The Scourge Of Man

Disclaimer: I do not own names like Puck or the creation of Fairies and what not. The point is I do own The plot of this story, Silvan, Serenity, Lucian( In his human name form) and Kaire. Kristian, Sarai, Veleska ( in both forms ) and Tamin are also mine. In general most of this story and it's plot are mine. The obvious things in it that I do not own, belong to someone else and I am just using them to enhance my story.

Now on with the final Battle.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The demon shot up into the sky in a ball of black hell fire. Red creatures formed from the cloud and shot down at him as he charged. His talons lashed out slicing through each one quickly. He was moving swiftly but not swiftly enough for Silvan’s tastes. Silvan ran further into the clearing. His eyes were cast to the red sky above.

“Serenity!” He couldn’t do anything else but scream. He could hear her screams coming from the concealed red cloud. “Hang on my love!”

“Ahh!” Kaire forced her self to stand up. Her wings weighed her down and caused her to stumble. “Silvan!” She was panting. “Keep talking to her!”

Beelzebub Spun in the air and his large black wings flared. More of the red creatures surrounded him. They were attacking and biting at his feet and hands and wings. He thought them to look like small nymphs. He snarled and slashed claws through them wildly. He was only half way to Serenity!

“Gabrielle!” He finally did it. He called to his brother whom he had murdered many centuries ago. “Help me!” The great Beelzebub asked for help. “For her sake brother!”

Lightning shot across the sky above and down. The bolts hit the creatures attempting to chew through the demons wings. It knocked them away so he could regain control of him self. He shook the rest of them from him with a great slash of his talons. Once again Beelzebub charged straight for the thick red cloud. From above a lightning bolt of silver shot down from the sky. It and the demon man both disappeared into the cloud.

“L...Lucian!” kaire didn’t care who he was. She loved him! Her wings tried to open but she fell down to her knees in pain. “Lucian!”

Silvan ran to her side and helped her up. They were both apparently helpless in this battle. They did not see the demon inside the cloud. Beelzebub was going to slam into body of the Pope Absinthe. Above him, the silver lightning bolt finally turned and revealed it’s self to be Gabrielle. The two brothers charged and crashed into the red eyed pope.

“Ahh!”

Serenity screamed as she was released from the red tendrils that were attempting to crush the shield around her. That staff was keeping her alive inside the red cloud. Her body flew from it, surrounded by the shield. The force of the two brothers slamming into the pope caused a great explosion in the sky. Serenity was falling fast towards the Earth. Beelzebub tried to race for her but he was stopped by the popes attempts. This pope was strong and their little crash into him only caused him to loose his grip on Serenity.

“You will both watch her fall and die! You have helped for nothing! The power of the church is supreme!” Absinthe yelled as his Tendrils latched on to Gabrielle and More wrapped around Beelzebub. Serenity screamed for she saw the ground coming ever closer. Silvan ran to try and catch her but it would still kill them both from the force of the fall.

“Huh?” Serenity blinked. “What?” She was floating in mid air? No, she was in kaire’s arms. She gasped looking at kaire. She was now glowing a very beautiful white. “K..Kaire? Y..you’re..flying.”

“Yes and I think this is the easy part. It is going to be that sudden stop when we hit the ground that I am worried about.” Kaire smiled as Serenity cringed and grabbed onto her tightly. She couldn’t help but to chuckle.”Just kidding.”

Above the battle continued. Gabrielle was trying to cut him self free from the spirit draining Tendrils this pope was latching around them. He screamed in pain as another grabbed around his wrist. His demon brother snarled and slashed his way through the mass of red. He cut his brother loose and was wrapped into the mass of tendrils instead. Gabrielle flew back from Beelzebub’s shove. Silvan glanced from this to Serenity and back to the two. He wanted to help!

“Lucian!” He tried to call to him. “Lucian! Use your sword!”

“Brother!” Gabrielle charged and sliced his great white sword through the mass of tentacles holding the demons hands. “Is that who I think it is!?”

“Y..Yes!” Beelzebub panted and tore another arm free. “He is our kin! He is the one that can combine the swords!”

“No!” The pope yelled and tried to send more creatures but fighting these two were already straining his powers. “You will not win!”

“Take it Brother! I will distract him!” Beelzebub thrashed and suddenly flew into pope knocking him back. His sword was thrown back into Gabrielle’s hands. Gabrielle panted. He didn’t want to leave his brother like this. “Go!”

“I can’t! He will Kill you!”

