Complications
Co-written by Aya
A/N: This chapter is longer than normal, but there is a lot going on.
Lisa: Ruka and Suke do have some rather frustrating communications problems. You are right about Suke not understanding since he's never been in a relationship before, and sometimes Ruka forgets this. Ruka is still learning that Suke is rather hesitant to be open about things since they've really only been together about two months.
As far as Suke believing Fujimaru dead, no one has told him otherwise. He fully believes that Jiro would never have allowed Fujimaru to live, much less escape. Plus, Jiro has forbade anyone to tell Suke differently knowing that he would go after Fujimaru and probably get himself killed.
Fuji smiled seeing Daisuike and let him into the car. "Got everything?" Seeing him nod he smiled, "So where are we off to?"
Once Daisuike told him the directions he headed off slightly nervous. Ruka would be really upset if something was wrong with Daisuike. They were just removing the stitches right? Shaking his head he parked getting out.
"Alright, I'll wait in the waiting room for you while you get checked out. Unless- er. . . Do you want me with you?" Ruka had on several occasions asked him to stay with him but he wasn't sure if Daisuike was afraid of doctors like Ruka was.
Daisuike frowned slightly and shook his head. "No, it's just a check up. I shouldn't be too long."
Fuji sighed relaxing in the chair. Suke had gone a while now and he was bored. Had he slipped out? Why was a stupid removal of stitches taking so damn long? Standing he stretched yawning then blinked watching a doctor walk over to him. Why did he suddenly have a really bad feeling in his stomach? The way the doctor was looking at him made his stomach knot and he wanted to just turn and walk out, not even hearing what was wrong.
"Are you the gentleman who brought Kobayashi-san?" Seeing the nod the doctor continued. "We are moving him to a hospital. There have been some complications with his wounds. I had to sedate him, he was quite insistent on leaving and I didn't want to risk any further injury to him. Is there a hospital you would prefer?"
Fuji stared in horror at the doctor. What was wrong with Daisuike? He was fine when he had come into the doctors yet now he wasn't? It made no sense and he was not happy at all.
"Yes, but you will first tell me what the fuck is going on. He was fine when he came in!"
"Actually no, he was not fine. He might have appeared alright. Has he been complaining of pain or moving slowly? Having difficulty breathing or eating? The condition he has often presents itself in stabbing victims. Sometimes not for years. I can't tell you any more than that due to patient confidentiality. He needs surgery immediately or his condition is going to deteriorate."
"Fucking hell! Ruka is going to throw a fit!" Grabbing fistfuls of his hair he groaned pacing for a moment, "Fine fine! Just take him okay?! Take him to Junko hospital, his boyfriend is currently there." With a sigh Fuji looked at the wall. This was not what he needed. "Looks like they'll both be recovering together."
"I don't need to go. I'm fine!"
"Kobayashi-san your x-ray showed you are not fine, now stop struggling."
Daisuike was furious as he lay on the gurney the nurses helping the paramedics get him ready for transport to the hospital.
"I can walk damn it!"
"We don't need to put any more strain on your body right now. Please relax."
Sighing Daisuike closed his eyes. This could not be happening. He should have just kept his mouth shut about the pain. He wanted to be at the hospital with Ruka but not in the hospital with Ruka.
Fuji sighed following the ambulance to Junko hospital. This wasn't what any of them needed. He wasn't even sure how long Ruka was going to be in the hospital and now Daisuike was going to be in it too. Rubbing at his neck he sighed wondering how he was going to tell Ruka. Getting out of his car he groaned. They wouldn't tell him anymore information about Daisuike and his brothers probably needed to know. Slumping in a chair he tried to figure out how to get his brothers information, then remembered he had Reiko's number. Once he got Jiro's number from Reiko, he tried to call the man. He had never met him but he needed to know.
Jiro yawned as he flipped the phone open. He was getting used to seeing random numbers pop up with everything that had been going on the last month or so. Though he was really expecting to hear from Daisuike about his check up. They were supposed to be removing the last of the stitches today.
"Moshi moshi Kobayashi here."
"Ano. . .Kobayashi-san? This is Fuji, one of Ruka's friends." What the hell was he suppose to say? 'Hello, your brother is in the hospital.'? Biting his lip, he stood starting to pace.
"Umm, well I took Daisuike to his doctor's appointment today since Ruka's in the hospital and- Ano. . . There's been some complications with his healing. He needs surgery but they won't tell me what's going on because I'm not family. Eto. . . I just thought I should let you know. . ."
Jiro sighed. "He needs another surgery? What the hell did he do to himself this time? Wait. Why is Ruka in the hospital?"
He got up off the couch grabbing his keys and wallet. He'd call Haru as soon as he found out what was going on.
"A-Ano, I'm not exactly sure. I guess he didn't do anything. The doctor said it was common in stabbing victims and doesn't always appear at first." Slumping back in his seat he sighed softly.
"About Ruka? He- Last night he went racing and crashed. He's pretty messed up."
Jiro groaned. "Shit! I bet Suke is totally freaked out too, and then for this to happen. Those two just cannot catch a break can they. I'll be there just as soon as I can. Wait, where am I going?"
Jiro was at his car, anxious to get to the hospital. Daisuike was probably already beside himself if Ruka was injured and to find out he himself needed another surgery, he was going to be a major handful.
"We're at Junko. I'll be in the waiting room. I'm honestly afraid to tell Ruka what's going on." Sighing he hung the phone up slumping back in his chair. He spotted Masa and Sono heading towards him frowning.
"What's wrong?"
"Daisuike's been admitted to the hospital. He didn't heal right or something."
"Bet Ruka is gunna love this."
"Shut your fucking mouth Sono. No one is telling Ruka anything. Not yet at least."
"Tch, whatever." Sono hung his head stalking off to sit alone.
"What are we gunna do Fuji?" Fuji could only shake his head, he wasn't sure what he could do yet.
Jiro stalked in to the hospital. Going straight to the front desk he asked for Daisuike and got told he was already being prepped for surgery. Sighing he turned to go to the waiting room. He had no idea if Ruka's friends were there or not, then he spotted Sono.
"Oi! Sono. You here for Ruka?" He slowed as he got to where they were sitting. He could at least go visit the man while he was here.
Sono lifted his head staring at Jiro for a moment before nodding. He really wasn't in the mood to talk though.
"He's in room 543 if you want to see him. He's awake though he's been drifting in and out of sleep all day." Putting his earplugs back in he closed his eyes trying to get some sleep.
Fuji lifted his head from where it rested against Masa's and blinked seeing someone's back as they went into the recovery room area. It was probably Jiro. He kind of wondered if he was going to mention Suke. He really hoped not.
Jiro opened the door as quietly as he could looking inside to see if Ruka was awake. He kind of wondered what had crawled up Sono's ass, but then again he'd only seen the guy once before. He was probably upset that his friend was hurt.
