Chapter 22
Hey guys. This was a double post, so if you\'re just checking back go back and read Chapter 21 first. Hope you like the story. Please review!
Chapter 22
I had been ready to go into a full fledged explanation of what happened, how we had ended up together. I wanted to tell him how he felt about me and why I had agreed to be with him. I had meant to explain everything, but it didn\'t happen.
My parents came home from dinner soon after I told Ren. They came in together and my dad helped my mom take her jacket off. Ren had been staring at me accusingly. Finally I shook my head and went upstairs, without saying a word to my parents.
I sat on my bed with my cat clawing at me, wanting to be held. I ignored her and stared at my open cell phone. Should I call him? Should I say that this isn\'t what I want? I didn\'t know what to do. I was confused. It\'s not like I could just tell anyone this problem and expect them to give advice. I don\'t know why I told Ren. I was stupid. I knew how Logan was though. He\'d probably stay up all night waiting for me to call. So finally I took the number out of the pocket of the jacket and dialed.
"Hello? Raven?"
"Yes, it\'s me," I replied, softly, hoping I had no eavesdroppers tonight.
He was silent for a moment, “Did you call to break up before we\'ve even begun dating?"
I was kind of shocked by the news. I was dating a guy. What had I gotten myself into?
"No...I just...I wasn’t expecting you to call me at home. I—we need to talk about this, Logan," I said.
I unconsciously ran a hand over Oreo\'s soft fur and she relaxed against me.
"Listen, Rave. I never meant to push you into this. If you aren\'t comfortable with it...then we don\'t have to."
I had laughed dryly and regretted it.
"I\'m just so damn confused! I don\'t know what I want! How am I supposed to tell my family? This...this isn\'t normal! But I want...I want...I want something. I just don\'t know what," I said desperately.
"Love?"
The question had been so soft, I barely heard him. I clutched my silver phone tightly and managed to choke out, "Yes."
"Well, that\'s what I want to, Rave. You\'re not alone, trust me."
Trust him.
"I don\'t know if this will work," I whispered.
"We can make it work," He replied and I noticed his voice was a little higher than normal, “I’m willing to do anything to make it work."
He had fallen so hard for me. But it was me... it was just me!
"We can\'t let people know though."
"I think you should tell your family...at least," He said firmly.
"They\'re the ones I\'m the most concerned about though. I mean, it\'s others too, but mostly them!" I said.
"Because of your brother?" He asked gently.
"Yeah."
"I can help you," He said suddenly, "I\'ll help you through this."
"Logan...this is so weird," I said.
"All or nothing, Rave. I just want you," Logan said.
"Okay," I said in a low voice, “I just...can we go slowly?"
"Of course," He responded.
"I\'ll see you tomorrow then, I guess," I said, gladly ending the conversation.
"Goodnight then."
"Goodnight."
I pushed end on my phone and crawled into bed. I stared out my window at the bright stars in the dark night sky. Was this what I wanted? Was this the right thing? I sighed, pulling the blanket up further and closed my eyes. I hope so.
The following morning I got ready to go to school as usual. All my brothers acted like they normally acted around me. Rhea was unbelievably hyper. I don\'t where his energy came from. Robin was a little timid around me as usual. Ren tried to avoid me whenever possible. That was the only thing out of place. I didn\'t know if Rhea or Robin noticed and I sure hoped not.
I remember sitting in Anatomy that day. I could feel Logan\'s gaze from behind me. I hadn\'t said anything to him since I entered the room and the lesson began. What was I supposed to say? I had never done this before. I didn\'t want people to think we were together.
After the class I had tried to get out of the room quickly, but I felt Logan grab my elbow and steer me towards a small alcove inside the building.
"What are you doing? You completely ignored me all hour!" He said a bit roughly.
"I don\'t want people to think anything is going on between us," I whispered, pulling my arm away from him and crossing them across my chest.
"When you don\'t talk to me at all, then they will think something’s up!" He said.
"I just don\'t want people to get the wrong idea," I explained.
"There is no wrong idea, Rave. Like I said before - if you aren\'t comfortable with it then-"
"Logan I stayed up late last night trying to think this over, ya know? Well, I know I haven\'t acted very civil towards you, but I think...I think I like you, too. And I do want to be with you, but how can we possibly have a relationship under these circumstances?"
I stared into his gentle brown eyes. He looked down a moment and I felt him take a hold of my left hand. He squeezed it and smiled at me.
"This is a normal relationship, Rave. You\'re the only one who has a problem with it," He said with a slight smile, “Good to hear you say that though."
"Say what?"
"That you like me," He said.
I just sort of shrugged and he chuckled, “Rave, we don\'t have to be really obvious about our relationship, but when you\'re with me can you at least act like we\'re friends. You\'re just being so strange about it."
"Okay," I said with a nod, “I\'ll try."
He put his arm around my back and let it drop when we were back in public, “Let\'s go eat."
