EPISODE 3

EPISODE 3

“Great meeting today everyone. I hope to see you all tomorrow.” Brian got up from the chair and made his way over to Liam.
“Hey there buddy. Sorry about yesterday but one of my friends needed some help with a situation. So what did you call about?” Liam just looked at Brian. Instead of answering Liam just walked out of the room into the long corridor. Brian just stared at the door for awhile before he began to walk. He went out into the corridor and there stood Liam at the exit door. Liam just stood there staring at the outside. Staring at the clouds. He heard it was suppose to rain so he slowly opened the door and made his way out. Brian followed behind him.
“Liam what’s up? Why are you ignoring me?” Liam didn’t stop he just kept walking. “Liam I am talking to you.” Brian called out to him. Liam finally stopped. He just stood there and stared at a tree. He walked over to the tree and rubbed it.
“Have you ever wondered what a tree feels? Does the tree know that soon it might be turned into paper? Does it know that it’s only friend is the rain?” Liam began to cry.
“’Liam what is wrong? Talk to me. I’m here to help you. I’m here to b your friend.”
“Really Brian? Is that the truth or are you just saying that to keep me from cutting myself again? Answer me.” Brian just stared at him like he was some psycho. “Exactly. I knew that when I told you my secret you would bail on me. Just like everyone else. Just like my parents. They went away on a so-called trip. They won’t be back anytime soon.”
“Listen Liam I have been through stuff. I have my own secrets. Ones that are worst then yours. I could care less that you’re gay. That doesn’t phase me at all. You are you and I am me. We can still be friends.” Brian put his arm around Liam’s shoulder. “Let’s go somewhere where we can talk some more. I am your friend.” Liam smiled at Brian. They walked through the park and they smiled all the way there.

“Mother I have to go somewhere. So I’ll be right back.” Carl yelled from the front door. Carl was stressed out from his mother. He knew that she loved his father but she had to get over the fact that he is gone. That he left and may never be coming back. So he walked to the nearest train station. He stood there on the platform and waited for the “D” train to come roaring through the tunnel. Flashes came to him. Flashes of a day he never wanted to remember.
“Get off of me.” SLAP. “Stop hitting me please.” “Ouch that hurts p-p-please stop doing that to me.”
Carl snapped back to reality when he heard the train come to a screeching halt. He entered the train and he sat next to the door. He looked around at the people on that train. He looked into their eyes and wondered if they had endured pain like he has. He leaned back and closed his eyes and drifted to a half sleep state.

“I’m glad you came to see me. I needed someone here with me.” David hugged Theresa close to him. So close that she felt and heard his heart beat.
“Baby you know that I’m here for you. So Derrick is doing okay right?”
“Yeah. The doctors said it was only a cut. The liquor is what made him pass out. So he’ll be out today.” He got up from his bed and made his way over to his dresser. He opened it and pulled out a small gold box.
“I brought you something and I want you to have it now.” David made his way back over to Theresa. She looked at him and smiled a smile of nervousness.
“Christmas is not here yet.”
“This is not for Christmas. This is just because I love you with all my heart.” He handed her the gold box. She slowly put her hands out and reluctantly took the box. She slowly lifts the top off the box. There inside was a gold necklace. She took it out and noticed that it had a button on the side. She pushed the button and the front of the necklace opened up. Inside was picture of them together in Central Park. She smiled.
“I LOVE IT.” She jumped up and kissed David. He put his arms around her and held her. He loved the way she felt up against him. He loved her and only her.
“Well David I have a surprise for you as well.” Theresa didn’t want to tell him the truth the day before but now she knew that everything would be okay. She opened her purse and handed him an open envelope.
“WOW I’m only worth a card?” David asked with a smile on his face.
“No ass just open it.” David opened the envelope and took out the paper that lay inside. He opened the paper and began to read. He smiled a big smile. He looked at her.
“You’re pregnant?”
“Yes I am David.” David cried but these were tears of joy.
“I love you Theresa. I love this gift too.” He looked at the paper again and smiled again.

Amanda awoke once again to the sound of laughter. She looked at her clock but this time it read 2:35 PM. She got up from her bed and made her way to the kitchen. There was her mother. The woman that she hated with a passion. She walked right past her and made her way to the fridge. Amanda looked at her mother and laughed.
“What’s so funny?” Her mother asked her.
“How you look like that and I came out looking like this. I just wonder how that is possible.” Amanda opened a container of OJ and drank straight from the container.
“Please don’t drink from the container. Get a cup.” Her mother demanded her. Amanda looked at her.
“Listen when you start contributing in this house then you’ll have every right to tell me what to do. But the good thing is that you’ll soon be out of here. So have you found a place mother?”
“Actually daughter Melinda said that I can stay here. She left my room the way it was since I left. Everything is the same. So mother is home for good.”
“Melinda has been living in this fairy tale world where she has a mother. One that would love her but me on the other hand was raised in the real world. The one where your ass was never here and I never cared. So you won’t be staying here in this house with me. I’ll be damned.”
“Well I guess the devil is waiting for your damned soul cause I’m not budging.” Melinda then came into the kitchen.
“How dare you tell this WOMAN that she could stay here? Did you consult with the other person that lives here, ME?” Amanda was furious. Her face became red as she yelled.
“This is our mother Amanda. She gave birth to us. So she will be staying here as long as she wants.”
“You’re such an idiot. Why do you really think she came back?”
“I came back because I love you both.”
“Shut up I wasn’t speaking to you. Melinda how can you forgive her?”
“The bible says to forgive.”
“So what dumb ass. The bible is a bunch of shit. It is a bunch of lies and such. Does the bible say that a mother should abandon her children? Does it say that shit?” Amanda walked into the living and made her way to the bookshelf. She pulled out a bible and made her way back to the kitchen.
“Hey mother how bout you tell us if it says that.” Amanda then threw the bible at her. “Open it bitch and tell us.” Amanda then stormed out the kitchen and made her way to the bathroom.
“I’m so sorry mom. She is usually not like this I swear.”
“It’s okay Melinda I don’t hate her. I just hope that she can forgive me soon.” Then she began to talk in her head. “BEFORE I HAVE TO TELL HER THE TRUTH…CAUSE THEN SHE’LL HATE BOTH OF US.”

