New Beginings

Co-written with Aya

Daisuike jolted awake, breathing hard and clutching at the sheets. A fine sheen of sweat covered his whole body and he at once felt too hot and numbingly cold. He took several deep breaths wiping sweat soaked hair from his forehead. Glancing over he could see that Ruka was still asleep and breathed a small sigh of relief. It was short lived as the images from the dream resurfaced. He scrambled out of the bed needing to move, to do something to get rid of the terror overwhelming him.

Stumbling into the kitchen he leaned against the counter for a moment. He needed something to numb the guilt and pain. He hated this feeling, knowing he’d ended a life even if Fujimaru had deserved it. He’d felt the blade slide home, warm blood gushing all over him as he’d hit Fujimaru’s heart. It had spasmed making the blade twitch in his hand. He gagged leaning over the sink. He couldn’t keep thinking about it. It was making him think off all the other times and the guilt was going to drive him insane. Numb and shaking he searched through the cabinets until he found the rum. Not even bothering with a glass he went and sat on the couch. Within the hour the rum was gone and so was the pain along with the horrible sick feeling in his chest. Staggering into the bedroom he collapsed on the bed next to Ruka.

Ruka smiled as he woke up stretching awake. The doorbell rang and he sighed. Whoever it was, they were not on his good list today. Trudging out of bed pulling some pants on, not bothering with a shirt, he ran a hand through his hair. Going to the door he glanced at the clock. It was nearly 10. Who the hell rang the doorbell at 10?

Pulling it open he saw his short friend standing there, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Morning to you too Ruka. . . Did I wake you?"

"No I usually look like this."

"Really? I thought you wore eyeliner-"

"Shut up Masa. Why are you here?"

"Ano- I was wondering since you had so many leftovers-"

Ruka slammed the door shut stalking off. "Go home Masa!"

"But! RUKA!!" He rang the doorbell again. With a twitching eye Ruka stalked back glaring at him as he yanked the door open.

"You wake Ouji-sama and I'll kill you. Fine, stay put." Slamming the door shut he glared as he went to the fridge grabbing a tupperware and opening the door shoving it into his hands. "Go."

"Sankyou!" Masa chirped happily walking back to the elevator.

"I swear. . . " Shaking his head he moved back to the bedroom wanting to go back to sleep.

Daisuike raised his head up off the pillow trying to get his eyes to open and focus. There was an empty spot where Ruka had been and . . . was that the front door? He blinked a few times looking at the clock. His head was pounding and felt like it had been stuffed full of lead. He ran a hand over his eyes trying to think past the irritating pain. Was he supposed to do anything today? He had some phone calls he wanted to make but that was all he could think of right now.

Pushing himself up off the bed he headed into the bathroom. He felt sweaty and gross and wanted a nice soothing shower.

Ruka rubbed at his eyes seeing Daisuike not in bed and hearing the shower. "What the hell is he doing up? I'm going to kill Masa. . ." Dragging a hand through his hair he moved to the bathroom to join Daisuike in it. That always perked his day up.

"Mmm, so what's the hurry for Ouji-sama?"

"Oh morning, sorry I slept late. I’ll heat up breakfast as soon as I get out." Daisuike grabbed the shampoo and realized they were getting low. Another thing to add to his list. Though he wasn't sure why they were going through it so fast. Maybe it was just that he wasn't used to sharing a bottle. “Ano, Ruka . . . I’ve got a really bad headache . . .”

Ruka stopped, his fingers still resting on Daisuike’s hip. “Oh. Sorry, you want me to get you something for it.”

“I’ll get it when I get out of the shower, thanks.”

Ruka nodded and with a slight frown started to wash Daisuike. Even if they didn’t do anything it was nice to just touch, and be near him. The shower was over took quickly for his tastes and Daisuike seemed to be in a bit of pain, which was probably from the new bruises he had. Ruka was a bit alarmed to see them on his neck too. It had been too close, entirely too close yesterday.

While the food was warming Daisuike decided to call Hoshi. Ruka was watching TV in the living room his ankle propped up. Daisuike glanced at the clock making sure it wasn't too early. He wondered if the man would even remember him. Finding the number on Ruka's phone he dialed it, suddenly a little nervous.

Grumbling Hoshi fell off the bed scrambling to turn the damn phone off, then blinked up from the floor realizing it wasn't his alarm but his ringer. Sighing he sat up reaching over and grabbing his phone. The number wasn't familiar but no one had his number that he didn't want.

Glaring he flipped it open speaking harshly into it, "Who the fuck is this?"

"Ano . . . ano, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you . . . this is Daisuike, Ruka's boyfriend. I . . . eto . . . I had a favor to ask of you." His bit his lip wondering if he was going to get yelled at. He hadn't thought it was that early, but then again what was late for him was early for other people.

