should tell your friends that dark tale
Of the girl who went missing this time last year?
Why did you think that the man with the nails
Wouldn’t come back when he sensed your friends’ fear?
What made you think it would be well-advised
To enter that bedroom with so many dolls
Staring at you with their lifeless white eyes
And splashes of red (paint?) across all the walls
Why did you follow that strange moaning sound?
Why did you build on that burial ground?
What made you think you should reach down that drain
Or open a book titled Horrors Arcane?
How did you conclude that it would be wise
To look for the source of that bestial roar?
Did you not see the warnings? Have you no eyes?
I suppose if you did, you don’t anymore.
If you had the sense that God gave a goose
You’d have passed that abandoned cabin by
But no, you had to go be all obtuse
Till those claws pulled you in and those fangs sucked you dry.
Why did you go in the attic that night?
Or not see a nurse for that “animal” bite?
You’ve known better than this since you were a teen
From every damn movie that you’ve ever seen.
