Through the village gate
Okay here's chapter 3 hope you like. I am trying to update on this often and thanks to everyone who reads it :) Oh thank you butterflyinc for reviewing this story but 1 review is not enough to satisfy my comment lust lmao!! I kid, I kid! I joke, I joke! :) Please rate and review if you wish. Much love! Oh and Chishio means blood for those of you who don't know but more like spilt blood. There's more than one way to say blood in Japanese. That's why Kali thought it was an odd name for a village.
Kali looked Azah up in down as if inspecting her. She was 5'6 and slender yet very voluptuous. She had a pale face with a tannish undertone surrounded by long strawberry blond hair that curled almost like a baby doll's. Her eyes were an orangish color that went perfect with her hair. Kali thought it was strange, she had never seen an asian with natural blond hair and no one in the world with eyes this color. But who was she to say that asians couldn't have blond hair she didn't know everything. Kali thought she looked like the kind of girl you would see in a movie not in a village in the middle of nowhere. Her clothes were up to date and her nails were finely manicured. She reminded her of the little girl from "Interview with a vampire" only in grown form and with japanese facial features. Which should have set off alarms but didn't. This girl seemed somewhat familiar to her. After walking through the gate they headed up a hill. There on the other side was the village of Chishio. From the top of the hill one could see most of the village. It looked like an up to date small town in America would, like a suburb. The houses had satellite dishes on the roofs, finely manicured lawns, decks, ect. The streets were made of not tar but some other stone that she didn't know. The village had a small shopping district. It reminded Kali of the strip mall her and Mi would go to after school to get treats. They walked over to a flight of stairs that would lead them down to the street. As they started their way down the stairs it hit Kali again that feeling followed by the voice. "Run the other way. Leave! Turn and go back now. It's almost too late." Kali let go of Mi's hand and stopped in the middle of the stairs. She just stood there unable to move her body. Mi turned to her,"What is it Kali?............ Kali? .............KALI?!" Mi waved her hand in front of her eyes and Kali popped out of the zone.
"Oh sorry. Did you say something?"
"Are you okay?" Mi took Kali's hand and placed it back in hers.
"Um......................" She said nothing more.
"I think it must be exhaustion form you guys walking so far," Azah put the back of her hand up to Kali's forehead,"Yeah she's burning up. Let's hurry and get to the............Well his family runs this place." Azah took Kali's empty hand this time. They made their way down the rest of the steps and onto the entrance street. Azah led them down the street past staring villagers.
"You all most not get visitors often huh?" Mi said looking around at the people gawking at them.
"No, hardly ever. I mean about 2 or 3 times a year we get lost travelers who accidently find our village. Other than that no one. This isn't exactly a tourist hot spot. We like it that way though." The three girls made their way down 3 more blocks and then turned left. At the end of this street was one of the biggest house Kali and Mi had ever seen. It took up 3 football fields worth of land and was gated all around. Azah pulled them in that direction. All of Kali's senses were heightened as she looked at this house. "DON"T GO IN THERE!" Kali stopped again and let go of Mi's hand. As she did a small child no older than 5 ran over to them.
"Hey Azee what cha doin?" The little girl asked cocking her head to the side just like Kali would do.
"Oh Hi Molli-chan. Just taking these girls to see Dai-kun."
The little girl got closer and touched Mi's hand. *giggle cutely*"You two sure are pretty," Molli then grabbed Kali's hand and sniffed it,"You sure do smell nice. I could smell you two before you even got on my streets." Kali looked at the little girl and gave her a small smile. At this the little girl let go of her hand and gave her a hug. "We gots to be fwiends okay? What's your name?"
Azah pushed the little girl back softly. "Get out of here Molli-chan. We have to get going. And it's rude to go around sniffing people."
"No it's okay really. My name is Kali and this is my sister Mi. Nice to meet you Molli-chan and yes we can be friends." Above all Kali loved children. Molli hopped up and down singing, I get to be her fwiend, over and over. They waved goodbye to Molli and got back to the task at hand. Looking up at the monstrous gates Kali heard the other voice this time,"Almsot there. Keep going. Whatever you do don't stop." They had to stop at the gates so they could be opened. A very lager, buff japanese man walked over to the gate."What do you want Azah?"
"Stop playing around Ken and open the gates. I don't know why you locked them in the first place."
"Why I locked them to keep you out." He smiled at her.
"Well let me in. I have important business and I do live here."
"Okay, okay. One condition you have to go on a date with me." Ken's face looked very cocky as he said this.
