Chapter 26

There was something strange about that new client. Usually people gave him their addresses when they wanted a massage, because he only did house calls. Never thought a house-call would involve a client coming to his home instead, and that early in the morning was even more odd, but the customer was always right.

The big man's back was nice and shiny with the oil as Julian worked out the knots in the huge muscles. Soft music at a low volume was playing from his sound system – but even with work and his favourite song playing to distract him, he couldn't help but feel a bit creeped out. The guy was laying stomach-down on the folding table, but it still felt like the guy was watching him. He had never been more relieved in his life when he heard the doorbell ring.

Apologizing quickly to the client, Julian wiped his hands on a towel as he rushed into the hallway and to the front door. He could hear the big guy moving around and it made him nervous so he sped up and tried to open the door as calmly as possible. Standing there outside was yet another creep. Rick. As good as the timing was, that was the last person he wanted to see. There was no one around to help him if the mechanic tried to hurt him. Shaking his head, he moved to close the door in the guy's face.

A foot shot out and blocked the door from closing, and then it was pushed back open. "Julian, this is important. Kyun didn't do anything wrong."

Julian tried to close it again, but paused once the words registered. Why the hell was Rick standing up for Kyun? "What?" He blinked at Rick with confusion. "What are you talking about? What didn't he do? Couldn't this wait until later, you know, when it's not such an ungodly hour?"

"Yes, Richard." The deep voice came from behind, surprising a gasp out of the masseur. The client strutted down the hallway until he was standing immediately behind Julian and then he smirked at the new arrival. Seemed like they knew each other. Maybe it was a trap. "Long time no see, racist fuck. How's the bikini wax treating ya? You know, you can get some good ointments at the pharmacy that could do wonders for that little problem of yours."

A rather strange trap, because Rick actually looked afraid. The mechanic stumbled backwards but quickly gained his composure. "It's him. Julian, stay away from that fucking psychopath. I hired him to help me get back at you, so he made me send those flowers for you to receive so it would break you up with Kyun. I wrote the card and everything. He's after Luo and some other people, so get the fuck away from him!"

Before Julian could respond, he heard the growl behind him and then was shoved roughly against the wall, stumbling and falling back to bump the back of his head hard on the floor. It took a moment of rubbing his head before he realized what had happened. He had been pushed out of the way when the client charged at the mechanic. Shouts were heard as the big guy dragged Rick inside by the neck and tossed him into the living-room. Something smashed and even more yelling was heard.

Not wasting any more time, Julian got to his feet and ran to the kitchen and to the cordless charging on the counter. His head was spinning, probably a little shook up from the fall, and it hurt pretty bad, but he managed to dial the number right the first time. It didn't even occur to him to call the police until a few moments later, but he figured calling Kyun might have a better response time.

It certainly took a while. After six rings, a drowsy voice finally answered. "Yes? Who the fuck is this?" He heard a groan and a yawn following.

Good, just the voice he wanted to hear, even if it was less than inviting. After hearing another crash, this time sounded like glass breaking, he cringed and decided to get straight to the point. "Rick showed up and got into a fight with my client. The guy is really, really big and I'm afraid he's gonna kill him! You've gotta come help him, Kyun!"

There was a pause and another groan. "Julian...?" He heard the sound of a chair being pushed and an exaggerated sigh. "It's five in the morning, I thought you didn't want to talk to me, and you want me to help Rick?" Kyun added, with plenty disbelief in his voice.

"I know what time it is." Julian walked out of the kitchen and crept up to the living room. Rick had got away but not for long. There was already a fair bit of blood being shed, and it wasn't looking good. He couldn't watch so he hurried out the front door and out onto the lawn. "Please, Kyun, I know it's a lot to ask, but I need you to come."

Kyun sighed. "Alright... where and why?"

Julian took a deep breath of relief and rattled off his address. He was starting to feel a bit selfish, mostly excited to see Kyun again. After awhile, he mentioned, "Hurry, Kyun... I'll tell you what happened when you get here."

Unbelievable.

First the guy breaks him up with Julian, then he goes to Luo - and that prick fucks him? Kyun hated the world at this point, but now he was supposed to go help the guy out. Why? Because he still had hopes with Julian, no matter how annoying it was to be mistrusted like that.

But he couldn't go alone. First of all, calling a cab would probably take too long, and second, he didn't know if someone was waiting for him outside. Heck, it could be at trap at Julian's... so he shook Luo's body exaggeratedly, yelling "Time to save your loverboy!" into the guy's ear.

"Aah!" Luo responded angrily as he twisted quickly onto his back, and made some amusing hand gestures in the direction of his head, then clutched his ear. Kyun couldn't help but chuckle at that.

