A/N: This chapter was supposed to be longer but I have to cut it short because my brother is in the hospital for low blood pressure and they are still trying to find out what cause it. My mind is fill with worry for him. The next update for my other storys as well as this one will be slow.
Chapter Twenty-eight:
Conor stormed out of his castle and mounted his horse. Ran came running out after him, trying to stop Conor from going after Eli.
“Don't go Conor! You are married to me, you can't go to him!” said Ran.
“Don't be selfish Ran. I must go to Eli, he is carrying my baby. I'll be damned if I will let that bastard Sebastian claim my child as his own!” said Conor angrily.
“Then I'm going with you Conor!”
“Why?”
“I am your husband Conor. It is my right, not to mention the fact that I am also carrying your child.”
Conor sighed. “Fine,” he said, and rode ahead, not waiting for Ran to catch up.
“Damn you Eli!” muttered Ran before he mounted his own horse and rode off to catch up with Conor.
They both rode into a trap that Sebastian had set.
Two weeks had gone by since his return to Zhanthia. He was sitting in the royal garden with Jamie when Nicholas came into their view .
“Eli, you need to head to the throne room right now!” Nicholas announced when he came to fetch Eli.
“Alright,” said Eli. He stood up to leave but Jamie stopped him. “Jamie!” said Eli, surprised by the boy’s actions.
“Sit down Eli. You're not going anywhere until Nicholas kindly tells us why,” said Jamie in a firm voice.
Nicholas looked at Eli and blurted out what he learned. “Conor, he fell for the king’s trap and now he is in the throne room. He was captured last night along with Ran who came along with him.”
Eli got back up right away, his face filled with worry. Jamie got up as well. “Lets go Eli,” said Jamie. He took Eli’s hand and they both left the royal garden with Nicholas trailing behind them.
All three heard a loud shout of pain when they arrived at the door to the throne room. Eli flung the huge door open to see Conor on his knees, bleeding from his eyes. Also both his wrists were cut deeply. The king stood right before Conor with a cruel smirk on his face.
“Sebastian! What is the meaning of this?” Jamie shouted, demanding that his king answer him.
“Get out Jamie. This is none of your concern!” said Sebastian, his eyes locking on to Eli. With a cold smirk he yanked Conor’s face up towards him. “Your Eli is here Conor.”
“Eli!” uttered Conor.
“Its all your fault Eli! Conor became like this because of you!” a very angry Ran shouted, making his presence known as he stood with his hands bound behind his back.
Eli covered his mouth to prevent himself from crying out loud. He took a step towards Conor, but Jamie’s hand came up and stopped him once again.
Jamie stopped Eli from going any further. He didn't want Eli to get hurt. He saw the look in Sebastian’s eyes and knew that Eli’s life would be in danger if he didn't do something. “Stay here,” Jamie whispered to Eli, right before he slowly made his way to Sebastian.
“Sebastian why are you doing this? What did Conor do to deserve such torture?” he asked softly in a calm voice.
“I am only giving him what he deserves Jamie. He killed the person I loved the most in this world. I have sworn to make him feel the same pain I felt when I lost Hayden,” explained Sebastian. “Hayden was three months pregnant when he was killed by Conor,” he added with a sad look in his eyes. “I can never forgive him for taking them away from me. I have waited for this moment Jamie. Don't you try and stop me! I will have him pay for their lives, just as I will have Anders pay for ordering him to take their lives.”
Jamie’s hand went up to cup Sebastian’s face. He gazed into Sebastian’s eyes. “ Yes, killing Eli and his unborn child will make Conor suffer the same pain you felt that day. I know that Conor deserves to die in your eyes Sebastian, but Eli doesn't. Eli has always been by your side, helping you when you needed him. Do you really want to hurt him?”
Sebastian pulled away from Jamie and walked over to Eli. He grabbed Eli wrist and then walked over to Ran. He pushed them both down in front of Conor, then drew out his sword.
“Choose Conor between Eli and your prince Ran. Who do you love the most? Tell me so that I can let him join you in the afterlife.”
Conor, not being able to see, shouted out, “Bastard! If you dare hurt Eli, I will kill you.” Then he heard a scream and felt a body fall onto him. “Eli! Eli!” he cried out as he grabbed the lifeless body and cuddled it in his arms. “Eli! No Eli!” he cried out, wishing that he could see.
“I am going to let you live Conor. Killing you now is meaningless. Anders won't have any use for you now that you are blind and crippled. I will leave you to be with your loved ones,” Sebastian said before he dragged Jamie away.
Jamie turned his head and watched as his friend Eli stood before Conor, stifling his cry while watching Conor hug Ran’s dead body and call out Eli’s name.
Eli went behind Conor and wrapped his arms around him. He never knew that Conor loved him this much. He pressed his face into Conor’s back and let out his cry. “I'm sorry Ran, could you please leave me alone with Eli?” Conor said to Eli, thinking that Eli was Ran.
Eli without saying a word, moved away from Conor, and ran out of the throne room. Nicholas came up to him. “Eli, the king has said that you are free to leave the castle with Conor, but first you must take this medicine.”
Eli didn't have to ask what the medicine was for. He took it from Nicholas and drank it, just as Jamie shouted out for him to not do it. He smiled at Jamie and went to pack his clothes. He wanted to say thank you to Jamie for what he had done for him, but he couldn't. He was mute now after drinking the medicine. Losing his voice was a small price to pay he thought. One hour later, he left the castle of Zhanthia with Conor and Ran’s body.
Jamie refused to speak to Sebastian that night when Sebastian entered their bedchamber. He glared at him and turned his head away. Sebastian walked over to the angry boy and tried to hug him. His hand was slapped away immediately. The angry Jamie got up from his seat and went to sit somewhere else.
Sebastian sighed. “Look Jamie, I didn't kill Eli or kill that damn bastard Conor. What more do you want from me?” he said. “I let them go just as you wanted. Why are you still mad at me Jamie?”
It was pointless for him to discuss the reason why he was mad. Sebastian had to realize it himself, Jamie thought. He got up from his seat and walked out of the room. He bumped into Nicholas. “Just the person I wanted to see,” said Jamie with a smile.
Seeing the smile on Jamie’s face brought an uneasy feeling for Nicholas, Jamie looped his arms around Nicholas’ arm and dragged him with him. “Nicholas I was wondering if you could take me somewhere?” said Jamie.
“Where do you want to go Jamie?”
A cunning smile came on Jamie’s face. One hour later, Nicholas found himself seated across from Jamie in a carriage heading to the country of Serey. Jamie was laughing at his frowning face.
“Don't worry Nicholas I already left word with Demetrius. Just relax,” Jamie said with a chuckle as he rubbed his swollen belly.
“Relax? Jamie you tricked me! Do you have any idea how dangerous this is for you? Anders won't hesitate to kill you. I hate to admit it but our king and Anders are the same kind. They both like to use people and discard them when they have no more use for them!” Nicholas practically shouted in Jamie’s face.
Jamie just smiled. “He won't kill me Nicholas,” Jamie said calmly. Nicholas didn't know what else to say. For the rest of the trip to Serey, they both sat silently, lost in their own thoughts.