Rubbing his head Hoshi blinked in shock. Why was Ruka's boyfriend calling him at- he looked at the clock trying to get it to focus- before noon to ask a favor? Rolling his eyes he got up scratching his side and yawning.

"Yeah yeah, what is it?" Then it hit him. They were out of the hospital? "Wait, you guys are out of the hospital!? What the fuck! Why didn't Ruka call me!? I'm going to skin that little shit next time I see him."

"Actually, we got home . . . the day before yesterday. Ruka’s been in a lot of pain." He stirred the miso as he talked needing something to do with his hands. He wasn’t about to tell Hoshi that Ruka’d been kidnapped by a crazy yakuza bent on killing both of them. "I was actually calling about the Saleen."

"Goddamnit, you had to remind me? I can't believe that shithead went and did something so stupid! That car is completely totaled." Grabbing his hair he walked around his living space pacing. He was going to beat Ruka when he saw him next. "But what? Why are you callin about it?"

"It wasn't entirely Ruka's fault. The other racers deliberately made him wreck." It made Daisuike furious just thinking about it and he forced himself to calm down. "I was afraid it was totaled. Fuji and Masa wouldn't let me see the wreck so I wasn't sure how bad the damage was. How much would it cost to get a new one with some added features?"

"About ¥57,600,000. Why? Are you planning on getting him a new one or something? Don't bother. He'll get a new one in about a month or so. Just wait until his funds are back up and he'll get it. I didn't think you cared for cars much Daisuike."

It surprised him to hear Daisuike asking about it. That kid had hated driving so why would he even think of getting Ruka a replacement car? It was strange to him. Maybe, just maybe, Daisuike actually really liked Ruka. Though he wasn't sure how he would have the money to pay for it.

Daisuike cringed hearing the price. "Yabai!" He mouthed softly. There was no way he had enough money for everything he wanted to do. Takahiro wouldn't loan him that much and his funds were seriously depleted after getting the race way reserved. He did some quick calculating in his head. It would take longer than he wanted but it was the only way he could do it.

"Ano . . . I can come up with half that as a down payment and deliver the rest when the car is ready. You cannot tell Ruka though. I want it to be a surprise."

He was going to have to get back to work if he hoped to not have to dip into his trust fund too much. He was glad now that Takahiro had made all of them set them up. It was just a major ordeal getting any money out and he didn't want to tell his father what it was for. As far as he knew Takahiro didn't even know about Ruka yet.

"How much more would it cost me to have new safety features installed in each of his racers?"

Hoshi choked on the water he had been sipping as he listened to Daisuike's request. Coughing he tried to calm himself staring with wide eyes. Was this kid insane? Did he realize how much that was going to cost? He had to know, but to ask to add those plus getting him a new car as a replacement. Daisuike had to be really in love with Ruka to do something like this.

Frowning he coughed once more before he spoke, "You really love him don't you." Sighing he tapped his chin doing some math in his head, "Alright. You know what? Let's do this. Ruka will eventually buy his car again, I know this. So why don't we do this. You owe me nothing for the car and Ruka pays me once the car is delivered. You will owe me 20,000,00 for the safety features. I'll install them in all his cars."

Leaning back against the counter he smirked, "How does that sound Daisuike? You pay me half the 20,000,000 now and once this is all settled and whatever you got planned done and over with, you can pay me the rest. Or Ruka can, not like he isn't loaded."

"Ano . . . are you sure. I mean I can give you that much up front right now for the new features. I just want to make sure that no matter which car he decides to drive they are all as safe as you can possibly make them. I don't trust anyone else to take care of it. But . . . I'm not sure how to get you the cars without Ruka knowing." This might actually work out better anyway. He was already having to lie about where all his money had went. Well not really lie. Jiro knew and had just told him he was freaking nuts and he hoped they had fun.

"I'm sure- Wait. . .Which cars? Only his racers?" Hoshi frowned, "Hold on." Moving from his kitchen Hoshi went to his office. "His newer racers would only need a few more items each, his normal cars honestly can't get any new features. I've been secretly added a lot of them and not having him pay for them. He doesn't realize that all of the cars have roll bars. He told me he'd never crash his cars." Hoshi snorted.

"Not crash my ass. Last time the little shit almost died." Hoshi grumbled a bit then sighed moving to look out the window towards the storage unit near him. "Let me ask you something Daisuike and I want you to answer this truthfully." He paused for a moment looking down at a photo touching it lightly.

"Do you love him? I mean honestly love him. Not some puppy love or first love kind of love. But would you risk your life for him? Do you truly love him?"

There was no hesitation as Daisuike answered. "I do love him. More than I ever thought it was possible to love someone. As far as risking my life. I already have and I would gladly to it again. Ruka is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I will do everything I can to make sure he knows it."