“Then I will Redeem my self for having killed you!” Beelzebub snarled and slammed his claws into the chest of the pope. The screamed and tried to dislodge the demon from him. “Go brother!”

Gabrielle reluctantly flew downwards towards Silvan. The king jumped back as the crashing angel landed hard into the ground His wings were broken in half. Silvan ran to him and knelt down to try and help him up. He was met with the stunning eyes of Gabrielle who thrust the two swords into his hands.

“End our curse.” He trembled. Gabrielle’s body slumped over. “Please brother.”

Silvan stumbled back. The two swords glowed to life in his hands. One blade of black and one blade of white started to combine into one large sword, the sword of destiny. Lucian, from above screamed. His body was thrown back into the air. His wings had been ripped from his body and he was falling fast to the Earth.

“Lucian!” Kaire looked up at the sky. “No!”

Her feet touched the ground. Serenity grunted and fell from her arms. The Pope growled from above and went to charge the two women now that he was free. He had to stop the prophecy from happening. Silvan, without thinking, ran towards them. The sword was drawn high above his head. He didn’t hear the crashing demon’s body hit. Silvan screamed in rage.

Gabrielle crawled over to his broken brother. He groaned in pain when he pulled the barely conscious demon towards him.

“Brother. I forgive you.” Tears fell down the arch angels cheek and onto Beelzebub. “I forgive you Lucian!”

As he screamed this, the sword in Silvan’s hand started to shine an even more brilliant white. He leapt into the air and great angelic wings of silver burst from his back, carrying him upwards. His armor of platinum white gleamed in the sun. The pope tried to stop him self from his long charge down. He sent tendrils to try and rip the sword away from Silvan. The angelic king slashed through them and screamed.

“You shall never hurt another soul again!”

He yelled it and his eyes of silver now glowed the same white. The blade cut through the red eyed pope, slicing him in half. A shower of black and red erupted from the falling body. Silvan panted and floated there in the sky. The black and red was forming into a cloud in front of him. Serenity didn’t know who to go to. Her husband had wings? She gasped seeing Lucian’s human form slumped over and dead underneath Gabrielle. Quickly she and Kaire ran to them.

“Lucian!” Kaire slid to a stop and got to her knees crawling over. “Lucian no! Don’t die!”

kaire started to hit Lucian’s chest. Gabrielle was pulled back into Serenity’s arms. She was crying for the dead arch angel and also looking up at her husband.

“No!” Silvan charged the creature that tried to come from the cloud of red and black. His blade sunk deep into the chest of this large creature. “Never again! I will not let you hurt anyone else!”

The creature howled back in pain. Silvan yelped and suddenly fell to the ground. His blade wasn’t stabbing into the chest of the creature anymore. The cloud of red and black was disappearing. He landed to the ground in a crouch with his white wings still flared out behind him. The cries of Serenity and Kaire pulled his attention from the sky to the girls and two fallen angels. The sword was sheathed at his side and he walked over towards them quickly.

“Lucian!” Kaire’s eyes were reddened. She shook the dead body of the demon man. “Please love!”

“Kaire?” Serenity looked to her. “I..”

“No! I won’t let him die!” Kaire didn’t want to hear I’m sorry from anyone!”Lucian!!”

Serenity looked to the angel in her lap. She brushed hairs away from his cheeks. Her tears were falling quickly over them. Silvan knelt down behind his wife. His hands were on her shoulders. A sound from the sky caught their attentions. It sounded like a giant explosion.

“Not another one.” Serenity panted. “We can’t fight another one.”

The popes staff, the staff of ages, appeared in the sky and was floating down from the sky. It’s end touched down to a small, ring sized box that formed now from the black and red wisps of smoke that were left over. The bodies of Gabrielle and Beelzebub also disappeared when it touched to the ground.

“No!” kaire was frantic. She started digging away at the grass. “Lucian!”

Kaire’s actions could not pull Serenity’s gaze away from the staff and golden box. Both she and Silvan were open jawed.

“Close the box Serenity. Close the box that your kin opened so many centuries ago.” The voice sounded so heavenly that even Kaire paused to look up. “Close and lock away the scourge of man.”

Gabrielle’s form stepped through a cloud of silver. Beside him was Lucian, his brother. Kaire started to cry when she saw her love alive. She was already pouncing him into the world’s largest hug as a matter of fact. Serenity looked from all of them to the box. It called to her some how. She felt a connection to the small, golden thing. She was scared. Silvan nodded to her. He could see that she was afraid and wanted to help her.

