Shai's Shattered Heart
Amatsu’s car pulled up in front of the Oshidori residence, Fuji looking out the window from her place in the front seat. “Thank you for bringing me here,” she told him softly. “I need to be with Shai tonight, even though I would rather be with you.”
Amatsu hid his smile and instead went for intelligently obstinate. “We need to talk about what we are going to do before we have another wild night of passion, anyway,” Amatsu pointed out. “You are still underage, and me pulling you into the backseat of my car to make passionate love to you is wrong, so very wrong.”
Fuji laughed and turned to face her boyfriend, because if anything he certainly was her boyfriend again. “I wonder what you have been thinking about,” she joked with him.
Amatsu smiled and kept his mouth shut about that, though both knew it was exactly what was on his mind. He may have been in love with her, and he may even respect her more than he may even respect any other woman he has been with, but it had still been about a month since he had been laid, and seeing Fuji in that short outfit was tantalizing. Tantalizing in the best of ways, but still just so.
“Good night, Fuji,” Amatsu smiled, leaning over and giving his girl a quick kiss on the cheek. “Go inside before I make you stay.”
Fuji smiled and bid him good night before rushing towards the house. She placed her hand on the knob and found it unlocked. Mother Oshidori must have left it unlocked for her daughter and their friends. Fuji was quite surprised to see that Mother Oshidori still allowed her daughter to go out at night. Perhaps it did not prove anything by locking them away, and Kaori seemed to be a different person now that Nakago was gone.
Fuji went into Yuki’s room and found Shai and Yuki wrapped around each other in the bed, both of them fast asleep. Fuji smiled and changed into the cotton nightgown she had worn. She crawled into the bed with her best friends and curled up with them, offering Shai her warmth. Fuji’s broken heart was mending, but Shai’s had completely shattered.
“Are you sure you want to go to tennis practice today?” Yuki asked her best friend Monday afternoon. Fuji and Yuki watched Shai curiously. The girl had not recovered and well and still looked as if she had been broken by the words. It made both girls worry that Shai’s heart was in this more than just her hormones.
“I have to go,” Shai said. No one was sure if she truly believed it or not.
“Do you want us to wait for you?” Yuki asked. “We will wait.”
Shai shook her head. “No, it’s all right, this is something I have to do on my own,” she explained. “Yuki, you promised Kago you two would spend time together at his house, and Fuji I know you are dying to talk to Amatsu.”
“But you are more important,” both girls told their smaller friend.
Shai shook her head again determinedly. “It’s all right,” she reassured them. “I am doing the right thing.”
With a flourish, Shai waved her hand and ran off towards the tennis court and towards her destiny.
Mr. Tennison did his best to ignore Shai’s constant fumbles on the court that afternoon. He watched her mess up, and slip, and miss the easy passes that Raquel was offering her. Her racket bent and snapped the old worthless thing now in ruins. She had to be loaned one of the school’s tennis rackets, which didn’t fit her hands the way hers had. In the end, she just gave up trying and watched the other girls.
Raquel often asked her if she was feeling all right. Shai just nodded and said everything was fine. Shai just wanted practice to end so she could go about the rest of her day not thinking about how Mr. Tennison had betrayed her very soul.
After practice Mr. Tennison called Shai back, asking her to stay behind. She hesitated, but he was still a teacher. To start disobeying him now would only raise questions. She watched her teammates go off into the locker rooms without her, Raquel passing her a concerned glance. Shai waved it off and turned to her tennis coach.
“Shai, let me explain what happened,” Mr. Tennison began. Shai turned her face up to his expectantly, perhaps hoping that whatever he said would make it all better. “I am not in love with Noriko Chenbaro,” he assured her. She bit her lip. It actually did not make her feel any better at all so far. “I am marrying her for her money, nothing more.”
“But Mrs. Chenbaro told Fuji and I that she was in need of money and that is why she is marrying you,” Shai argued, taking a step back from him as he took a step forward, reaching out towards her.
“I’m a teacher,” he explained to her, as if that was answer enough. His hands fell down at his sides and he just let out a sigh, not knowing what else to say to make her see. “I do not make that much. I live in a crummy apartment above a bunch of college kids. Do I look like I am some raging rich guy who can whisk a person like Noriko Chenbaro away?”
Shai’s hands went to her hips and for a moment she remembered her mother standing before her father, yelling at him with her hands on her hips, and yet looking so calm at the same moment. Shai could only wish she had her mother’s strength.
“Why would Mrs. Chenbaro want to marry you if not for love, then?” Shai asked.
“I never said she didn’t love me,” Mr. Tennison admitted. “I’ve been seeing her for a while. I’ve been wooing her. I need her money, Shai, that’s all it is.”
“That’s horrid!” Shai screamed. She took another few steps back as he tried to catch her. “No, you are horrible, doing that to Fuji’s mother. I’ll tell Fuji, she’ll tell her mother!”
Mr. Tennison smiled smugly. “Do you think Mrs. Chenbaro is going to listen to her daughter? They barely get along on a good day.”
“You were using me,” Shai cried, tears stinging behind her eyes once more. She had to close her eyes to the world, feeling the water back up behind her lids. It became too much and the tears began to stream down her face. “You didn’t love me, you just…”
Mr. Tennison reached out to Shai and brought her into the circle of his arms. If he gave her honesty it would only break her more, so instead he would go for a lie. “Shai,” he said softly, “I want you in my life.” He brought his lips down to hers, kissing her through her tears. “After I marry Mrs. Chenbaro I will have enough money to escape, and you and I can run away together. She’s not signing a prenuptial; I can get all I want out of her if I fight hard enough.”
Shai gazed at him, horrified and yet still her heart beat for him. She wanted to be with this man, there was no one else that meant so much to her. He backed her up and pulled her into his office. She gave in too easily, letting him push his cock inside of her, feeling the wetness of her small fragile body underneath his. This was what he wanted. He would marry Noriko for money, and fuck Shai for the absolute exhilaration of being with someone he had complete control over, someone so beautiful and fragile that belonged to him. He pushed inside of her, deeper and deeper until he was coming all over her, and she let him abuse her. She could not deny him what he asked.
She left school that evening feeling more miserable than she had gone in feeling.