"Ruka? You awake?"
Ruka blinked turning his head smiling and seeing Jiro. Lifting his good hand he smiled. "To what do I owe this visit Jiro?" He frowned a bit then sighed, "You're never going to let Akira come driving with me are you."
He pouted a bit. He really wanted to take Akira out driving one day but after this he doubted Jiro would let him even drive Daisuike around.
"Well I just found out about the accident and thought I might check on you." He frowned slightly, apparently no one had told him about Daisuike. He was pretty sure that would have been the first thing he would have mentioned. "Ano, has anyone else been back lately?"
Ruka shook his head some, "Masa and Sono left about 30 minutes ago. Fuji and Daisuike have been gone a long time too. I'm kind of worried though. They should've been back a while ago."
Licking his lips he looked down. He was really worried to be honest. Daisuike had been acting strange for the past day and then all this happened and now he wasn't back yet from his appointment. It made him sick with anxiety.
"Ano, has he been complaining about being in pain lately?" Jiro wasn't sure how to approach the subject and didn't want to worry Ruka. "He'd mentioned to me that his stitches were bothering him the other day."
He knew Daisuike rarely if ever complained of being in pain and for him to even mention the stitches meant it was pretty much intolerable for him, which meant anyone else would have been in agony.
"No." Ruka's eyes got a bit darker and he lowered his head some, "He was moving oddly at dinner and I know I saw a flash of pain on his face so I asked about it and he brushed me off. . ."
The subject was still sore even if Daisuike had apologized, though he wasn't sure if he honestly should've accepted it since Daisuike didn't even know why he was apologizing.
"I just wish he wouldn't lie straight to my face."
Jiro shook his head. "Daisuike would lie to my face too if he thought it was something that would bother me. Especially anything involving himself." Taking one of the chairs Jiro sat down. "Ruka, Daisuike is probably the most obstinate person I know. If he was in pain . . . he wouldn't have admitted it. He probably didn’t want to worry you."
Jiro sighed and looked at the man his brother was so crazy in love with. He didn't see any reason to make him wait to know what was going on. He needed to know and the sooner the better. "Ruka . . . his check up didn't go very well today. He's in surgery at the moment."
Ruka was starting to argue about how he wanted to know if Daisuike was in pain but Jiro's last words were like buckets of ice cold water being dumped on him. Daisuike's appointment didn't go well? He was in surgery? His heart dropped and instantly he flung the blanket off himself moving to get up.
"I have to go see him! I have to go and make sure it goes okay." Ruka's mind was on panic mode and he was shaking, the need to see Daisuike too strong, ignoring the red hot pain throughout his body.
Jiro narrowed his eyes. "Lay down Ruka. They won't let you into the room while he's in surgery. How is he going to feel if he gets out and realizes that you hurt yourself because you were worried about him. Now lay down. Don't make me regret telling you."
"But-I-I have to!" Though he knew it was useless to get Jiro to let him go. It was unreasonable anyways. With a heavy sigh he laid back down gripping his hair with his good hand. "What happened Jiro? What's wrong with Suke?" His voice sound small even in his own ears. Ruka had no idea what to do now that his lover was hurt. How was he going to take care of him when he himself was in the hospital?
Jiro rubbed his forehead. "The doctor told me it happens about eighty percent of the time in stabbing victims. He has what they call a herniated diaphragm. Basically his stomach and stuff was pressing up on his lungs and heart because the diaphragm was ripped. It would have been causing pain and shortness of breath, maybe fever. Other than that there aren't really any symptoms. It was a good thing he went to his check up today. It could have killed him otherwise." Seeing the panic in Ruka’s eyes, Jiro decided that changing the subject might be a good idea. "What about you? If you are this banged up I'm worried for your car."
Ruka sat there quietly for a moment. He really didn't want to think about how badly Daisuike was hurt and how he could've died. That scared him to death, making him feel sick. Slowly he lifted his head to look at Jiro as he asked about his car. Licking his lips he sighed heavily.
"It's completely totaled. They had to pry the door open to get me out. That and I don't think it's repairable. It flipped and the roof was smashed I think. I really don't remember much to be honest, just remember the pain and-" And thinking he'd never see Daisuike again. The pure sorrow he had felt made him nauseated even now.
"-I think I'll just need to buy another car."
Jiro nodded. "I'm really sorry Ruka. Even if you hadn't had the wreck Suke would still be in the hospital. Do you want me to have him in this room with you?"
He glanced down at his watch. "He won't be out of surgery for another couple of hours, but I know he'd probably rather wake up with you in the room with him."
"I would really like that. . ." His voice was soft and he just felt like curling up and not doing anything. He wanted to go to sleep and not wake up till everything was okay again. Why had things gotten so messed up so fast? It wasn't right.
"I- I think I might try and get some rest for now if you don't mind." He felt himself slowly starting to unravel and he wanted to be alone when he broke down.
Jiro nodded and stood. "Anything you need, you just tell me Ruka. Suke is totally nuts about you and I'll do anything to make sure he stays happy and that means you too."
***
Daisuike blinked slowly not sure why he was staring up at a ceiling. His body felt very far away and it took him several moments to realize where he was. He struggled to sit up. He needed to check on Ruka. Ruka was going to be so pissed at him.
"Quit moving so much or they're going to restrain you again." Ruka smiled seeing Daisuike awake and he was happy to see him so energetic already. Shifting some he sat up more glad that he had made the nurses set the bed as close as possible to Daisuike's.
Reaching over he touched Daisuike's wrist softly, "How are you feeling?"
Daisuike looked over, surprised and extremely happy to hear Ruka's voice. He smiled seeing him, even if he felt bad.
"I feel like shit. I cannot believe we are both in the hospital. It's like the ultimate irony or something."
"Wanna know the most hilarious part? I'll probably get out before you. Well, I actually plan to get out of it first." Ruka grinned happily then shifted more so he could lay closer to him. He wanted to be basically on top of him but knew that it was impossible. He had just had surgery and that would end badly for both of them.
Stroking his cheek gently he frowned, "Why didn't you tell me you were in pain? Stuff like this is serious Suke. . ."
"Oi, there is no way you are getting out before me!" Daisuike shifted so that he was laying on his side facing Ruka. "It wasn't hurting that bad and I thought it was just my stitches bothering me. I told the doctor about it like I'd planned. I just wasn't wanting to worry you." He sighed, "Guess that was stupid."
"You had me really worried. . . I bet Fuji and Masa are pissed at me. I kept asking every five minutes how your surgery was going." Smiling softly he moved even more until he was close enough to kiss Daisuike.
"How long are you suppose to be in here for? Do you know?" Ruka honestly planned to get out before Daisuike so he needed to figure out how he would recover fast enough. Though his ankle was going to take a while to heal.