"HaHaHa........... No.Never. Don't make me tell my boyfriend you were hitting on me again. Anyways just let me in, Dai wanted to see me." Azah looked over at Mi and Kali.
"Oh I knew I sme................ Saw guest. Welcome." The man opened the gates and let them inside. They walked past him and he nodded his head at the group of ladies. The landscape inside the gate was absolutely beautiful. They couldn't see that back but the front had 2 large fountains that were replicas of a fountain Kali had seen in a book about Rome. Flowers littered the surrounding area many not native to Japan. They walked down the stone walk way and up to the front door. Just as they were going to open it someone else did form the inside. It was an older woman no older than 30. She had short brown hair and olive green eyes. She stood at 5'4 and was very pleasing to the eyes.
"Ah Azah there you are. I was looking everywhere for you." The woman gave Azah a puzzled look.
"Oh I was hiking and ran into these two lost girls. Mi, Kali, this is Dr. Yamada. Dr. Yamada this is Mi and Kali. I think Kali may be suffering form exhaustion." Azah said pointing at the unstable girl.
"Really let me see."
"No, no. Really I'm okay. I am just a little sleepy that's all." Kali protested.
"Well when you get done I'd like to see both of you just to make sure. How far did you come?"
"40 miles down from that direction." Kali said pointing.
"Really that's quite far. How long were you exposed to the elements? Have you eaten?" Dr. Yamada pulled out a small flashlight as if she was going to examine them right there.
"Doctor we really have to be going. I will bring them by the clinic after we speak with Daisuke." Azah said pulling the girls in the door the rest of the way.
"Okay, make sure you do."
The three girls sat down and took off their shoes. Azah had them set their packs down and escorted them up the hall and to the left. They entered a large living room with a fully stocked bar, 2 blood red leather couches with gold trim, 3 armchairs that matched the couches, a fire place, 5 tables, and a very very expensive looking rug. The two couches were facing each other in front of the fireplace. The 3 chairs where at the end of the two couches making a half circle pattern so they faced the fireplace. There were end tables tables at the end of each couch on the side of the fireplace and one between the spaces where the 3 chairs would meet. In the middle space between the couches was the last table, it was a coffee table. All the tables were made out of glass that had been stained red with a black rose in the center. Under all of this was a blood red rug with gold trim and gold designs weaved throughout. Every so often there was a black rose strategically placed throughout along the gold design. Over the fire place was a painting of a beautiful mountain landscape. Azah sat down and asked them to do so as well. She began to look around.
"Hmmm? He was supposed to be in here. Hey you two stay right here I'll be right back." Azah got up and left Mi and Kali sitting in the room alone.
"Wow these people must loaded." Mi said looking at the painting above the fireplace.
"Yeah. Looks like." Kali said running her fingers over the stained glass coffee table not really listening. Mi was saying something in the background but it just sounded like blah painting, blah mountain, blah blah blah to Kali.
"I wonder why they live in the middle of the forest?....................... Hey! Hey Kali are you listening to me?" She shouted.
Kali looked up,"Huh?........ Yeah sorry. What where you saying? Something about that painting right?"
"Yeah look at it. Isn't it beautiful?" Before she could look up and answer Azah was walking back in the room.
"Funny I can't find him anywhere. I talked to him around 9 this morning and he said he didn't have anything to do today." Just then a very beautiful woman walked into the room. She looked as if she was floating the way she eloquently walked. The woman appeared to be in her early 20s and had straight thin brown hair all they way down to her butt. "Ah...... Aoi where is Daisuke?"
The woman turned and looked at Azah with malice. "You mean Aoi-sama?"
"No I meant Aoi." Azah said. You could tell by the tone of her voice she didn't like this Aoi character."Have you seen him or not? I have two visitors."
Aoi's eye went to Mi and then flashed to Kali. Her snake like green eyes looked at the two girls disgustedly yet with intrigue. "How strange I didn't even.................. Never mind. Yes I know where he is. He went to the south end of the village to see off Cain and Elizabeth about 15 minutes ago. He said he'd be back soon and if anything was to arise just to wait here for him or Halla nun tabath si ja donka.(Take them to his part of the house and get them a room for the night) He'll handle the rest later." She spoke a strange tongue that neither girl had ever heard before and walked away.
"What did she just say? What language was that?" Mi turned to Azah for an answer.
"Oh that, that was slith it's a language you'll hear alot around here and she said that he wants me to take care of it. Follow me. Wait let's get your bags first." They walked back to the door and grabbed their bags. Then they walked down a long marble hallway headed toward a flight of steps going up. To say this house was huge was an understatement. It looked like 100 people could reside here easily. Kali thought if she didn't pay attention she could get lost in here and even then she still might.