When the taller Korean was finally awake enough to be explained the issue, they quickly got dressed - including fighting gloves - and ran to the door. The bike trip would mess up Luo's hair, but blatantly breaking speed limits at night usually kept Luo in a good mood anyway.

Pulling up outside Julian's place, they found the front door wide open and all the lights on, but not a sound was to be heard. That brought a chill down Kyun's back, and wasting no further time, they leaped off the bike and ran towards the entrance.

As they reached the house, a soft voice was heard from inside. Only one. Soon after, Julian appeared walking out of one of the rooms, his clothing wet with blood in some places and clinging to his body. As soon as he spotted Kyun, his eyes widened and he broke into a clumsy run, leaping up onto the Korean when he reached him. As soon as he was caught, He placed a grateful kiss on Kyun's cheek. "I'm so glad you came! Rick's really hurt, he's in the living-room!"

Kyun gazed concernedly down at the blood. "Are you okay? Is that your blood?" He stepped aside a bit to let Luo past him, then followed, carrying the purple-haired guy as steadily as he could.

"No, it's mostly his, I think. My head might be bleeding a little, and I've got a bruise on my side, but that's all my own fault." The purple-haired guy ran his fingers through Kyun's hair and his voice dropped to a whisper. "He told me that he was the one who sent those flowers. For some reason it really pissed off my client, and then he attacked Rick. There's no Melissa?"

Swallowing, Kyun tightened his grip around Julian. Even the reference to the lack of faith hurt, but with Rick's testimony... "No, there's no Melissa. Believe me now?" He said as they moved into the living-room.

"Oh fuck." Luo had apparently spotted Rick, and jogged over to a couch, which was one of little furniture still standing in one piece. Floor was covered in debris, and Kyun had to watch his step. The mechanic looked terrible, but was thankfully still conscious. Kneeling down next to him, the spiky-haired youngster brought a hand to his cheek. "Where is he? Who did this?"

"He ran out the back door like two minutes ago. I think his name was... Ramish or... Something like that." Julian carefully climbed off Kyun and turned to face the couch. Still, he made no move to let go of Kyun; just stood there, watching Luo and Rick. "I was going to put him in a car and take him to the hospital, but he can't walk and I can't carry him."

The taller Korean was already on his way out the door before Julian finished speaking. Kyun pulled him along towards the couch, putting a hand on his cheek to make their eyes meet. "I can carry him, but come on, tell me. Do you believe me now?"

At first it almost looked like Julian didn't understand the question. He blinked and after a few long seconds, he nodded. "Yes, I believe you. I'd have to be pretty hard-headed not to after Rick went through all this trouble to tell me you didn't do anything." He offered a weak smile and leaned against Kyun. "I think I rattled my brain a bit when I fell."

Matching the smile for a moment, the Korean leant closer, then parted Julian's lips with his tongue and kissed him intently. He straightened up, looking over Rick with a worried expression. "Do you have a car? Should I take him where we came in?"

"Um... Yeah, I have a car. My garage is in the back yard. Someone else should probably drive it though. I don't think I'm fit for it right now... I'll go find the keys." The purple-haired guy glanced once more at Rick before wandering off out of the room.

The mechanic watched Julian go and then fixed Kyun with a suspicious glare. "He doesn't know, right?" His voice was almost inaudible, but the pain behind it could be easily heard. "I went home and the picture wasn't there anymore. I don't know why the fuck you would steal it, but don't tell him about it."

Kyun narrowed his eyes. "I don't steal stuff, prick!" Why did everyone just assume the worst about him for no reason whatsoever? It was so unfair. He took a deep, calming breath before moving over to the blond. "Look, if I'm going to strain my back carrying you and get your blood on my clothes, I don't want to hear you whining about it, ok? I'll do my best."

"Well who else would have stolen it?" His voice was fading and his eyes were starting to drift closed. "I don't care who stole it. I don't even fucking want it anymore. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of Luo, would ya?"

The Korean didn't want to answer that. Truth was, sure, of course he had a picture of Luo. He still doubted Julian would understand, though, and had no need to see the purple-haired guy jealous. "Who knows, maybe you two could go in a photo box once you're out of hospital." Kyun said silently, then started to push his hands in under the other man.

"You're not strong enough to carry me by yourself." Rick coughed and put a nearly limp hand on Kyun's shoulder. "Don't be rough, I got a fucking broken leg, and God knows what else. That bastard was trying to beat me dead, all because I told Julian that I sent the flowers, not you... Feeling guilty yet?"

"Let me think about that one..." Kyun sighed and withdrew his arms to cross them. "... no. Not at all. After you got Julian to break up with me, I've spent all day with a heartache. When I finally fell asleep, I only got a short nap before I got up in the middle of the night to come help you out. Believe me, guilt is not prevalent right now."

