The Blood Of Three Kings

The Chimere creature charged......

The ground beneath them shook horribly. Kaire was thrown back into the hedge rows. Serenity was knocked against Silvan and they both were thrown to the opposite side of the creature with the force of the charge. Lucian was swept up into the dragons mouth and swallowed. He didn’t have time to jump and avoid it!

“Lucian no!” Kaire threw three consecutive black bolts of charged energy at the creature as she stumbled from the bushes. “Lucian!!” Tears stained the maiden’s silver eyes. “No!”

The creature snarled and whipped it’s self around to face the lone Kaire. She didn’t care if it ate her now. That thing ate Lucian! Why didn’t he try damn it!? Silvan grunted and pushed him self up. He charged to the beast’s side with his sword draw. His blade sunk deep in between the first and second rib of the Chimera whilst it was distracted . He used it like a step and propelled him self up onto the back of the animal.

Kaire let three more bolts fire from her hands. She didn’t back down from the creature. She was crying and very upset. Serenity gasped as a the serpent’s head lashed out and towards Kaire. Her bolts were being easily deflected off of this animal. Just when the head hit, it hissed back in pain. Serenity was beside Kaire panting. Her staff’s shield was up and formed into a sphere around them. The hit struck so hard however, that they were impacted into the ground. The other heads were quickly pounding at the shield. They didn’t even seem to notice Silvan.

“Go away!”

Kaire was screaming. The drool of the animals was dripping down over the shield of the staff as they attacked it. Serenity was panting and concentrating too hard on trying to keep the shield strong around them. They would be buried into the ground if something didn’t happen quickly.

“Hold on!” Silvan yelled to the girls as he ripped the sword from the creatures side. “Serenity stay strong!”

“I don’t think she can hear you right now!”

Kaire yelled for Serenity. She grunted inwardly because just knew they were dead. This would be the shortest battle in history. Silvan couldn’t let his wife or Kaire be buried. The creature's dragon head swept behind to try and snap at Silvan. He leapt up in time to deflect the biting jaws of the dragon onto the neck of the serpent. They bit the snakes head clear off with their single snap.

The Creature roared back in pain. Silvan leapt up again and slid down the neck of the large dragon to run across the creatures back. Enraged, it forgot about Kaire and Serenity. The body of the Chimera reared up and wheeled around. It started to buck madly. Silvan slammed the blade into the creature’s body and held on for his life. The girls panted and Serenity gasped in horror as the Chimera started to sprout black wings of shadow. Silvan yelled and dug his sword in deeper. He was attempting to cut open the creature’s body to get to Lucian.

“Silvan look out!”

Serenity pushed her self up from the huge indent that the shield made into the ground. Kaire helped to pull her up. Silvan was air born before the girls could climb completely out of the large hole. The creature roared as the pain of Silvan’s sword dug in. The blood that dripped down from where the serpent’s head was, sizzled and burned the ground where it landed. Again Serenity’s shield had to form over them just to keep the raining droplets of acid blood from hitting them.

“Get away!” Serenity yelled.

Silvan meanwhile was dancing on the creatures back so to speak. The heads bent and bit back. Each one whirled around to opposite sides of Silvan. The nimble king left his sword imbedded into the Chimera’s back and jumped over and up on the dragons neck, just behind the ear flaps. The lion head roared and tried to slash it’s great claw up. Silvan used it to his advantage and slid down the neck again just in time to see the claw gashing into the dragon’s cheek. More of the acid blood started to rain down.

Kaire pulled and ran with Serenity to try and avoid the splash down of blood. The shield could only take so much before it weakened. Silvan was greatful for Kaire’s help in keeping Serenity safe. He would have to thank her later. Right now he was playing tag with the remaining heads of this animal and they were not happy with him. The Chimera bucked it’s self in the air again. Silvan dropped down to his sword just before it did a loop upside down in the air.

“Stay still you stupid beast!”

Silvan grunted and twisted the sword in just so it wouldn’t slip away. Kaire watched the aerial battle panting. Lucian was still in that thing’s stomach! Serenity watched Kaire and Silvan. She backed away panting. Kaire was glowing very strangely. Silvan jumped and rolled back on the animal’s back as yet another snap came down. The two heads were starting to battle for control. Silvan rolled right down to the end of the tail where the other serpent’s head hissed and tried to bite.

“Ah!”

He swung him self up and slammed the Tail serpent’s fangs into the bum of the Chimera. His did a nimble foot dance around a dragon snout and leapt over the main lion’s head to get back to his sword. Kaire from below finally screamed.

“Lucian!!”

The energy shot off her into a very large, black lightning bolt. ALL of the heads paused in mid air. Even silvan did. He was holding on to the hilt of his sword for dear life at the time. His eyes went wide and he scrambled. Silvan pulled his sword and leapt off the back of the swaying creature. Yeah this drop was going to hurt him and he knew it but that bolt was gonna hurt a hell of a lot more.

“Kaire!”

Serenity lunged at her and knocked her from the path of a large droplet of acid blood. Kaire gasped and feinted into Serenity’s arms. She had never used such amounts of that kind of power before. Above they heard the creature howl in pain as the bolt hit. The black fires started to consume the animal with in it. Silvan tucked and rolled to the ground with a pained grunt. He fell backwards panting and looking to the sky at the black flaming ball that was coming right towards them.