"So do you girl's have a change of clothes?"
"We just have what we have on now and a pair of jeans. We thought it would be best not to carry too much." Mi said glancing at the portraits that lined the walls of the hallway.
"Yeah you two seem pretty prepared."
"That's all thanks to Kali here." She said patting the girl on the back. As they got closer to the steps the voice in Kali's head was screaming louder than she had ever heard before. "NO LEAVE THIS PLACE NOW! YOU STILL HAVE TIME! TURN AROUND!" Kali put both her hands on the sides of her head.
"Kali are you okay Dear?" Azah asked.
"Um?.......... Yeah I'll be okay. I get headaches quite often." Kali looked up at her and smiled. Azah just nodded and continued to lead the way. As they got to the bottom of the stairs Kali heard it again this time a loud whisper, "Please, Please go back. you have time....... No keep going you know you need to." She shook it off and put one foot on the bottom step and began to step up. She saw something in a bright flash."TOO LATE! YOUR TIME IS UP!" Kali fell to the ground and all went black. Mi saw her fall, her head cracking the marble floor with a small thud. Mi rushed to her side with Azah right behind her.
"OMFJ! Kali wake up!" Mi lifted kali so she was sitting and shook the unconscious girl very roughly.
"Oh shit she's bleeding." Azah held her breath quickly. She had found away to usually deal with this smell but this girl's blood smelt just as good as she thought it would."Um.... Mi you might not want to shake her that hard. You don't want to give her shaken baby.", Azah said holding Kali steady,"I'll just carry her upstairs and lay her in bed." She knew she had to get her there fast. She looked down, luckily there wasn't any blood on the floor and it hadn't caught the air. She took off her shirt and wrapped it around Kali's head.
"I think she's to heavy for you Azah." Mi looked Azah up and down.
Azah forgot she was playing the role of a normal girl."You're right. I'll go get someone to......................." She was cut off by a male's voice.
"What have you done now Azah? And you really need to stop running around half naked." The two girls turned to see a 5'8 male sticking a strawberry popcycle back into his mouth. His crimson eyes peered through his emo cut dark brown hair and fixated on the girls. All Mi could think was ,Hot Damn I'd like a piece of that.
"Oh! Oni-sama you came just in time." Azah said running over to her older brother.
"You must want something. You never call me Oni-sama." He looked down at Mi and Kali and smiled.
"Shin these girls were lost in the woods and Daisuke said for them to.... I mean me to handle this and well that one passed the fuck out. Be careful she's bleeding." She said pointing at Kali. Shin ran over to the downed girl making sure to hold his breath. He knew if his sister made it a point to tell him he would be in trouble if he didn't.
"Why the fuck didn't you just say that to start with?" Shin bent down and picked Kali up bridal style.
"Is she going to be okay?" Asked Mi who had now began to cry.
"Yes. I'm sure she will be. Azah go get Dr. Yamada and I'll take these two to the red rose room. I mean I'm sure you would like to be in the same room right?" He asked looking down at Mi.
"Yes. I want to be in the same room as my little sister." Mi had stopped crying but she looked like she could start back up at any moment. She looked at her sister teary eyed.
"Quit standing around Azah and go get the doctor." Azah turned and ran out the door,"Now lets get you two up stairs and put her into a bed." Mi bent down to pick up their bags. "No just leave them here I'll come back down and get them later. No one but Azah, Daisuke, and myself are allowed in this part of the house. So no one will touch your things. Follow me." Shin led Mi up the stairs where there were three different hallways branching off. He took them to the left about 7 doors down and stopped. Shin moved Kali around so that he could free one hand and open the door. He stepped in and motioned his head for Mi to follow. The room was very large and had red roses everywhere. Mi guessed that's why it was called the red rose room. It had roses painted on the white walls not small roses but thorny vines creeping all over the walls. They looked real enough to pick. The floors where all a rich mahogany wood as were all the wood objects in the room such as the wardrobe, dresser, nightstand, and bed frames. The two beds were both full size and had black comforters, sheets, and pillow cases. The comforters had a giant red rose in the middle. Shin laid Kali down on the bed and sat next to her. He took the shirt and grabbed the part that was over her face gently pulling over to the side so she could breath better. Once her face was completely uncovered he just stared at her for a few seconds.
"This is a nice room." Mi caught his attention. He had forgot she was there.