"Ano . . . they said at least a week to make sure that everything stays where it is supposed to be." He slumped back against his pillow. "God! I hate hospitals! I want to go home!"
Jiro poked his head in just in time to hear Daisuike whining. "Oi! No whining or you don't get what I brought you."
Ruka blinked shifting back a bit, Jiro had seen them enough times to know he couldn't keep his hands off Daisuike but it still feel awkward if Jiro saw them. Yawning some he stretched a bit yelping as he pulled his ankle some.
"God this sucks. . . Well, I'll have to try and get better in a week then." He looked towards Jiro smiling a bit, "So what did you bring?"
Daisuike glared at Jiro. "You know I can't eat anything."
"Yup. Didn't say I brought it for you. Hope you like sushi and onigiri Ruka. Aki-chan who owns the restaurant on our street gave it to me for you Suke, I couldn't very well turn her down now could I?" Jiro chuckled seeing Daisuike trying his best not to pout.
"You probably will be out sooner than Suke, Ruka. The only thing that might hold you back is that ankle."
Ruka smiled bowing his head some to Jiro, "Thank you. I'll eat in a little while." Looking from Jiro to his leg he sighed, "Yeah, I'm going to need to learn to drive with my left foot for a while until it fully heals." Looking down at his lap he sighed staring at his hand.
"I won't be able to race for a while since my wrist is messed up as well and I need both hands. . ." It really depressed him to think he couldn't race for a while, but he would have time to spend with Daisuike instead at least.
Jiro saw something flicker in Daisuike's eyes and he stiffened slightly. Other than that there was no change in him and Jiro wondered what was bothering him. Was it that Ruka wanted to race again? It was possible. Though he doubted that Daisuike would ever say anything about it even if it did bother him.
"Well, I'll leave you boys alone. I've got to get home and check on Akira. He'll probably be by to visit in the morning." Walking around the beds he set the food on the table near Ruka. "He's not to have any no matter how much be begs and whines."
"When can he eat?" Ruka tilted his head to the side to glance sideways at Daisuike. He really wanted to share the food with him. He'd wait or just not eat, there was no way he was going to eat in front of Daisuike when he wasn't able to.
"And I hate to say it but I doubt it'd as good as Suke's food."
Jiro laughed, "Who do you think taught Suke to cook so well? It certainly wasn't Chiyo. He can eat tomorrow at the earliest, is what I was told. The nurses will know more."
"Will you leave already."
Jiro just laughed again and slipped out of the room. He wanted to go see if Ruka's other friends were still around.
Fuji sighed yawning as he stood up. He was about to leave with Masa, Sono hanging around a bit longer as well, as he saw Jiro walk out from the doors.
"Hey, how are they?" Walking over he saw Sono seem a bit curious but otherwise tried to ignore them as best as he could. That idiot was still moping and he really just wanted to hit him as hard as he could.
"They are doing fine. Ruka will probably be out a couple of days before Suke actually. He's very eager to get back to racing. You might keep an eye on Daisuike though. He's pretty upset that he's back in the hospital. Being with Ruka will help. If you guys need anything you've obviously got my number."
"No problem. I'll make sure we keep an eye on Daisuike though I doubt Ruka will be more than 3 feet from him-if that." Fuji chuckled softly before looping his arm around Masa's neck.
"We're heading out. It was nice meeting you Jiro, I'm sorry it couldn't be under better circumstances though." Waving a hand he pulled Masa along with him glancing once at Sono.
"And get that stick out of your ass Sono, you're going to poke someone's eye out."
"Fuck yourself Fuji." Sono glared shoving away from his chair and stalking off out of the hospital.
"That kid is seriously going to do something stupid-wait he already did."
Jiro raised an eyebrow watching Sono walk out. "I'm guessing this something has to do with Ruka."
He looked over at Fuji. "I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself properly. I'm Jiro, I'm the oldest of us brothers."
Fuji bowed to him, smiling some, "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Fuji and this is Masa. I guess you can say I'm like their older brother."
"Nice to meet you. Ano- . . . Do you got more of that food? It smelled good."
"I'll feed you in a little while Masa."
"Good cause Ruka was suppose to win the race and feed me."
Fuji laughed lightly ruffling Masa's hair, "Tell him that next time you see him okay?" Glancing at Jiro he smiled, "We got a rule that whoever wins the races our of the three of us has to buy breakfast."
"Nice to meet you guys. I'll make sure and bring more next time I come."
Fuji rubbed his neck looking at Masa, "Why don't you go ahead and I'll catch up."
"You better take me to get food."
"Hai Hai." Fuji smiled watching Masa walk off.
"It was nice to meet you, again, Fuji. I need to be getting home. If you need anything or if Suke gets to be a handful just give me a call. I live ten minutes away so I can be here pretty quick." Jiro bowed slightly and turned to go. He needed to let Haru know what was going on and get home so Akira didn't freak out that no one was there. Though hopefully Reiko was with him.
***
"Morning!"
Ruka blinked waving a hand as Reiko, Akira and Jiro filed into the room, "Hey."
"Wow, you look like shit Ruka."
"Shut it. . ."
Akira was shocked at how bad Ruka looked. His face was black and blue and swollen and there were bandages everywhere. It reminded him too much of what Daisuike had looked like after he'd been attacked.
"Ano, hi Ruka." He glanced at Daisuike but he seemed to be asleep.
Jiro set the bag of food down on the table and turned to Ruka. "Has anyone else been in today yet?"
Ruka shook his head, "No. Honestly last night was pretty rough so I asked not to have any guests until you guys got here." Sighing Ruka ran a hand through his hair. Neither of them could sleep, they were in a lot of pain and he had tried to touch Daisuike resulting in both of them yelping in pain. It had ended too badly and for the rest of the night both of them moped slipping in and out of a restless sleep.
Reiko sighed softly walking over to them sitting on the bed next to him, "Glad you're okay though. At least you aren't in critical condition or anything. You'll get better soon. Same with Suke." She smiled at him patting his leg apologizing softly as he hissed in pain.
"I think I'm bruised everywhere. Oh, what did you bring this time? I'm starving and the hospital food sucks!"
Jiro looked over at the bag. "Actually I have no idea what she packed this time. Though we'll have to wait and see if Suke is ready to eat yet or not."
Akira went to go stand by Daisuike’s bed. He looked pale and Akira kind of wished he would wake up so they could talk, but he needed his sleep to heal. He glanced over at Ruka.
"I'm sorry about everything Ruka. It really sucks that the car is wrecked. I was looking forward to riding with you again."
Ruka smiled softly at Akira, "It's alright. I'll just buy a new one, though I might need to wait a while." Sighing Ruka looked down, "It's not even so much it's wrecked. I could care less, it's just a car, but. . ." Looking at his arm he sighed deeper.
