Chapter 3 Friendship put to the test
The next day at school Jen could not stop thinking about how or when to approach Mary. How could you ask such a high achieving Junior that was so full of herself to go out with freshman that she only knew about due to her relationship with Jen. She was full of mixed emotions. Everytime she tried to think about the positive outcomes of the situation situation, a different thought would take over about the negative possibilites.
Jen was so scared. She couldn't focus all day. The thought of asking her best friend to go out with her little brother simply was a scary thought but something she knew she had to do or face the unspeakable wrath of her parents for what she had done.
Jen relized that Cheerleading practice was today and that would be the best place to approach Mary about going out with her little brother. Jen had observed in the past that Mary was most agreeable there than anywhere else. When school ended, she went to the gym for practice. In the girls locker room while dressing out, she told Mary she needed to talk to her in private after practice and that it was something serious. Mary agreed to speak to her in private after practice and wondered what could be so serious that Jen of all girls would consider it so urgent.
Practice went by quickly, and the girls headed to the locker room and dressed back into normal clothes. Mary followed Jen to around the back of the Jen where Jen began explaining the situation.
"We've been best friends forever right?" Jen asked.
"Yeah, since I was in 5th and you were in 4th grade." Mary said.
"Alright, I need your help on something. I know this may sound very extreme but it would mean the world to me if you did it."
"What is it?"
"I need you to go out with my little brother"
"What the fuck? You mean Ben? Why would you need me to do something like that?"
"He caught me and mark in oral" Jen said with embarrassment
"WHAT?!?! Oh my...you mean...no way...not you...wh..who...what the" Mary was speechless. Like everyone else, she had always know Jen as a proper, would not do anything bad type of girl. Now she finds out this.
"How...what, I mean how could YOU be involved in sex. You always flinched at the thought of the idea of anything sexual. What happened?"
"I saw something in Mark that I had never seen in any other guy. Something special. I can't put my finger on what it is. It was just something I can not describe. Two nights ago it happened. I let me emotions and instincts take over. They led me into a night of pashion with mark in his convertible. Everything went down. You name it, we did it. He was so great. He made me squirt so many times, I lost count. I felt I needed to repay him so I decided to give in oral. I thought my little brother had gone shopping with my parents so we just started doing it right there on the couch. He heard us and came down and caught us. Now he's threatening to rat me out unless I get you to go out with him. I tried to talk him out of it, I really did, but he would not budge. I have 2 days or he's going to rat me out. You know my parents...they'll kill me!"
"Well...I...I'll talk to him. Come on, I'll give you a ride to your house where we'll go in together and talk to him. I can't promise anything right now, but I'll try to talk him out of it. I have a reputation to keep up"
"Thanks. Maybe you can talk some sense into him." Jen was relieved that Mary did not freak out on the idea and that she was understanding of the situation but that was only half the battle. The other half was getting her brother not to rat her out.
Jen and Mary drove to Jen's house and went inside and up to Jen's brother's room. They knocked and he opened the door. Ben said "Well, look who showed up. This is a pleasant surprize"
Mary said "Look, I know what you tried to do. Why are you doing this? She's your sister!"
"Because if this is the only way that I can get what I want, this is what I'll do"
"But it's not! Did you ever try coming up and talking to me? No"
"You're a Junior! You would never talk to me unless I had some bargaining chips!"
"But it's just not right using your own sister as a bargaining piece"
"Look, my offer is down. Take it or I'll be singing like a bird to mom and dad."
"I'll blow you off if that will make you stop"
Jen looked over at Mary in shock at what she just said. Jen could not believe that Mary was willing to do such a thing. Surely she could not be serious?!
"Deal. Come one in. Jen, come in and watch this." Ben said They both walked in and closed the door behind them. Jen was still in shock, surely Mary was not serious about this...