"Yes it is.......... Mi.... Right? You two sure are beautiful." Shin smiled at her, got up, and pulled a chair out to sit in as Mi took his place in the bed.
"No, your sister and that Aoi chick are beautiful. We're just cute. And yes my name is Mi.......... Shin." She giggled.
"No trust me you're both beautiful. So is my sister but Aoi is ugly." He said this with a playful tone but Mi could tell that he was 100% serious. They heard voices in the hall and Azah busted through the door the girls bags in hand and with Dr. Yamada right behind. The doctor went to the bedside. Mi got up and got into the other side of the bed. Dr. Yamada rolled Kali onto her side and parted her hair where the blood was. She moved her fingers through her blood soaked hair and rolled her back over onto her back. Next she took out her tiny flash light and checked her eyes. "Hmmmm?" She said as the light hit the girls eyes,"Peculiar." She stood up and wrote something down in her note book.
"So is she okay Doc?" Azah asked before Mi could get a chance to.
"Yes. She doesn't have a concussion and the cut on the back of her head seems to have not been that bad at all. More like a scratch then a cut really. I'm sure once she gets some sleep she'll be fine. She walked over to Mi and looked her over as well. You're fine too. Tough girls." Dr. Yamada walked over to the door,"Azah please bring them down to the clinic as soon as she wakes up. Well I must be going. I have blood to draw down at the clinic. If anything else happens just let me know and I will return." The door closed and Mi Looked down at Kali.
"She'll be okay you heard the Doctor." Shin said getting up to leave. Azah got up to go talk to her brother when her phone began to ring. "Moshi, moshi. Yes. Yes that's right she's still sleeping. Right now? Okay be right there. Sir ju la toni. Jaw ni a? (Yes she was bleeding. How did you know?),"She hung up the phone,"Dai would like to meet and talk with you Mi."
Mi looked over at Kali and the siblings could tell what she was thinking. "I'll stay with her." Shin said sitting back down in the chair. Mi thought about it. Did she really know him well enough to leave her unconscious sister with him.
"Don't worry I won't bite her." He said as if reading her thoughts. Mi smiled, kissed her sister on the forehead and got out of the bed.
"Okay this way." Azah said grabbing Mi and locking arms with her,"Call me if anything happens Shin." Shin nodded and the two girls walked out like they had been best friends for years. They walked back the way they had come and into the living room where they had started earlier. The only difference was that now the room was occupied by five people. Four she hadn't seen before and the Aoi girl from earlier. One man was at the bar mixing a drink and on the couches sat the four others. There were two people per couch. Two males on one and Aoi and a male on the other. Mi watched as Aoi put her hand on the man's shoulder and then ran her fingers through his hair. She guessed this was Daisuke. He looked too young to run this place to her. He couldn't be any older than 20.
"Aoi! For the last time stop touching me." Daisuke didn't even move when he said this but Aoi quickly withdrew her hands."Come over and sit down Azah." He looked over to the two males on the other couch and they got up and moved to the chairs. Azah walked over pulling the now nervous Mi along with her. The two girls sat down and faced Daisuke.
"What is that divine smell? Are you wearing perfume?" On of the men asked Mi.
"Um? No. It's forest musk. I've been in the woods for a day and a half."Mi gave the man a strange look.
"Everyone except Mi and Azah please leave the room." Daisuke ordered turning to look at Aoi.
Everyone got up except her."Can I please stay Dai-Kun?"
"I guess." Daisuke said turning to look at the others. The other people left the room and Daisuke turned back to look at the two girls.
"I thought you said you would be here all day." Azah said accusingly.
"How dare you talk to Daisuke that way." Aoi looked at Azah with rage in her eyes.
"Oh shut up Aoi. Sorry Azah it couldn't be helped. Cain and Elizabeth got a call that there was an urgent matter in their country and had to leave at once. I had to see them off. And I wanted to personally see that the items were secure on the helicopter."
"Oh okay."
Daisuke looked over at Mi who was biting her nails. "Hello I'm Daisuke and you must be Mi. Don't be nervous doll you are safe now."He slightly smirked at her,"How's your sister? Dr. Yamada Told me about the fall."
"She's still sleeping." Mi said with worry in her voice.
"I'm sure she will be fine. Claira said..... I mean Dr.Yamada said she just needed some rest. That the hike was probably too much for her. I heard you walked 40 miles."
"Well ye.................."
"What kind of person passes out? She must be weak." Aoi said rolling her eyes.
"Aoi enough. One more word and I'll send you home." He said his perfect face full of anger and then softening up again."Please go on Mi."
