Chapter 2

Originally this was going to be about a boy who falls in love with one of his fatherÕs slaves, it was to be on a farm before the civil war. But I donÕt know that much about farming things, so here in lies why a mansion. But I really am happy that this story has caught your guyÕs interest. And IÕm sure your all like Òwait she just put in Marian why is she getting r of her?Ó to tell you the truth I hate writing about girls seeing as I am one. I donÕt even draw them, not b/c I canÕt, and itÕs b/c I donÕt want to. And frankly I just donÕt like a lot of girls in my stories; they get in the way most of the time anyways. I find it interesting that my story makes sense to you guys, seeing as I start writing these stories when IÕm way tired and havenÕt eaten in like 6 hour.

To my reviewers:

Zelasii and Lacey: thank you so much for watching my story as well as reviewing IÕm glade you like it.

Zelasii: I know the formatting is bad I got rather pissed at the thing, I told it to do spacing and when I went to see how it was, I was like Òhey!Ó But I hope your guess on whatÕs wrong with him is right.

Cobraqueen: I know its mean last chapter I was going to mention his ÒproblemÓ, and it is killing me not telling you guys whatÕs wrong with him. But I think itÕs in this or the next chapter when I mention it.

Pizzaboyy: IÕm so happy to see that you find this story interesting, and like I told Zelasii I spaced it, but it just didnÕt do it, stupid thing. Anyways I hope you like the guy put in for this story and I hope to see you and the others review again.

Chapter 2

Lucas sat in the kitchen smoking a cigarette the chef had offered him as a welcome gift to the mansion. He was a very handsome man of twenty, with black wavy hair the reached passed his ears and eyes the color of storm clouds, he was at an impressive 6Õ4, he was born a servant in a wealthy drunks house. Unfortunately his old master had drank so much that he was now poor, and a servant himself.  So when Lord Harker came along and bought most of the servants, though everyone knew he already had more then enough servants Loicus had to wonder why he was buying so many of them.  The kitchen was quite busy this morning and Lucas thought he was to help them, but was confused when the head chef slapped his hands away and told him to sit and wait for the master to call upon him.

ÒWhat is the Harker family like?Ó he asked the head chef who was making a stew for the families lunch.

ÒTheyÕre a proud family, donÕt mingle with the low lives. Rather be spat on then talk to one of us, mind you theyÕll order you around still, doesnÕt make them think your human or of any worth.Ó The chef said, he was a round little man with pudgy checks a smile on his on his lips, and a twinkle in his beetle black eyes.

ÒBut your luck your young, means your useful to the master, and Lord Harker hates useless things. IÕve heard of one time when a servant got to old the Master to the old bugger out side and made the poor sob go down to his knees and then shot the bastard right in the head.Ó The chef said shacking his head while adding an onion to the stew.

ÒLord Harker seems like a bastard.Ó Lucas said as he looked out the window. It wasnÕt unheard of Master to kill his servants but still it was a nasty thing to think of.

ÒYeah and his two sons arenÕt any better, spoiled you see. Got everything they wanted, they did. Used to come running through my kitchen and ransack the place, making a mess and doing what ever they want. Heard the oldest one even forced another noble family to let him marry their daughter, after raping her and everything. I think thatÕs why the Lord Harker has bought you poor bastards. Though I did hear that Marian is being sold to another family, old bats been here since the HarkerÕs third son was born stillborn. But I donÕt think the thirty of you are here to replace one servant.Ó The chef was now cutting a leg of lamb that had been roasting over one of the six fireplaces.

Lucas took in the information that the chef was telling him about the family he would server. The door to the kitchen opened to let in an older lady of 60 came in. ÒOh, thereÕs the old bat right now.Ó The chef mutter, as the lady started to make her way towards them.

ÒIs the stew done yet, Ron?Ó the lady had a very soft voice one that made Lucas remember his mother whole had been sold to another family.

ÒAlmost done, why? You donÕt serve the Harker family their lunch.Ó Ron the chef said as he eyed Marian.

ÒYou know I canÕt tell you where I take the food.Ó Marian smiled as she waged her finger at him as though he was a naughty child. She smiled over at Lucas who just stared back at her. ÒSo you must be Loicus, the master has told me to take you to your job within this house.Ó She said still smiling at him.

Lucas hated people who smiled too much it freaked him out. ÒYes IÕm Lucas.  I was told to wait here until Lord Harker called for me.Ó

ÒWell youÕd be waiting a long time, now would you mind carrying that tray for me, my poor old arms arenÕt what they used to beÓ she pointed to a tray that Ron was putting the finishing touches to.

Lucas nodded and when Ron was done picked up the tray that held the stew some bread and a glass of milk.

ÒNow then follow me. Thank you Ronald. Ò Marian called over her should to Ron who growled at being called Ronald, Lucas following after her.

ÒNow your new job is to take care of a Lord HarkerÕs third son. IÕm sure you have heard the rumor of how the third son was born a stillborn, well it not true. The young master is very much alive and is to always stay in his room no matter what is that understand.  I have taken care of the young master all his life, but recently Lord Harker wants his third son to be manlier. The young masters name is Alexander but you are not to call him that unless he tells you to, is that understood.Ó Marian said in a stern voice looking over her shoulder at Lucas, who nodded.

ÒGood. He is a kind boy that knows little of the out side world and it must remain that way. Even though Lord Harker does not like his son, that doesnÕt mean you donÕt show respect to him. Ò Marian said sternly, she would have no one spoil Alexander, he was to remain pure in all sense of the word.  They didnÕt talk the rest of the way coming to a staircase that lead up to a beautifully carved door.

Marian pulled out a silver key as they reached the door, but did not put it in; instead she turned and looked at Loicus.

ÒThe young master has never known another person besides Lord Harker and myself. Once I am sold you are the one to watch over him, you will have this key the other is with Lord Harker. Keep this key close to you never let it off your person, understand. No one is to know about him, you must never tell anyone about him. I donÕt know what Lord Harker would do to the one who tells.Ó Marian looked grave as she looked into LucasÕs stormy eyes. Lucas nodded, and Marian smiled again turning back to the door.

Lucas could hear a soft music playing in the room; it was a violin playing a sweet song that Lucas had never heard before. Marian smiled softly and turned the key, at the lock being open the music stopped. And the door openedÉ

Zuka here: I know a cliffhanger, I hate them when IÕm reading and I know your pain but I must leave it at that, It seems at this rate it will take a little longer to get to what AlexanderÕs problem is. I know its killing some of you but please hold on just a little longer. So once more Review to make this story and me feel loved and hopefully IÕll have the next chapter up soon.