"It's going to be a while I think before I can drive fully. I can drive one handed and with my left foot but. . . It's not as safe nor can I drift. I have to have both hands for drifting." Suddenly Ruka reached up grabbing his hair ruffling it in frustration. "Fuck! Why did I go and do that?! I knew it! I knew it wasn't safe. . ." The last part was whispered harshly and he felt so stupid for getting hurt like he was.
Reiko blinked staring at Ruka. She wasn't sure she had ever seen him this upset before, though when Daisuike was in the hospital it was close. This seemed more self hate than anything else and she wished she could help him somehow. Frowning she moved to his bed and shifted so she was sitting on it staring at him.
"Teach me to drive."
"Eh!?" Ruka lifted his head staring at her intensely, "I- I can't. My arm-"
"In a foreign car. The wheel is on the other side right? Then you can fix things with your left hand since your right is messed up, right?"
"Yeah. . . But-"
"What? You don't want to?"
Ruka frowned at her words, they were almost like a challenge. "Fine. I'll teach you to drive."
"Cool." She smiled brightly seeing that his mind was off of his wrist and now seemed to be on teaching her to drive.
Jiro shook his head trying to hide the grin, Reiko was good at diverting attention where she wanted it. He started to say something and noticed that Daisuike's eyes were open.
"Hey. Sorry, did we wake you?"
Daisuike shook his head but didn't say anything. Jiro went to help him as he tried to sit up.
"Take it easy, the bed adjusts if you want up." Raising it up for him Jiro glanced over to see Akira watching Daisuike an odd look in his eyes. He wondered what was bothering him but asking would get him no where.
Ruka smiled looking over at Daisuike, "Good to see you awake. Seemed you got some decent sleep finally." Yawning a bit he nestled back against the bed, wincing as some of his stitches pulled a bit.
"You look. . . good." Reiko's words were soft as she climbed off the bed gently moving to the food. He looked pale and hurt but she wasn't sure what else to say. "Are you hungry? Aki-san brought more food. She was insistent that you get better, she misses you. So go visit her more often Suke!"
Watching as Diasuike nodded a smile barely making it to his lips, made Akira worried. He wasn't really looking at any of them, just sitting there staring off into space. He wasn't going to ask what was wrong with everyone else around.
"Ne Suke, did the doctor clear you to eat?" Akira moved over to the table pulling out things he knew Daisuike would like. There was no answer and the glanced over his shoulder frowning.
Reiko blinked looking at Daisuike, worried. He wasn't looking at them, nor was he even saying anything. It bothered her a lot. Just as she was about to say something, Ruka interrupted her.
"Ano, can you guys leave for a moments? I'm feeling kind of bad all the sudden." Ruka shifted holding his head a bit, looking somewhat sick.
"S-Sure. . ." Reiko blinked looking at Akira and then Jiro. Daisuike didn't even say anything still. "Do you want us to get a doctor?"
"No, I just need a few moments. . ."
Akira looked up at Jiro as they went into the hallway, Reiko closing the door behind them.
"Something is wrong with Suke. He's never acted like this before. Even when he was in the hospital last time."
"Yes, I know. I have a feeling Ruka is going to find out what is going on. Let's go get something to drink. We can come back and check on them in a few minutes."
Ruka sighed shifting out of the bed, ignoring the burst of pain. He wanted to find out what was wrong and to just lay in bed near him wasn't enough. Moving so he was sitting on the edge of Daisuike's bed he reached out touching his face.
"Ouji-sama. . ." Ruka frowned unsure of why his beautiful boyfriend was so sad, so quiet and distant from them, "What's wrong?"
Daisuike shook his head. He didn't want to tell Ruka about the dream he'd had. Just thinking about it made him want to hit something. It had been too real, a mixture of memories and fears playing out in such a way that made him doubt himself. He had to believe that Ruka would never leave him and especially not in the way he had in the dream.
"Just not feeling good."
Ruka frowned stroking his cheek gently. Something seemed off and he knew Daisuike would be in pain but this seemed different. Leaning forward, trying to ignore the stabbing pain in his rib cage, he kissed Daisuike slowly on the lips, lingering longer than usual.
"I want to believe you, but just like when you said there wasn't anything wrong, your eyes give you away." Caressing his cheek again he kissed him softly, "What's wrong Ouji-sama?"
Daisuike finally looked up at Ruka wanting so badly to hold him but knowing he couldn't. He could tell it was hurting him to be sitting like that.
"You should lay back down before you hurt yourself. I just had a bad dream is all. The kind where you wake up and are relieved it wasn't real." Reaching over he gently touched Ruka's face, careful of the bandages. His smile was a little sad and he dropped his hand looking down. Waking up to remember that Ruka was so badly hurt was bad enough. He didn't need to be tormented in his dreams as well.
Ruka sighed softly moving to shift closer to him stroking his cheek still, letting his hand trail to his neck playing with the hair there. Kissing him softly he smiled as best as he could, even if seeing Suke so hurt bothered him.
"It was just a dream. A thing that your mind creates with different things that are going on in your life at the moment. Whatever happened it wasn't real nor true. Just remember that okay? This is reality, even if we're both hurt, it is it and we'll get through it." Smiling he kissed him again before carefully moving to his own bed trying to ignore the sharp pain in his side. Maybe it was time for some more pain medication.
"Hai, you are right. Sorry." Even as he said it he knew that part of it had been memories. Memories he wished he could expunge completely from his mind. "Ano, do you want me to call the nurse in? It's about time for your next dose of medication and I could use a new IV bag."
He wouldn't let it get to him, he couldn't. He had to get better as quickly as possible for Ruka. Ruka was going to need him at home and he did not want to be in the hospital by himself.
"That and I really want something to eat. That food smells really good."
Ruka smiled, "They should be back any minute now-"
"We're back!" Reiko bounced in happily, two coffees in her hand. She smiled at Ruka winking a bit before setting one of the coffees down in front of Suke and then handing Ruka the other. She had been eavesdropping the entire time since they got back and she was glad that things were worked out. For the most part.
"Ne! Maybe you should be my personal assistant, Hime-chan! You're good at it."
"I thought I was your pet."
"Can she be both Ouji-sama?"
Reiko frowned muttering softly, "I'm not entirely sure that's possible."
Shaking his head Daisuike eyed the coffee. It smelled so good but he was afraid of drinking it just yet. He set it the side looking up as Akira came to stand next to the bed. He held up his phone so Daisuike could read the text on it.
"Everyone says hi. Hasu wants to know when you will be well enough for a sparring session."
"Eh? Is he serious?"
"Yes. He ano . . . he said he'd like to spar with you sometime."
"Spar?"
"Yeah . . . he's been learning Hap Ki Do."