"My sister isn't weak. That's why I'm so worried. She would have made it here last night if it wasn't for me slowing her down. She has never passed out." Mi's eyes filled with tears but she held them in. She didn't want that bitch to see her cry. Azah put her arm around the girl.
"Really? I heard she gets frequent headaches." He questioned.
"Well yes."
"Well then it could've just been an underlined problem that was waiting to boil over. Frequent headaches aren't healthy." He stated.
"No! They're not that kind of headaches. She just.......I mean................... She's perfectly healthy." Mi caught herself. The reason for Kali's headaches were supposed to be kept secret. Daisuke looked at her as if pressing her to go on. Almost like willing her to continue.
Daisuke leaned back with a puzzled look and put his left hand to his chin rubbing it slowly with his index finger."How did you find your way here? It's not on the map and from where I'm guessing you crashed this wouldn't be the way to come."
"Well you see I have this old map." Mi reached in her shorts pocket and pulled out the old brownish map. Daisuke leaned forward and looked at the map with surprise.
"Where did you get that?" He asked.
"Um..... In my grandparent's attic. It was in my Grandpa's old trunk, in a box with pictures from when he lived here on Shikoku." Mi said folding the map back up and sticking it back into her pocket.
"Hmmmmm Really? Well what, if I may ask, is your granddad's name?" Daisuke leaned up resting his elbow on his thigh and then his chin in his hand.
"Haku, Sato Haku."
"Really?" Daisuke leaned back up and everyone's eyes seemed to get a little bit wider but not too much as to be noticeable."And you say this was in a box of stuff from when he lived on the island?"
"Yes. When he died last year he left everything in the attic to me and Kali. Since this is our first time in Japan we decided to go through some of it. When Kali pulled out the trunk she went right for some of the pictures in the box. When she got them out I saw the map along with a pic of and paper about a shrine. That's why we came here. I wanted to see the shrine and Kali reluctantly agreed. My brother wanted us to come back to Tokyo and so did my Grandma. She said this whole island is cursed. Maybe she was right." Mi giggled and shook her head as she did.
"Did your Grandmother grow up here as well?" He questioned.
"No she grew up in Osaka, but met my Grandpa on a trip her family made to Shikoku when she was young. They kept in contact and got married a few years later. I don't know exactly where on this island my Grandpa grew up though."
"Well we had a Haku with the family name of Sato who use to live here and he did have that map. I'm quiet sure that your granddad grew up right here Mi." Daisuke said giving her another small smirk.
"Wow! Wait till I tell my Grandma about this." Mi said smiling back at him.
"Now wait, once you leave we ask that you don't tell anyone else about this village please. We like our privacy and if everyone knew we were here they would want to come and visit. We can't have that happen now can we? That's why we bought all of these woods from the rest stop all the way down to the next village."
"Wow!" Was all Mi could say.
"Well welcome home Mi. I hope you can look around a little bit. See where you come from. Well you and you sister." He looked at the fire. The flames reflecting in his pale blue almost white like eyes.
"Talking about my sister, I think I should be getting back to her. I don't want her to wake up and me not be there. I left her alone with Shin and she'll probably think that was a bit reckless." Mi and Azah stood up.
"Well she sounds smart."He chuckled,"Just joking I trust Shin with my life. I'm sure he's taking very good care of her. Azah a word with you please." He got up and walked to an empty corner of the room. Azah followed him."Make sure you burn whatever has that girl's blood on it. I smelt her all the way at the helicopter pad. I don't want everyone getting worked up into a frenzy." He whispered.
Azah gave him a puzzled look. She was sure the smell hadn't hit the air but decided not to comment on it. "Hell no Dai. I'm not going to burn my favorite shirt. I'm going to try to wash the blood out first. I'm guessing there isn't even that much on it. Dr. Yamada said it was nothing but a scratch. Please don't make me burn it." She gave him her, I'm a sweet baby doll face.
"Okay, but before you take it to the washroom wrap it in a plastic bag. Please make sure that the girl washes her hair as soon as she gets up. Carry her to the shower if you must. I want them to come down and eat dinner with us later if possible so we can all talk. I want to get them out of here hopefully by tomorrow afternoon but absolutely before my parents and brother come home next week."He stopped whispering,"Well bye Azah. It was nice meeting you Mi and I'll see you later." The two girls smiled at him and walked out of the room.
Shorter Chapter :) let me know if you like them short, long, or you just don't care as long as they get put up here lol. Thanks for reading I am truly grateful.
