Chapter 3
A/N: Here is the third chapter. Whether it is good or not, I’m not entirely sure. I was in an especially bad mood when I wrote this, so I really do promise that this chapter won’t be a happy one. If you are reading this, then you already know that this story contains lesbian content. Nothing graphic…yet…but there is a relationship. The story also contains cutting, which as you already know, is quite graphic. Hopefully that doesn’t upset you, but if it does, you have been warned. I’m not really sure where this story is going, and I’m pretty much letting the characters do what they want. So there are no guarantees for timely updates, nor is there a guarantee of a happy ending. Read and review, and tell me if this is complete garbage that needs to be thrown away immediately…save me the embarrassment please. Anyway, on with the story!
Chapter 3
Aurora woke up at around noon to find the apartment completely empty. After leaving Alex’s house she had needed to think. She knew damned well how Ileana treated her lover. It was sad really. Alex had never been strong emotionally, often falling for the worst people. Almost every one of her exes had used her to some degree.
Oh she’d been no angel as a teenager, but Alex had never blatantly used anybody. Sure she’d partied a lot, but even then, she wasn’t using them as much as she let on. If you heard the stories from her, she’d slept with everyone and their sister, and then not thought twice about it when they parted ways. In truth however, she’d been quite pathetic. She’d slept with the girls, and then left to avoid the rejection she knew would come. In truth, Alex was so unconfident in herself, that she’d developed a nasty habit of running from potentially good relationships. That had continued in college, and it got to the point that she believed that she deserved no better.
It was no secret amongst the blonde’s close friends that Ileana didn’t stop Alex from cutting. In fact, Aurora suspected that she encouraged it. The woman was sick, and didn’t deserve Alex. But there was no way of making Alex see that. She’d just pull away even more, and God only knows how much damage that would cause.
Aurora shakes herself from her musings, and makes her way to her bathroom. Her husband was at work, and her two children were at school. Michael was just starting kindergarten. Her eldest son, Ryan, was going into the third grade. The boys resembled their father so much it was almost scary. Michael had his father’s midnight black hair, and bright blue eyes, while Ryan sported his mother’s lighter colored hair, and those piercing blue eyes,
Slowly, Aurora washes herself clean. It was her day off, so she took her time. She worked as a mechanic five days a week. That’s how she’d met her husband actually. He had brought it into the shop, after it had broken down for the third time. He’d become entranced by her beauty, so asked her to dinner. The rest, as they say, is history.
Her mind drifts to the previous night. She was still in shock at what she’d found. Alex had seemed defeated, almost broken. Her voice had been below a whisper as she’d asked Aurora to stay the night. Aurora was no fool. She knew damned well that given the chance, Alex would try to win her back. If it weren’t for Aurora’s preoccupation with men, the two may not have separated all those years ago. ‘No, that’s not quite true,’ her brain reminds her, ‘There were many reasons. You had stopped caring, and she stopped soon after. You know it had been coming for a while. He was just a final push, but not the main cause.’
It was with these thoughts still running through her mind that she dressed herself. Low-cut jeans, and a simple black sweatshirt. Aurora didn’t remember climbing into her car, didn’t remember starting to drive, and just barely recalled wanting food. All she knew was that a half hour later, she was pulling into the parking lot in front of Das Essen Platz. Sighing softly at the restaurant before her, she gradually climbs from her car. Aurora very nearly groans when she sees the red BMW nearby, “Great, the Bitch is back.” Her mumbled words cause a chuckle behind her, and she spins quickly, “God Sam!” she sighs, “You scared me! Where are Bitchy and Alex?”
“The Bitch got back early this morning. I assume the two went home for lunch, so don’t worry. It’s safe to be here.” Sam hated Ileana with a passion. He too had seen what had happened to Alex in the last few years. He knew all too well how distant she’d become, and he hated Ileana for it. When Alex had gotten changed this morning, he’d seen the angry red lines covering her arms. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Ileana was at least in part, the cause. Sam hadn’t said anything, knowing that Alex would only draw away from him if he did. “I take it you know she started up again?”
“Yes,” Aurora groans, “Lets go inside and we can talk some more. I take it you are on break right now?”
“For the next hour.” Sam nods, “Lets go in.”
The two settle into a booth at the back of the dining room, out of sight of most of the patrons. Their server knew that they were having a private discussion, probably about her boss, so she did her best not to disturb them. “So what happened this time?” Sam asks when their food arrives.
“The usual. Alex called me and begged me to come over. By the time I got there, and I drove as fast as I could, she was covered in blood. I did my best to clean her up, but there was just so much blood. I nearly took her to the hospital.
“I ended up staying the night…but it wasn’t the way you’re thinking. She asked me to, and I never could turn her down. So I stayed. I left before she woke up, and went home to sleep. Chris wasn’t very happy with me, as you can imagine. He tried to get me to tell him where I’d been all night, and when I didn’t, he went to work. I’m really not looking forward to repeating that argument.” Chris, Aurora’s husband, had never liked the blonde. He’d always seen her as a threat, though no one was sure why. Alex hadn’t shown any sign of wanting her in years. “Anyway, she had a nightmare. She started screaming in her sleep. It woke me up, and Sam, I’m scared. You and I both know that Ileana is bad news, hell, I think everyone but Alex knows that. But as long as she’s convinced she’s in love…” Aurora breaks off, fighting back tears.
“I know ‘Rora.” Sam rushes to hug the woman, “She’ll come around sooner or later. If this goes on much longer though, I don’t know what we’ll be able to do. Alex doesn’t let go easily. You of all people should know that by now. How many times did she take you back?”
“Four, and that is so not the point! Every time we broke up it was because of HER insecurities.”
“And yet she took you back every time…no matter what everyone told her. Her friends wanted nothing more than for you to break it off with her for good. To not let her go running back, and it took you four times to finally stop her. She’s weak. Everyone knows that. She doesn’t know how to let go of people. Wait, that’s not true. She knows damned well, she learned that skill from her father, but she hates to do it. She spent so many years leaving people that she hates to do it now…even when it is for the best. Look at her past relationships! Christa, Rachel, Deja, Meghan, Jackie, Lexi, hell, even you and I! Most of the people on that list she’s stopped talking to, thank god, but it took her years to figure out that she needed to break away from them. Remember Christa? Hmm? Do you remember all the shit that bitch caused? If she hadn’t moved to Canada, I’d have kicked her ass myself! And don’t even get me started on Rachel!”
“Sam relax. They aren’t here. Getting pissed off about the past won’t help her now. We need to find a way to make her see what Ileana is doing. We’ve tried reasoning with her, and it didn’t work. We could try to catch Ileana doing something…unsavory. But even then I’m not sure it’d work. I don’t want to lose her anymore than I already have.”
“I know. But we may not have a choice. She might hate us for anything we do, you need to be prepared for that.”
“I know. Believe me, I know.”
The two spent the rest of their time planning ways to separate the women. It couldn’t be put off any longer, not if Aurora’s suspicions were correct. After finishing their lunch, Aurora left to go home.
A/N: As I said before, I really don’t know if this is complete crap or not. That tends to happen to me when I become slightly attatched to a story. Added to that is my increasingly pissy mood, and you might be able to understand why I’m not exactly taking much time on checking through everything. I did a spell check, and tried to catch most of the grammar mistakes, but no promises.