“Well hello there Carl. I’m glad you gave us a call. Here at Window Mills we take good care of our tenants. We treat them as our own family.” The tall slender man told Carl as they walked through the corridor of the nursing home. It reeked of old people and Ben-Gay. He looked into rooms as he passed them. Some rooms had people watching television, some rooms had old people reading books and then in the family room some people had family visiting. He felt weird seeing those people there.
“We do supply food for the people here. We supply medicine and all the necessities. I promise that your mother will be fine here. We will help her though her depression. Doctors will help her I promise.” Carl looked at the man as he smiled. How could anyone be so happy to see another person thrown in there?
“Well Mr. Lintch I have to go home and think bout this carefully.” Carl smiled at him shook his hand and walked away. Carl walked by a woman’s room. He stopped to look in at her. She sat there on her chair knitting. She looked lonely. So Carl walked in her room to say hello.
“Hello there miss. I see you’re knitting. Anything specific?” Carl waited for an answer. Just then the lady stopped knitting and looked up at Carl.
“I’m knitting a protection sweater from all the evil out there. There is evil all around us. I feel it right now.” She dropped her needle and thread and she felt cold. She felt something was in the room that wasn’t right.
“You…You’re pure evil. I KNOW WHAT YOU DID. I SEE IT. I SEE YOU. I SEE THE MAN. HANDS. A KNIFE. BLOOD. YOU’RE EVIL.” The woman yelled and then a guard came into the room.
“What is going on in here?” The guard asked
“I don’t know I just came in to say hello cause she looked lonely and she started saying obscene things.” The guard calmed her down and escorted Carl out of the building. Carl leaned against a poll and he took a deep breath.
“How could she know?” He asked himself.

“So Brian tell me about your girlfriend Kimberly.” Liam told Brian.
“Well where do I start? She is wonderful Okay I’m done.” Brian and Liam laughed together. For once Brian felt good since the incident. He had his friends but they were always there. Liam was new in his life and he needed someone new to talk to.
“She sounds WONDERFUL.” Liam mocked Brian. “I know this might be a little uncomfortable but what led you to trying to commit suicide?” Brian then heard the voice again.
“GO AHEAD BRIAN TELL HIM EVERYTHING.” Brian shook his head to get the voice out.
“Well Liam right now I’m not ready to speak about that. It’s still all so fresh to me. The incident was only about 3 months ago. I’m sorry.”
“No man I totally understand. Whenever you’re ready we can talk and you know that.” Brian took a sip of his hot chocolate. He looked down at his wrist and he knew that the voice was wrong. He felt that Liam could help him. So he looked back up and Liam and responded “Of course man. When I’m ready you’ll be the first to know.”

David leaned against his wall. He stood there and waited for the sound of an angry man. He knew that as soon as his stepfather came home he knew that everything would be bad. Just then he heard the front door open up. He made his way to the living room to greet his mom and Derrick. Instead all he saw was his mother. She had been crying.
“Where is Derrick?” David stared at his mother.
“Derrick is dead. He had a heart attack.” David looked at her. He hated the man but he didn’t want him dead. David fell on the floor. It was his entire fault. He killed someone. David stood there on the floor and flashes came back to him.
“Okay you have to do it like this.” “Hurry up before your mom comes home.” “Throw it in already stop thinking before someone comes.”
“David. David are you okay?” His mother asked him.
“Yeah mom I’m okay. How did it happen?”
“Doctors don’t know yet. They are doing test to see what may have caused the heart attack. But we’ll be okay. I promise you that.” She leaned down and hugged David. David felt a half smile come on his face.

LATER THAT NIGHT

Theresa lay on her bed and stared at the necklace that David had given her. She knew that everything was going to be okay. David was the man that she would be with forever. She touched her stomach and began to talk.
“I’m sorry baby but I made up my mind. Daddy will love you I know that but I won’t.”

Brian took out his notebook and began to write,

“Dear friend of mine,

I had my other session today with the others and it was great. I am starting to feel better as the days go by. The voice is still there but I won’t listen to her. She is just crazy. Yes I know friend…that woman is my mother but she is just not making any sense. She told me to not be Liam’s friend the other day. She told me he was trouble but all I see is a kind-hearted person that needs help like me. So I think that we can help each other. He makes me laugh. He makes me forget all about that incident (the one that I can’t even mention in here). I’m feeling weird though when I’m around him. I don’t know what it is though. But I’m going to bed I’m tired. So talk to you another day.”
