“You need to stop. You’re going to get seriously hurt if you keep this up. Your old man already bruised your ribs and with the amount of bruises on your body from fights, they might as well call you Barney or something,” Hikaru said.

“Shut up,” Reita wiped off the blood dripping from his mouth.

“You’ve been picking fights all day today. It’s like middle school all over again. You’ve become very unstable.”

“I said shut up. I don’t care anymore,” Reita slid down the wall and sat on the floor. He leaned back and covered his eyes.

“You let him walk out. Damn it, Reita! If you regret it so much then go and talk to the guy.”

“I can’t. I betrayed his trust…”

“Bullshit! You’re running away because you’re afraid he’ll reject you,” Hikaru yelled at his best friend.

“Leave me the hell alone,” Reita said, not liking how well his friend was reading him. Although he shouldn’t have expected any less…they weren’t best friends for nothing.

“Are you really giving up?”

“Yeah… I don’t deserve him.”

Hikaru glared at his friend, ready to give up, but then....

“Fine then… you won’t mind if I take him then,” Hikaru said.

Reita got up off the floor in an instant. He grabbed his best friend by the shirt and glared.

“Stay away from Maika… he’s mine.”

“Good words coming from a coward who doesn’t have the guts to go after the one he claims to be his,” Hikaru said smirking.

“Stay away… You might be my best friend, but I swear…”

Hikaru shoved Reita off and straightened his shirt.

“You swear what? Tell me to back off after you’ve grown your balls back and decided to go after him.”

Reita punched Hikaru. And, of course, Hikaru punched Reita back.

The two were matched in strength, but eventually both boys stopped, tired. They slumped against the wall and slid to the floor.

“I hate you, you know that?” Reita said, one of his eyes throbbing.

“I hate you too,” Hikaru said grinning, then wincing when he pulled on the cut on his lip.

“I have to go after him.”

“Yeah… you do… if you want to be happy.”

Reita grinned.

“Now we both look like Barney.”

Hikaru laughed.

Later that night…

Reita opened his door and limped his way inside. Hikaru was down at the corner store buying some alcohol and also some first aid supplies.

“Finally, you’re back…”

Reita spun and faced his intruder, who was currently sitting on his couch.

“How the hell did you get in here?”

“I have my ways. I warned you before that you would be getting a visit from me…”

Reita winced.

“You’re actually a very scary person, aren’t you?”

“What gave you that idea,” came a laugh.

“Look, I really want to fix my mistake, but how can I…”

“I can help you there… but you better make everything right… or one night, you’ll get another visit from me... and I promise you… I will not be as forgiving…”

“I’m willing to do anything.”

“I’ll hold you to that.”

A few days later…

“Onii-chan, I have a surprise for you,” Megumi said.

Maika was sitting in front of the TV, staring blankly at whatever show was on. He looked at his phone. He had expected Reita to call… after all if he cared, he would, right? But a month had almost passed.

“I’m not in the mood Megumi,” Maika groaned.

“But it’s a really yummy surprise.”

“It’s okay… I’m not all that hungry,” Maika said staring blankly at the TV screen once more.

Megumi rolled her eyes. She stared at the mess her brother looked like. He obviously had not been sleeping well… so there were bags under his eyes. He had red eyes. He looked like a ghost or like he was possessed.

“Onii-chan, you owe me… trying to marry me off to an old man…” Megumi sniffled, making Maika feel guilty.
Maika groaned inwardly. He turned the TV off and turned to face his sister.

“Fine, what is it?”

“It was Hayato onii-san and my idea. You’re going to go on a ten-minute speed dating thing. There are better fish in the sea and you need to go catch one.”

“You do realize I’m getting married to a cute fish that turned out to be a lying shark. Even if I meet a better fish, I’m not going to be able to do anything. Besides… I don’t even know if I want to meet a better fish.”

“Nonsense… If I have my way, Reita or Rei, whoever he/she is will never be able to show his/her face in public again.”

“No!” Maika yelled. Megumi stared at her brother in shock.

“I thought you hated him?”

“I don’t hate him… I’m mad at him… But I don’t want him to be hurt. I think I’m in love with him,” Maika finally admitted to Megumi and to himself.

Megumi sighed.

“This is not good onii-chan.”

“I know…”

“Well at least try out the speed dating thing and if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t. But at least this way you won’t have any regrets… just in case this thing you call love doesn’t work out…”

“Do you really want me to do this?” Maika asked.

Megumi stared at him very seriously.

“Yes. If I can help you avoid this marriage then I will.”

“Okay… fine… I’ll do it.”
