Chapter 20


Raven sighed as he leaned back in his chair at the cafe he had asked Miki to meet him at to talk. A cup of tea was cooling infront of him as he flipped open his phone to look at the time. Miki steps into the cafe wearing a hoodie sweater and jeans. She couldn't help feeling an overwhelming depression that she had never felt before. Clayton had said the mark was making her feel like this. She walked over and sat across from him. "Hi."

"Hey..."

He ordered her a cup of coffee and small plate of cookies. Once they arrived he took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Alright...I guess should start at the begining..."

Miki nibbles on one of the cookies as her hand seeks out his hand. Once her hand touched his her depression seemed to slide off her like a blanket. She looked at him. "Yea... thats normally a good place to start."

He smiled gently at her as he took her hand and gave it a squeeze. "Have you ever been in a relationship with someone who you thought was perfect, then after so long they show their true colors? That's basicly what happened in my past three relationships...It started when I was 15. Rudy was the first. It happened one day, in her room. We didn't know her parents had come home until they herd us and came into her room. As soon as she saw them, she started screaming I was rapping her. She told me later she didn't really care about me and just needed 'release.' Clair...Was a complete mistake. I thought she was sweet and kind, but as the days went by, she became more possessive and violent. If I couldn't meet her somewhere, she'd flip out completely. "I'm sure in time, they'll learn to like you. They'll eventually see what a sweetheart you are. But oh?" He smirked and cocked and eyebrow. "How do you intend on doing that? Those two have been fighting ever since I could remember."

Miki giggles. "Just tell me one thing... your parents and you dont have an adversion to hot food right?"

"Hm?" He blinked and thought for a moment. "No, I don't believe so."

Miki smiles brightly. "This will be fun. Would it be ok if we go back to your house tonight? I kinda want to say sorry to your parents for getting out of hand?"

He nodded and took a long sip of his tea. "Of course. I talked them down and explained everything to them, so they should be civial with you atleast from now on."

Miki smiles and takes a sip of her coffee as she looked at him. "When i got home my brother Clayton got me talking... he was about a hairs breath from finding you and castrating you." She laces her fingers with his.

Raven chocked on his tea and cleared his throat. "I'm glad you weren't mad enough to sick him on me." He gently stroked her hand with his thumb after giving her hand another squeeze.

Miki smiles slightly. "I am very sorry for how i acted earlier."

His mother nods slowly. "And i should apologize as well for how i reacted. You defenatly aren't like those other girls."

Miki smiles. "Yea... none of them could hold a candle to me."

His mother giggles slightly. "Well i am Carolina. Come in." She steps back as Miki steps into the manor. Raven smiled broadly. He knew his mother could be gentle and sweet when she wasn't being a mother bear. He followed them into the house and closed the door.

His father was hovering at the top of the stares. Keeping a fair good length away from Carolina. "Ah, Mickila. I see you've decided to venture back to the house of insanity. We're happy to have you. I am Trent." Trent smiled as he walked down the stares.

Miki smiles. "Please call me Miki. Mickila is a mouthful. And im happy to be here."

Carolina keeps her back to Trent as she looks at Miki. "Well would you like to stay for dinner?"

Miki smiles. "I would love to. Um would it be bad if i asked if i could make you all a meal?"

Carolina blinks then smiles. "That sounds lovely."

"Why thank you, Miki. That's very kind of you." Trent folded his arms as he walked over and stood next to Raven. They were practicly twins, if it wasn't for the fact their eyes were differnt and Trent was a few inches taller then Raven. He completly ignored Carolina. "Would you need anything inparticulare? If we don't have certain ingrediants, I'd be happy to go and pick up what you'd need." Miki smiles and nods. Carolina leads Miki to the kitchen letting the female werewolf look around the kitchen.

Quickly Miki makes a mental list of everything she needs. She walked over to Trent. "Alright... im ready." She turns to Raven and kisses his cheek.

Raven smiled and returned the kiss to her cheek. Hugging her tightly. "I'll stay here. Dad'll take care of you."

"She's in safe hands, kid." He winked at Raven before grabbign the keys to his car and leading Miki to the car in the garage.