"Oh . . . no way. He'd kick my ass."
Reiko giggled, "Maybe right now but I dunno. . . You're pretty tough Suke! I kind of want you to teach me to fight better eventually!"
"Hap Ki Do? I'd like to see him practice sometime. Though I should get to meet your friends more Akira. They seem like a good group."
"They're really cool! Ne! Did you think more on the races in Kobe?" Reiko smiled moving food about, snagging a dorayaki and an onigiri sneaking back to her seat. Munching on it she watched Ruka thinking.
"I think our circuit would really like to do that. Maybe in a month or so we can start, though I need to hammer the details out with Jiro." He smiled at the man then looked at Akira. "I'd love for your band to play for us."
"Yeah last time when we were all at your house he didn't talk much, he was too busy stuffing his face." Akira grinned. "We would all love to play for you guys. Though I'm not sure where we would play."
He looked pointedly at Jiro who just shrugged. "We'll figure something out. I'm still trying to work out particulars on where they'd be able to race. Maybe you can make the calls for me while you are in here, Suke. You already know more than I do about it."
"Oh . . . ano, not really but I can work on it."
Akira glanced over at Jiro glad he'd thought of something to keep Daisuike occupied.
"Oh! We can scout areas together once we get out of the hospital Ouji-sama! I can have Masa and Fuji look at different spots and such while we're in and then we can drive around!" Ruka smiled happily at Daisuike excited and wanting to be out of the hospital as soon as possible.
"That's an idea." Reiko smiled going back to her dorayaki, "Wow, Jiro was right. This is like Suke's." Her eyes were wide and she blinked, "I'm starting to question if I should bother coming to eat at your house anymore Daisuike." She smirked at him trying to get him to smile and join in.
"Well it would definitely help keep our food bill down if you quit. Between you and the boys I can barely keep up. Especially if Hasu comes over. If Masa starts coming over, I'm doomed." Daisuike laid back against the pillows smiling at them. It was nice to have them here and helped him not think about other things that he really didn't want to think about.
"H-Hey!! I don't eat that much!" Reiko sniffled pouting at him, "So mean. I don't eat that much! Do I?" She looked at Akira, a hurt look on her face.
"Oi! You guys all just have to start coming to my place. The food bill isn't really that much. I'm used to feeding a lot of people." Ruka smiled at everyone, his eyes lingering on Daisuike. He seemed better and he really wanted to go over there and touch him, even if they were both hurt.
Akira laughed at the look on Reiko's face. "You don't any eat that much. At least Hasu can cook his own food if he needs to ne?"
Daisuike nodded, "Yeah he's a pretty good cook for a little kid."
Daisuike suddenly remembered and looked over at Jiro. "Ano Jiro . . . can you take care of something for me?"
"Hai, whatever you needed."
"Thanks. I'll text you the details."
Ruka frowned but then sighed softly laying back against the pillows. He had a feeling that Fuji and Masa would be coming sometime soon and he really honestly just wanted to spend time with Daisuike and everyone here. He loved his friends but he liked spending time with these people.
Blinking he heard his phone go off and instantly Reiko grabbed it for him handing him it, "Thanks." Flipping it open he pressed it to his ear, "Hai- H-Hoshi?" Ruka winced, yelling starting to come over the phone and he literally had to move it away from his ear to not go deaf.
"Ano. . ." Ruka yelped hearing Hoshi yelling his name and he put it back, "H-Hai. . . Hai. . . Yeah, it's totaled- It- It's not like I tried to wreck it! Yes. . . Sorry. . . Sorry. . .Thank you." Sighing he closed the phone hanging his head.
"I think I might stay in the hospital longer just for the protection it'll give me against Hoshi. . ."
Daisuike looked over at him. He felt bad that Hoshi was upset, but he understood the feeling. As much as it upset him about the car, just the fact that Ruka was hurt made him really upset. Furious more like it. He wondered if Fuji and Masa would be showing up soon. He had a couple of ideas about how to get back at those guys for what they had done to Ruka.
Jiro looked down at his watch. "We probably should be going. You guys need your rest and-"
He was interrupted as three nurses came in.
"Sorry, we need to change dressings and check vitals."
Jiro nodded. "Of course. Come on guys, we can come back later. Get some rest boys."
Ruka fidgeted a bit as the nurses checked them out and changed the bandages. He hated this part and it irritated him to no end. That and the nurses kept staring and touching them but there wasn't much he could do to stop it. Once they were done Ruka sighed closing his eyes, "I'm going to rest for a bit." He was exhausted and he was asleep by the time his head hit the pillow.
***
Fuji and Masa smiled as the slid the door open seeing them then frowned, "Ruka's asleep? Damn, well we'll visit for a short while with you, that okay? Unless you want to sleep too Daisuike."
Daisuike shook his head. "No, it's okay. Come on in. The nurses seem to wear us both out. Oh Masa there is food in that bag over there if you want some. Just leave a bit for Ruka. I'm still not allowed to have anything just yet."
Masa instantly bolted for the food as Fuji rolled his eyes taking a seat. "So how are you feeling today? Better I hope?" He frowned not liking the way both Ruka and Daisuike were so pale. "Don't eat it all Masa."
"I'm not. . ."
He snorted watching Masa put some food back having caught him almost eating it all.
"I'm fine. Ruka's in a lot of pain though. They are having a hard time getting his medication doses right. Hopefully this last dose will help. He's not been sleeping very well either. At least he can eat though." Daisuike smiled at Fuji trying his best to not be depressed. "It looks like he's going to get out of the hospital before me though. That and he's agreed to help Reiko learn to drive. Though that scares me."
"Well, I bet he's going to be here anyways even if he gets out early. He won't leave your side. He's like a puppy when it comes to you." Fuji smiled then his eyes went wide, "Wait, he's going to teach her to drive? That. . . I am kind of afraid. Especially if she starts racing, we'll never get a chance to win a race and she'll kick us out of our second and third place spots." Rubbing his forehead he sighed.
"That and she's really pretty. There aren't too many girl racers." Masa smiled around his food sitting near them.
"Oh god, don't even start that. Fuck, we're going to need bodyguards."
Daisuike blinked a few times looking at Fuji before looking down. "Ano . . . do you guys have problems with the other racers that often? I-I wouldn't want Reiko getting into trouble."
He really wished he could forget about what had happened. He should be thinking about Ruka and doing what he could for him, not moping about what had happened at the race. He was being stupid and selfish again.
"Honestly sometimes yeah. Especially in other circuits. You have no idea how many times I had to go over and beat the shit out of a guy for messing with Ruka when he was younger. Since he's good looking and a fast racer, people like that, so sometimes they don't keep their hands to themselves."
Something about the way Daisuike was acting bothered Fuji and seemed oddly familiar. Watching him for a moment he then scooted his chair closer looking him straight in the eye.