Rick laughed but it trailed off into a pained grunt. The mechanic gazed at the doorway as Julian entered and sneered at the purple-haired guy. "Hey bitch, your heart-broken chink here doesn't realise that I just took a huge risk to help him. Smack some sense into him, will ya?"

"If you weren't already injured, it's you I'd smack. I don't want to hear you call him that ever again." Julian scowled at Rick as he made his way back to Kyun. He nearly tripped over the remains of what might have been a glass sculpture of some sort, but grabbed onto a nearby overturned chair before he could fall. "Wow, I'm incredibly smooth on my feet this morning."

Covering the few steps over to the chair, Kyun wrapped an arm around Julian to pull their bodies together. "He won't let me carry him," he said in a half-annoyed, half-amused voice, "so maybe we have to team up."

"Won't let you?" Julian furrowed his brows as if he were thinking hard about it as he slipped his arms around the Korean's shoulders. He stole a quick kiss and responded jokingly, "Well, I've got a wheelbarrow out back. We could just toss him in there and roll him to the car."

Kyun chuckled. "That would be fun. Wouldn't it, Mr. I'm-not-a-fag-and-not-a-bottom?" He figured Choi couldn't make something like that up, but perhaps he'd get confirmation now. Then he immediately lost interest in the moron on the couch as the kiss finally registered. "You know, this place is a mess and I'm real horny. When we've dropped the idiot off at the hospital, want to come back to our place?"

After taking a moment to nuzzle Kyun's neck, the purple-haired guy gave a playfully soft moan. "Mm-hm, that sounds like a good idea, but I'll have to use your shower then." He paused and then faked a seductive whisper, "but you'd be free to join me, Tiger."

"Christ, do you make a habit of grossing out dying men with this flirting? Take it outside, you fucking sluts." Rick groaned, his voice still quite weak, but the irritation making it fairly louder than before.

Flashing a quick smirk, Kyun brought his lips over Julian's cheek, making soft flickers with his tongue between them. "We could just leave him here for Luo. I'm sure that's what Rick is hoping for." He pulled back a bit, arms still wrapped around his companion. "But I want you to promise me something, Julian..."

Julian frowned at the new distance between them, but it soon turned to an uncertain smile. He ran a hand over Kyun's arm as he gazed over the mess surrounding them. "I can't promise before you tell me. Is it about the flower thing?"

A hand was brought up to have their eyes meet again. Kyun spoke slowly, in a serious, sincere tone. "Next time something weird happens, if that time comes... I want you to talk to me about it, and I want you to believe me. It really sucks when there's so little trust in a relationship."

There seemed to be a lot of thinking going on. It wasn't until it started getting uncomfortable that Julian decided to respond. "Trust is a really difficult thing, but I understand why it is important. I'll go to you if something like that happens again, I promise, and I will believe what you say... But now that I've made that huge commitment, I think you should buy me an ice cream cone today."

Kyun smiled, hugging Julian tightly. He really didn't want to lose his purple-haired companion like that again, and that statement was promising... and funny, so he'd have to respond in kind. "An ice cream cone? That sounds like an important life decision... do you mind if I sleep on that?"

"I'm pretty sure that would make it melt." Julian placed a playful kiss on Kyun's lips and spoke quietly enough into his ear that Rick wouldn't be able to hear. "Then again, getting to lick it off you doesn't sound like a bad idea either. Oh! We should stop somewhere and buy some chocolate syrup or whipped cream after we ditch him at the hospital!"

The chuckle was impossible to hold back. "Seconded!" It felt so great to have Julian back, and now openly eager again just like before. Still, he couldn't help but wonder... "Shit, where's Luo when we need him?" He paused a bit, then sighed. "Think I should call him?"

"I hope he's not in danger. You can use my land-line if you want. I think Rick's sitting on it though." Julian yawned and pulled away to go sit in the reasonably unbroken loveseat next to the couch. "It's awfully early, isn't it? I'd make coffee but we might not be here much longer... Maybe I should call an ambulance?"

Picking up his cell phone, Kyun dialed a number, and they heard a distant ringing approaching. A few seconds later, Luo appeared through the doorway. "I saw the fuckers drive away, but couldn't find them on my bike. Drove around for a bit, but they've run too far by now."

"Too bad." Kyun sighed. "Although now that you're here, you can carry Rick out in the car, so we can get him to the hospital. He won't let me carry him." He cast a glance over at the wounded guy on the couch, a bit unsure about whether to be offended by that. Perhaps the guy was right that he wasn't strong enough, but that was not a thought Kyun wanted to admit anytime soon.

Smiling at Luo, Julian got up and hopped over the coffee table to head out of the room, kissing Kyun as he passed. "Good, everyone is safe now. I'll go unlock the car. It's from my family's business so there's plenty of room to lay him out. Hmm... I should grab a blanket too, maybe." He continued speaking mostly to himself as he disappeared into the hallway.