Miki follows as she climbs into the car. "So... Raven said you and Carolina fight a lot. How come?"

Trent's ears slightly drooped as turned on the car and backed out of the drive way. "That's a long and complicated story..."

She smiles. "We've got time."

He let out a sigh as they drove. "We didn't always used to be like that...We used to love eachother. We still love each other. Things just... Spiraled out of control. Carolina wants to be a vampire as well. She wants me to turn her, so we can live together for eternaty." He sighed. "But she doesn't understand what could happen. I could easily lose control and kill her. I'd lose her forever if that happened... I guess because I don't want to risk it, she gets it stuck in her head I'm cheating on her. Running off with other vampire women in the middle of the night when I need to feed." He parked the car at the market. "We both have a bit of a temper, so when one of us can't take anymore, we throw things, then the other throws things back."

Miki nods. "I see why she would think that. So i can guess you two haven't mated because of this right?"

Trent nodded. "Since she isn't a vampire, it's just as dangerous matting with her."

She smiles slightly. "Raven was kinda afraid of me. Though i understand why." She walks inside the market. "Werewolves are rather... violent." She looks at him. "But you do love her right?"

He grabbed a cart and followed Miki. Just letting her pick out what she needed as he nodded. "Yeah. Alot."

Miki giggles and puts in a very nice side of pork, the fixens for a barbeque sause and when he was out of sight she grabbed two habenero peppers. She put it into the cart and looked at him. "So... was the sex good?"

If Trent had a drink, he would've spit it out and chocked on it. "I... I don't think that's appropriate to discuss with my son's girlfriend."

She giggles. "Come on one's sex life isnt something to be embarressed about. It's a part of life. Besides if the sex was good then why would you have a reason to cheat?"

He blushed heavily and looked down at the items in the cart. Muttering his words. "It's kinda been a while..."

Miki giggles and bumped her hip against his. "Dont worry that might change pretty soon." She finishes picking out the stuff before going to the hardware isle and pickin up a pair of blue latex gloves.

Trent blushed heavily and arched a brow at Miki before looking back at the cart. "Just what exactly are you making for us tonight, Miki?"

She smiles. "Something special. And really the only thing i can cook other than breakfast." She takes the cart to check out and puts them on the belt. "Hmmm." He helped her load the belt with the food. Paying for everything with a credit card before he put the bags back in the cart and walked back to the cart. Miki followed him and stepped into the car. "I think Carolina could handle more than you are giving her credit for."

Trent loaded the groceries into the trunk before getting in the drivers seat. "Heh. Well, that's true. She is a tough one."

She smiles and sits down. "So lets get back!" They drove back to the house and he started unloading the groceries.

"Hey! Got everything?" Raven grabbed a couple bags after giving Miki a kiss on her cheek.

Miki giggles kissing his cheek. "Yep." She helps get everything into the kitchen. "Ok everyone but Carolina out of the kitchen."

Raven blinked and gave her sad puppy dog eyes. "Why can't I stay?" Trent certainly wasn't going to argue. He put the bags on the counter before slinking to the living room to watch TV or something. Miki walked over and wrapped her arms around his neck kissing him passionately. Raven purred and wrapped his arms around her waist, returning the passion in the kiss. His body relaxing happily. Carolina cleared her throat and started fiddling around the kitchen. Getting bowls, cutting board, ect..

Miki breaks the kiss and giggles softly. "Dont worry you can go hang out with your dad." She steps back and helps out pulling things out.

"Alriiiight." Raven smiled and gave her one last kiss on the cheek before heading to the living room.

"So. What can I help with, Miki?"

Miki smiles and pulls the pork out. "Nothing i just wanted to talk to you. Woman to woman." She smiles. "I have 5 brothers and an overbearing mother. So i dont have a lot of girl time."

Carolina smiled. That was sweet of her. She only ever had Raven so she never exactly got to have girl time either...It was a sweet though. "It sounds like you have a really big family.... Was there something particulare you wanted to talk about?"