"Who messed with you Daisuike?"
Daisuike glanced at Fuji then looked away. He was afraid to tell him. Would Ruka be mad at him if he found out? Hisoka had said Ruka wouldn’t want anything to do with him if he found out. It wasn’t like he’d wanted to kiss him. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. His focus should be on Ruka and so should Fuji's. He looked back over at Fuji.
"It wasn't a big deal. I'll just know better for next time."
Fuji growled then reached over turning Daisuike's face to him. He wasn't going to let him drop it so easily. "Who fucked with you Daisuike? We can keep this between you and Masa and I, or I can get Ruka involved. It's your choice but you'll be telling us one way or another." Fuji frowned, his voice softening a bit. "Daisuike. . . Just tell me okay? We can take care of it. No one should mess with anyone but things happen. Just like those guys who fucked with Ruka will be getting what they deserve as well."
Daisuike stared at him for a moment before slowly pulling back. Did he dare tell them? He felt so stupid. Actually stupid didn't even cover it. He didn't think he was that naive but apparently he was. He felt more than a little guilty as well. Guilty of what he wasn't sure, but part of him wondered if Ruka would consider what had happened cheating. It felt like cheating.
"Ano . . ." He looked down unable to look Fuji in the eye. "He said his name was Hisoka."
He looked back up at Fuji his eyes pleading, "I don't want Ruka to know, he'll be upset and he's got enough going on now as it is."
Fuji slowly nodded, his fists clenching on his lap, "I understand, but. . .Daisuike. You need to know this." Looking at him, his eyes hard trying to keep his rage down. "Whatever Hisoka said to you. . . It was all lies. That guy will do anything and everything to get into someone's pants and knows how to manipulate people."
Licking his lips he glanced over at Masa who had stopped eating at the mention of Hisoka's name. "If I had known Hisoka would be there we wouldn't have gone. That guy- He's bad news. He's hurt a lot of good people just to satisfy himself. If you ever see him again Daisuike, just turn away and walk off. Don't bother talking to him, he'll just mess you up more." This next part Fuji really didn't want to ask but he needed to know. "Did he touch you Daisuike?"
Daisuike looked at Fuji for a long moment, the events of that night playing out in his head. He never wanted to feel like that again. He knew now why he'd been in so much pain and unable to pull away like he'd wanted. He wanted to hit him even now. Anything to stop that voice repeating those things in his head. He turned away from Fuji before nodding slowly. It probably wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it had been bad enough.
Fuji cursed softly and he could hear Masa putting the food away. He wanted to strangle that asshole. He was eventually going to do it too but it was just a matter of how slow that guy's death was going to be.
"I think we should tell Ru-kun."
"No. He'll go ballistic. This is Hisoka we're talking about."
"I know but that's my point. If Hisoka is messing with Daisuike I think Ruka should know."
"No. This stays between us, Masa Understood? I'll take care of Hisoka. He should know better. What is he trying to do?"
"You know what he's doing Fuji. . ." Masa sighed sitting down and looking Daisuike then back at Fuji. "I think Daisuike needs to know Fuji."
"I know. . . I know but. . ." He sighed looking at Daisuike for a long moment, "I'm sorry. . ."
Daisuike shook his head. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have let him get me alone like that. Sono's right. I do make a lousy boyfriend."
He really wanted to stop talking about it. It was bad enough he'd dreamed about it, but talking about it now was making him have to think about it and he didn't want to.
Fuji shook his head, "No, it's not your fault at all Daisuike and Sono is wrong. You are the best boyfriend Ruka has ever had. He's truly happy for once in his life, even if bad things happen." Reaching out he touched Daisuike's leg gently.
"I think you should know something. Ano. . ." He looked at Masa who nodded unsure about how to approach the subject. "Hisoka. . . Hisoka more than likely came after you to fuck with Ruka."
"Hisoka is Yujiro’s slut."
"Er. . . To put it like that, yeah." Seeing the confused look on Daisuike's face Fuji sighed, "I forgot you haven't met-thank god-Yujiro before. Yujiro is Ruka's-well I guess he considers himself Ruka's rival. Though Ruka doesn't like to even bother with him. He's competition but that asshole has a bad personality and does a lot of shit just to win that's. . . not the best. He likes to mess with Ruka too, so it's no surprise that Hisoka went to bother you."
"What did Hisoka say to you Daisuike?" Masa frowned unsure of how to help.
That made sense, with the stuff Hisoka had said to him. Daisuike looked at Fuji. "He claimed he didn’t know Ruka. Seriously I wondered why he even came on to me from the things he said. He . . . he's right though. Why would Ruka want to be with someone like me? I don't race, hell I panic if he goes of ninety. I'm not even that good looking. But I'm not a toy and Ruka is not a player . . . er at least not now. I hope."
"You're really dense aren't you Daisuike." Fuji sighed rolling his eyes, "Ruka is madly in love with you because of who you are though you being absolutely drop dead gorgeous helps that too. Who cares if you don't race? Sono didn't race, hell most of his past lovers didn't race. At all. Fuck, that one chick was against Ruka racing. Then again she wasn't his girlfriend really either though. . ."
"Yeah! And Ruka isn't a player! He's so devoted to you! I totally tried to get him to help me get some girls when he first met you and he blew me off! Like. . . COMPLETELY! It's not even funny. . ."
Fuji laughed patting Masa's head gently, "Daisuike, I think you'd be more likely to cheat on Ruka than Ruka would be to cheat on you. Hisoka is wrong though Daisuike. Very very wrong."
Daisuike jerked his head up looking at Fuji. He glared at him not liking the hot tightness in his chest. Why would Fuji think he would be the one to cheat? "I would not! I've never met anyone like Ruka. I-I can't even imagine being with anyone but him. I don't care what Hisoka said, I will never be unfaithful to him. Ever. Just because . . . just because some guy thinks he is free to kiss me doesn't mean cheated. I wouldn't. I love him." Daisuike was shocked at how emotional he sounded and tried to get himself under control.
"Hey, hey now. . . I know you wouldn't Daisuike. Hey. . . " Leaning over Fuji touched Suke's hair gently stroking his head. "Hey, listen to me Daisuike. Everyone knows that you are faithful to Ruka, that you'd never do anything to hurt him and that you love him. And you're right, just because some guy kisses you doesn't mean you cheated."
Masa nudged Fuji gently and he nodded some, "I didn't mean to say you would, I'm sorry Daisuike. We know you love him."
Daisuike nodded slowly staring down at his hands in his lap. He took a few deep breaths realizing that he was shaking. He glanced back up at them.
"I want to help take those guys down. I don't care what I have to do. No one hurts Ruka."