"I guess I might as well tell you now. I've already told Fuji, but you have to promise me you will not breathe a word about it to anyone else. I reserved Suzuka for a weekend so Ruka can race to his hearts content for three days straight."

Hoshi blinked, then removed the phone from his ear to stare at it. What was hell was this kid on? He reserved Suzuka? But he also said he had risked his life for Ruka already and would do it again. That put him in the good with him. Staring at it for a moment longer he then slowly put it back to his ear still a bit shocked.

"When do the cars need to be ready by?"

"The end of next month. If that's too soon I'll gladly pay more to make sure they are all ready on time. I want him to have all of his cars there so he can drive whichever one he wants." He took the miso off the stove and turned it off then turned to lean against the counter. "My only problem is that I'm not sure how to get the cars to you without him finding out and I really, really want it to be a surprise. I can probably get Masa and Fuji's help but I don't know what to tell Ruka as to why his cars are all gone."

Hoshi laughed a bit shaking his head taking a seat in his chair pulling out a pen and paper. This guys was total serious about it and he'd do almost anything for Ruka. It made him happy. Ruka deserved someone like this guy to make him happy and to make him complete and Hoshi would do anything so that Ruka could keep him in his life.

"Don't worry about his cars. He stores them here. I can tinker with them whenever I want and he'd never know. As for getting it done by the end of next month, I can do it by then so don't worry about it." A small smile crossed his lips as he started to write some figures and numbers out.

"And the cost for the safety features?" He paused his smile turning into a smirk, "Think of it as an early wedding present." Casually Hoshi flipped the phone closed ending the call and continuing his work.

Daisuike stared at the phone for several long moments the dial tone seeming very loud. He didn't hear it, all he could hear was the last thing Hoshi had said. Wedding present?!

He turned back to the stove in a daze setting the phone on the counter. Was that even possible? Could they? Would Ruka want to? He shook himself finishing up making breakfast with a huge grin on his face.

Ruka yawned stretching then started cursing a storm up, holding his ribs. He had completely forgotten about those in his groggy moment and now he felt like he was going to throw up from the pain. Sitting up he coughed hissing in pain.

"Fuck! I am going to rip that guy's fucking balls off and shove them down his throat!" Collapsing back he exhaled sharply curling his toes. "Ne!! Ouji-sama!! Are you near the pills?! Can I have the bottle? Or like a gallon of pills or something!?" He felt like such a baby but it hurt to even breathe that this point.

Daisuike started hearing Ruka. He hated to hear the pain in his voice. Grabbing up the tray he'd been fixing he made sure that every thing was on it, including the pills. He knew how much Ruka like his traditional breakfast and had made sure that he'd gotten everything made. He'd even included a side of fruit for him.

"Hai! I'm coming just hang on." He walked into the living room smiling at Ruka. "Sorry love I was trying to hurry. Here are your pills."

Ruka blinked staring at him seeing him with the tray. He seriously was like a little wife and it made him laugh picturing Daisuike like that which in turn made his ribs hurt even more but he couldn't stop laughing. Between the laughing and coughing in pain he finally got himself composed sitting up smiling at him.

Reaching out he took the pills then dragged Daisuike over for a lingering kiss, "You seriously are like a little house wife you know that? Maybe you should quit being a Yakuza and be my little wife." He grinned kissing him softly.

At first Daisuike was worried, not sure why Ruka was laughing and not wanting him to hurt himself. His eyes widened as he pulled back from the kiss and he stared at Ruka for a moment before turning to get the food. He knew he was blushing like mad, but Ruka saying that right after Hoshi mentioning weddings was a bit much.

"An-ano . . . I don't know how good a wife I would make . . ."

Ruka grinned taking hold of his arm dragging him closer to kiss and caress him gently, "You're already doing 90% of the job. I don't think you can do the other 10% though like most wifes." He smirked, "Unless there's something you've forgotten to mention to me." He grinned kissing his jaw lightly.

It was adorable to see Daisuike blushing. He was so cute and honestly he would make a wonderful wife/husband thing.

"Then maybe you'd make a good . . . husband."

Daisuike smiled a mischievous glint in his eyes. He was careful not to spill anything as he set the tray down. He looked at Ruka. "You act more like the husband anyway and besides, I'm not letting you in the kitchen to cook. Ever. Now here, eat before it gets too cold."

"See, acting like a mother." Ruka sung softly smirking at Daisuike. Honestly Daisuike didn't seem too against the idea and hadn't protested really. He'd continue to drop hints and see if Daisuike would eventually like to marry him. Ruka really wanted to marry him too.

Grinning he started on his breakfast, feeling a bit relaxed finally from the pills. It felt nice to have Daisuike with him and to not feel the sharp pain through his torso.