“It is okay love.” Silvan helped to pull her to her feet. “You can do this.”

“I..My kin?” she stumbled forward to the golden box. It levitated it’s self into the air before her. Serenity panted and looked up at Lucan and Gabrielle. The both nodded to her. “Close..the box.” Serenity whispered. All eyes were on her now and all were silent. “The box that my kin opened centuries ago.” She said it as if she was trying to convince her self.

Her hand reached forward. Her finger tips slid across the golden embossed box. She pushed and the lid slammed down, locking away the deadly sins once again. The world stood still for that moment. Each and every person raised their eyes to the heavens. The song of a thousand angels filled their ears. They saw the gates between worlds open once again and they would all become a free man kind once more.

“Serenity?” Silvan let his hands rub over the large, rounded stomach of his wife. “Are you alright?”

“Yes.” She smiled and looked up from her note book. “I’m fine.”

“You’re crying my love.”

“I’m just remembering.” She kissed her husbands lips. “That’s all.”

“And what are you remembering?” He chuckled and pulled her into his lap. “What fantastic tale have you written now?”

She hugged up against him and sighed. Serenity closed her journal, which had a man and woman on it. The man had great wings of black and he carried a woman with white wings in his arms. They stood together under a full moon.

“Something that feels like a distant memory.” Her cheek rested against his shoulder. “You know how I dream.”

“Yes I do love. That is one of the reasons I fell in love with you. When I saw you in that gaming shop in town I almost tripped over my self.” Silvan chuckled. “You’re smile stole my heart.”

“And you stole mine.”

“I think it was something mutual between us.” He kissed her deeply. His hands massaged over her very pregnant tummy. “So can I persuade you from your stories to come to bed tonight?”

“I think you can.” She grinned. Serenity traced a finger along his pale cheek. “If you promise to make sweet love to me.”

“I already planned to do that.”

Silvan stood with his wife in his arms. He carried her away from her writing desk and to the stairs of their apartment. Serenity giggled and wrapped her arms around him tighter.

“Well I have no complaints.” She whispered. “Take me to bed lover.”

“Your wish is my desire.”

The door closed behind her and Silvan. The white apartment door had white, chipped paint on it but they got this place for a steal. It over looked the mountain valley’s lake. You could see the sun rise over the pristine hills if you stood on the balcony. It was perfect for them and their growing family inside her stomach.

Silvan and Serenity Demetrious, they were the talk of the town. Her father even came back to see her wedding. Her mother and he actually started to talk again. His years of abusive behavior didn’t seem to be important now. Serenity was glad about this. She loved her parents very much. She loved her Silvan even more. Yes, they were truly perfect for one another and now they would have twins but that is another story for another time and place.

The pointed ears of a puck, in the guise of a bard, rose high and he turned to face all the children that were gathered around him. He was telling this tale under a large oak tree in the meadow. “And thus ends the tale of Serenity and Silvan. Two destined lovers, met and fought the battle of a life time, all for the closing of a box. Their lives were changed and all is now and forever a distant memory.”

“What about Lucian and Kaire?” A child’s voice spoke up. “What happened to them? What happened to Gabrielle?”

All of the children chimed in with this enquiry. The bard chuckled and shifted his green tunic. His hands smoothed over the soft leather.

“Lucian and Kaire lived on children. They to joined the world of man and lived together as man and wife. In fact, that following morning the two went to McBride’s gaming shop.” The Bard smiled.

“ Why did they go there?” A little girl asked. “Did they play games?”

“They went there to meet their two best friends in the world children. They wanted to introduce Silvan and Serenity to their new born twins Lucas and Gabriella. As for the arch angel Gabrielle? He is always watching over his brother and the world of man.”

The children all gasped. One little girl was even crying. The bard stood and bowed to the children. His friendly smile passed over each and every one of them. They clapped loudly for him. They loved to hear this bards tales.

“Now Run along home children. The evening draws near. Open your windows. Open your hearts and let your dreams soar. The hour of Fairies is near.” He bowed deeply to them. “Tis puck the bard wishing you all fare well until the next chapter of man ends and begins.”

The children all ran away laughing and talking about the story they just heard. Puck turns and faces you now. His eyes sparkle with curiosity and he taps his finger against your computer screen.

“May your heart always believe in the impossible and may dreams of children carry you away on silver streams. Tis puck again, bidding you, the reader, fare well for now.”

His image fades from your sight. Only the remnants of his magic is left behind for you all to see and believe. All is not what it seems and all is often never what it appears. Such is the story of men.