Fuji nodded slowly, "The thing is Daisuike, you cannot-even as much as you want to- hurt these guys. If you get involved it's going to be bad. You can be there, but honestly as his crew we need to take care of it. I wouldn't be surprised if Itokawa gets involved too. I would honestly really like you to stay out of it Daisuike. . ."
Masa shifted looking uncomfortable, "These guys are already in trouble since word is out that Ruka was hurt in their race. No one will race them now anyways. . ."
"Oh . . . there's not anything I can do? Any way I can help? Please. There has to be something. I don't like being this . . . useless." Daisuike didn't want to admit it, even to himself, but he didn't really have any idea how these circuit things worked. He figured it worked a little like his gang with their territories and members, but he wasn't really certain.
"If all I can do is stand around and watch then I'm exactly what those guys said."
Fuji really didn't like the desperate plead in Daisuike's voice, unable to take it. "Fine. Fine you can help but there isn't a lot you can do. We're just going to talk to these guys and talk to Hisoka. That's it. Unlike the Yakuza, we don't settle things with violence Daisuike." Sighing he shifted back rubbing his face, "I swear I'm going to rip off Hisoka's balls."
"I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. Do you know how many diseases he probably has?"
"I understand. I just want to do something. I don't like . . . being made a fool of and I really don't like people thinking they can get away with shit like that." Daisuike laid back against the pillows suddenly feeling tired. He glanced over at Ruka then looked back at Fuji.
"Just don't tell him about Hisoka."
"We won't. He really doesn't need the stress right now. Plus it would be falling right into Yujiro’s hand if we did. God why can't he just leave Ruka alone?" Shaking his head Fuji stood patting Suke's leg gently.
"We should go and let you rest. You look really tired and pale. As soon as you can, start to eat. I think Masa left you food."
"Oi! I did! I promise!" Masa smiled at Daisuike happily, "If it's not enough call me and I'll bring you a ramen from my house!"
"I'll just buy something, you need the ramen Masa, though the thought is nice." He smiled ruffling his hair some smiling a bit sadly down at the smaller man.
Daisuike smiled at them. "I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be allowed to eat for a while yet. Not until they are sure everything is going to stay where it's supposed to. I'll tell Ruka you guys were here. I appreciate everything guys. Ruka's very fortunate to have such good friends."
"Oh and if you want Masa there are still a bunch of leftovers at the house. Someone needs to eat them so they don't go bad. Ruka ordered entirely too much food."
"R-really?" Masa's eyes went wide and he smiled happily, "Thank you!! An-Ano! I'll even clean up the dishes and the house and and-"
"Just go baka." Fuji laughed watching Masa scrambling to leave to go to the apartment rolling his eyes. Once he left he smiled at Daisuike, "Thank you for that. Masa doesn't really have a lot and honestly the best meals he gets are with us usually. I was surprised he offered you the Cup Ramen he has at his house. . . He must like you a lot." Fuji smiled patting his leg gently.
"Try and get some rest."
Daisuike nodded and watched the older man leave the room. He'd wondered if Masa got enough to eat. He would just have to invite them over more often. Readjusting the bed he tried to get comfortable. He stared up at the ceiling for a bit thinking about what they had said. Reaching over he gently took Ruka's hand and held it to his chest. He wasn't going to let anything happen to him, not if he could help it. He finally went to sleep still holding Ruka's hand.

Fujimaru stalked around the warehouse like a caged tiger as the men around him worked feverishly to get the crates loaded into the waiting truck. He finally stopped and turned to Koji who as trying his best to appear unperterbed.
“You are certain.”
“Hai. I overheard that little purple-haired kid say that they were getting out soon.”
“No one saw you.”
“No one.”
“Alright then. Go get your brother and I want you to get the other warehouse over in Chuo-ku ready. I don’t want to be rushed this time, like I was last time. Good work.”
Koji bowed and didn’t bother to stick around. Fujimaru was not someone you hung around if you valued your health.
Fujimaru chuckled darkly making the men nearest him cringe, speeding up their pace. He’d broken Daisuike physically last time, maybe now it was time to break him emotionally.
***
Ruka smiled as he hobbled down the hallway walking along with Daisuike. They were finally getting out of the hospital and he was excited to get home. Both of them were healing decently enough and it wouldn't be too bad once they got home. Though they'd need to take it easy.
"You doing okay? Are you sure you don't want a wheelchair?" Ruka would have issues though if Daisuike went into a wheel chair, himself needing a crutch to walk.
"No. If anyone needs a wheel chair it's you. I'm fine." Daisuike smiled at him. "Did you tell anyone we were getting out today? Or where you just wanting to go home. I vote for home. Though I'm kind of afraid to see what the apartment looks like since I told Masa he could go over and eat."
In reality he was looking forward to having a mess to clean up. Something normal to do after being in the hospital for so long. "I bet we need to stop at the store on the way home."
"I didn't tell anyone, I honestly just wanted to go home alone in peace. . ." Sighing he rubbed his face, a little out of breath. "This sucks. I feel so weak still." Though he hadn't thought of something, "Shit. I don't have a car. I guess a taxi would work."
Leaning against Daisuike a little he called for a taxi smiling at him as they got in once it arrived. "The store first then?"
"That works."
Daisuike made Ruka wait in the car while he grabbed a few essential items that he knew he'd at least be able to use to make dinner and breakfast the next morning. He was glad Ruka hadn't told anyone. He really just wanted to be alone with Ruka. They hadn't had more than ten minutes of privacy the whole time it seemed like. He'd started to time the rounds when the nurses would check on them. They'd checked on Ruka every thirty minutes and his nurses had come in about the same schedule but never at the same time, so every fifteen minutes or so someone was coming into their room.
He was going to be so happy to be able to shut the door to their room and know that no one was going to come walking through it.
Ruka smiled as they got home, the house surprisingly decently clean. There was a few things messed up, but that was expected of Masa. Moving to the couch he laid down smiling and breathing in deeply.
"God I missed the smell of this place. It's official, I hate hospitals. They smell funny, the nurses are annoying and they only make me feel miserable." Laying his head back he smiled.
"I'm glad they found out my ribs weren't broken but just cracked slightly. That car really held up honestly. I'm surprised I'm not as hurt as I thought I would be."
Daisuike smiled as he went to the kitchen getting Ruka a drink. He set on the table next to him. "I'm really glad it did. I'm going to go see what kind of damage Masa did to our food supply."
He set about putting away what they'd bought and noting the things he was going to need more of. He cleaned what little there was to clean and coming back into the living room starting straightening it up.
"I wish I could have come home sooner. I don't like that you had to come home to a dirty house."
Ruka laughed then coughed wincing at the pain grinning even through the pain. Daisuike was so funny sometimes, he was like a house wife. Then Ruka slowly got the image of him in just an apron and bit his lip eying Daisuike slowly. To see him in just an apron was a very pleasing sight.