Miki starts seasoning the pork using the latex gloves. "Well... mostly im just wondering what Raven is really like. I only saw him at school and i kinda... idolized him. He always seemed so cool and calm. He doesn't seem as cool and calm as he let on."

Carolina giggled as she watched Miki. "That sounds like Raven... He's usually very calm around situations he's not comfortable in or around people he's not fond of or doesn't know. But deep down he's rather nervous sometimes."

Miki smiles and puts it into the oven on a low tempature. She pulls out the peppers before quickly chopping them up. She puts together that with the barbeque sause in a pot. "If you wish to know Raven did try and fight off my advances but i was persistant."

"Hmmm. Well, I was quite shocked when I saw you. Raven told me he'd never date a werewolf. That they intimadated him." Carolina sniffed the air. "It smells lovely."

Miki giggles. "He told me the same thing in 6th grade when i told him i liked him. But i guess i kinda won him over when i took him to the arcade. I showed him that unlike a lot of vampire girls i dont eat like a rabbit. I love food. This is the only thing my mom taught me to cook and she eternally regreted it."

Carolina laughed. "That's very true. He did always complain about that. I'm sure you've been nothing but a new adventure for him."

Miki blushes and bites her lip. "You have no idea." She slowly cooks the sause and keeps checking on the pork.

Carolina stared at Miki as she cooked, a question proding around in her head. "Why did you decide to mate with Raven?"

Miki takes a deep breath. "Well... it kinda just happened... but i knew before we went out last night that we might end up having sex. But i can't speak for Raven but i wanted to be with him and i guess i love him."

Carolina's brows arched up. She guessed? It was all she could do not to yell at Miki. The mother bear in her was getting ready to growl, but she promised Raven she'd give Miki a chance. So she mentally counted and relaxed. "Well... It was a really big step. Sex is one thing, but matting is something completly differnt. You can't go back from that. So I hope you're happy with the choice."

Miki looks over at Carolina and knew that she was angry. She could smell her anger. She tried to keep her tears at by but a single one slipped down her cheek. She had tried to tell her mother that she found a guy that she thought was the one and her mother had told her that she was too young to know who the one was. She set the spoon down before leaning against the counter. "I know its a big step... ive been told by my parents and my brothers that once you mate with someone you dont get a chance to change it." She gulps down another wave of tears. She took another deep breath. "When Raven told me that he doesn't date werewolves i had a moment of 'of course he wouldnt why would he want a mangy dog like me' ive never been feminine and ive never had any guy other than my brothers tell me that i was beautiful. Then when my friend got me a date with Raven i was over joyed then terrified. I could never compare to a vampire girl, im not graceful, or elegant or posed. Im loud, have points where i act out my preditor instincts and im just not the kind of woman that would attract a vampire like Raven." She looks over at Carolina her eyes holding back tears. "I love your son. And for some reason he loves me too." She turns back to the stove stiring the sause.

Carolina's shoulders slumped as she saw Miki's tears. Her heart grew heavey with guilt. She didn't mean to make her cry. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything. I hope you'll understand that the last few years haven't just been rough on Raven, but on the family as well. We care for him like any decent parent, so when a complete stranger comes into your home and says flat out to you, 'Your son raped me.' You question things. Yourself, how you raised him, those around him, even him himself when you know he's a good boy." She sniffled back some tears as she got up and gave Miki a hug. "It's easier to block out those that could cause harm..."

Miki wraps her arms aorund her tight as tears rolled down her cheeks. "I can't say i understand but i would never hurt Raven. I could never do anything like that to him."

Carolina sniffled as a few tears of her own glided down her cheeks petting Miki's hair. "Thank you, sweetie. Raven likes you alot, much more then the other girl." Miki smiles softly and grabs a napkin wiping their eyes. Carolina smiled and petted Miki again. "I should go set the table. It wont do at all if the food finishes and everyone tries to eat it straight out of the pan."

Miki nods giggles and nods. "It will be ready as soon as the pork is cooked through."

"Hehe, alright. I'm sure the boys are hungry." Carolina skittered over to the cabnit and got out a set of plates, cups, silverwear and cloth napkins. Skittering out of the kitchen to the ajoining room.