“This..might hurt a little.” He groaned and forced him self up. His feet scrambled again and he was running right towards Serenity, who was struggling to pull Kaire and her self to the hole that the creature helped make with them!

“Get in! I can form a shield over the top!”

Serenity ackd and was pushed into hole. Her husband leapt and flew right at her and Kaire. The shield went up and over the hole just in time to be covered in burning black flames. Silvan, Serenity and Kaire were all at the bottom of this very large whole on their backs.

“That was..unexpected.”

Serenity was referring to the use of Kaire’s magic. The flames died away and the charred body of the creature rolled away from the shield. Silvan helped Serenity to her feet and shook his head.

“That’s an understatement.”

Silvan’s voice was rasp and sounded very tired. Serenity suddenly hugged him tightly and cried into his chest. He fell backwards again with her on top of him. He groaned silently in pain as his back hit the ground.

“Lucian..got..g..got..” Serenity was upset about this. “That thing ate him!”

“Come on. Lets get kaire and try and climb out of this crater.” Silvan kissed her softly. “Alright? Maybe we can salvage something to bury at least.”

“Alright.” Serenity didn’t even like that idea but no normal person could have survived that.”You will have to carry her. I don’t think she is going to wake up.”

“Probably not.”

Silvan was hurting. He knew it was going to hurt worse when he picked her up but he had to try. Serenity kissed him before rolling off of him. Silvan smiled and got to his feet. The smile was just to mask the actual pain that his body was going through right now. He had crash landed to the ground from above and well he was pretty scraped up.

“Help me pull her up love.”

Silvan leaned over and pulled Kaire up. Serenity tried her best to help him but they were both pretty exhausted and beat up right now. The heard a grunt and yell from above. Quickly, Silvan and Serenity did their best to climb from the hole so they could see who was doing it. They thought it sounded like Lucian but there was no way he could have survived that could he?

“Stupid Creature!” Lucian yelled. It was him! “Stupid holy wards inside the stupid creature! Can’t get a spell in edge wise in there!” His foot kicked into the things side with a sickening thud. Blackened blood oozed onto his boot and he shook his head. “Yeah I should have figured that would happen.”

His hands finished ripping through the charred skin and blood of the animal. He saw Silvan and Serenity coming from the hole as he stomped his way out of the creature. The acid blood wasn’t even burning him! Their eyes were wide as they both looked at him. How in the world could he be alive after that? Silvan set Kaire down gently and looked back at Lucian.

“Well now. “ Lucian looked over every one. “We’re all alive. That’s a good thing. So lets get our selves healed up and try a new strategy shall we?”

He walked over, as if nothing happened. He had energy to spare. Lucian picked Kaire up into his arms and chuckled. Silvan and Serenity both looked at him and then at one another in a bewildered fashion. This man got weirder and weirder. They couldn’t understand how he walked away from that to begin with.

“Well come on! Don’t just stare at each other. Lets re-group and try this another way.” Lucian was walking away from the area. The spell that froze the area initially was wearing off now too. “Come on before people see us.”

“Think he will explain this to us?” Serenity spoke softly as she stepped off to follow him. “soon?”

“Doubt it.” Silvan held her hand. “I seriously doubt it love.”

Silvan said as they followed Lucian now. Serenity shrugged and had to agree. Lucian didn’t ever explain much of anything to them anyways. This situation would most likely not be any different. Kaire was still passed out in his arms to ask him anything her self. The two chalked it up to yet another one of his mysteries.

“Hey love?”

“Yes Serenity?”

“Did he say that Stupid holy wards kept him from using spells when he was coming out of the body? Which by all rights he should have never walked away from, but I don’t think that is the point right now.”

“You know I think he did.” Silvan blinked. “Why would a holy ward stop anyone from using magic?”

“I have no idea.” Serenity looked at the back of Lucian. “I have a funny feeling that by the time all of this is over though, we will find out.”

“Wether we want to or not.” Silvan added in quickly. He had a sinking feeling that the creature they just fought wasn’t even the worst of their troubles. “Anyways, we better hurry and catch up before he leaves us.”

The two started to jog a little to catch up to Lucian. He was leading them well away from the vicinity of the Vatican. They both hoped he had some kind of plan in mind because they were both now officially out of ideas.

“Hey wait up Lucian?” Silvan stammered. He had to ask. “How in the Hell did you just survive all of that and! Walk away with your clothes in perfect condition. Well other then your boot that is.”

As he turned and smiled widely, Lucian’s eyes sparkled with mirth. “Brother, you said a mouthful.” Lucian winked at the two. “Now come on. We have some re thinking to do.” He stepped off again. He was too chipper in Serenity’s opinion.

“What did he mean by that?” Silvan gave Serenity an inquisitive look. “Hm love?”

“Uh..” Serenity paused. “You know. Why do you always ask me? Like I know? You know as much as I do.” She grunted in frustration. “Lets go. Mr. Cheery pants is leading us somewhere.”

The two followed even more confused then they ever had been. Silvan made a mental note to never ask Lucian anything again because he never answered anything! He always gave them a damned riddle instead.