"Mm, I don't mind though. You aren't my maid or anything Daisuike." He smiled slowly getting up gritting his teeth some before backing Suke up against the counter smiling.
"Though I definitely wouldn't mind seeing you in a short apron. And only that."
Daisuike shook his head grinning. "And that is why I will never own a short apron. Though I never said I was your maid anyway." He planted a quick kiss on those delectable lips. "Now come on you need to be laying down and relaxing. I know it hurts you to move. We can lay on the couch and watch a movie. How does that sound?"
"Can we have sex instead?"
Ruka's face didn't change expressions at all, though the corner of his lip twitched slightly into a grin. Planting a soft kiss on his lips he moved closer trapping him against the counter even more, enjoying the warmth from his body. He was a bit too exhausted for sex- well unless Daisuike did everything and he'd never ask him to do that, but he really wanted to touch and feel his lover.
Daisuike let out a sigh that was half amused half frustrated. "You can barely hobble across the room and you want to have sex? Sorry koibito. I know it's been a while but we are both going to have to wait."
Daisuike gently took his arm and started to lead him into the bedroom. "We can however enjoy having privacy for the first time in a week."
Ruka pouted but followed Daisuike willingly. Just to be able to hold him in his arms and cuddle sounded nice too. They hadn't had much time together alone and it had really got to him after a while.
"Do we have to wear clothes?"
Ruka smirked some knowing he was eventually going to get hit probably. "Okay okay, I'm changing though I want to be comfortable."
"Comfortable is a definite priority." Dasiuike went to the dresser and got them both out a pair of sweats and a t-shirt. He helped Ruka out of his clothes and to get into the others. Once Ruka was comfortable on the bed he quickly changed clothes as well.
He glanced down seeing the newly healed surgery scar. "Fujimaru managed to give me another scar, damn bastard."
"Do they really bother you that much?" Ruka frowned as Daisuike moved closer to him. Reaching out he started to trace the scars with his fingertips. Lifting his eyes slowly he stared at Daisuike.
"Do they?" He really wanted to know, if they did he'd help fix them. "You're beautiful even with them in my opinion. . ."
Daisuike smiled sadly, Hisoka’s comment echoing in his head. "It's not so much the scars themselves but how I got them."
He reached down running his fingers through Ruka's hair. "They are a reminder and sometimes I don't want to be reminded."
Ruka nodded pulling Daisuike down into his arms holding him against himself burying a hand into his hair kissing him. He allowed himself a few moments just to take in the taste and feel of his lover. It felt like it had been so long since he had gotten to do something so simple and it felt good to be able to do just that.
Caressing his face and neck he smiled more as he pulled back staring at him, "It will just take time to not be hurt by the reminder. It'll eventually pass just like the scars will fade eventually." Leaning down he kissed him again drawing him closer so he could just touch and feel the man next to him. It's all he wanted to do and he was glad he was able to finally do it in peace.
Snuggling closer to Ruka, Daisuike nodded. "I know. It's kind of crazy when you think about how much has happened since then, you know. We haven't even been together three whole months yet. Well almost."
Daisuike signed then perked up, he'd almost forgotten about the surprise he had planned. He wanted to wait to tell him for a bit though. He still needed to call Hoshi and see if the Saleen was fixable or if he needed to buy a new one. That and there were a couple of things he wanted done to each of Ruka's cars. Just in case something like this were to ever happen again. He was going to need Fuji and Masa's help on that one.
He wondered if it would be a good idea to invite Sono for the special weekend he had planned. He knew Sono didn't race, but there was a whole amusement park of things to do and he didn't want to mess up by not inviting him. He'd much rather the two of them get along. Or at least put up with each other for Ruka's sake.
"Ah! You're right! It's almost been three months, ne?" Ruka smiled softly. He wanted to do something really special for Daisuike when it became their 3rd month. It felt like so much longer than just three months to him though. After all that had happened he wondered what their lives would be like in a year.
Running his fingers through Daisuike's hair he smiled softly. Honestly in his heart he'd really like to propose to Daisuike even if they couldn't marry legally and it was probably too soon, but he just felt so connected to Daisuike that he never wanted to lose him.
"Seems like forever. . ."
Daisuike chuckled. "In a way it does, but then again it also seems like the time has just flown. I feel like I've always had you around. I really don't know how I survived without you around, Ruka. I can't help but think that if I'd met you sooner my life would have been a lot better. But I guess we both had to experience our lives up till now ne?"
He close his eyes laying his head against Ruka just letting himself be totally enveloped by the sensation of being held by the one person he loved more than anything.
"That we did, unfortunately." Sighing softly Ruka turned his head to the side kissing Daisuike's temple softly. He never wanted to let this man go. Tomorrow he'd go and find out what the laws were and how he'd be able to marry the man in his arms. It was something he desperately wanted and even if it was too soon he wanted to know how he could. Maybe he'd drop hints and see if Daisuike would even be interested.
***
Daisuike had the music down low as he worked in the kitchen making breakfast. It was so nice to be home and doing normal things again. Home. He looked around the apartment and smiled. Yes, this was definitely home to him and that had everything to do with the man sleeping in the other room. He sighed, content and happy. Although they hadn't done anything more than cuddle last night it had been wonderful. He was a little anxious for them both to heal, but it could wait for now.
He went to the refrigerator and scowled. He was out of too many things to finish making breakfast. Closing the door he shut the stove off and went into the bedroom. Ruka was still asleep. He should be able to make it to the store and get back before Ruka even woke up. He still left a note telling Ruka where he’d went on the bedside table. Removing the apron he set it on the end of the bed and after changing grabbed his keys and wallet. He wouldn’t be gone more than twenty minutes if that.
***
Daisuike decided to be lazy and take the elevator instead of the stairs. He wasn’t really supposed to be carrying any more than ten pounds. That was when he remembered that he could have called to have the groceries delivered and chuckled ruefully. He couldn’t get used to living like Ruka did. Once inside the apartment he set the bags on the counter getting the things out he needed.
Ruka still wasn’t up by the time he got breakfast ready and he decided to go check on him. He frowned slightly at the empty bed. He couldn’t hear the shower running. After a thorough inspection of the apartment revealed that Ruka was gone he sat down on the couch confused. Why hadn’t Ruka called him? He pulled his phone out checking to make sure it was on. It was and he hadn’t missed any calls. He sat on the couch a growing sense of unease eating at him. After a moment he hit the speed dial for Ruka’s number. It went straight to voicemail. The unease started to blossom into full blown panic. Ruka couldn’t get very far very fast on his crutches. Maybe he’d went to the garage.
He’d just slipped his shoes back on when his phone rang. He flipped it open without even looking at the screen.
“Ruka-“
“Don’t you wish.”

“Ruka-“
